Lessons Learned One 2-9-353 SKR
Jilly, Nevin, Demitrius, and Dahlia on the side of the moat crying
Nevin holds Jilly tighter as they cradle the young body. Demitrius crying, "Mother would fix this" Dalia crying, "We need to go to Aunt Kenna, She can fix this, She can bring him back. Mother would want us to do everything..." Nevin looks up, "Your mother is not here, I hope she returns soon, We all do. We cannot guess at what she would want..." Jilly with her head down, "No, we know. I know Branwyn. She would be here crying with us at our loss. But she would not force this choice on anyone. She believes that we are here to do our best, to try and do good. We get one life and we should use it. When that time comes we need to accept that and appreciate the whole of the story." Jilly sobs a bit harder and leans over the small boy limp on her lap, grabbing onto Dahlia and squeezing. "If he was still breathing I know you would do everything for him, just like your mother. Now we have to let go and and keep his memory in our hearts." Dahlia angry through her tears, "But we can bring him back, I know we can" Nevin shakes his head sadly. Jilly looks up and stares into Dahlia's eyes through her tears. "NO, we do not do that. THAT is how Black Cloak became so evil. We do not, We do NOT take ownership of someone after they die. NO ONE has that right to go against someone's wishes." Dahlia's tears continued to stream down as she nodded.
Two days later on 4-9-353 SKR a candle was lit in the family niche at the Church of Otterville for little Indigo who drowned.
Jennivive's Third Visit 23-8-354 SKR
“Jilly, I think we should talk about what will happen to Dragon Fen if Branwyn does not return. It has been years, with no word. “ “Thistle said she is ok. I will go after her if she needs to be saved.”
Taking a drink from her cup, Jennivive nodded, “I have no doubt that you will try to do that.”
Jilly nodded.
“So, tell me what happens then? After you leave? What if something happens to you? There are two young children who need fostering and a regent already. If you go running off what will happen to your children?”
“Well, Nevin has Kenna to help, Geoffery has shown an interest in the church, and the Estate is running well.” Jilly refilled Jennivive’s cup. “Ilero is doing well as the Regent. That long lost brother who tried to weasel his way in did not last past the first day. And did you hear how panicked that false Branwyn was when Ilero said that he was glad she was here to work with the Brotherhood again and their testing?”
Jennivive smiled, “Yes but can he continue without assistance? You are quite capable but even you cannot be everywhere in the Estate. We need to bring the children to Court soon.”
“The biggest problem we have had in the last two year is from Red Cloak,” Jilly scowled. “When he showed up and tried to tell Snee that he was going to move into the caves below the Cathedral it was a stupid attempt to insert himself into Dragon Fen again. But he left after Snee gave him that special wine that Johan helped me make. It is quite good isn’t?”
Jennivive arched her eyebrow and gave Jilly a look, “What exactly is it?” Jennivive discretely cast Remove Poison on herself. Jilly laughed, “See you are so much smarter than he is.”
Jennivive snarled, “WHAT DID YOU DO”
Jilly smiled and waved her spoon, “Nothing that you need to worry about. It is really quite simple. A powder that we discovered from a friend. When you mix it into someone’s drink it is almost tasteless. But when you take in enough of it it make the effects of Mist Sickness twice as bad as normal. “ Jennive pondered, “That would only affect someone who was coming into The Mist, it would have no effect on Dragon Fen. Unless someone were to…..” looking at Jilly with a nod at the inventiveness. “So tell me how long do the effects last?”
Jilly shrugged, “Actually we do not know, no one who we tested it on has left The Mist to come back in to trigger it. “
“And tell me just what did you do to lure Red out of the caves at Skull Church to go… where? How did you convince him to travel again? “Well, that was the hard part. We tried a couple of things but the one that worked was the chance to become…” Jilly paused. Jennivive exclaimed, “the next adviser to the Ambassador. How could you have planned that? There is no way you would have known…. Regor. Of course. “ Jilly just smiled and drank more of the wine.
“Do be careful when you go past Hourglass. The Inn might be tempting, I would advise against it.”
Jennivive nodded, “Perhaps Dragon Fen is in good hands at the moment..
