Chat Log List - 2024 08 16 - Dead Dread Pirates - Formatted - Chat
The group discusses supplies and things before setting off for Red Hook.
Vee Barlett: So ya need a war hammer? Ya put that on the list, Tempe, yeah?
Vee Barlett: Hope ya asked for one covered in diamonds.
Ruffus DeOrange: You look a little delicate to use a Warhammer
Vee Barlett: She ain't ask for your opinion, now did she?
Temperance: Yes, I did put it on the list. I hesitated a bit because of its weight, but... I figured it wouldn't hurt to have it.
Temperance: laughs lightly.
Vee Barlett: That's whatcha here for, Ruffus, yeah? You can carry some of this if she so delicate.
Temperance: I wouldn't mind having a supposedly oh so strong man carry all my things.
Temperance: My delicate muscles could never.
Temperance: rolls her eyes sarcastically.
Vee Barlett: snorts
Ruffus DeOrange: I suppose if you do not have any friends who can handle it
Vee Barlett: If ya drop yer ego, you'll be able to carry it all.
Ruffus DeOrange: I find it sad she has no friends
Temperance: I find it sad no one believes you're not dead.
Vee Barlett: Speakin' from experience? I ain't seen yer friends around helpin you.
Inv Zora Polasis: Why would she give a burden to her friends when we have you?
Ruffus DeOrange: I am more of an enemies to lovers type of person
Vee Barlett: Seems yer better at makin' lovers enemies. I'm wonderin' if the Duke's son is conveniently missin' for a reason. Maybe framin' ya?
Ruffus DeOrange: I do think that he is not really missing, just intentionally not being found
Vee Barlett: Why?
Temperance: raises an eyebrow and discreetly takes out her notebook.
Ruffus DeOrange: Did you meet his mother?
Vee Barlett: Not enough fer judgement.
Ruffus DeOrange: Then I am glad you did not spend that much time with her
Ruffus DeOrange: I take it we are leaving
Vee Barlett: As long as ya got everythin' on the list, then we ready to go.
Ruffus DeOrange: Sure
Ruffus DeOrange: Sailing around the northern end of Mizzen over to Jilanth
Inv Zora Polasis: I thought we were going to Red Hook?
Ruffus DeOrange: I have never been there so we will have to explore
Ruffus DeOrange: Red Hook is here on Mizzen
Ruffus DeOrange: Why do you want to go there
Vee Barlett: Western shore.
Vee Barlett: There were prints there.
Vee Barlett: Worth checkin, right, Zora?
Temperance: nods in understanding.
Inv Zora Polasis: That is what we agreed upon and if this imposter has spread his mark in Red Hook it is worth checking
Vee Barlett: Then we hit Red Hook and sail from there.
Temperance: From my understanding, we should have a map of Mizzen or Red Hook that I put on the list...
Vee Barlett: And while we do that, Ruffus can regale us with the tale of how he got in the Duke's favor and supposedly saved his son from mermaids.
Inv Zora Polasis: It didn't sound like he was in the Duke's favor.
Inv Zora Polasis: Other than they don't refuse him at the door
Vee Barlett: Figure him not bein' dead is the favor.
Inv Zora Polasis: laughs
Temperance: muffles a laugh.
Temperance: Their mixed feelings about him seemed rather evident.
So the group piles back into the boat to head up and over to the west coast
Rothuss Carder: Shotgun!
Vee Barlett: What?
Rothuss Carder: rushes to be first to the boat.
Temperance: tilts her head to look and see if there's an actual shotgun.
Temperance: Did we put that on the list too?
Vee Barlett: What's a shotgun?
Rothuss Carder: Best seat on the boat!
Vee Barlett: That's be the wheel and you ain't touchin' that.
Temperance: looks amused as she watches behind them.
Vee expertly guides the boat back into open waters.
Vee Barlett: [SKILL] Navigation [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 10) [SUCCESS by 7] [d20 = 3]
Temperance: [SKILL] Observation [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 13) [SUCCESS by 5] [d20 = 8]
Ruffus DeOrange: Sits down in the stern near the wheel
Ruffus DeOrange: Watching Vee guide the boat
Ruffus DeOrange: SO what part of the story did you want to hear about?
Ruffus DeOrange: The enemies? or the Lovers?
Vee Barlett: How the hell a wimp like you got someone back from mermaids.
Vee Barlett: IF he even wanted to come back.
Ruffus DeOrange: You do understand that Mermaids are lovely people
Ruffus DeOrange: They just like keeping pretty things
Ruffus DeOrange: So you definitely should not be going anywhere near them
Rothuss Carder: I'll be careful!
Vee Barlett: Yeah, I don't like being told what to do. Get to the story.
Ruffus DeOrange: Rothuss might be interesting to them
Ruffus DeOrange: You would make them jealous Vee
Vee Barlett: It's a risk I'd take.
Ruffus DeOrange: Well our poor hero of our story was neither a smart risk taker nor ugly enough to be rejected
Ruffus DeOrange: Do you know his name?
Vee Barlett: Does it matter? I just want to know how the story goes.
Ruffus DeOrange: Young man discovers a mermaid lair, he ventures too close, he needs to be rescued by a friend, the mermaids are sad to release him, no one is happy in the end
Ruffus DeOrange: That is how the story goes
Vee Barlett: Hey Rothuss! You thought I was bad at stories, but didja hear that one?
Vee Barlett: No details about HOW or who or where or anything.
Rothuss Carder: It was short enough you were able to pay attention to it, so I guess he gets points for that.
Inv Zora Polasis: did you get a reward and then the only happy person in that story?
Inv Zora Polasis: what did you get out of it?
Vee Barlett: There was some enemy or lover or both in there. Probably slept with some girls at the end or somethin' I'm bettin'
Ruffus DeOrange: I did not get a monetary reward, though the Duke is appreciative of what I did for his family
Vee Barlett: Can ya speak their language?
Ruffus DeOrange: No
Ruffus DeOrange: IF they want to they can understand us
Ruffus DeOrange: We are are not part of their world
Vee Barlett: Didja rescue him because you actually consider him a friend?
Temperance: continues scribbling notes about mermaids, only halfheartedly paying attention.
Ruffus DeOrange: I would say he is a good companion
Ruffus DeOrange: As I said not a smart risk taker
Vee Barlett: No loyalty either guessin' if he weren't a friend.
Ruffus DeOrange: He thinks he is loyal
Ruffus DeOrange: Like many young noble men, he is not always aware of his lack of influence outside of his circle
Vee Barlett: Him or you?
