Here's a list of KloOgeShortcuts but if you don't know what the elements are called, it can be confusing. Feel free to update this page with any plain language fixes you've got.
Fast way to roll initiative - click on your character and then press I.
Fast way to "Chat as" - click on the character and the press C. Press X to get out of "Chat as".
To put a chat entry field on the map, you can press T. To exit it, press Esc. Or Enter, if you didn't get around to putting text in.
Fast way to end your turn in combat - hit the end button
If your cursor turns into a plus inside a circle, hit P to make it return to normal.
If the list of players and characters on the left (the campaign tree) goes missing, hit 1.
This thing is the program toolbar. If it goes missing, hit 2.
If you target somebody and you can't get rid of the "string" or line, right-click into a blank area of the map.
This is the icon toolbar. If this goes missing you are supposed to use ' (single quote) to get it back. This didn't work for me though, so I had to find it in Edit > Preferences. Do a search for icon toolbar and make sure that Dock Icon Toolbar is on and Hide Icon Toolbar is off.
This is the map thumbnail. I nearly lost my freaking mind. If it vanishes, first make sure you have the icon toolbar as above, then make sure in Edit > Preferences that Map Thumbnail In Icon Toolbar is on.
Two ways to move the map around. One is to move the rectangle in the map thumbnail. Another way I just learned is to hold down Alt. When your cursor becomes a hand, keep holding down alt, but click inside the main map and while holding down the left mouse button, move the mouse to shift the map around. So it's Alt, left mouse button, and move.
If you need your dice panel (Dice Expressions) in a hurry, click on your character then press D. If you just press D, you might get the generic Roll Dice dialog, or you might even get someone else's dice panel!
There are three different main dice rolling tools in Klooge.
- Dice Expressions aka dice panel (click character then D).
- Roll Dice aka arbitrary roll (click empty space then D, or click a character and then R) as mentioned above.
- Roll Dem Bones. Click the below icon on the program panel to do that. Or click Plug-Ins > New Dice Roller Pane to get it in a new tab.

And then there's a 4th Custom Dice thing in the View menu too that I know nothing about.
To add consumable goods (potions, goodberries, etc.) to your dice panel, first go to your character sheet, click the Edit button, and enter the item in "Equipment, Consumable Magic Items". Make sure to fill in number and cost per use, even if you just put 1 in each. Put a dice expression into the Expressions field. Example {+1d2} just rolls a D2. Click the Commit button. On your Dice Expressions dice panel you will have a wee tab to the right of the rest of them. Click it to find your items.
