Chat Log List - 2024 02 17 - Mushroom Man - Formatted - Story

After a harrowing encounter with the Pod Chamber of Death, the party is left to pick up any stray marbles and pieces of sanity to screw back into their skulls. With their goal being, ahem, “Getting the Flippity-Jibbits Out” of here, they’re still required to conquer numerous waterslides while finding the correct ones to climb back up to the exit. Inconveniently, a couple of them have dropped their rations in favor of lightening their load in battle, so now they must claim the extra weight or pick and choose.

Vee Barlett: grabs her rations

Vee Barlett: Someone take some of these rations off me? Makes it harder to hit things.

Vee Barlett: Why they so heavy? Dried things ain't supposed to be so heavy.

Rothuss Carder: How many?

Vee Barlett: Hmm, how many can ya carry? Like 5?

Vee Barlett: Here. Someone takes these three from me.

Vee Barlett: holds out 3 rations

Rothuss Carder: I can take 3

Vee Barlett: Thanks. Guess I gotta make sure ya don't die then.

The southern passageway from this cut-stone chamber descends and turns in a very steep slope.

In this room, the river runs down through a massive grate in the floor, disappearing from sight in a splashing torrent.

Rothuss Carder: grumbles, not looking forward to doing this with what feels like a cracked rib.

Jericho: By the way, you look like Shit, don't put pressure on your left side. I'll get it patched up soon

By some miracle, they all still have the strength left to conquer the waterfall without slipping and misaligning any bones. Which they already do have, by the way, as Jericho deduces with his diagnostics— their fleet-footed, blade-wielding, swashbuckler of a bard seems to have suffered a blow to a left rib. Ignoring the pod juice and slime slowly drying on their skin, they joke about the comforts of civilization to lighten their spirits, but their Captain’s more business than usual and tells them to hush it.

Vee Barlett: Talk later. Let's get out. We're going with the footprints 'cause they likely know how to get out.

Jericho: Vee?

Jericho: Right!

Vee Barlett: points to the left passage

Jericho: Nods

MeLange: this path on the left then?

Vee Barlett: Melange and Levi, up front. I'll help with them hurt ones.

As always, they slowly filter into order under Vee’s management. Melange with his buckler and Levi with his gut instincts for directions lead the way, the priests hover around their most injured in preparation to heal, and said Captain takes the rear to make sure no sneaky entity attempts to ambush the vulnerable squishies sandwiched in between.

Jericho: At first reasonable moment Vee, we can orison them

MeLange: takes the lead, buckler in arm

Jericho: Just need some relative safety and a wee bit of time

Jericho: I don't want to move Rothuss and Lirt too far

Vee Barlett: Then do it now.

Jericho: Patting himself down

Jericho: murmuring

Jericho: God Rothuss

Jericho: Just one sec

Rothuss Carder: Ahhh... ow ow ow... I could have gone a lot longer without knowing how it feels to have a rib move back into place at high speed... Thanks buddy. MUCH better now.

Rothuss Carder: Let me take a look at those things while Jericho here is working over the others.

Vee Barlett: gathers up her rope while everyone figures things out.

They pause as Levi mentions the equipment they managed to retrieve from their previous battle with murderous cave mosquitoes and squishy mushroom pods. He takes the potion from Temperance and takes an adventurous swig, which gives him a tingly-zappy sensation that causes him to bounce around. Through her observations, Temperance concludes that it is a powerful healing potion that can ACTUALLY BE DIVIDED, THANK THE GODS. Whilst that’s taking place, Vee and Rothuss take a venture with the Fungal Staff. The latter decides it to be quite a nice poking device to irritate the Captain with, which results her spewing some vulgar variants of the word ‘mule’. Quite fortunate that Rothuss is the one holding her rations.

Levi Reed: Hey, who's got that potion we found? I'm feeling adventurous, let me try it. Maybe it murders all sentient fungus in a cave or something

Temperance: rummages in her pouch for said potion

Rothuss Carder: Who's got the staff and things? While I'm sitting here, let me take a look at them. Maybe I've heard something about them.

Jericho: Feeling a bit better Rothuss?

Jericho: I'd say you look better, but uh, you really don't

Vee Barlett: Er, well too late with the potion but I gave Brains the staff.

Temperance: hands off the staff to Rothuss

Rothuss Carder: Yeah, thanks again, buddy. That's twice now I owe you for.

