The group gathers at the Inn to open the portal to Hell. Gerry and the cook remain inside the Inn, but Gerry has sent the guests and all other staff away for their safety. The gates to the Inn are opened inward to block passage to the from the portal to the Inn and the portal, a large mirror like structure, will be opened in the space between the gate doors about 15 feet from the Mist where the group is anxiously waiting for whatever emerges. Branwyn and Jennevive start by placing themselves in the sunny area in order to summon the portal.
Talwin: Fives, what is the magical nature of demons and devils from hell? Are they inherently magical? Are their weapons?
Fives: Welp, that depends on what you're facing, of course. Your common grunt devil is about as magical as a peasant, just a lot uglier and way more dangerous. Some of 'em do still have a bit of what we call magic though, but usually pretty minor. The higher up the totem pole you go, the more 'magical' they get.
Talwin: Nods
Talwin: Thanks Fives. I'll drink this potion when we get into a firefight then...no pun intended
Fives: The guy we're targeting here is probably mid-range, maybe a bit higher. I don't really know where “Librarian's Assistant” falls in the Devil hierarchy.
Fives: But he could still have a troop of peasant devils on hand, or worse.
Talwin: Nods
Talwin: That is good to know. My potion will raise my defense, but not necessarily be as effective against magical creatures. The peasants on the other hand, I'll be good with

Fives: frowns at Talwin's phrase, and takes a step a half-pace further away from him.

Howard Plum casts Magic Missile at Baatezu Least Lemures 2 and 4, killing them.
BOB: Hell Hound 3 rushes out of the Portal free to run and rampage finally! He runs past into The Mist, where Bixi SMASHES him on the back with her Rod of Strength, moderately wounding it. It tries to breath fire on the N’laea but coughs and nothing comes out, so it bites her instead, lightly wounding her.
Baatezu Least Lemure 5 claws at Jennevive, lightly wounding her.

Hell Hound 1 comes out of the portal and breathes fire at Jennevive.
Baatezu Least Lemure 8 claws Branwyn.
Daphene tries to hit Hell Hound 3 with a knife but misses.
N'laea tries to use her Ring of Mammal Control against the Hell Hounds, but they resist the magic.

Fives tries to throw a hand axe at Hell Hound 1, but misses.
N'laea: is trying to not judge him. Yet.
Branwyn: Jenn, our friend is late. Think I might risk a bit of mist sickness until they arrive.
Branwyn: moves over the dead lemures to pass into the mist
