Cypress Borough
On the northeast edge of Dragon Fen is Cypress Borough. The organic rich soil has resulted in the appearance of a few small farms, but the land is not easy to tame. In truth, the town itself sits within a cypress swamp, in the middle where the soil is rich, but the trees are fewer due to a previous peat fire of unknown cause and incredibly length of time burning.
For those not interested in farming, Cypress Borough and its nearby habitat provide great fishing and unparalleled bird watching. For the avid fisherman, bass, perch, and panfish can be caught while for the birders, many warblers inhabit the area. A few weeks a year, migrations pass through the area providing a wide variety of birds to be seen besides the resident hummingbirds, sparrows, egrets, and ducks. Visitors best watch their feet, though, or a trumpet vine, while beautiful in bloom, may trip them up and send them crashing into alligator infested waters.