Jericho: You don't owe me jack shit. I wasn' thte one getting slashed by over enthusiastic plant life

Rothuss Carder: holds the staff up and peers at it closely.

Levi Reed: takes potion from Temperance, dips a finger in, and sticks said finger in his mouth

BOB so Levi feels slightly bouncier, happier, healthier

Vee Barlett: Was it really good rum?

Levi Reed: bounces

Levi Reed: Hey, this is great!

Levi Reed: Doesn't taste like booze but still makes me feel good!

Temperance: nods, mentally recording the effects of the potion

Vee Barlett: Hmm, then might be good to keep when things get tough. Or now. Depends if ya think ya can keep going.

BOB similar to a Cure Light wounds, but three times as powerful

Levi Reed: Nah, I'm pretty ok right now

Temperance: It's certainly a healing potion. I believe it's similar to a priest's "Cure Light Wounds", but almost 3 times as powerful.

Levi Reed: Wow! Yeah, I definitely don't need that right now!

Levi Reed: But someone might...

Levi Reed: looks over at the bedraggled party

Vee Barlett: Hold on to it. You and Baby might need it.

Temperance: Perhaps we should prioritize some of our more wounded members.

Vee snatches the staff away from Rothuss and hands it to Temperance instead because she needs someone else who won’t use it as a tool to push her buttons. Said priestess feels power radiating from the staff when she holds it, so they agree to let her test it out. Who will be the guinea pig? Bouncy Levi or Vee’s newly-designated mule Rothuss? Neither, because no one’s sure their two priests are high level enough for proper resurrections, and they’ve dealt with enough pods. So Temperance takes a soft swing at the wall instead. There’s a resounding THUMP, but nothing happens. Perhaps a bigger swing? No, the staff must be magical in nature, and they’d rather not break it. The priestess is resolutely disappointed, but the mention of pod corpses being her test subjects lift her spirits.

Vee Barlett: And the staff? Any insight?

Vee Barlett: hands it back to Temperance

Temperance: holds it and attempts to rummage through her thoughts

Levi Reed: Temperance, hit me with the staff! Lightly

Temperance: furrows her eyebrows and tilts her head

Vee Barlett: Er, why not a wall instead?

Levi Reed: Oh

Vee Barlett: I'm hopin' it grows fungus.

BOB Temperance feels uncomfortable with the staff as she is not used to using that as a weapon, but it does feel powerful in her hands

Temperance: looks at the staff up and down

Vee Barlett: Yeah, so maybe don't hit Levi first. I mean, he deserves it, but not until we're outta the cave.

Levi Reed: Ok, now hit the wall with it. Gently.

Levi Reed: And if that doesn't do anything, then me

Levi Reed: God, Vee, why are you such a fun killer

Rothuss Carder: Big swing!

Vee Barlett: I'd vote Rothuss, actually, but whatever.

The time is 12:21 PM

Vee Barlett: Or we wait until we find a corpse to smack it with?

Temperance: takes a breath, pulls her arms back and takes a gentle swing towards the wall with the staff.

BOB Thunk

Vee Barlett: I gave ya two hours of fun in this cave, Levi. That's more than enough.

Temperance: Bigger swing?

Temperance: looks a bit hesitant

Levi Reed: Nah, we don't want to break it

BOB Yes if they are like a wand, no if they are like a weapon

Vee Barlett: Nah. We'll go find a corpse for you to poke it with. Let's just get going if y'all good to go.

Levi Reed: If it's going to do something magical, it doesn't matter how hard you hit

MeLange: I'm good to go!

Levi Reed: If you wanna bludgeon something with it, different story

MeLange raises hand

Vee Barlett: Lead the way, Babe.

Temperance: brightens at the thought of experimenting the effects of said staff on a corpse

Levi Reed: Back off, Vee, or I'll hit on your dads again

Vee Barlett: Nah, don't mean it as hittin' on him. Thought that was his new nickname.

MeLange: moves further north up following the stream

Vee Barlett: Or is there like...? Huh, we gonna need ta gossip once we get out.

After spending some time bantering and experimenting with the new items, the crew is off in their line. Levi’s hearing some rustling ahead, which flinches everyone back into combat mode. Guess what the tracks lead them into? Some cat-sized pods, at least 100 pod juniors not yet hatched, and one ogre pod with its bodyguard. What is this, a pod mafia? Levi instinctively nopes the heck out before he’s detected.

-> Levi Reed: hears rustling up ahead

MeLange: right behind ya Babe!

