[Master] Drillian is unusual in its form of monarchy - Matriarchal Male Primogeniture. It is officially called the Kingdom of Drillian with the inheritance running the the male son. However the Queen is the ruler of the Kingdom and only a Queen can rule. This creates the dynamic that a Queen looks for the best woman for her son to marry and each noble house vying for the next chance to rule the Kingdom. Once in the past a Queen married her son to her own daughter but the other nobles rose up in arms over this scandal. The Queen's husband is called the Royal Consort and is officially barred from holding any office or serving in way outside of the royal family.
[Master] so during the Third Civil War over that, the treaty that ended the war they choose Bolpel as the family to become Queen
[valma-73412] I read that page, but it didn't explain why Bolpel was chosen
[valma-73412] except that they were the poorest
[Master] only because they are a poor noble family, their holdings are out in the middle of the deep swamps
[Master] so picking them becasue they were not one of the rich families that were part of the civil war
[Master] who paid for armies, etc
[Master] the best middle ground
[valma-73412] Ok makes sense. I thought there was some edict that only the poorest family could become queen, which I liked the idea of
[Master] It is always up to the current Queen to pick someone to replace her
[Master] the current Queen comes from a small family
[valma-73412] A place where a poor family can become queen and only a queen can rule is a place I want to be

[Spring] i also like the idea that economic conditions should be such that even the poorest family can be worthy to accommodate royalty. i.e. not much of a wealth gap

[Master] outside of her own Estate
[Master] so yes I did try to create something that would be complicated but fair

[Spring] back in the day, when laying siege, one way to break the siege was to have as many men as you could attack one spot of the wall and just pile their dying bodes on until someone made it over

[Spring] people who were broken hearted sometimes volunteered for that mission
