Conversation with Meleager the Lion
This is the transcript of the conversation between the Dragonslayers and Meleager the Lion near the end of Deep Dark Dangerous.
[Lydia (BOB)] smiles at the group
[Lydia (BOB)] gestures over to Meleager who is laying on a mushroom cap, blinking
[Lydia (BOB)] I am staying for this little conversation
[Lydia (BOB)] so I thought that it would make things go a little quicker if he was forced to tell the truth
[Lydia (BOB)] the effects will wear off in an hour or so
[Finglas (Death)] "Yes. That would help."
[Finglas (Death)] "We are back Meleager."
[Meleager (BOB)] nods
[Finglas (Death)] "We have destroyed the scepter, killed the mad priest, destroyed the medusa."
[Meleager (BOB)] did you really do it?
[Meleager (BOB)] what medusa?
[Meleager (BOB)] and how do I know you killed that priest?
[Finglas (Death)] ::smiles:: "The one inhabbiting the temple in hell."
[Finglas (Death)] ::shows the circlet::
[Finglas (Death)] "Just a cheap trinket now."
[john] ::keeps straight face::
[Finglas (Death)] "One half of the set does quite little."
[Finglas (Death)] ::hands it to Paul::
[Finglas (Death)] "Now for your end of the bargain. Tell us of your masters."
[john] ::nods, and takes it::
[Meleager (BOB)] are you really prepared to take them on?
[Meleager (BOB)] just telling you would be a death sentence to me
[Meleager (BOB)] if you do not swear to actually act
[john] :x
[Finglas (Death)] "We will deal with your masters. Now tell us."
[Meleager (BOB)] I want you to swear it
[Meleager (BOB)] looks at the gnome
[Meleager (BOB)] you are new here, why should I trust you
[Finglas (Death)] "I told you we will kill your masters as our enemies. If you do not do what you said you would, I will kill you here before your masters even get to you."
[Moirra (Kaz)] I am not new, actually. Merely in a new form.
[Finglas (Death)] "Then, because of the losses we have suffered on your errand you were too weak to deal with yourself, I will raise you, and kill you again. Slowly."
[Moirra (Kaz)] You merely seek an excuse to not uphold your part of the bargain.
[Meleager (BOB)] he stares at Finglas, I understand you think that now, but I want you to swear on it
[Finglas (Death)] "Now what of your masters?"
[Meleager (BOB)] that you will finish this
[Meleager (BOB)] I do not want to risk that you will be too afraid to finish
[Meleager (BOB)] or that the task is too great
[Finglas (Death)] "I swear that if you play games with me I will take you to the hell we walked through and leave you there."
[Meleager (BOB)] I want my revenge
[Meleager (BOB)] but I want to live to enjoy it
Moirra (Kaz)] storms over to Meleager and gets right in his face
[Moirra (Kaz)] TOO AFRAID?
[Finglas (Death)] "I have fought my way through hell twice. You think your masters will scare me?" ::honestly laughs at the prospect::
[Moirra (Kaz)] I wasn't too afraid to die for the errand YOU weren't strong enough or brave enough to undertake.
[Moirra (Kaz)] NOW GIVE US THE INFORMATION YOU SWORE TO GIVE!
[Finglas (Death)] ::wipes his eyes and puts a hand on Moirra's shoulder::
[Finglas (Death)] "Have you ever seen a truly angry and vengeful elf?"
[Finglas (Death)] "I'd bet if our hostess hasn't, she's heard the tales."
[Finglas (Death)] "It is a sight to behold when one takes up the black mask of vengeance."
[Finglas (Death)] "They are no longer bound by the morals we hold dear."

[Finglas (Death)] "Do you really want to test me little man?"
[Finglas (Death)] "My brother was a casualty of your weakness."

[Liam Dugan (Guy) (to BOB only)] is there an honest chance of liam getting his bow back or should i not even try?
[Finglas (Death)] "Your masters will surely die for what they have done, but you, I will take the utmost pleasure in killing."

[Meleager (BOB) (to Guy only)] Kaz has a plan
[Finglas (Death)] "Now speak."
[Finglas (Death)] "I will swear no more promises to one as weak willed as you are."
Meleager (BOB)] smiles
[Meleager (BOB)] you do not know the depths you will have to dredge yet

[Meleager (BOB)] Juvenal will blast the earth from under your feet
[Finglas (Death)] ::smiles:: "Nothing we can't do."