Levi Reed: Hey anyone hear that?

Levi Reed: Some kind of rustling noise?

Temperance: frowns and holds the staff tighter

Vee Barlett: listens with her successful obs roll

BOB Vee does not hear anything over Rothuss and Jericho's loud breathing

MeLange: like trees?

MeLange: like outside?

Vee Barlett: annoyingly mutters "Mouthbreathers."

Vee Barlett: Can't hear anything back here, but we know there were footprints up this way so just keep an eye out.

Levi Reed: mutters "dead ends or dead friends" and keeps going

Temperance: mumbles a prayer, even though it hasn't gotten her too far yet

Lirtimya: So we don't follow the tracks, and we meet a whole group of them, I wonder what we'll find here

There are over 100 pods in this large hall.

Vee Barlett: The track probably lead us out, but keep close.

Levi Reed: Backs up and hopes he wasn't seen

BOB growing over a hundred very young pods in this chamber. Although the pods are full sized, most of the unformed pod-men within are no larger than a house cat, and their contents are not remotely formed into a humanoid shape. All the pods contain a foul glop that smells of fish

BOB pod men are tending the cavern, and they are supervised by one very large pod man the size of an ogre.

Levi Reed: There's at least one large pod in there

Levi Reed: But like... a LOT man

MeLange: ugh

Temperance: So one large pod... with a lot of other pods?

Levi Reed: Smells like fish and... I don't know, I think it's a breeding groud or something

Temperance: attempts to clarify information

MeLange: So I guess we're not getting out that way

MeLange says in a low voice

Levi Reed: There's some regular pod men in there... at least one huge pod guy... and a bunch of... goopy babies, I don't know

Rothuss Carder: how long is the hallway?

Vee Barlett: How many regular ones?

MeLange: like they're raising an army or something

Vee Barlett: So we should stomp out the army before they actually become fighters.

MeLange: be a lot of stomping

Levi Reed: I saw two but... looks like a big cavern, there could be more, I don't know

Vee Barlett: Agree but... ain't sure how we're gonna get out the other way with them piranhas and waterslide and waterfall.

Levi Reed: One is really huge though guys

Rothuss Carder: sighs.

Levi Reed: The biggest one yet

Vee Barlett: So we know at least two of 'em can fight, yeah?

Rothuss Carder: Well... I got 1 spell. Makes me run *really* fast for a bit. I could use it, run all the way thru yelling blue murder.

Rothuss Carder: They chase after me, you all break the pods.

Vee Barlett: Hmm....

Vee Barlett: I'm thinkin' if Levi is all sneaky sneaky, maybe he can get a better look?

Rothuss Carder: And then I hide somewhere, or keep running.

Vee Barlett: And maybe instead of running, ya hype us up a bit first?

MeLange: as long as I don't get ensnared again, I could fight

BOB Or just maybe valuable intel to take back to the church of the mists if you can sneak/fight your way past

Rothuss Carder: looks closely at Vee...

Vee Barlett: Yer stories. They make me wanna, like, REALLY kill things.

Rothuss Carder: Vee... do you *really* need my help getting hyped up to gut all those pods?

MeLange: So this stream is basically just a toilet?

Temperance: Water pollution is merely great for breeding diseases and sickness

Rothuss Carder: Levi, MeL, Temperance, Lirt... You saw what we just went through over just a dozen of those things. In there's a HUNDRED of them. Think of what they could do on the surface.

Vee Barlett: Toilet for them slimy pod things so we gotta kill 'em.

Vee Barlett: They cut yer love short, Melange. Can't let that happen.

Temperance: grimaces at the thought of pods on land

MeLange: alright, well it ain't over till it's over then

Rothuss Carder: We're here, we're what's available, and they'll never be more vulnerable than they are now.

Vee Barlett: We got healin' shots now, too. We can do this.

Rothuss Carder: Vee, if you put Lirt right next to you, you can use your spear to hold off one or two while she uses her Burning Hands on them once, while you protect her.

Lirtimya: I'lll stay safe, if they get too close I'll burn 'em

Vee Barlett: nods

Temperance: If we can avoid any slippery oil, I suppose...

Vee Barlett: That's the plan. SHE'S worth my protection.

Temperance: Lirt can take a sip of the potion?

BOB You have two shots left of the potion

Rothuss Carder: Okay, look. I run in there, super fast speed, yelling, hooting, whatever. I stay out of their reach. They all focus on me and chase me. You all quietly come in once they're away and smash pods without anyone to block ya.

