Chat Log List - 2024 05 10 - Bear Went Over the Mountain - Formatted - Story

Violette Snipes: That was interesting

Vee Barlett: The lizard lady?

Violette Snipes: Yeah

Violette Snipes: I have never met one like that

Vee Barlett: Yar, but at least she be helpful.

Rothuss Carder: I liked it!

Vee Barlett: I ain't known such folk existed.

Rothuss Carder: In stories they do, maybe there's a bit more truth to them than I thought.

Violette Snipes: LIzard people are here in the Bowl but I have not met any up close

Vee Barlett: The bowl?

Violette Snipes: Here inside the mountains

Vee Barlett: Huh, guess that makes sense.

Levi Reed: Like a toilet?

Looking around

Violette Snipes: Not a bad sight for me

MeLange: the bowl with the lizard

Vee Barlett: Still too much land, but that's unavoidable.

Vee Barlett: The bowl with what lizard?

Levi Reed: Your toilet has a lizard?

MeLange: not a toilet

MeLange: just like a bowl, it had a lizard wrapped around it and bones inside

Temperance: Ah, the offering bowl inside the hut?

Vee Barlett: I didn't see a lizard. You on shrooms?

MeLange: Don't know what it means, but seems like a thing

MeLange: probably

Vee Barlett: Huh, well alright then. Just checkin'

MeLange smiles

Temperance: You can see spirits if you eat mushrooms?

Temperance: furrows her brows.

Temperance: Interesting...

Levi Reed: Depends on the mushroom

Rothuss Carder: grimaces.

Vee Barlett: I doubt Tempe has ever dabbled in that stuff.

Rothuss Carder: I don't think that's very reliable.

Temperance: Interesting mushrooms, if they get you seeing things like that. Sounds like some magical effect.

Vee Barlett: Ain't just mushrooms that do that if ya ever bored.

Vee Barlett: I mean, not all of it recommended, but you can find it if ya look for it.

Temperance: Perhaps a bit later, when we're not traveling and trying to survive.

Vee Barlett: laughs

Vee Barlett: Oh man, we gonna have fun later. Maybe if we get to Osterhold. I know a guy.

Temperance: perks up.

Temperance: I'll need to find someone willing to take them to test the effects.

Vee Barlett: Nah, gotta be you or what's the point?

Vee Barlett: Although I bet Levi would volunteer...

Vee Barlett: Then again, he already seein' things and I don't think he had any shrooms lately...

Temperance: Well, he did name the... um, monkey?

Violette Snipes: What sort of mushrooms are you thinking of finding?

Vee Barlett: The trippy kind. I only got it from a supplier. I ain't ever tried to find any myself.

Vee Barlett: Levi. Levi was the supplier. Usually.

Temperance: furrows her brows.

Temperance: Trippy?

Violette Snipes: I have not tried that

Temperance: Do they make you trip?

Vee Barlett: Yar, the kind that makes you see things like we was talkin' about

Temperance: Oh, is that what they're called?

Vee Barlett: Nah, just what the effect is called.

Vee Barlett: Man, we all gonna have a party later!

MeLange: I'll attend!

Vee Barlett: holds up hand for high five

MeLange: slaps the five

Temperance: Hm... strangely I'm feeling more ambivalent about this then before.

Temperance: But well... I suppose if it's fun...

Rothuss Carder: I'll keep an eye on you if you want. I've seen 'em go bad.

Temperance: Is that so? I didn't plan on consuming them myself, but I do appreciate you looking out for me.

Temperance: A mushroom that makes you see things and trip... curious....

Vee Barlett: Only fun if ya join in....

Temperance: I'll think about it.

Vee Barlett: Well ya got time to since I ain't sure when we'll be headin' back to shore and I ain't know anyone up here to find some...

Temperance: As you say, "too much land"

Vee Barlett: Yar.

The date is Pen____se, 24th Ze (Summer), 587 SGR

Young Moon's phase is Last Quarter

Old Moon's phase is Waxing Gibbous

The time is 10:53 AM

Violette Snipes: We should be to the shore by Noon

Vee Barlett: What's the plan once we get to shore?

Temperance: I recall something about diving?

Violette Snipes: To see if we can find a way out to the ship

Vee Barlett: The ship? Pearl near there?

Violette Snipes: Yes

Vee Barlett: This the crashed ship or different ship?

Violette Snipes: I think just a ship?

Violette Snipes: Not sure what the difference is

Violette Snipes: How can you tell why or how a ship crashed

Rothuss Carder: Why did it wreck?

Violette Snipes: It has always been there

Rothuss Carder: Huh.

MeLange: always?

Vee Barlett: Any legend behind it?

Violette Snipes: As long as I have known it

Lirtimya: If the weather is known for having strong winds or strong or quick tides maybe it just naturally ended up there

MeLange: well something would still have to cause the ship to sink, I would think

Violette Snipes: Most of the ship is visible

Lirtimya: Maybe sharp rocks or coral

Rothuss Carder: Nothing to say whose ship it was?