[Meleager (BOB)] now there are eight that I have been forsworn
[Meleager (BOB)] and I killed Celsus
[Meleager (BOB)] The priest Juvenal, my brother Menander who is also a priest
[Meleager (BOB)] Father Cyprian is the third leg of their triangle
[Finglas (Death)] "Priests of what god?"
[Meleager (BOB)] Velleius Raptu and Herodes are all warriors of strong arms and as hard to crush as diamon
[Meleager (BOB)] then you have Caecilius who is as strong as 4 men
[Meleager (BOB)] you will require all the cunning of the jackal and the slippiness of the snake to even get close to them
[Meleager (BOB)] I know that my brother continued to follow the faith of our anscenstors but I do not know who the other two follow
[Meleager (BOB)] he pauses to take a deep breath
[Meleager (BOB)] and the leader
[Meleager (BOB)] a man of cunning and skill
[Meleager (BOB)] he will see you coming and stop you
[Meleager (BOB)] then my life will be for naught
[Meleager (BOB)] tell me Finglas of the trees, air and earth
[Meleager (BOB)] how will you be able to track across the oceans and find Blue Gill in his lair

[Meleager (BOB)] he has held a grudge against the Dragonslayers for many years
[Meleager (BOB)] you would not leave him alone even after so many years

[Finglas (Death)] "Oh by the gods, the Dragonslayers could have saved themselves the trouble if they had killed him when they went out to sea last."
[Finglas (Death)] "Didn't they kill one of his people years ago?"
[Finglas (Death)] "Shouldn't there be seven now?"
[john] "Well, they were nicer back then"
[john] "one?"
[Finglas (Death)] "You would have been there. I read about it in the journals. Something about the end of the world in a pyramid."
[Meleager (BOB)] we all tried to live up to the tales of the men who followed him before
[Finglas (Death)] "From what I heard an elementary wizard's spell undid that 'great man'."
[Finglas (Death)] ::smirks::
[Meleager (BOB)] he managed to create his hiding place despite your efforts
[Finglas (Death)] "Now then, start by telling us where each man is."
[Meleager (BOB)] I do not know
[Meleager (BOB)] that is Blue Gill's genius
[Meleager (BOB)] he has hidden his base away from the world
[Meleager (BOB)] no one can find it
[john] "out of touch huh?"

[Meleager (BOB)] You will have to find and infiltrate the missing island
[Meleager (BOB)] and then deal with the army of pirates under Blue Gill
[Finglas (Death)] "So we get to play at pirates."
[Meleager (BOB)] he will keep his group arrayed for both defense and to keep a watch for opportunities to attadck

[Meleager (BOB)] I know that there is a plan
[Finglas (Death)] "Funny, we've already done that once."
[Meleager (BOB)] but I was not privy to it
[Finglas (Death)] "Because he knew you were weak, probably."
[Finglas (Death)] "We can beat it out of the others if you would tell us where they are."
[Meleager (BOB)] I do not know
[Finglas (Death)] "You do not know where anyone is?"
[Meleager (BOB)] I have heard that only Blue Gill knows how to get in and out of the Island
[john2 (to Kaz only)] still here
[Finglas (Death)] "You can only give us names?"
[Meleager (BOB)] it was a shock to everyone when your agent showed up
[Finglas (Death)] "You don't even know what gods your companions worship?"
[Meleager (BOB)] they were amazed that he made it

[Finglas (Death)] "Are you really that big of an idiot?"

[Moirra (Kaz) (to john2 only)] not so much confused, but there is a lot I will have to catch up on, since I wasn't here at the time.
[Finglas (Death)] "My god, you are all idiots for that then. Nothing more than common pawns in Ozzy's schemes."
[john2 (to Kaz only)] just think Lex and Superman, Batman and joker
[Finglas (Death)] "You fight for him for no real reasons."

[Meleager (BOB)] Those that are loyal to him reap rewards, those that are not do not live

[Finglas (Death)] "You are useless. I could give you a detailed strategy on how to destroy the Dragonslayers. I could give you names, stregnths, weaknesses, attack patters...... You really know nothing. So stupid."
[Finglas (Death)] "You ask us to kill your enemies for you, and give us nothing."
[john2] Maybe he is asking for more for the info?
[Meleager (BOB)] sneers, until I told you this you had no idea who was closing in for the kill
[Finglas (Death)] "You are either an idiot for not helping us kill those you want killed as much as you can, or an idiot who allowed himself to know nothing of his so called companions."
