[mikE] so for a 'permanent or continual spell effect' i'd only get two modifications/day

[mikE] the way i was thinking i chose it to go to my to hit. just granting me a 15% bonus to my to hit.

[Fritz] To Mike. Actually If it is permanent you could modify any spell at any time anyway you wanted that would be to much.

[Fritz] My suggestion is to modify it a bit

[mikE] bob thinks this is very limiting, although i think his is even more so

[DM] not any spell, any roll, no matter what

[mikE] right. i thought that would be way too much, as well. i was only really looking for it to affect the one roll. i am willing to pay the points for that one roll.

[Lorie] you could modify the actions... as specified in the spell

[DM] the two extremes seem to be: permanent all rolls effecting a creature or only one particular roll for one creature (assumed to be the priest)

[Fritz] I would suggest that if it is a permant ability cast on him that he had to pay for it with XP's like a permanent magic item. It would be costly. The other thing is that I would make it work only once a day as per the duration of the spell.

[Fritz] Also he could modify any roll he wanted to

[DM] he is paying the same cost as major access to a priest sphere

[DM] and minor access to another one

[Lorie] So I would argue for 1-3 times per day, but you have to declare what action is affected before using the power

[mikE] so i had to revoke the use of scrolls and wands and staves, and gave up some of my health (reduced hit die) and this devotion had him help me shoot better.

[mikE] well, if he granted barkskin to me, he'd have to declare it when he cast it.

[mikE] if i had permanent bark skin, my god would have to specify i get the effects of barkskin always and forever.

[mikE] instead, i asked a boon to shoot better for my god of archery (there's the plug) and he granted me the permanent effect of a probablity control over my shooting.

[Lorie] But my question is, why would he choose you a random 7th level cleric for any power that isn't normally granted?

[mikE] because he likes me.

[mikE] i think we're veering off our mechanics issue here.

[mikE] mechanics state i can spend 14 points to have a permanent spell effect of 4th level

[DM] will need to dig out a back up copy,