MeLange: hmm interesting

Vee Barlett: I wonder where it came from...

Violette Snipes: I am not sure

Violette Snipes: for who it was or when or where

Vee Barlett: It's waterfalls up to the mountain, yeah? What path could it take to get to the lake? Although guess maybe if it had a powerful mage it could be lifted...

Lirtimya: Would it be able to get there from the sea? Or would it be one of your, flying ships?

MeLange: cool

BOB moving downhill

Temperance: An airborne ship. Sounds like it would be an alternative to braving the waves.

Vee Barlett: Yeah, but if ya fall from the sky, you gonna die.

Violette Snipes: I cannot imagine

Temperance: But you also drown if you lose balance on a ship during a storm...

Temperance: I suppose both have shortcomings.

Vee Barlett: Nah, only if ya can't swim or don't know how to handle water.

Vee Barlett: Least ya got a chance with water.

Temperance: I'm glad you have that kind of confidence to handle the water.

Temperance: smiles lightly.

Vee Barlett: Can't be a sailor unless ya got some.

BOB: and so you come out of the jungles on the path there along those headlands, slight cliffs

BOB: but you can see to your east there are encampments along the edge of the lake

Image: Lake Edge

BOB very large tents

BOB You have a river delta that is dried up at the moment

BOB and the emcampment on the edge of that

BOB and way out in the lake is the shipwrck

BOB 1,000 feet out to the wreck

BOB Encampment to the east beyond those hills

Vee Barlett: Encampments?

Rothuss Carder: follows along, looking out into the lake at the wreck.

Temperance: moves away from the ledge to follow along.

Lirtimya: Follows Vee

Vee Barlett: [SKILL] Observation [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 12) [SUCCESS by 1] [d20 = 11]

Temperance: [SKILL] Observation [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 13) [SUCCESS by 5] [d20 = 8]

Lirtimya: [SKILL] Observation [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 16) [SUCCESS by 8] [d20 = 8]

Temperance: [SKILL] Botany [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 13) [SUCCESS by 3] [d20 = 10]

MeLange: [SKILL] Alertness [MOD:WIS] (vs. Target 10) [SUCCESS by 2] [d20 = 8]

Violette Snipes: So Vee, Temp, Lirt, and Mel all notice that this area seems to be fairly quiet of animals, birds, etc.

MeLange: Not many animals about

Temperance: A bit quiet, yes.

BOB: Unlike the jungle where there was lots of noise here is very little other than some gulls, that Vee associates with wider water

BOB: The plants here are similar to what Temp saw in the mountain coming down

MeLange: Good point Violette, eerily silent here

Voloshee Highprofit: WOA WOA WOA who goes there

Vee Barlett: Least there are gulls. Those are nice.

Temperance: At least the plant life is consistent from up in the mountains. No giant flowers yet.

Vee Barlett: Who you?

Kurt Reicke: Nah it is just a bunch of kids, don't scare them off

Temperance: raises an eyebrow.

Voloshee Highprofit: Who says they are kids?

Kurt Reicke: Look at them! Barely out of their knickers

Vee Barlett: Says who??

Rothuss Carder: Your mama got me out my knickers.

Voloshee Highprofit: See Fiesty, they can bite

Voloshee Highprofit: LAUGHS

Vee Barlett: Yeah I can.

Voloshee Highprofit: He has you there Kurt

Kurt Reicke: Look I am just saying let the kids come in and then they are easier to deal wtih

Vee Barlett: Depends how ya plan to deal with us.

Violette Snipes: I ahh, not us we are

Voloshee Highprofit: Don't give away the racket Kurt, geeeeze

Voloshee Highprofit: Next you will be telling them all our secret trails

Kurt Reicke: Nah these kids can't afford that

Violette Snipes: Uhhh you know we can hear you?

Rothuss Carder: Secret trails? how hard is it to walk between some bushes?

Vee Barlett: whispers to Violette, "Who ARE these idiots??"

Kurt Reicke: Good so you have ears

Kurt Reicke: So why are you kids here?

Vee Barlett: And you have a mouth.

Voloshee Highprofit: Sigh

Rothuss Carder: We're here to listen to the grouchy bushes. Keep going...

Voloshee Highprofit: I am Voloshee, That is Kurt

Voloshee Highprofit: sorry he interupted you

Rothuss Carder: Rothuss.

MeLange: Hi Voloshee, Hi Kurt

Vee Barlett: Finally gettin' somewhere. Why you here?

MeLange: I'm MeLange

Voloshee Highprofit: We live here

Voloshee Highprofit: Well hide here

Vee Barlett: Yeah?

Voloshee Highprofit: You can't see us right?

Temperance: From what?

MeLange: what are you hiding from?