Rothuss Carder: And then we wing it from there, if I hide, or lead them back to you, or you start picking them off from the rear. Whatever works.

Levi Reed: Sounds risky. I'm in

Vee Barlett: Yer hide. Ya want to take a healin' shot?

Rothuss Carder: Love to!

Vee Barlett: nods to whoever has the potion to hand it to him

MeLange: ok let's get ready to smash

Rothuss Carder: If there's one thing I know how to do, it's distract.

The time is 12:31 PM

Though Levi’s reports have them weary and exhausted (ANOTHER POD CHAMBER? ANOTHER ONE?), they decide that Pod Mafia’s gotta go if they’re gonna get out of here like they planned. Lirtimya and Rothuss each take a sip of the healing potion, and in return the latter decides to show the rest of the party how fast his zoomies are. Combined with his voice throwing, it’ll distract the pods enough to where everyone else can stab shank slice smush no problem.

Turns out, Rothuss’ zoomies are amazing. So amazing, in fact, that the slow-witted pod men are questioning their nonexistent brains whether it was a warm body or just a hallucination. Fudge Biscuits. How can a plan work so well it doesn’t work? The rest of the crew bide their time with attacking, unwilling to jump in too hastily. Jericho questions whether squishing baby pods to death is a war crime; the others point out that they’re squishing heirs to the future Pod Mafia and shouldn’t think too deeply about it.

Pod 1 is impressed that its meal can also entertain, and SLAMS him into the adjacent wall as a way to stake its claim. OOMPH. Underling attempts to go on the offensive with Levi, but its movements are sluggishly clumsy. It trips, causing it to flounder into thin air.

So far, things are going… not smoothly, but better than the crew anticipates. The Underling pod meets a tragic end as it projectiles off and SPLATTERS against the cavern wall, staining it with pod goop. You can say Melange and his Axe were NOT PLEASED that the Underling had dared to even LOOK at Levi sideways. BUT MEL WATCH OUT— too late. Dealing with that smaller, more immediate threat leaves him open and vulnerable to the LOOMING OGRE OF A POD behind him, who shows the rest of the party what’s going to happen if they kill off any more of its underlings. The party freezes as Melange becomes forcibly airborne until— OOMPH! With a sickening snap-crackle, poor Mel falls like a rag doll to the floor of the cavern on the other side.

Nope, he’s all the way across the cavern, and she’s not even close enough to see the battle. Move up and use arrows? Maybe, but the Ogre Pod’s not going to go down easy— WAIT! The fungal staff is still pulsating, albeit a bit too intensely for her liking, so she takes the risk and points it towards the cavern.

With its attention diverted to Jericho’s rock, Levi grips his machetes as tightly as he can and HACKS AWAY at the Pod’s gloopy skin. It roars with irritation as fishy liquid oozes from its wounds.

Temperance breathes out a sigh of relief, closes her eyes, and eases herself into a meditative state to drown out the pandemonium about to take place in the cavern. Rothuss streaks back, exchanges a high-five with Vee to switch places, and takes over in disciplining the pod that dared to disrespect her. He’s too careful with his blade and misses. Punishment in the Name of Peace™ goes SWOOSH past the frozen Godfather Pod, whilst Vee nonchalantly ambles over to an unconscious Melange and shoves the last of the healing potion down his throat. Whew! Sleeping Beauty’s awake.

This room contains three forty-gallon vats standing on low stone tripods. A slow fire burns beneath one of the great cauldrons, which is giving off wisps of greenish steam from the liquid within. Near the vats, a single six-foot pod hangs from the ceiling; unlike all the other pods found in the cavern complex, this one is a fleshy reddish pink, and has pulsing green veins running across its surface. The room also contains a long worktable, its surface covered with untidy piles of parchment notes.

The pod contains a human who is being converted into a pod man by the Shroom.

The worktable is covered in sheaves of parchment written in a strange, spidery hand.

The tunnel opens up into a large cavern with strange contents. Four cages of a strange, fleshy substance seem to grown from the stone floor along the southern wall, and roughly in the center of the room stands a large wooden box with a funnel on top and a spout at the bottom. The box is connected to a small water wheel that turns with the river's flow.

