[Carissa] And what we could have done about magic fog. Dispel Magic, I suppose, but not sure if the scroll should have been used there. I figure it'll be a bigger encounter, with drow or something.

[SpringyDew] the point was, no point looking up whether it can or not, it could only be cast once in any case

[Carissa] Doesn't say... just it controls wind so probably not

[TMO] okay, analyzed why I'm mildly frustrated. Don't know if it's valid or not, but will go ahead and write it down anyways. We were given three options to choose from, with not a lot of info about which was better. If anything, we had a hint to do the witches. So we picked the Witch Card from Bob's hand of 3, then got our wrist slapped with a big "NOPE! Wrong choice!" Not sure if that's how it feels to others, or just to me.

[Carissa] And exactly, one 5th level... to use for something that *might* work? Not worth wasting if they're not getting sleep.

[TMO] and maybe it will play into the story later and pay off. I don't know

[Lisa] yes I felt kinda like we were gently pushed in that direction too

[Carissa] See, I was conflicted. I took the hint as both witches or battle being the better option, and a nudge towards witches, but I didn't know if it was imperative.

[Lisa] but as always we don't have to do what bob says

[Carissa] I think the other things is... an encounter like that, if you didn't have anyone who could use magic... what options are there?

[Lisa] I thought staying in the village wasn't enough help to get the shell back and the elves needed help and they were definitely going to battle

[TMO] oh, definitely agreed. But if we were supposed to go here, then what did we miss?

[Lisa] we have only been gone 30 to 45 minutes

[TMO] that's what Ilero was looking for - the missing option that we were here for

[Lisa] so we book it to the battle and see what's what

[Lisa] in Macbeth the witches are over

[Carissa] True, but this will be Macbeth with a twist. Who knows how closely it'll really follow the story?

[TMO] I don't know which we would have picked if left on our own. We were going in circles

[Lisa] they are an interlude that explains some stuff and then the characters keep moving on

[Carissa] Or is this a what-if he talked to the witches again and they corrected his interpretation?

[Lisa] and the thing is about Macbeth is right - he can't be killed by just anyone

[TMO] well, we're here for the shell, not Macbeth. The witches might have had something on that

[Carissa] I was set on battle. Then it seemed we had other choices and therefore battle wasn't the right one? I dunno.

[Lisa] I was thinking it would have to be like the bugbear king battle -

[Lisa] the npc had to do it so he could become king

[Carissa] Oh, I thought we were just being nice to Billy.

[Lisa] no otherwise Kel would have been the bugbear king

[TMO] sad thing is I barely remember much about that. Couldn't have named the guy, that's for sure.

[Lisa] the only reason I wanted witches was because of proximity and the teasing of info that would help in the battle - my intention at least was always to chat for a minute and then beat it to the battle

[Carissa] Yes, and I liked that idea. If only it was easier to reach them :)

[Carissa] Still not really coming up with anything else we could have done...

[Carissa] Can you burn magic fog away?

[Carissa] Fireball usually solves all things.

[Lisa] fireball is only a 20 ft radius and usually only deals max 40 pts damage

[Lisa] so even if it did it would get one heavily wounded - maybe?

[Lisa] and the 14 angry other ones

[TMO] no, I was hoping one of the giants would walk by Ilero, and he'd climb up its back and hold a dagger against it and ask for directions to the witches.

[Carissa] Going off the description for "Obscurement", the only thing it says is wind spell reduces length of spell by 75%... but doesn't say anything that removes it fully.

[TMO] because in Ilero's world - that's a sensible pan

[TMO] and if it did manage to reach behind it and grab and throw him, he has Tumbling

[Carissa] Well but with his rolls tonight...

[Carissa] Maybe... but again, we're backing into trying spells and hoping for the best. Not a bad thing when we know we'll be able to recoup spells, but when we have limits...

[TMO] it was like a choose your own path book, but the path we chose was a dead end.

[Lisa] I was hoping they would have said something else to help us

[Master] it was a good session overall lots of back and forth everyone was involved for the most part

[Master] and you have more options to try next session

[Lisa] I was debating having indigo or Branwyn surrender but they didn't respond to witches or who they were

[TMO] yep. I was trying to find the missing key that would have made it worthwhile

[TMO] no, we have less options. Glamis or battlefield. Witches has been picked and done.