Ruffus DeOrange: Oh, I am fairly certain I understand how much influence that I have
Inv Zora Polasis: And he is also currently missing?
Inv Zora Polasis: Or did I misunderstand?
Ruffus DeOrange: He is not at home, I believe he would be .... where the admiral is? Or in hiding from some other thing?
Ruffus DeOrange: I can say that he has not defended me to prove I am not dead
Vee Barlett: That why I asked. Bit convenient, yeah?
Temperance: raises an eyebrow with some interest.
Inv Zora Polasis: I think if he was kidnapped with the admiral his parents would be concerned. They only mentioned the Admiral and his ships
Ruffus DeOrange: OR it could be a total red herring
Inv Zora Polasis: How long has he been missing?
Ruffus DeOrange: Three days
Inv Zora Polasis: How long has the Admiral been kidnapped?
Ruffus DeOrange: Three days
Inv Zora Polasis: Aha!
Vee Barlett: How long they think you Dread Dead Firebeard?
Ruffus DeOrange: Hence this adventure
Inv Zora Polasis: Perhaps the son is pretending to be Firebeard and has kidnapped his father's Admiral
Ruffus DeOrange: That is a great story
Ruffus DeOrange: If we can prove that I would be most grateful
Temperance: It is indeed a strange coincidence. What reason would he have to kidnap the admiral? Were they not on good terms?
Inv Zora Polasis: What is the Duke's son's name?
Ruffus DeOrange: Charles
Ruffus DeOrange: Good Old Charlie
Inv Zora Polasis: nods
Vee Barlett: Charlie got a horse?
Ruffus DeOrange: I do not think he knows how to ride
Temperance: muffles a laugh.
Vee Barlett: Huh, just checkin'
Inv Zora Polasis: How did his father react to the mermaid incident? Have they been on good terms of late?
Ruffus DeOrange: I am not sure he told his father about the mermaid adventure
Ruffus DeOrange: It made the rounds in the taverns so I can imagine it filtered up to him
Ruffus DeOrange: But I did not talk to him about it
Inv Zora Polasis: Does he have any friends with magical abilities?
Temperance: Or perhaps anyone he could have hired?
Ruffus DeOrange: I do not think he has many friends like that
Ruffus DeOrange: Maybe a young girl who dabbles with spells
Ruffus DeOrange: But I do not remember any serious mage like your Lirtimya
Lirtimya: Looks at him, hearing her name, she had zoned out for a while
Inv Zora Polasis: All you need is some caster with the right charms or illusions to wreak havoc
Ruffus DeOrange: I do wonder if he has made the rounds of the churches, perhaps some young priestess could spend some time with him
Ruffus DeOrange: but how can you make flaming footprints with magic?
Rothuss Carder: strums on his lute and listens to the story.
Vee Barlett: Like them mages who flick their fingers and make fire.
Ruffus DeOrange: I have seen Bards do that at the college
Ruffus DeOrange: Part of their stage act
Vee Barlett: I ain't seen our bard do that.
Inv Zora Polasis: You don't really believe this is some ghost do you?
Ruffus DeOrange: I am not afraid of any ghosts
Inv Zora Polasis: Not my question
Vee Barlett: Good 'cause you can be front and center if we fight one.
Rothuss Carder: I'm full of hidden mysteries.
Ruffus DeOrange: But I do not believe in the idea that someone dies and becomes a ghost and goes right back to what they were doing before they died
Inv Zora Polasis: Exactly
Vee Barlett: Yer full of shit, Rothuss.
Rothuss Carder: That could be a hidden mystery
Vee Barlett: Please keep it hidden then.
Vee Barlett: Can zombies make flamin' footprints?
Ruffus DeOrange: You know when we were young we would put flaming bags of ..... on the doorsteps of people.... and .... well
Ruffus DeOrange: I suppose that is not the same thing
Vee Barlett: Ya live up to the rumors, yeah.
Rothuss Carder: Those are a lot of smell, not a lot of green
Ruffus DeOrange: How do you make flaming footprints?
Ruffus DeOrange: Looks at Temperance
Rothuss Carder: Did you see them, Orange? Or only hear about 'em?
Ruffus DeOrange: I have only heard about them
Temperance: raises an eyebrow at her name being called.
Ruffus DeOrange: If I had seen them, then I might be the dead dread pirate Firebeard
Temperance: I haven't actually seen them before, so I wouldn't have a knowledgeable answer about them. Could fungi or certain plants emit those flames?
Temperance: We did encounter some mushrooms that made our shoes glow once.
Vee Barlett: Yeah so changin' subjects from the pranks, how'd ya know the Temple would ask me for help? I didn't tell ya nothin' about that, Ruffus.
Ruffus DeOrange: I knew that if we asked for help from the Temple of Orange Sunsets they would send their experienced investigators, so yes I thought you were going to be there
Vee Barlett: I ain't one of theirs. They just think that.
Rothuss Carder: I'm wondering if they're outlines, or full flaming footprints.
Vee Barlett: Well we did have that mushroom that made our boots glow... but I don't recall us leaving glowin' prints...
Ruffus DeOrange: So glowing boots
Rothuss Carder: I don't suppose nobody knows how Firebeard did the trick originally, right?
Temperance: It's hard to tell, I didn't even know about Firebeard before this case. Being knowledgeable about pirates isn't really my area.
Vee Barlett: So whatcha really know about me then?
Ruffus DeOrange: Looks Vee up and down with a smile
Ruffus DeOrange: You mean other than?
Vee Barlett: Don't make me push you overboard.
Ruffus DeOrange: You chased me a hundred miles
Ruffus DeOrange: What do you really know about me?
Vee Barlett: That we both play dumb badly.
Ruffus DeOrange: We are both very pretty
Vee Barlett: And ya got problems with yer dad.
Ruffus DeOrange: We both do
Temperance: ignoring what's going with Vee and Ruffus.
Vee Barlett: Nah.
Vee Barlett: Unlike you, I love mine.
Ruffus DeOrange: My dad does not like you
Vee Barlett: Everyone like me.
Inv Zora Polasis: stifles a laugh
Rothuss Carder: stares out at the horizon.
MeLange practices an artform similar to what you may know as Tai Chi
Ruffus DeOrange: I will agree that there is a difference of opinion on the streets of Osterhold depending on which block you are on
Vee Barlett: And which island.
Ruffus DeOrange: Do we head south to Red Hook? as the plan was? or head west to Jilanth
Vee Barlett: Red Hook. Zora don't leave no stone unturned.