Voloshee Highprofit: Exactly

Kurt Reicke: NOW who is talking too much

Vee Barlett: [SKILL] Observation [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 12) [FAILURE by 2] [d20 = 14]

Vee Barlett: squints around

Vee Barlett: Nope. I see nothin'

Temperance: [SKILL] Observation [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 13) [FAILURE by 7] [d20 = 20]

Lirtimya: Hiding generally only works if you're quiet as well

Vee Barlett: But the water be prettier to look at anyways.

Lirtimya: [SKILL] Observation [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 16) [SUCCESS by 9] [d20 = 7]

BOB Lirt does not see anyone

Vee Barlett: Nice trick, tho. Since we can't see ya, why can't ya tell us what yer hidin' from?

Lirtimya: Well, at least your hiding is good

Kurt Reicke: Shhhhh

Voloshee Highprofit: Oh come on you already told them we are here

Rothuss Carder: walks farther forward along the path, just to see what happens.

MeLange: <Whispers> what are we hiding from?

Temperance: shrugs her shoulders.

Temperance: Hard to tell when the bushes are talking.

Vee Barlett: Moonshine? Stealin'? Pissed off the wrong guy?

Temperance: whispers back.

Vee Barlett: Sirens? Selkies? Lots of options here.

MeLange: hard world out there

Voloshee Highprofit: OOOO Selkies

Rothuss Carder: peers into a bush.

Voloshee Highprofit: You are looking for them?

Kurt Reicke: You told me to be quiet

Vee Barlett: I heard they was up this way. Lookin' at the ship but happy to hear what's up here.

Voloshee Highprofit: Look maybe they can deal with this curse

Kurt Reicke: Woud you just shut up

Temperance: Curse?

Lirtimya: A curse?

Voloshee Highprofit: Look, it has been over three weeks

Vee Barlett: The curse a runnin' mouth or somethin' else?

BOB Roth can make an observation or alertness check

Lirtimya: Vee, the legend, don't they usually come with a curse of sorts as a reason not to go looking?

Vee Barlett: Eh, everythin' does to keep nosy people away. Ain't always true.

Lirtimya: Still worth keeping in mind

Rothuss Carder: [CHECK] Wisdom (vs. Target 9) [FAILURE by 8] [d20 = 17]

BOB So Rothuss gets SLAPPED by bushes as he starts to move forward

Temperance: jumps at the slapping sound

Rothuss Carder: sputters and staggers backward.

Lirtimya: I think he found them

Vee Barlett: Hmm, probably deserved it....

Temperance: You alright?

Rothuss Carder: checks to see if he's alright.

BOB Seems to be

Rothuss Carder: Yeah, think so.

Temperance: How many fingers am I holding up?

Temperance: holds up three fingers.

Rothuss Carder: tries to peer into the bush again, ready to dodge branches.

Rothuss Carder: without looking, calls back 'Four!'

BOB Does not see anything but bush

Temperance: Well, at least he's alert.

Rothuss Carder: tries to move past the bush again.

Rothuss Carder: ready to duck

Vee Barlett: Maybe they cursed to be bushes.

BOB Nothing

Rothuss Carder: Maybe it was the wind.

Voloshee Highprofit: See told you she might be smart

Kurt Reicke: I said they were kids

Kurt Reicke: you did not say they were smart

Voloshee Highprofit: I hoped

Vee Barlett: If ya stab a bush, does it scream?

Voloshee Highprofit: Yes

Vee Barlett: Well that's a lousy curse. How'd it happen?

Kurt Reicke: Maybe

Vee Barlett: I mean I suppose for some ain't bad, but can ya even move?

Voloshee Highprofit: We can't tell you all our secrets

Rothuss Carder: They annoyed a tired deity, so it made them bushed?

Kurt Reicke: Just how stupid do you think they are?

Vee Barlett: That's fine. Sure a beaver will find ya soon enough.

Vee Barlett: looks at Rothuss

Vee Barlett: What.

Voloshee Highprofit: What is a beaver?

Vee Barlett: They eat bark off trees and bushes, knock 'em over and build dams.

Rothuss Carder: Bushed. Tired. You know, they mean the same thing.

Voloshee Highprofit: Oh like big otters?

Lirtimya: Maybe this curse is they are the bush?

Vee Barlett: Beavers only jerks to trees, tho

Vee Barlett: And bushes. Anythin' with bark.

Kurt Reicke: See not all of them are that smart

Rothuss Carder: strolls on to the next bush.

Vee Barlett: Unless you actually a flower then yer safe.

Voloshee Highprofit: Flowers are pretty

Kurt Reicke: That is how you can tell she is not a flower

Voloshee Highprofit: If I get the chance to find someone to strip you

Vee Barlett: Y'all talk a lot and don't answer much. So ya wanna remain a bush? 'Cause we ain't got reason to stay around unless ya got info for us. Or I got reason to practice wood wittlin'

Voloshee Highprofit: Course not on the bush side of things

Rothuss Carder: One of us likes to carry axes. But not me. I'm not a herbologist.

