GM: First you should always go with what will make you happy first Sharif, then filling in a need for the group is second

seyfert: If I remember right, darts you have a small limited number. Sling you can at least "pick up rocks" and have "unlimited" ammunition to a degree. If you're going to do the acrobatic sneaky fighting, dagger should work fine. They aren't powerful, but thief/bards arne't supposed to be

Shislif: Is it silly to do both a sling and dart? Are they essentially the same?

GM: Carissa has a good point

MadamePsychosis: depends on what you can use and how you will feel in combat

Shislif: Sounds good thanks Seyfert, guess I'll go for the sling then

seyfert: It's usually better to focus on one range and one close weapon unless you are a fighter so that way you have a better chance of hitting and can put points on those.

GM: and glad you sorted it out Lisa

MadamePsychosis: not a fighter so I see where you don't want a battle axe or something ,but daggers and slings (I think) don't do a lot of damage

seyfert: Yeah, if you aren't planning to do a lot of distance shots, then darts are probably fine. Dagger you can also throw, but you'll have to retrieve it or get a dedicated set. Like Lisa says, it depends how you think you'll approach combat.

GM: LOL at Lisa with the "I go to attack the giant with a dagger" not being a fighter

Shislif: I'm thinking Sap is something that slows ppl down? Sounds useful

MadamePsychosis: will you get disappointed only getting a couple pts of damage for your hit

seyfert: I don't know anything about sap

LorieD: A staff or a polearm are never bad...and can double as a walking stick :)

GM: Sap is a useful weapon when in close quarters and trying to knock someone out

MadamePsychosis: yeah but dagger is the only weapon she knows how to use - I know what I'm getting into :P

Shislif: I mean probably, but I'm a Rogue so a dagger seems appropriate

Shislif: But I imagine if we're fighting as a group, that low dagger damage will be ok since others will presumably be doing stuff

GM: Very true, you are typically going to have a fighter like Talwin or Indigo around

seyfert: Typically (and no one says it HAS to be this way), you have the fighters doing the damage, the rogues doing the sneaking and lockpicking and trap finding, the clerics the healing and some fighting, and the squishy mages doing magic damage... from a distance (unless you're Branwyn).

GM: and you can have only two weapon skills, so you can use the other slots for more non-weapon proficiences

LemonyLemon: Yeah, so I opened my browser originally to catch up on stories and summary... and ended up shoe shopping. But I'm caught up on chat now at least, and no, Bixi doesn't want to go back and visit anyone. I'm debating between too much pressure to settle down and start a family kind of thing, or family is all gone so no reason to go back.

seyfert: Gnome has a long life span if i remember right

GM: 200+ years

LemonyLemon: Yeah, that's why I hadn't decided that yet. Because then I would have to work out what happened to them etc

seyfert: No rush on that. Half my backstores I decide months later or year

GM: and I can activate the Containers extension so that the stuff in a chest is listed as that, and you have the Chest on your character sheet or in the wagon, etc.

GM: I would say something along the lines of "4 small jars with lids" and "2 large jugs with stoppers for liquids"