Temperance: nods lightly in agreement.
Rothuss Carder: Yup
Ruffus DeOrange: Very well
The time is 2:30 PM

Young Moon's phase is Waning Gibbous
Old Moon's phase is Waning Gibbous
The group moves south along the coast
and come upon a small port, one long dock, a squat lighthouse, and what seems to be a set of shops and a tavern
Vee Barlett: How's the ...dancin' thing yer doin' goin' Melange?
MeLange: waves arm from left to right
MeLange: uhhh, it's not dancin' Vee, it's actually a very serious form of martial arts
Vee Barlett: Oh. Does it make ya feel all calm like?
Vee Barlett: 'Cause I might need ta learn it.
MeLange: it helps, but hard times are hard times
MeLange wooooshh
Vee Barlett: I'll just look forward to gettin' drunk later for calm then...
MeLange: that is also a most reliable method
Vee Barlett: Hmm, maybe after all this I need to learn more calm things from ya, Melange. Would ya teach me?
MeLange: Be happy to Vee
MeLange: hope it helps, no promises though
Vee Barlett: Once way to find out, Melange! Thanks.
MeLange: Also just something to do when you're bored, people find it attractive, that helps too
Vee Barlett: If Ruffus starts flirtin' with ya, then ya succeeded.
MeLange realizes he may suddenly have an obligation, and winces
Vee Barlett: Been awhile since I was last here, but we at Red Hook, y'all.
As you bring the Boat to the end of the dock
Csharynn Fflannidan: Wa yous doanna har
Vee Barlett: Yohoo! Lookin' for footprints.
Csharynn Fflannidan: Paaa Na pints ina wata
Vee Barlett: squints trying to understand because she's too sober
Vee Barlett: Nah, on land.
Vee Barlett: Flamin'? Heard them rumors.
Rothuss Carder: On land, sir. We're looking for the green fiery footprints.
Csharynn Fflannidan: Ahh gren ens
Vee Barlett: Yar
Csharynn Fflannidan: At nait ya new
Vee Barlett: Nah?
Inv Zora Polasis: So you have heard the rumors of Firebeard's return?
Csharynn Fflannidan: Yah
Inv Zora Polasis: Anyone actually seen him?
Csharynn Fflannidan: Nah nait a ting
Vee Barlett: Not even fer some coin?
Csharynn Fflannidan: Coyn na mak et apeer
Vee Barlett: Anyone who seenit wanna talk?
Inv Zora Polasis: Has the Duke's son docked here in the last few days? Charles Lewriff?
Csharynn Fflannidan: Charlie goh tree weks
Inv Zora Polasis: All right
Vee Barlett: What about the dunderhead behind me? When's the last time he was here?
Inv Zora Polasis: Where are these footprints when they appear at night? At the docks? Somewhere else?
Driekol Onebrow: Csharynn, what are you telling these people?
Vee Barlett: Ah hoy! Lookin' few them flamin' prints.
Csharynn Fflannidan: Bah gi no nor hir
Driekol Onebrow: What the hell was that Csharynn
Driekol Onebrow: Bah gi no nor... OH He not here
Driekol Onebrow: Who ever let you greet people
Driekol Onebrow: Who are you folks?
Vee Barlett: Vee Barlett.
Driekol Onebrow: Good to meet you
Driekol Onebrow: Ahh Young De Orange
Lirtimya: Lirtimya
Driekol Onebrow: A full boat you have here
Driekol Onebrow: are you a traveling show?
Rothuss Carder: Rothuss Carder! *waves from where he's sitting*
Vee Barlett: Ain't his boat.
Ruffus DeOrange: Gestures to Vee, She is leading the show
Driekol Onebrow: Well if you are looking to unload a catch you have a couple of hours before the rest of the deck hands get in
Driekol Onebrow: most boats bring their own but you do not look to be the kind to do a lot of that sort for work
Vee Barlett: Nah, just lookin' to find more info on them rumors of glowin' footprints found here.
Driekol Onebrow: Just a prank, at least I hope
Vee Barlett: What can ya tell us about it?
Csharynn Fflannidan: Na No Pra
Rothuss Carder: turns to listen and *gasp!* pay attention.
Driekol Onebrow: They started to appear about two weeks ago
Inv Zora Polasis: You believe in this ghost story?
Driekol Onebrow: Some said it was a ghost
Vee Barlett: Two weeks ago? Anythin' significant around that time? Fierce storm? Chantin'? Screechin' gulls?
Temperance: flips to a page to start writing some notes.
Driekol Onebrow: Nothing I remember
Vee Barlett: They appearin' nightly?
Csharynn Fflannidan: Nah ene hen Moon es low
Vee Barlett: Where abouts they been spotted?
Driekol Onebrow: It must be a prank by some rich (stares at De Orange) roust a bout with nothing to do
Driekol Onebrow: They are always near the dock or on the edge of down behind the tavern on the other side of the square
Csharynn Fflannidan: easi ta fle
Driekol Onebrow: Yes the edge of town
Vee Barlett: Anythin' else of note? Weird smells or the like?
Driekol Onebrow: I have only seen them once
Vee Barlett: How long ago?
Csharynn Fflannidan: fif imes to tems sam ight
Csharynn Fflannidan: tee day
Vee Barlett: looks to Zora
Vee Barlett: I ain't sure what else ya find useful to ask so all yers.
Driekol Onebrow: Four? Three days ago?
Vee Barlett: Bettin' three...
Driekol Onebrow: If you are staying we do need to bring your boat around
Vee Barlett: Nah, we headin' across the way.
Vee Barlett: Just stoppin' here fer a few questions.
Rothuss Carder: I'd like to see one of the areas the prints appeared real quick
Driekol Onebrow: If you are heading into the Sirens you should get there before dark
Driekol Onebrow: Unless you know the paths well
Inv Zora Polasis: Have you heard about the three ships that were taken at the Jilanth passage a few days ago?
Csharynn Fflannidan: Ya ta off ta da soth
Csharynn Fflannidan leads Rothuss and the group to the edge of the square, on the south side where the path heads into the trees
They can see some slight singe areas of leaves or fronds that have just a bit of fired edge to them but not fully burned, nothing unusual

Rothuss Carder: When would you guess the next time they'll show up is?
Inv Zora Polasis: At low moon?
Csharynn Fflannidan: Da
Csharynn Fflannidan: tre ta for da
Inv Zora Polasis: No mischief or theft associated with the appearance of the footprints?
Driekol Onebrow: Looks over at Zora, I am not certain Investigator
Inv Zora Polasis: You aren't certain if you heard about the ships being taken?