Lirtimya: I do have a flamming hands ready

Kurt Reicke: This is why you do not talk to strangers

Rothuss Carder: What's stranger than a talking bush?

Kurt Reicke: Can you stop me from being a bush?

Vee Barlett: Maybe if ya tell us how you became one?

Rothuss Carder: Have you tried being uprooted?

Rothuss Carder: Not suggesting it, just asking.

Kurt Reicke: Magic

Kurt Reicke: We were here just being ourselves

Vee Barlett: Magic runnin' wild or...?

Kurt Reicke: Our normal two legged selves

Kurt Reicke: and then

Voloshee Highprofit: POOOF

Voloshee Highprofit: Just minding our own buisness, you see

Voloshee Highprofit: and POOOOF

Voloshee Highprofit: bushes

Lirtimya: People don't curse just anyone for no reason, it's a huge waste of resources, it's costly

Voloshee Highprofit: Costly she says

Vee Barlett: What were you doin'? Just chillin' on the shore? Smokin'? Drinkin? Ya had to do somethin' to piss off someone...

Voloshee Highprofit: How could we upset anyone!

Lirtimya: Are either of you a mage?

Voloshee Highprofit: No one knew we were here

Vee Barlett: I can think of a few differen' ways already.

Kurt Reicke: YOU said the coast was clear

Vee Barlett: Didja steal a cursed item?

Kurt Reicke: Never got a chance to,... What do you mean steal?

Rothuss Carder: Fairies, maybe. Or a mischievous sprite slash god. Or magic mushrooms.

Vee Barlett: Take somethin' someone wouldn't wantcha takin?

Voloshee Highprofit: We did not take anything, I can swear on that, Kurt is not quick enough to ever manage to steal something from someone

Voloshee Highprofit: Oh and young lady, just how much does it cost to curse someone?

Vee Barlett: rolls eyes

Vee Barlett: Most people ain't worried if the coast is clear unless they did somethin' they know might piss someone off...

Lirtimya: I don't know, depends on the curse, the length, and the intensity of it, but seeing as even the most basic of spells are costly in resources to cast, I would assume a curse would tkae quite a lot to produce, especially to make two people inot bushes

Kurt Reicke: I promise I have no idea who I could have pissed off like that

Kurt Reicke: So do you think you can help us?

Vee Barlett: You ain't given us any leads to know if we could.

Voloshee Highprofit: OH NOW you think they are more than just kids

Voloshee Highprofit: I am sorry he distracted you, you folks go along and have a nice day

Vee Barlett: So do ya want help or not? Lots of mixed messages here.

Voloshee Highprofit: Of course it would be wonderful for some heroic group to come along and save us

Rothuss Carder: rummages his memories for any similar tales of people being turned into bushes or trees.

Rothuss Carder: [SKILL] Local History [MOD:CHA] (vs. Target 16) [SUCCESS by 2] [d20 = 14]

Vee Barlett: Violette, ya know of anythin' that turns people into plants?

Lirtimya: I don't have the ability to lift a curse, Temperance?

Vee Barlett: Er, except a pod man. At least I don't think it a pod guy...

MeLange: Maybe death?

BOB If this is a curse then Rothuss has not heard of anything like this on his side of the mountains

Vee Barlett: Well, ya, can always kill 'em then raise 'em again but I ain't a fan of dabblin' in that.

Temperance: I don't have that ability yet either. Though it would be nice. I need to study more.

Violette Snipes: This is one of the strangest things I have seen

Temperance: I don't think that quarterstaff from the caves would do much to help.

Vee Barlett: Nah, don't think they the same kind of plant. Too instant and.... normal lookin'

Vee Barlett: Maybe they like that frog prince and need a kiss. Wanna kiss them Roth?

Vee Barlett: You like flirtin'

Kurt Reicke: No kissing

Kurt Reicke: I mean, unless you really think that is the way to fix this

Vee Barlett: looks at Rothuss

Vee Barlett: Go on then. Kiss them.

Kurt Reicke: I am not really into kissing

Kurt Reicke: at least not other guys

Kurt Reicke: Nothing wrong with you on that, just not what I would want to do with someone

Kurt Reicke: let alone a stranger after all

Vee Barlett: You're a tree. How it make a difference? Not sure most trees have gender.

Kurt Reicke: but you know it is not likely to work anyway so maybe we just come up with something

Kurt Reicke: Shows how much you know

Vee Barlett: Gimme somethin' more to work off then, yeah?

Voloshee Highprofit: You should see how much pollen I can put out now

Vee Barlett: rolls eyes

Voloshee Highprofit: Let me get you all

Voloshee Highprofit: well

Voloshee Highprofit: it is too late in the year for that

Voloshee Highprofit: but you should see me in the spring

Vee Barlett: Tempe, work that noggin' yeah?

