This story grew from a debt the group owed to the Temple of Air and Light from the end of the Norjak adventure. They were tasked with finding two women who were on the ship Vanity.
The group had someone tell them that the Vanity would be in Rivers Bend on the first full moon after harvest. The harvest festival is 1-8 (first day of 8th month) and there are full moons on the 5th (5-8), 17th (17-8) and the 1st (1-9).
The first attempt at finding a ship resulted in sailing with a group of Vikings on their longship. That voyage ended in disaster when they encountered a derilict cargo ship and many of the crew members and some of the characters caught the Grey Death. Going back upstream to Loosend to find additional crew the characters decided not to wait and found another ship leaving soon.
This was the barge Rustim which was carrying a Gypsy families wagons downstream. Wanting to stop at Midturn in Drillian for supplies for the ship encountered a Dragon Turtle whose breath weapon killed the captain and several Gypsies. The ship survived a direct ramming attack on the Dragon Turtle killing it. Assessing the damage afterward Branwyn was the only party member still standing with the rest laying sprawled out on the deck. She was able to save all the party members except Foriso and four of the gypsies also survived the encounter. The captain of the ship died in the attack.
After recovering the group took charge of the barge and started back downstream on their journey towards Rivers Bend.
Eventually after several more river encounters including managing to capture a Bugbear Pirate ship the group made it to Rivers Bend. There they participated in the Regatta di Burano coming up with a remarkable win at the same time capturing one of the Pirate Queens and recovering the Bowl of Winds for the Temple of Air and Light.
The group celebrated their conquest and victories with several parties and participated in the Regatta di Storica before moving onto the Witch Hunters story arc.
[Koorin (BiBo!!!)] :: has worn herself out dancing by this point, she pants and says, "So what did the ghost look like Indigo?"
[Indigo (Lisa)] I told you. No ghosts. Just a bunch of smelly corpses.
[Koorin (BiBo!!!)] "Awwww.... so I did all my ballast for nothing?"
[Indigo (Lisa)] Ballast?!? Bah, nevermind
[Koorin (BiBo!!!)] "Its not easy doing ballast on a ship! It keeps moving and I keep falling down!"
[Indigo (Lisa)] You can't do ballast! The ballast is the stuff that weighs the ship down for bal...
[Indigo (Lisa)] Who is telling you these things? Maybe you should stick to cooking
[Llathandryll (BiBo!!!)]"Moreover it could be trapped or possesssed or have any other number of dangers. Playing with them like they are toys while we are out in the middle of dangerous territory will get someone killed."
[Sarengar (Guy)] this territory is only dangerous if you dont know what you are doing
[Llathandryll (BiBo!!!)] "Which perfectly describes you."
[Sarengar (Guy)] and since I know this territory and I also know what Im doing you are quite safe
[Llathandryll (BiBo!!!)] "We are not quite safe. You dont get attacked by giant fish and ghost ships when you are quite safe."

This was a fun adventure to research. I stumbled upon a book when I was at work and it inspired me to create a story based on the poem.
I ran this adventure as a full story from the start of trying to find who to go after and how to get there until the final confrontation at the end. This turned out to be much more of an adventure getting to Rivers Bend than it was anticipated by me or the Players.