Driekol Onebrow: There was certainly some angst and muttering but no mischief with the footprints that I heard
Inv Zora Polasis: Oh thank you
Driekol Onebrow: Ships go missing in the Sirens every so often
Driekol Onebrow: rare for three at once
Vee Barlett: Rare but not unheard of?
Inv Zora Polasis: yes and the first mate of the admiral survived to come home
Driekol Onebrow: Suppose that plus someone with the prank of the footprints has set people on edge
Driekol Onebrow: I had not heard anyone from the ships survived
Driekol Onebrow: That is good he made it home safe
Driekol Onebrow: Is that why you are here?
Inv Zora Polasis: He is in shock over what happened to him.
Inv Zora Polasis: Yes
Csharynn Fflannidan: Friten ta deat
Inv Zora Polasis: Yes he was
Inv Zora Polasis: Did you see him?
Csharynn Fflannidan: Na im
Csharynn Fflannidan: Otrs
Temperance: tilts her head
Inv Zora Polasis: The ones who see this Firebeard are frightened to death?
Csharynn Fflannidan: Eh ta Sireens
Temperance: Sirens?
Inv Zora Polasis: There are sirens in the Jilanth passage?
Vee Barlett: It ain't called Siren's Call for no reason...
Csharynn Fflannidan: Da Da
Inv Zora Polasis: No one said anything about sirens absconding with ships
Driekol Onebrow: It is a dangerous hideout
Inv Zora Polasis: [SKILL] Local History [MOD:CHA] (vs. Target 12) [FAILURE by 1] [d20 = 13]

The lure of the Sirens here has led many mariners over the years to their drowning deaths. With many underwater caves and a need to trade for pearls this is considered one of the most dangerous ports of call in all of the Island Kingdoms.
The Duke of Siren Call has a small fleet of ships he directly controls but to have permission to sail his waters a captain needs to be ready to serve his needs if called.
Inv Zora Polasis: I thought sirens stole men and not ships
Vee Barlett: The Duke takes them ships.
Vee Barlett: So we gotta be careful of both.
MeLange: Yup, be careful with us ladies
Vee Barlett: laughs
Inv Zora Polasis: And the ability to defeat the Admiral of the Duke of Mizzen? You would think the Duke would have suspected as much rather than tell us ghost stories if that was the case
Inv Zora Polasis: I am skeptical
Inv Zora Polasis: of everything at this point
Vee Barlett: Nah, ain't sayin' he involved - but maybe - but that we gotta stay under the radar.
Ruffus DeOrange: Good
Ruffus DeOrange: As long as we can prove I am not dead
Inv Zora Polasis: sighs
Inv Zora Polasis: Not everything is about you
Ruffus DeOrange: Sadly I know
Vee Barlett: To a point. I ain't riskin' lives fer yer proof.
Vee Barlett: But we can investigate and maybe you'll be lucky with what we find.
Ruffus DeOrange: I am always glad to get lucky with you Vee
Vee Barlett: sighs
Ruffus DeOrange: Now can we get away from here
Inv Zora Polasis: Vee, you are Levi are rangers. Any sense tracking those footprints here?
Vee Barlett: Well I did take a close look...
Vee Barlett: I can tell ya that them leaves were burned by a normal, borin' type of flame. And they far apart... ain't a normal stride length. Thinkin' the burnin' came after the... “footprints” if ya wanna call them that.
Vee Barlett: Maybe to cover 'em up.
Vee Barlett: Nothin' ghostly I can see.
Vee Barlett: Or maybe to be tracked... hmm.....
Vee Barlett: Weird. Anythin' else?
Inv Zora Polasis: Sounds like nothing to chase
Rothuss Carder: How big are the feet?
Vee Barlett: Nah but it does point more to it not bein' ghostly and more real or a prank.
Vee Barlett: Eh, big boy. Kinda more like them scrag size.
Vee Barlett: It's all smudge up but them prints ain't normal person sized.
Vee Barlett: Best I can tell.
Temperance: raises an eyebrow, writing it down for reference.
Vee Barlett: Hmm...
Vee Barlett: But right here, ya see that? Looks more human sized.
Vee Barlett: Maybe got himself a pal.
Levi and Vee think further about the footprints they found, but come up with no new insights.

Vee Barlett: I almost got meself a thought but it sailed away.
Levi Reed: They don't look like much to me
Rothuss Carder: I wonder if any demons leave flaming footprints?
Vee Barlett: I'd think demons would leave more magical fire. Not.. leaves burned fer fun. That's what ya do when bored and mad at yer dads.
Rothuss Carder: True
Temperance: Burning leaves are considered a way to banish boredom?
Vee Barlett: Ya. Don't ya burn things when bored or mad? It fun.
Rothuss Carder: If you're bored enough, yep
Temperance: shrugs her shoulders.
Vee Barlett: When ya bored AND mad ya burn lots of things.
Temperance: Haven't had the chance to try.
Vee Barlett: Ain't sure you the kind to get mad. Well, unless yer around Ruffus long enough apparently.
Levi Reed: You gotta make your own chances, Tempe. You want a match?
Lirtimya: It can be a way to stop boredom
Temperance: Burning things was more Jericho's area when he was here.
Vee Barlett: But don't be burnin' anything on me boat unless I tell ya to.
Temperance: laughs lightly.
Temperance: Perhaps when we're done with this whole Firebeard business I'll try it safely.
Temperance: Save a match for me.
Temperance: muffles a light laugh.
Vee Barlett: isn't sure what safely burning things is but doesn't comment
Vee Barlett: We done here, Invisible?
Inv Zora Polasis: I think so. Things are so close by we can come back easily if needed
Vee Barlett: Yar and we need to get across the sound before it hit dark.
Vee Barlett: Alright crew, back to the boat!
Rothuss Carder: traipses back along the dock toward the boat.
Temperance: follows Rothuss and watches him traipsing.
Vee Barlett: hasn't reached the boat yet
Vee Barlett: Y'all, this boat ain't fast enough to reach Jilanth before dark, I'm thinkin. We might wanna stay here the night. Yer aims lately.... make me thinkin' maybe we not push ourselves.
Vee Barlett: This be why I prefer ships to boats...
Rothuss Carder: Is there an inn or tavern?
Vee Barlett: Yar over there.
Vee Barlett: Maybe we can catch our culprit tonight.
Temperance: nods in agreement.
MeLange: Feels like a good night for catching culprits
Inv Zora Polasis: So we are exploring the town tonight? That could be interesting
Vee Barlett: It a colorful town.