Vee Barlett: I don't plan to be up here in the spring.

Temperance: [CHECK] Wisdom (vs. Target 16) [SUCCESS by 8] [d20 = 8]

Temperance: [CHECK] Intelligence (vs. Target 13) [SUCCESS by 2] [d20 = 11]

Temperance: [SKILL] Botany [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 13) [FAILURE by 6] [d20 = 19]

Lirtimya: [CHECK] Wisdom (vs. Target 14) [FAILURE by 4] [d20 = 18]

Lirtimya: [SKILL] Spellcraft [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 14) [SUCCESS by 11] [d20 = 3]

Rothuss Carder: Up to them. I'm not really into kissing trees or plants either.

Rothuss Carder: Although maybe a nice dryad...

Vee Barlett: rolls eyes again

-> Lirtimya: Lirt thinks this is either a Polymorph spell or some sort of powerful curse by a priest

Lirtimya: This could be a polymorph spell, or just a curse as we said earlier, although the person who cast it would have to be very powerful

Vee Barlett: And yet these two numbskulls claim they don't know how they got this way. How you not know who you pissed off??

Lirtimya: Tries to recall what's needed for a polymorph other spell

Lirtimya: [SKILL] Spellcraft [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 14) [FAILURE by 4] [d20 = 18]

Voloshee Highprofit: Thank you for stopping by

Voloshee Highprofit: Hope you enjoy your stay

Vee Barlett: Anythin' we should watch out for?

Rothuss Carder: Being turned into a bush, I'd guess.

Voloshee Highprofit: I would say just stay away from people?

Kurt Reicke: Oh yeah people that is it

Kurt Reicke: What are you going to tell them next?

Kurt Reicke: Be careful of water, you might drown?

Vee Barlett: What kinda people?

Rothuss Carder: Are there any monsters in these woods or waters?

Voloshee Highprofit: Look you, At least the squirrels stayed in my nest

Lirtimya: Hear that Vee? You could drown

Lirtimya: chuckles

Voloshee Highprofit: Of course there are monsters

Vee Barlett: Better than bein' turned into a plant.

Voloshee Highprofit: you said you were looking for selkies

Voloshee Highprofit: What could be worse than that?

Vee Barlett: What they like?

Vee Barlett: And there mermaids here?

Kurt Reicke: Very Cute

Vee Barlett: Or just sirens?

Kurt Reicke: No mermaids that I have seen

Violette Snipes: NO we are not looking for mermaids

Grabs Vee's arm

Vee Barlett: What?

Vee Barlett: Just curious what's around here.

Vee Barlett: Before we head to the ship.

Rothuss Carder: Do you know anything about the shipwreck out there?

Voloshee Highprofit: We heard it was there, and came down to look into it

Kurt Reicke: Lot of good that did us

Vee Barlett: How'd you... "look into it"?

Lirtimya: So you weren't just sitting around minding your own business?

Kurt Reicke: You come down to the lake you see a ship wreck, of course you are curious about the why and who and what is left over

Vee Barlett: So you just came along, sat on the shore, looked at the ship and... became a plant?

Vee Barlett: 'Cause I looked at it and I still gots two legs.

Kurt Reicke: We were a bit more active than sitting

Rothuss Carder: Pull up a pants leg, see if you're turning green.

Vee Barlett: Or is it that you DID get close to the ship and somethin' in there chased you out and changed you...?

Voloshee Highprofit: It is not like we were walking as bushes

Voloshee Highprofit: THOSE are called Treants, I know those

Voloshee Highprofit: I wish we had those here

Voloshee Highprofit: Maybe they would be better company

Kurt Reicke: If you are not careful I will throw my nuts at you

Vee Barlett: Were you tryin' to plunder the shipwreck?

Voloshee Highprofit: Who has the nuts?

Voloshee Highprofit: We did not plunder

Kurt Reicke: We never got that far

Rothuss Carder: Did you make it out there?

Kurt Reicke: Not even in the water

Kurt Reicke: except when it rains

Kurt Reicke: sweet sweet rain

Voloshee Highprofit: Just dig down you sissy

Voloshee Highprofit: you know you can get what you need just push down a bit

Vee Barlett: Er, how long ya been like this?

Kurt Reicke: I am not staying here

Kurt Reicke: It can't be more than what? A year or three? How many summers?

Voloshee Highprofit: Three summers, two springs you ..... thornbush!

Lirtimya: Most spells have a time limit, curses probably do too, but I can't tell you how long you'll be here

Vee Barlett: Huh, so guess ya ain't in a rush then. I mean, if we can find a way to uncurse ya, we will but... you been here a bit so...

Kurt Reicke: Well I suppose I would take a kiss at that

Kurt Reicke: just to get this over quicker

Rothuss Carder: Any of the ladies interested in giving it a try?