This chamber is lit by glowing moss that hangs from the ceiling in long, frilled strands. Nine trees are growing here, their roots constrained in large earthenware pots. Each tree stands about nine feet tall, and the pots are arranged in three neat rows of three. The floor is grooved, causing channels of water to flow beneath each tree pot, obviously an irrigation system. A low, angry muttering sound fills the room.

Vee Barlett: nods to herself and backtracks to go north.

At this point the river's flow turns a small wooden waterwheel. The wheel is attached by a couple of direction-changing gears to a large wooden box at the river's edge. At the top of the box, there is a funnel, and at the bottom there is a spout positioned to allow a container to be placed underneath. A clicking and creaking noise comes from inside the box.

Ratbone Carder: And you, and you, you can do anything! You are dtermined and headstrong

Ratbone Carder: And you, you arent deterred by anything!

Ratbone Carder: With friends like you, we never will go wrong!

Ratbone Carder: strummy strum strum

Ropy pillars of fungus grow from ceiling to floor here, ranging from one to four feet in diameter.

Ratbone Carder: dun dun DUN!!!!

Temperance: glances at the spot and shakes her head, grimacing at the deja vu

There is a four-way intersection here. In the middle of the intersection a large growth of wood, apparently of natural origin, divides the flow of the river into three parts, diverting it so that a channel of water runs down the center of the other tunnels, all of which slope gradually downward from this point.

Vee Barlett: keeps heading north

Concealed by the waterfall's flow, there is a wooden-runged ladder, apparently formed by natural growth of roots, leading down the cliff face where the waterfall normally flows. It is easy to descend this ladder.

Temperance: continues to follow

There is another small keyhole at the bottom of the waterfall.

Vee Barlett: Brains, you got the key still?

Temperance: Yes, I believe I do!

The tunnel down into the caverns winds along a narrow and uneven path, following the river's natural course. Stalactites hang low from the ceiling, and the rock floor is treacherously slippery from the splashing water. The subterranean air has a placid, piercing chill, all too familiar to veteran adventurers. Suddenly, the river-carven tunnel slopes abruptly downward, and just ahead there is the unmistakable sound of a waterfall dashing down to rocks below.

Ratbone Carder: Together we can vanquich most anything! (that is sufficiently low level)

BOB Yes the rope is here

Vee Barlett: climbs the rope back up

Ratbone Carder: We are mighty! And our smiles are brighty!

Temperance: stretches a bit and checks herself for any minor scratches or injury

BOB In order Cathedral (Osterhold and others) then Temple (orange sunset is where you have worked out of) then Church (Church of the Mists like where you are going) then Shrines (like the one in your town)

BOB So You are on a mission from your Temple that Jericho owes a favor to, to go to the Church of the Mists

BOB Next is where you are now

BOB you are on the path to the Church of the Mists, (you are going there because of Jericho and he will fill you in on what he was supposed to be doing)

BOB The group was walking up the path towards the Church of the Mists when you encountered a landslide. Rothuss went to explore the landslide and found that a cave had been opened up and there was some scraps of clothing that looked like clothing from a priest. You went in to explore and see what you could find.

BOB You explored some got beaten up badly and retreated to fishing hut for the day and night to recover. Then you came back to the caves to explore some more. Leading to the going much much deeper into the caves, etc. and you finally almost 7 hours hours later you make it up out of the caves again.

BOB You still have your original mission of go to the Church of the Mists and find out why the supplies have not arrived at the Temple

BOB This is the third day so you still have plenty of time

Vee Barlett: Merithina? Are you from these parts? We're tryin' to get up to that church but there's a landslide.

Vee Barlett: You all need a healer and we're all tapped out.

Merithina: I was traveling from the Church of the Mists south to sell our goods

Merithina: We came down from the mountains, I think it was ... days? a week? how long were we down there?

Vee Barlett: Dunno as we've only been up this way for maybe three?

Vee Barlett: Temple sent us to see what happened.

Merithina: Our caravan was waylaid by goblins and while we were fighting them these creatures threw bags of gas at us

Merithina: Thuskar was not in the group, I had thought he escaped

BOB No she does not recognize it, but would be unlikely. Osterhold is the center part, you are in the Western district, she said she is from the eastern district

Vee Barlett: Well that's all good an' interesting, don't mind hearin' more, but we still gotta get up to the church. You know any back paths that way?

Merithina: I have only ever traveled up and down the roads, this road was never like this before

Aien Mountainbane: Where did you come from?

Vee Barlett: Temple of Orange Sunsets. They wanna know where their supplies is.

