Weapon - Net Cost: Weight: 10 Damage: Properties: range 2/3/4, attack/rnd 1/2 Net. Rarely used as a weapon, the net is only found n unusual settings. A fighting net often features small barbs or weights in the weave and a trailing rope for guidance and contol over netted targets. The net's only unction in hand-to-hand combat is to block, trap, or disarm an opponent; it cannot strike effectively for damage. The net is most dangerous when it is thrown at an enemy. Only the target's Dexterity and magical adjust ments to Armor Class count. If the net hits, it may trap he opponent's weapon and shield. If the victim is rapped, he can only break free by making a Strength check. In future rounds the net user has the choice of leaving the net where it is and attacking with another weapon or of trying to improve the capture. To improve the net's capture, the netter loops the trailing rope around the target. This requires another attack roll (as before, only count Dexterity and magic.) If the netter hits, the victim's effective Strength drops by 4 for purposes of getting out of the net. Nets must be folded properly to be effectively thrown. The first time a character throws his net in a fight, he makes a normal attack roll. After the net is unfolded, it can only by thrown with a - 4 penalty to hit. It takes 2 combat rounds for a proficient user to fold a net.

BOB So to answer Lisa's question earlier, Yes they are that easy

BOB Angleburg is a fishing city of some 1500 people, the only city on Angler Island, taking advantage of the natural protection offered by both the high cliffs surrounding most of the island (averaging a mostly vertical height of 700 feet) and the enclosing bay. The Potentate's family is a noble one, and rules by virtue of land rights granted by mainland powers. The various Merchants' Guilds, when united by some issue (such as stopping sea-devil raids that sadly cut into profits), between them hold power almost equal to the Potentate's; thus, keeping them disunited most of the time is a major goal of the Potentate's policy. The majority of the citizens make their living by fishing and pearling, while a few renowned shipwrights craft a variety of different styles of ships to order. Due to a steady trade with the mainland and various distant ports, the Angleburg Markets offer a wide range of both common and esoteric items at inflated prices (2x standard rates). By contrast, fresh fish and other sea-harvested cuisine are plentiful, with great variety at bargain prices. Visitors to the city can choose from a variety of seaside hostels and inns whose characters differ. A favorite of many who visit Angleburg often is Leroi's Sweetclover Inn, where black-bearded, blue-eyed Leroi brews a mean Redhawk Ale, the taste of which is rumored to have brought a smile even to the lips of Guiruis the Sea Prince. Additionally, the accommodations at the Sweetclover Inn are clean and can be had at a reasonable price 2 gp per head a night).