Violette Snipes: Pulls Vee backwards

Violette Snipes: No kissing

Vee Barlett: laughs

Lirtimya: I'm good

Vee Barlett: Unless Tempe volunteers, think ya might be outta luck. Unless ya convince Melange or Rothuss.

Vee Barlett: They like kissin'

Voloshee Highprofit: At least it doesn't get cold

Temperance: Well... I'm not too keen on kissing strangers.

Vee Barlett: Sorry, plants. Maybe next time.

Vee Barlett: Or if Levi feels better later.

MeLange: If somebody needs kissin Mel is here

Vee Barlett: Wanna try kissin' one of these plants to see if their curse breaks?

Vee Barlett: Might just be a bedtime story, but don't hurt to try.

Vee Barlett: Probably.

MeLange: Oh I was thinking people. Plants? That's seems a little strange

Vee Barlett: People cursed as plants. Aint ya ever heard of the Frog Prince? Maybe it be like that.

MeLange: Then wouldn't you need a princess? I'm no princess

Vee Barlett: Nah, just need someone to care.

Rothuss Carder: I can give it a try if no one else will.

Temperance: I guess it wouldn't hurt to try if you put it that way.

Temperance: Where would you kiss a plant anyhow?

Violette Snipes: It can't be contagious can it?

Vee Barlett: shrugs

Violette Snipes: I mean Vee is NOT kissing anyone

Temperance: They didn't seem to be contagious.

Rothuss Carder: I do want to make sure it's not poison ivy or oak though

Temperance: If it is oak I might want a piece of it. Good for spellwork.

Vee Barlett: Yer jealousy cute right now.

Vee Barlett: laughs and kisses her

Violette Snipes: beams

Rothuss Carder: Hey bush-people. Are you poison oak or ivy?

Temperance: cautiously approaches the bushes again

Kurt Reicke: Are we?

Vee Barlett: Well one has nuts so must not be ivy at least

Voloshee Highprofit: I can't tell, how would I klnow?

Voloshee Highprofit: Nah he has never had the nuts

Vee Barlett: And you ain't itching from where the one branch hit ya, yeah?

Rothuss Carder: Good point.

Rothuss Carder: Which tree am I aiming for?

Vee Barlett: The one that hit ya, I guess.

Rothuss Carder: shrugs and moves towards the tree.

Temperance: looks around the bush and gently gives a leaf on the bush a peck.

Temperance: takes a step back and blinks.

BOB no visible effect

Vee Barlett: Wait... oh, oh no. Is that a leaf growin' on yer head, Tempe??

Temperance: No dice, it seems.

Rothuss Carder: Well, bush. Branch or trunk?

MeLange: oh well, you gave it a shot

Vee Barlett: Wait, no sorry. Just a loose one

Temperance: chuckles at Vee's comment.

Temperance: Glad to know I'm not turning into one.

Voloshee Highprofit: I don't know

Vee Barlett: Yet....

Temperance: At least we'll know if it has effects or not if it happens.

Voloshee Highprofit: I thought it was the kiss of true love?

Rothuss Carder: Trunk then, I guess.

Voloshee Highprofit: Do you really love me?

Rothuss Carder: Do you love you?

Vee Barlett: shrugs

Vee Barlett: Maybe yer firend does.

Voloshee Highprofit: I am sort of happy? for being cursed it could be worse I suppose

Vee Barlett: Twine roots or somethin

Voloshee Highprofit: He is afraid to get too dirty

Vee Barlett: Branches then?

Voloshee Highprofit: Will not push down in to get the water from the dirt

Kurt Reicke: You just like getting your fingers roots into everything

Kurt Reicke: that is what got us into this mess in the first place

Rothuss Carder: leans in and plants a kiss on the trunk, just to see what happens.

Vee Barlett: Huh?

BOB No visible effect

Rothuss Carder: shrugs and backs away.

Temperance: Well, at least we tried.

Rothuss Carder: Sorry, bush people.

Voloshee Highprofit: You kids were nice

Kurt Reicke: Yeah see talking to people is not bad

Vee Barlett: So you don't want help otherwise you'd tell us.

Vee Barlett: [CHECK] Charisma (vs. Target 10) [FAILURE by 10] [d20 = 20]

Vee Barlett: pushes the hair out of her face

Rothuss Carder: It was different. We've talked to jerks, otters, lizards, and now bushes.

Vee Barlett: I'm just sayin', they KNOW why they like this but don't wanna tell us.

Vee Barlett: So they must enjoy bein' plants.

Vee Barlett: Ain't got nothin' to lose so not sure why they don't talk.

Rothuss Carder: Or it's embarrassing.

Vee Barlett: So embarrassin' you'd rather live as a plant for rest of yer life?

Temperance: Perhaps it's part of their curse? They can't tell us directly?

Rothuss Carder: Notice they said they weren't just sitting quietly when it happened. They were busy with something.

Vee Barlett: Yar.