Temperance: I suppose a bit of exploring might not be too bad. Not sure about getting drunk part.
Levi Reed: I would love to get drunk, and if exploring happens, that's ok too I guess
Vee Barlett: Lemme move the boat and we can go get drunk, I suppose.

Vee Barlett: But also don't forget we got an early mornin'
MeLange: woohoo!
MeLange approves
Vee Barlett: laughs
Vee Barlett: Yer in a good mood Melange.
Temperance: smiles at their antics.
Vee Barlett: Ready to chase some more ghosts? Might need to keep an eye on Levi that he don't go crazy again.
MeLange: someone else picking up the tab? what's not to be happy about
Vee Barlett: grins
Vee Barlett: Got any thoughts on this ghost we chasin'?
MeLange: Not especially, except that we chasin' ghosts I guess
Vee Barlett: nods
MeLange: But I imagine it's as good as chasin' anything else
Rothuss Carder: None yet. Kinda weird the prints being bigger and longer than normal. You'd think that'd be something pretty easy to do if you were faking it.
Vee Barlett: Well ain't sure it is, 'specially with those prints, but it interestin'
Ruffus DeOrange: Sorry wanted to find a place for us to stay but there are only two rooms
Vee Barlett: That be fine. Men take one, women take the other. Be like bunkin' on the boat.
MeLange: sounds like you did a great job finding us two rooms Ruffus!
Rothuss Carder: Some could probably sleep on the boat.
Rothuss Carder: You boaty-type people.
Vee Barlett: Yar, might be more comfy and we can keep an eye out for the fire prints....
Ruffus DeOrange: Vee and I on the boat for a watch
Vee Barlett: rolls her eyes
Ruffus DeOrange: While the rest of you get ready to do a watch in the middle of the night
MeLange: I could join ya early watch... Yar?
Vee Barlett: laughs
Vee Barlett: That yar look good on ya, Melange!
MeLange: Thanks Vee, thought I'd try it out
MeLange blushes
Inv Zora Polasis: Oh like they'll be watching anything but each other
Vee Barlett: Melange will be there to make sure I don't murder anyone.
Inv Zora Polasis: That's fine. I'm looking to do some exploring
Inv Zora Polasis: Why do we need to watch a boat at the dock?
Temperance: I think they were hoping to watch footprints from the boat.
Temperance: But perhaps I misunderstood.
Rothuss Carder: Who'd like to share with me?
Rothuss Carder: peers out the door.
Rothuss Carder: Can we see it from here too?
Rothuss Carder: Wait, wasn't one of the sites behind the inn too?
Temperance: I'm not quite sure what we'll be able to see from here.
Rothuss Carder: It's not low moon though, so supposedly nothing to see tonight anyways.
Inv Zora Polasis: Yes and at the edge of town
Vee Barlett: Well we can explore before it get too dark then take stake at different spots, yeah?
Temperance: nods in agreement.
Vee Barlett: After we eat somethin'
Lirtimya: Do you need a cook?
Vee Barlett: Nah, tavern should have food for us so you can take a rest today, Matey.
Lirtimya: Alright
Levi Reed: You know, I think I might want to stay on the boat too
Levi Reed: I feel a lot more responsible for this boat than I ever have before
Vee Barlett: Two cozy, three fine, but four definitely a crowd.
Rothuss Carder: I'm guessing Lirt might be more comfy in a bunk on the boat too, and Tempe can lay down here in the inn. I'll stay in the tavern and keep watch, Zora can pick where she wants to go.
Lirtimya: I would prefer the boat, yes
Zora takes some time to explore the town and do a bit of information gathering.
Inv Zora Polasis: [SKILL] Information Gathering [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 14) [SUCCESS by 12] [d20 = 2]
Inv Zora Polasis: After spending some time talking to the locals she comes back to the group
Inv Zora Polasis: Seems like there are mixed feelings about these footprints
Inv Zora Polasis: Many are like the man at the dock and think it's a prank
Inv Zora Polasis: But others think it's a someone trying to scare people before a huge pirate raid
Vee Barlett: Hmm...
Temperance: That's a theory we haven't heard of yet.
Temperance: A pirate raid...
Vee Barlett: How long it been since the last raid?
Inv Zora Polasis: There have been more pirate raids from Siren's Call so there is a real reason why the Duke would want a new alliance
Vee thinks on this news.
Vee Barlett: [CHECK] Wisdom (vs. Target 14) [SUCCESS by 5] [d20 = 9]
Three or four years since the last bad batch of raids, the same time the Admiral took over and went after the pirates is when they stopped
Also they stopped when Firebeard died
Vee Barlett: Good time for the Admiral to go missin'
Vee Barlett: Void to be filled, but why bother repeatin' footsteps when ya can make yer own?
Temperance: Do pirates inherit things like that? Magic or sorcery to create those signatures?
Inv Zora Polasis: Aligning with a legend helps?
Temperance: If Firebeard is dead, maybe someone else is filling his place.
Vee Barlett: It do but them big footsteps to fill. Helps to scare them off if ya ain't got the right boots to fill it, I suppose.
Vee Barlett: I feel like I ain't rememberin' somethin' important here.
Rothuss Carder whispers to Inv Zora Polasis: Any chance maybe the Admiral went bad and disappeared himself so he could turn pirate?
Inv Zora Polasis whispers to Rothuss Carder: I think if that was the case, Jereth would have had a reaction to us mentioning him
Inv Zora Polasis whispers to Rothuss Carder: I hope that is not the case
Rothuss Carder whispers to Inv Zora Polasis: I'm looking at it like what I'd need to make a story like this.
Inv Zora Polasis whispers to Rothuss Carder: smiles
Vee Barlett: Ugh, whatever. Maybe a drink will help. And I'll be rethinkin' where I wanna stay tonight. That boat got crowded.
Ruffus DeOrange: We could find some place else
Temperance: I don't mind staying at the inn.
Rothuss Carder: bows to Temperance.
Rothuss Carder: I shall keep you safe, dear Priestess!
Inv Zora Polasis: I don't want to stay on the boat!
Temperance: smiles lightly and bows back.
Temperance: And I will try my best to do the same.
Vee Barlett: Such as?
Ruffus DeOrange: The Mayor's house?
Vee Barlett: raises brow
Ruffus DeOrange: Let's go ask her if we can stay there
Vee Barlett: We who?
Ruffus DeOrange: You and me
Vee Barlett: is torn between wanting comfort and wanting to prove Zora wrong
Vee Barlett: Well it would be comfortable.... and I do like me comfort....