Vee Barlett: Then we found a cave and all the nasties in it and that's why we're here to warn ya.

Aien Mountainbane: At the bottom of the mountain

Vee Barlett: Landslide slowed us down, too.

Aien Mountainbane: Tell me why you came here from the Temple of Orange Sunsets?

Vee Barlett: 'Cause they want their supplies as I said. They ain't get it yet.

Aien Mountainbane: But why you? You are a pirate

Rothuss Carder: He's perceptive

Levi Reed: Nah, her family business is EXTREMELY upstanding

Temperance: She was accompanying us on our journey

Vee Barlett: First off, rude. You don't accuse people of things.

Vee Barlett: And second off, no. They asked Jericho.

Vee Barlett: And he is, well, squishy, so he asked his friends to help.

Temperance: To help with any challenges that might be in the way

Aien Mountainbane: So they did not get any of our messages

Vee Barlett: Not unless they arrived in our three days of travel.

Levi Reed: If they did, they didn't tell us that

Aien Mountainbane: Very well

Rothuss Carder: I'm sure they wouldn't have not told us everything we needed to know.

Vee Barlett: kicks back her feet and looks for her drink to take a swig

Levi Reed: Um... we found an army of mushroom people being grown

Aien Mountainbane: frowns, Point to Rothuss, What was the hardest thing you fought?

Rothuss Carder: Hmmm...

Rothuss Carder: The goblins out here weren't too tough, really. Just numbers of them. Probably the Pod man mushroom guy who broke a couple of my ribs and rearranged a few of my internal organs. Temporarily, I hope. It still hurts.

Aien Mountainbane: Hmmmm

Aien Mountainbane: Looks at Melange, Why would you stay with these people?

Rothuss Carder: There was the Pod Man the size of an ogre, but I didn't actually fight him.

MeLange: Hmmm? Why not?

Rothuss Carder: What was it, 12 foot tall or so?

MeLange: Big, that's for sure

Ratbone Carder: at least

Rothuss Carder: I mean, big enough to throw MeL here across the cavern.

MeLange: What else is there for me to do?

Aien Mountainbane: frowns, So why would you travel with a pirate? looking at Lirt

Vee Barlett: Again with them accusations and no proof.

MeLange: that wasn't fun

MeLange: Don't care if she's a pirate, care if she's got my back in battle, and she does

Lirtimya: Because Cap'n here is my friend, and I wouldn't exactly call us pirates, we're returning supplies, not stealing them aren't we?

Vee Barlett: drinks her drink and says nothing

Rothuss Carder: So you're saying you're just bad at piracy?

Aien Mountainbane: Looking at Ratbone, who would you save out of this lot?

Ratbone Carder: That's not helping!

Ratbone Carder: jabs him with her elbow

Rothuss Carder: grimaces away the bruised ribs

Ratbone Carder: Can't people from pirate families be uninterested in piracy?

Ratbone Carder: And do something else instead?

Ratbone Carder: Like help their churchy friends?

Aien Mountainbane: waiting for Ratbone's answer to his question

Aien Mountainbane: Looks over Temperance, How is the church served by these people?

Temperance: thinks carefully over the question

Temperance: Are you asking how non-priests serve the church? And if so, which church?

Aien Mountainbane: He is quiet and takes a drink from his goblet, waiting to hear her answer

Rothuss Carder: sips at his drink and watches Alen.

Ratbone Carder: Isn't it everyone's duty to serve the gods? And therefore by proxy serve the church sometimes?

Ratbone Carder: We are good friends, and we serve each other

Ratbone Carder: so it's only right to help our friends who serve the church professionally yes?

Temperance: Without any specificities it would be difficult to answer properly. But I do know the Captain and the rest of us went through a cave full of fungal podmen at the Temple's request

MeLange: Like we're friends, but there are also benefits

Aien Mountainbane: The church asked you to go into caves full of ..... fungal podmen.... ?

Vee Barlett: Nah, they only asked us to come here. But as I said, it's been a long three days. Give her a break, she's still learnin'

Ratbone Carder: I don't think the church knows about the fungal podmen. They were a hazard on the way

Levi Reed: We were hoping there was a way around the landslide through there. But there... wasn't

Ratbone Carder: points at Levi

Rothuss Carder: So, how long have people been disappearing and getting kidnapped around here, anyways?

Aien Mountainbane: Ahhh

Levi Reed: And what are you going to do about the fungal army?