Temperance: I wonder if magical residue lasts that long. Lirtimya said that it could've only been cast by someone powerful, and they said it's been summers since.

Vee Barlett: Yar. I bet so. Some powerful mages out there.

The time is 12:13 PM

BOB So you have Those tents on the other side of that outcropping of rocks

BOB and other than that the shore seems empty

BOB there are ships sailing out on the lake that Vee sees

BOB The lake in the center of the bowl is at points over 4 miles wide and more than 14 miles long

Vee Barlett: Oh look at them ships! Lovely

Temperance: glances at the sailing ships and smiles.

Temperance: Reminds me of the docks.

Temperance: With the gulls flying and all.

Vee Barlett: Yar. Water like it should be.

Lirtimya: I can't wait to be back on the sea

Vee Barlett: Same, but this close. At least there's ships.

Vee Barlett: Wonder what them tents are, though?

Temperance: Noticeably large for some regular traveler tents.

Lirtimya: Maybe makshift docks?

Vee Barlett: Know anythin' about them, Violette?

Temperance: [SKILL] Observation [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 13) [FAILURE by 7] [d20 = 20]

Vee Barlett: [SKILL] Observation [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 12) [FAILURE by 1] [d20 = 13]

Lirtimya: [SKILL] Observation [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 16) [SUCCESS by 3] [d20 = 13]

Violette Snipes: I have never seen anything that big before

Vee Barlett: Do giants live up here or somethin'?

Vee Barlett: [SKILL] Sage Knowledge, Island Kingdoms [MOD:CHA] (vs. Target 10) [SUCCESS by 8] [d20 = 2]

BOB Lirt can tell that those tents are more than twice the size of a human tent, even a large human tent, maybe three times, but everything is in puportion so they look normal

BOB Vee knows there are several types of giants that live in the Island Kingdoms

BOB She is familiar with the Reef Giants and Storm Giants

Lirtimya: They must, because they are more than twice, maybe even three times, the size of a regular tent, but everything looks to be the same in proportion as one of ours would

Vee Barlett: Don't think it Reef or Storm Giants this far inland....

Temperance: I don't think I hear anyone around, though I suppose it would be rude to look inside.

Vee Barlett: Rothuss, you sneaky?

Vee Barlett: ROTHUSS! YOU AWAKE?

Vee Barlett: Damn kid keeps sleep walkin'.

Vee Barlett: Useless.

Temperance: We could try tossing pebbles or stones and see if the tent reacts?

Vee Barlett: Well, might as well go. Creep closer, to take a look without goin' in.

Vee Barlett: Nah, don't want them to think you're attackin' them.

Temperance: Fair point.

Temperance: Creep closer it is, then.

Rothuss Carder: I can try, Cap'n. It's not my specialty though.

Rothuss Carder: walks quietly forward.

Rothuss Carder: [TOWER] [CHECK] Dexterity (vs. Target 14) [SUCCESS by 10] [d20 = 4]

Rothuss Carder: moves back again to the group.

Giant, Jungle 2: [CAST] Bow Attack #1 [at Rothuss Carder]

Giant, Jungle 2: [ATTACK (R)] [THACO(9)] [d20 = 10]

Attack [10] ->[ATTACK (R)] (Bow Attack #1) [at Rothuss Carder] [Hit-AC: -1 vs. 8 ] [AC: -1 ] [HIT]

Rothuss Carder: [SAVE] vs. Paralyzation [d20 = 20]

Save [20] [Target 12] -> [for Rothuss Carder] [vs Giant, Jungle 2] [TARGET-SAVED]

Rothuss Carder: backpedals very very quickly

BOB So Rothuss comes around the corner, and he and a Jungle Giant come face to face, and she shoots an arrow from her magic bow at him, which HITS but then he saves from the effect and takes no damage

Temperance: scooches back to make room.

Rothuss Carder: Giants it is!

Temperance: Oh dear.

Rothuss Carder: And not happy ones. Time to leave!

MeLange: oh ok

Temperance: Alright, then

Vee Barlett: Huh, guess there be giants everywhere. Didn't even try talkin' to you?

Rothuss Carder: Yeah, with a giant arrow! Time to leave!

Vee Barlett: Mkay. So we find a different way.

Vee Barlett: We got canoes so no reason to go towards the giant camp.

Vee Barlett: Though maybe we move back to the plant dudes before we set in water.

MeLange: makes sense

Rothuss Carder: Can we go away from the giant camp now?

Temperance: We only have one canoe, right? And it only holds 3 to 4 people

Vee Barlett: Yar, goin' goin.

BOB You do have a solid canoe so you could put people in that and others swim alongside

Vee Barlett: [SKILL] Shipwright [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 10) [SUCCESS by 2] [d20 = 8]

Vee Barlett: [SKILL] Boating [MOD:WIS] (vs. Target 15) [SUCCESS by 12] [d20 = 3]

BOB I will say you can create a basic raft in 1 +1d6 hours

Vee Barlett: [d6 = 5]

BOB anyone with rope use or shipbuilding?

