Hoffman

Hoffman speaks frankly, shortly after the boat race.

"I know those that think they know me think I am a preacher, maybe even a priest. I assure you I am not. I only try to explain and even remind myself that my life is not my own. I have not always been like this. There was a time not long ago, I was brash and bold and feared no one. My life was such a wretch, I do not even remember any of it. I awoke four and a half years ago with blood on my hands and a lump on my head the size of my fist. Dead bodies all around and only the caring eyes of a little old woman to me me the tale of how I lead my party to their death. She convinced me of my mistakes I am thankful not to remember and made me swear never to let me forget, my life is not mine own. First it was hers, as I recuperated and repaid my debt to her. Then when I lost her I found my way and soon realized GOD was watching over me, leading me to where I am today. And now again back to you. Here is to the future, what what ever it may bring.

So my travels bring me around the DragonSlayers once again. My travels, while not very exciting, has seem to have a purpose. Not only have a found a brother of the soul but I have found another lost soul on a journey to find herself. She helped me find my brother and I have returned the favor by guiding her to a new teacher. While I doubt we will ever settle down for too long, maybe we have found a home.

While everyone is away during The Enemy of my Enemy a scroll is delivered on behalf of Hoffman, along with a wood carving of a tall and thin teddy bear.

"I hope this finds you well, or at least doing good for others. By the time you read this I will be dead for the last time. Before I do, I want to say I have been watching you and I am happy I did not kill you. It was not a choice I took for granted, even after I cast upon you. Now I know it was the right thing to do. Please take this keepsake from your past and remember me alway.

Hoffman went with the flow, hanging out with whom he would consider his extended family or as Miranda would come to call it, his tribe. He had his time to let loose and let out his rage but when the time for that was over, Miranda was there to calm him. They grew closer and soon it was clear how important Miranda was to him and he was willing to change to keep her happy. He went so far to settle in a city to let her be her best self. It almost drove him mad and made them question if they were gonna make it until fate came to the rescue and got them back on the road. The openness of nature allowed them to open up to each other. Near death experiences gave them clarity of who they were individually and that made it clear they were ment to be together.