Ratbone Carder: Pointing at brother

Levi Reed: And maybe you can give us some kind of documentation to take back to Orange Sunsets so they know we did their bidding

Vee Barlett: Ain't safe on these roads at night if ya don't know that by now.

Rothuss Carder: And checking up on our friends we rescued. Make sure they're doing alrigth.

Ratbone Carder: and you got your cavern system full of ugly mushrooms. AND you got your goblins too

Rothuss Carder: I'm sure they'd appreciate it.

Aien Mountainbane: Ever since the Full Moons something different has been stalking the forests

Levi Reed: Goblins are a natural hazard. This fungal stuff... something creepy

Vee Barlett: It's a mushroom man. He's growin' an army from kidnappin's

Aien Mountainbane: We have lost 17 priests from the Church

Ratbone Carder: holy moly

Temperance: Seventeen priests... quite a number, then

Ratbone Carder: whoa. i mean whoa

Levi Reed: 17 and you didn't send for help?

Aien Mountainbane: Well members of the Church not all of them were a member of a circle

Rothuss Carder: Takes a sip.

Aien Mountainbane: That is why we did not send anyone south

Aien Mountainbane: Minor raids to start

Vee Barlett: How'd you send your messages then?

Aien Mountainbane: then a landslide

Ratbone Carder: but you did send messages somehow

Rothuss Carder: Ever think to check to see if someone in the Church was working with them? Right under a church is a strange place to try and build an army.

Ratbone Carder: semaphore? blinky lights?

Rothuss Carder: But it makes a great story.

Aien Mountainbane: and we sent out a group of 6 who disappeared entirely

Levi Reed: Hate to break it to you, but they're probably mushrooms by now

Levi Reed: Or dead. We killed a lot of mushrooms

Ratbone Carder: makes a mind blown gesture at Rothuss

Aien Mountainbane: Then we sent 2 more higher level priests with guards to head south and we never heard back

Levi Reed: In our defense, we tried to talk to them, but they just started in on the murderin

MeLange: can't decide if it all makes me want to eat mushrooms more... or less

Vee Barlett: It's a mad alchemist lab in those caves, and we only seen parts of it. Whatever that thing is, we hobbled it, but ain't sure for how long.

Vee Barlett: We only came to talk to y'all about the shipment. We didn't come to clear caves so we did what we could before we had to get out.

Vee Barlett: So. You're welcome.

MeLange: threw me clear across the room

Aien Mountainbane: I will want to get better full reports from all of you about this

Levi Reed: I'd suggest you set us up to get back to our temple so they can send help... but... they're pretty selfish, honestly, not sure they'll send help.

Vee Barlett: Full reports in return for us gettin' healed and sleep, yeah?

Ratbone Carder: and foods?

Aien Mountainbane: Eventually we will need to clear away that landslide

MeLange: maybe you'll have to make it about them then

MeLange: don't forget food Vee

Aien Mountainbane: a place to stay, a few good warm meals as you stay with us

Vee Barlett: holds up her drink

MeLange: maybe a massage would be nice too

Aien Mountainbane: and you should be back to normal soon,

Aien Mountainbane: well

Vee Barlett: That sounds good. Guess I need food, too.

Rothuss Carder: I'm a bad influence on you, Mel.

Vee Barlett: She gonna be okay?

MeLange: I think massages are good influence hehe

Aien Mountainbane: Raises an eyebrow looking at Vee

Vee Barlett: She was in there for awhile in some weird... pod thing. Ain't sure if it affected her physically. Definitely mentally, I'm sure.

Aien Mountainbane: Ahh

Aien Mountainbane: we will take care of everyone that we can

Ratbone Carder: It's her companion

Levi Reed: And what will you do with the ones that you can't take care of?

Ratbone Carder: She's really been upset over Thuskar

MeLange Looks at Aien

Aien Mountainbane: Guests who have a lot to report on

Rothuss Carder: oof. that sounds boring.

Levi Reed: I can do it, I like talking

Ratbone Carder: We perform

Vee Barlett: Fine. If ya feed me and give me a place to sleep, I'll stay for a bit. But when I want out, I'm gettin' out.

MeLange: All of us? Surely Jeri can just summarize for us all

Temperance: I can write if necessary

Ratbone Carder: Rothuss, you can be a mushroom guy and I'll be a goblin

Vee Barlett: And some of them really like talkin'

Aien Mountainbane: I need written reports, not an intrepretive dance

Vee Barlett: covers a laugh