Lirtimya: [SKILL] Rope Use [MOD:DEX] (vs. Target 10) [SUCCESS by 4] [d20 = 6]

Vee Barlett: [SKILL] Rope Use [MOD:DEX] (vs. Target 15) [SUCCESS by 4] [d20 = 11]

BOB I will say if no one else has anything to add that Lirt can shave another hour off of the task

BOB so instead of 6 hours it takes 5 hours to make a raft that can hold the three others

BOB it will not surive a storm but it is worthy of making it out over the water to that island and back

BOB Yes it is just after 5 PM now

Rothuss Carder: Stay here tonight, or go out in the evening?

Vee Barlett: I don't know these waters well so ain't too keen to go out in the dark...

Vee Barlett: tries to guess how long it'd take to get to the shipwreck.

Vee Barlett: [SKILL] Seamanship [MOD:DEX] (vs. Target 16) [SUCCESS by 3] [d20 = 13]

Vee Barlett: [SKILL] Observation [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 12) [SUCCESS by 2] [d20 = 10]

BOB a half hour?

Rothuss Carder: I agree, I think. No need to risk monsters when we can't see them.

Vee Barlett: Although only take a half hour and it ain't dark until... when it get dark, Violette?

Lirtimya: [SKILL] Distance Sense [MOD:WIS] (vs. Target 14) [FAILURE by 2] [d20 = 16]

Lirtimya: [SKILL] Weather Sense [MOD:WIS] (vs. Target 13) [FAILURE by 1] [d20 = 14]

Temperance: Half an hour doesn't seem as long as I thought it would. But if it's going to get dark soon, then I suppose it wouldn't hurt to stay.

Vee Barlett: looks to Violette for an answer.

Rothuss Carder: How long until the sun goes down?

Rothuss Carder: 3 hours?

Violette Snipes: I would think we have at least an hour or two

Violette Snipes: Do you think it is better for us to stay here then go out in the morning? or do go out and stay out there then come back?

Violette Snipes: The giants are here on this shore

Vee Barlett: Hmm...

Temperance: Well, if it's about half an hour to get there, then it would take an hour for the round trip.

Temperance: If the maximum time is two hours before dark, then we'd have an hour to look around

Vee Barlett: Or we camp on that island by the ship.

Temperance: That's an idea too.

Rothuss Carder: Sounds like a plan then. We can stay there or come back to a spot farther away from the giants if we need to.

Temperance: I'm alright with that.

Lirtimya: Sounds fine to me

BOB getting out to the island now

BOB Can you swim? hold your breath? how to explore the wreck?

Lirtimya: [SKILL] Swimming [MOD:STR] (vs. Target 9) [FAILURE by 8] [d20 = 17]

Rothuss Carder: [SKILL] Swimming [MOD:STR] (vs. Target 13) [SUCCESS by 5] [d20 = 8]

Temperance: [SKILL] Swimming [MOD:CON] (vs. Target 15) [FAILURE by 2] [d20 = 17]

BOB You can each make another check

Lirtimya: [SKILL] Swimming [MOD:STR] (vs. Target 9) [SUCCESS by 2] [d20 = 7]

Temperance: [SKILL] Swimming [MOD:CON] (vs. Target 15) [FAILURE by 2] [d20 = 17]

BOB So Roth swims around and goes under to poke around

BOB Lirt tries also but snags on a broken spar and then wrestles to get back out of it

BOB while Temp dives down, then gets snagged and then a wave pushes her back down

BOB so NOW it is a Con check

BOB and Observation Alertness from Roth and Lirt

Temperance: [CHECK] Constitution (vs. Target 15) [SUCCESS by 2] [d20 = 13]

BOB So that is round 1 of being underwater for Temp

Rothuss Carder: [CHECK] Wisdom (vs. Target 9) [FAILURE by 1] [d20 = 10]

Lirtimya: [SKILL] Observation [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 16) [SUCCESS by 7] [d20 = 9]

BOB Lirt definately notices that Temp did NOT come back up

Lirtimya: will dive back down to try and find Temp

BOB Easy to spot her

Lirtimya: [SKILL] Swimming [MOD:STR] (vs. Target 9) [FAILURE by 4] [d20 = 13]

BOB Needs just a regular strength check

Lirtimya: [CHECK] Strength (vs. Target 9) [SUCCESS by 6] [d20 = 3]

BOB Lirt finds Temp and PULLS her out of the corner she got caught in and brings her up to the surface

BOB Temp can hold her breath under water for 1/3 of her con and that only took 2 rounds so she is fine

Lirtimya: You alright Temperance?

Temperance: Whew, thank you for the assistance! I got caught in one of these pieces floating around.

Temperance: Need to watch where I'm going. I think I'm alright.

Lirtimya: I did the same thing, glad you're alright