Ruffus DeOrange: It would be nice to wake up in a real bed
Vee Barlett: Fine. Worth at least knowin' who the mayor be but ain't gettin' out of investigatin' them footprints tonight.
Temperance: remembers Zora's comment about them doing anything but looking at each other, but chooses not to say anything.
CRASH and lightning followed by thunder and the start of a late summer storm
Vee Barlett: [SKILL] Weather Sense [MOD:WIS] (vs. Target 13) [SUCCESS by 12] [d20 = 1]
Vee Barlett: holds up her jacket before the rain starts pouring
Ruffus DeOrange: Grabs Vee's arm and runs down the lane to a large house
Vee Barlett: Oh, it gonna rain, sorry guys forgot to point that out!
Vee Barlett: gets yanked away
Rothuss Carder: Thanks for letting us know!
Temperance: hastily puts away her notebook back in her bag.
Rothuss Carder: Boat people to the boat! Normal people to the inn!
Vee Barlett: It'll end quicklyyyyy
Vee Barlett: voices trails off as she's pulled away
Inv Zora Polasis: To the tavern before we gets soaked?
Temperance: nods and hurries over in the direction.
Rothuss Carder: Rothuss will actually keep an eye and an ear out on the town for as long as is humanly possible.
Evening on the boat with Levi and MeLange
Just watching the boat to make sure nothing happens, staring out at the rain
MeLange: So L, how was your days?
MeLange: Hey Levi, so what's up with all this ghost business? To be honest I got lost a long time ago, sounds like koo koo ka choo if you know what I mean
Levi Reed: Yeah, I don't know, Rufus thinks they think he's a dead ghost playing a prank or something, that guy's an idiot
MeLange: Oh I see
MeLange: Well that's unfortunate
Levi Reed: Duke's son got kidnapped and people are saying it's a pirate back from the dead... I don't know. None of it makes any sense.
MeLange: Hey didn't you go through a whole ghost phase?
MeLange: Pirate with a beard of fire I suppose...
Levi Reed: I mean, if we get a real ghost, I'm in
Levi Reed: But I'm pretty sure these are just people trying to cover up some crimes
MeLange: Oh I getchya
MeLange: Yea meeting a real ghost would be cool actually
MeLange: People always trying to cover up their crimes
Levi Reed: Right!?
Levi Reed: Just stop doing crimes
MeLange: Yea common people!
MeLange: or own up to your crimes
MeLange: I say
Levi Reed: Feels like a lot more work to have to cover it up than to just do a real job
MeLange: Yea, real work adventuring like us
Levi Reed: Exactly
Levi Reed: It's fun AND not crimes
Levi Reed: Well, besides whatever Vee's hiding
Levi Reed: And Ruffus
MeLange: Yea...
MeLange: I mean maybe some crimes
MeLange: every now and then
Levi Reed: Just tiny little white crimes
MeLange: yea no big deal stuff
Levi Reed: No kidnapping or murder or coverups
MeLange: that's over the line
Levi Reed: Absolutely
MeLange: Well sounds like our moral compass is well calibrated
Levi Reed: Maybe the most calibrated there ever was
MeLange: And how you doing since the whole ghost monkey thing?
MeLange: We haven't had a chance to touch elbows
Levi Reed: Oh, you know. Had to let that go. Can't hold on to stuff like that, it makes you bitter and gives you premature wrinkles
MeLange: hmm yea neither of those are very good
Levi Reed: I want to earn my wrinkles by getting old, not by being worried
Levi Reed: all the time
Levi Reed: Tempe can have those wrinkles
MeLange: I like that
MeLange: you getting old I mean
Levi Reed: Oh, not this again
MeLange: Just saying things I like no big deal
Levi Reed: Yeah, I'd rather not have this discussion again right now
MeLange: That's fine
MeLange: Anything you'd like talk about?
MeLange: Otherwise?
Levi Reed: If it makes you feel better, I'll let Tempe write up one of those death papers for me when we get back home next
MeLange: Oh that's nice of you Levi, but in the end it's you that makes me feel better, not some paper
MeLange: bumps elbows
Levi Reed: So... what's your favorite hobby?
MeLange: probably kite flying, some people call it kiting
Levi Reed: Oh, I never knew that! How'd you get into that?
MeLange: it's fun thought, would be great on the ship
The rain slows down from a storm into a gentle rain, steady drumming on the docks, on the boats tied up
MeLange: Well you can fly a kite on your own, it's harder, but possible
MeLange: but when you pull it off, boy does it fly
MeLange: Rain's lightin' up
Levi Reed: Is it something you can just pick up intuitively or do you need someone to teach you?
MeLange: intuition's fine, it'd just take time. Teacher was good though, the librarian naturally
Levi Reed: [SKILL] Alertness [MOD:WIS] (vs. Target 15) [SUCCESS by 1] [d20 = 14]
Levi Reed: Ahhh... you have a... romantic relationship with the librarian? Or just friends? Not that it matters! Just curious
MeLange: Not every thing has to be romantic sheesh
MeLange: you know what I mean
Levi Reed: Just asking!
MeLange: Besides, I think you have to be asexual to be a librarian right?
Levi Reed: Wouldn't know anything about that
Levi Reed: I'm a stud
MeLange: Is that not a thing? I thought it was a rule?
Levi Reed: It could be
Levi Reed: I just don't know, man
MeLange: oh man... I may have to rethink some of our conversations then...
Levi Reed: I mean, you can always just ask. Communication is important in any relationship
MeLange: meh
Evening at the Tavern with Zora, Temp, and Lirt
Temperance: The pirate's coming to raid is a rather amazing coincidence to the Admiral going missing
Temperance: The timing of everything just falls into place for some reason...
Inv Zora Polasis: I don't believe it's a coincidence
Lirtimya: The pirates stop when the admiral gets here, it would make sense the pirates may want revenge
Lirtimya: If this was a target they hit often, they may want that profit back
Rothuss Carder: Rothuss is down in the common room, running his shtick for anyone interested, or watching out the windows and doors if no one is.
Inv Zora Polasis: I really hope the Duke's son is not involved in all this
Temperance: That's true. I'm trying to figure out how the footprints and the sirens fall into this tangle of a case.
Temperance: We've had so many different accounts it's been hard to keep track, despite all the writing.
Inv Zora Polasis: Could sirens have left Jereth in his condition?
Inv Zora Polasis: I've never seen one
Temperance: I haven't traveled the seas long enough to meet one myself. I've only heard tales about how they lure sailors to their deaths.
Lirtimya: Remember, he didn't like the word pirates
Inv Zora Polasis: I am thinking the Admiral was strong enough to stop all the pirates before so for the pirates to defeat him now they would need something strong
Inv Zora Polasis: Like a pirate alliance and whatever magic they are using
Inv Zora Polasis: It was my understanding that sirens are just destructive and not necessarily as calculating as what has happened
Lirtimya: Or surprise, you don't need a larger, or stronger, force to take someone down if you can catch them off guard
Temperance: The Admiral had his own priest for his fleet. Perhaps they found one for theirs.
Temperance: Or a mage. Whoever can perform magic, I suppose.
Inv Zora Polasis: A powerful one. The Admiral was on patrol so I hope he had his guard up
Inv Zora Polasis: And to lose 3 ships?
Temperance: That's what puzzles me a bit. How do three ships disappear just like that?
Lirtimya: It would need to be a strong illusionist to have those footprints with flames there for so long
Inv Zora Polasis: Lirt do you have any thoughts from a magical perspective?
Inv Zora Polasis: Or want to bet that we see Ruffus in the tavern at breakfast alone because Vee is tied to a bed in the Mayor’s house?
Lirtimya: Mages much stronger than myself can control the seas themselves, the air, the ground, and really anything, just one mage with enough power would be enough given the right time and resources
Inv Zora Polasis: That could take down three ships.
Inv Zora Polasis: Very interesting Lirtimya
Temperance: We did see that elemental... creature in the water before we got to Mizzen.
Lirtimya thinks on her magical studies.
Lirtimya: [CHECK] Intelligence (vs. Target 16) [SUCCESS by 6] [d20 = 10]
Lirtimya: If the priest betrayed the Admiral, then they could have cast a spell called faerie fire, which I think outlines an object or person in this light, and basically just burns them, and it can be green. If it's a mage I can think of this spell called Fireflow, which allows the control of non-magic fires
Inv Zora Polasis: Now that sounds possible!
Inv Zora Polasis: I hate to think anyone from the church would align with pirates though
Temperance: It is always a possibility.
Temperance: Not everyone who becomes a Priest ends up working for the right reasons.
Lirtimya: A lot of people who gain power let it corrupt them
Inv Zora Polasis: Yes there are priests that serve gods that are more evil than good I suppose. I haven't met any
Lirtimya: So it would make sense this priest maybe just wanted more power, with the pirates
Temperance: The Duke also mentioned that he wasn't sure if he knew any powerful mages within the area.
Temperance: Though I suppose the pirates could find one...
Temperance: I'm not certain of what they're capable of.
Lirtimya: If it is a pirate coalition as you suggested, they may have sourced a mage from farther away
Temperance: takes out her notebook and proceeds to write these conjectures.
Temperance: Going back to priests who are more malevolently aligned... didn't we end up finding some ceremonial sacrificial place earlier in our adventures?
Lirtimya: We did
Temperance: Made of stone, had some whipping post of some sort....
Temperance: wrinkles her brows together, most likely gathering more premature wrinkles.
Lirtimya: Do you think this could be connected to that?
Temperance: I'm... not sure. Talks about malevolent priests made me recall what we encountered.
Temperance: Like I said, pirate raids aren't necessarily my expertise. I've stayed doing paperwork for far too long.
Lirtimya: It could be, it may have followers who are pirates, and they could be here, it's a good thing to mention
Temperance: If Vee were here instead of with.... the insufferable Citrus man then perhaps we could have gotten a perspective. She knows the seas, like Lirtimya.
Inv Zora Polasis: I don't know if we have to think too much on exactly who other than to know that whoever was helping the pirates and took the Admiral and three ships and did what they did to Jereth must be powerful. Or at least I would think so
Inv Zora Polasis: Well maybe Vee will be in a good mood tomorrow and we can ask her
Lirtimya: The priest that was on that ship could be a part of this, betrayal from his closest advisor, or whatever the priest was, would be unexpected, and easy
Temperance: nods at the conjectures and scribbles a few notes.
Inv Zora Polasis: nods
Temperance: It is definitely good to cover all bases. Someone with this level of power could be either or.
Evening with Vee and Ruffus at the Mayor’s House
Britta Schiebler: Opens the door to her house in the storm to let Vee and Ruffus inside
Britta Schiebler: You two look like drowned rats
Vee Barlett: Yar, not my best look.
Britta Schiebler: Stay there, take off those wet clothes and I will get you some robes
Ruffus DeOrange: Thank you Mayor
Ruffus DeOrange: But we can ....
Ruffus DeOrange: She left
Ruffus DeOrange: Looks at Vee
Vee Barlett: Hopefully to get some clothes.
Vee Barlett: starts taking off her outer layer
Ruffus DeOrange: Who do you want to tell her who you are?
Vee Barlett: Salt water fine but this just makes me feel like a wet rat.
Vee Barlett: Only if it benefits me, but don't seem like it lately.
Ruffus DeOrange: Pulls off his boots
Ruffus DeOrange: Hangs up his jacket
Ruffus DeOrange: Shakes out his hair
Vee Barlett: Guess I'll stick with Violet.
Britta Schiebler: So what are you two doing out in such a storm?
Britta Schiebler: The boys will have been struggling to beat it back
Vee Barlett: To beat it back?
Britta Schiebler: why would you try to get out ahead of it
Britta Schiebler: The storm?
Vee Barlett: Ah, sorry. Thought you meant magic or somethin'
Vee Barlett: Yar, just caught us unawares is all.
Britta Schiebler: I could feel it in my bones, my hip aches something fierce like these
Britta Schiebler: Nah no magic in a storm like that
Britta Schiebler: Those are the ones that you need to worry about
Vee Barlett: Magic storms hit here often?
Britta Schiebler: back in 62, there was a hella of a fight between some storm giants
Britta Schiebler: Tore the lighthouse right up and threw it
Vee Barlett: Musta been quite a sight! If'n you was at a safe distance.
Ruffus DeOrange: Mayor I am very grateful for the towels and robes
Ruffus DeOrange: Hands one over to Vee
Vee Barlett: takes it gratefully
Ruffus DeOrange: Rubs her hair in the towel
Ruffus DeOrange: Turns back to Britta, Mayor, if we can be a slight burden tonight, there was no more room at the Inn
Ruffus DeOrange: Could we arrange to have one of your rooms please?
Britta Schiebler: Looks at Ruffus with a twist in her mouth
Britta Schiebler: Looks over Vee
Britta Schiebler: Do you trust this one?
Vee Barlett: inwardly sighs and tries to put on her Violet persona
Vee Barlett: Not in the slightest, but I do like comfort.
Britta Schiebler: Then maybe you do have some sense
Britta Schiebler: His father was worse by the way
Vee Barlett: How so?
Britta Schiebler: Always trying to hide here
Vee Barlett: Hidin' from what?
Britta Schiebler: Pirates that he stole from
Vee Barlett: laughs
Vee Barlett: That be startin' to explain some things.
Ruffus DeOrange: He is, well was, is not, he... a privateer not a pirate
Ruffus DeOrange: He does not sail at all now
Ruffus DeOrange: Stays in Osterhold and runs the family
Vee Barlett: Only met one privateer I liked and he ran off after we made him babysit.
Britta Schiebler: What was his favorite fruit?
Vee Barlett: shrugs
Britta Schiebler: Chuckles
Vee Barlett: Only know he didn't know how to babysit.
Britta Schiebler: There will be no pirating in this house
Britta Schiebler: and no hiding
Vee Barlett: He did like to flirt, but ain't no surprise. That be the lot of them.
Britta Schiebler: Is there anyone who knows you are here?
Vee Barlett: Only my crew but ain't sure they know the directions. Rain hid that.
Britta Schiebler: I owe your father a favor there Ruffus, but don't take advantage too much
Vee Barlett: He hide here so how ya owe him a favor?
Ruffus DeOrange: I promise you will not hear anything
Ruffus DeOrange: He pays his debts
Vee Barlett: Well then she wouldn't owe him.
Ruffus DeOrange: and Red Hook has been profitable
Ruffus DeOrange: For many people
Ruffus DeOrange: smiles with Britta
Vee Barlett: keeps her mouth shut
Britta Schiebler: Shakes her head, you try to make everything sound like one of your songs
Vee Barlett: grumbles, “Only skill he actually proven to have”
Britta Schiebler: His father helped us rebuild and one of his ships protected us from a pirate raid
Britta Schiebler: We have kept a safe space for ships who do not want to travel mixed into the Sirens
Vee Barlett: Hmm...
Britta Schiebler: It has worked well for us for a good while
Vee Barlett: Ya heard anything about them raids happenin' again?
Britta Schiebler: Hush
Britta Schiebler: Let's hope that does not happen
Vee Barlett: Some dockhand mentioned somethin' about footprints, tho. We got to be worried while we here?
Britta Schiebler: A runner came over the mountain two days ago looking for information for the Duke
Vee Barlett: Yar?
Britta Schiebler: I am not happy with the pranks or threats, depending on which you think they are
Vee Barlett: Which one YOU think it be?
Vee Barlett: You been her long, yeah?
Britta Schiebler: I think they are both
Ruffus DeOrange: No one will threaten you for long
Vee Barlett: Have dead pirates ever returned?
Britta Schiebler: Snorts
Vee Barlett: snorts as well
Britta Schiebler: Dead Men tell no tales
Vee Barlett: But them undead do.
Britta Schiebler: unless you have a good priest around
Vee Barlett: Maybe it ain't a powerful mage but a powerful priest...
Britta Schiebler: Keep your priests near by during times like these
Vee Barlett: Everyone Keldorian around these parts?
Britta Schiebler: Certainly
Vee Barlett: Trask followers around?
Britta Schiebler: I could not say
Britta Schiebler: None here in Hook that I know
Vee Barlett: None sayin' it out loud, you mean.
Britta Schiebler: Nods
Vee Barlett: Anyone pissed off here recently?
Britta Schiebler: Look you need to get to bed and dry out
Britta Schiebler: Both of you,
Britta Schiebler: I will start a fire and dry these things for you
Vee Barlett: Appreciate it, ma’am.
Britta Schiebler: No food for you, that has been put aside for the evening
Britta Schiebler: But he can go out and fetch something if you need
Vee Barlett: That'd be lovely, if'n ya don't mind. I was lookin' forward to dinner.
Britta Schiebler: Don't wake Glenda
Vee Barlett: Who?
Britta Schiebler: I will make sure you get a good breakfast
Britta Schiebler: have a good night you two, second door on the right
Ruffus DeOrange: Thank you Mayor
Vee Barlett: bites her tongue and nods
Vee Barlett: She don't talk as much as I'd have liked.
Ruffus DeOrange: Ushers Vee into the bedroom
Ruffus DeOrange: She must like you to talk as much as she did
Ruffus DeOrange: I have spent a day here and not had to speak to me at all
Vee Barlett: But maybe it makin' more sense why you claim yer dad hates me.
Ruffus DeOrange: just gestures and waving a quill
Vee Barlett: Hmm, well guess I'll stay on her good side then.
Ruffus DeOrange: wraps the towel tight around Vee and rubs
Ruffus DeOrange: then sets her down into the bed
Ruffus DeOrange: you stay here
Ruffus DeOrange: stay warm
Vee Barlett: watches him suspiciously
Ruffus DeOrange: I want to listen
Ruffus DeOrange: He moves to the window
Ruffus DeOrange: and cracks it open just a bit to let the sound of the rain enter
Evening in the Tavern with Rothuss
and Rothuss is spinning his tales in the bar as the rain drizzles outside
Rothuss Carder: [SKILL] Musical Instrument [MOD:DEX] (vs. Target 13) [FAILURE by 6] [d20 = 19]
Rothuss Carder: [SKILL] Ventriloquism [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 11) [SUCCESS by 0] [d20 = 11]

Rothuss Carder: [CHECK] Charisma (vs. Target 16) [SUCCESS by 7] [d20 = 9]
Rothuss Carder: is mostly doing small skits and stories to keep conversation flowing in between them, and talking to the locals, getting background, and what they think is going on.
and Rothuss does learn from his customers who are avoiding the rain and staying inside....
The boats here mostly are fishing the waters north of Mizzen,
That the larger sailing ships that bring trade from Seagate south to Borinquen and south seem to have been fuller and more frequent
The rougher western shores of the big island are not seeing the trade, and the Duke of Sirens Call seems to be building up more ships
So yes to potentially more pirates, but the Duke normally does not raid ships, he protects them,
Rothuss Carder: Asks the locals - if there was a local mischief maker in the village who might be guilty, who is it? If there is one, of course.
Everyone gives you the name Per Hauger
Rothuss Carder: will try to remember that name
He has made effigies of people that he lit on fire
The night passes uneventfully
The group all sleeps restfully and starts the day fresh tomorrow to head to Jilanth
