A Record of Events
I. Contact
A port in Mizzen. Pen____de, 6th Fey (Winter), 586 SGR.
The contact is successful. As planned, I’ve attempted to exchange a word or two with a scruffy looking sailor, who I wager is the Captain of the ship. He speaks more in drunken songs rather than coherent sentences. It is fortunate that they were in need of extra limbs to assist around.
I deem it best to keep focus on attempting to commit their names to memory. According to experience, everything is within the will and reason of the High Priestess. I trust that she will inquire about them, no matter how little of an interest I hold for humans.
The group is comprised of the following: Captain Ciannait Flame, ‘Vee’, ‘Lirt’, ‘Matty’, ‘Rothuss’, ‘Jericho’, ‘Levi’, ‘Melange’, ‘Gideana’, and another whose name I’ve yet to catch. Whether their forms of address are within legal records or simply aliases they go by is yet to be known. Jericho and Gideana are within service to their deities; Vee’s most noticeable skillset is her confidence with handling the sea; ‘Matty’ habitually keeps his hands on his blades; Levi and Melange put their strength to assist in rowing the ship.
It is of small fortune that Priestess Gideana is more open to sharing details about herself. There is no need for me to engage in useless pleasantry, and it allows me to listen whilst they talk around me.
II. Eagles and Whales
Mid____de, 7th Man (Early Spring), 586 SGR
Around late afternoon, we encounter some sort of sea creature. A whale of sorts, from its size and general appearance, but I was not able to get a close enough look to be sure of its exact species. Evidently, it’d been nudging the ship thinking it to be a food source; Vee is able to convince it to look for food elsewhere.
It’s approximately around suppertime that the Giant Eagle decides to take an interest in the ship. A fearsome creature to behold, for certain, with its sharpened beak and talons, equipped with wings for flight if able. I believe the breeze from its wings could easily knock a human off balance. Regardless, I was able to witness a variety of weapons, including but not limited to bow and arrow, spellwork, bludgeons, and buckets of water. All combined efforts were effective, and they were able to divide the eagle in ways they saw fit.
III. A Bottle of Rum with a Bottle of Rum
Osterhold, Borinquen. Ko____de, 8th Man (Early Spring), 586 SGR.
The bottle of rum exchanges hands. According to their words, the Priest Jericho is beholden to carry out his task by some magical command. Though nothing is ever spoken about in detail, there is some stamp lodged within the liquid that makes it invaluable.
There is some discussion about how to execute this in a way that would be most advantageous for all those involved. While I’d like to say they devise a plan, it is a term I use incredibly loosely, as the only “planned” aspect of it all is the assignment of who will pose as distraction and who will watch their backs. Safe to assume, then, that they are simply relying on their skill to think quickly on their feet. The ruckus that follows is expected, half intended and half improvised. I’d say Rothuss’ silly confidence served as a centerpiece, as the rest either appeared confused or intensely discomfited. Ah, I suppose in exception to the Priest Jericho, who seemed focused on his task and prayer. Perhaps that was the silver lining of it all.
All in all, there are no casualties to be reported. With their tricks successful and the Geas removed, they appear to be in high spirits. Either that or shaken with relief, but it is as they say: all’s well that ends well. Predictably, they open another bottle of rum as a way to celebrate their success with their bottle of rum.
IV. Temple of Orange Sunsets
Agowah, Borinquen. See____de, 9th Man (Early Spring), 586 SGR
On the brink of sunrise, the crew settles in port to pay their respects to the Temple of Orange Sunsets— presumably to have the bottle of rum be returned to its rightful place. It appears that their relationship to this Temple is one that is symbiotic— the Temple assigns them tasks to complete in return for offering its assistance. Admittedly, I am not certain whether they hold this sort of relationship with this specific establishment or with every religious institution.
As the self-appointed spokesperson of this Motley Crew, Vee carries the rum in a discussion with one of the Temple’s Priestesses, and somehow talks of that rum diminish to nothing.
I suppose it concludes that ordeal.
V. A New Assignment
Agowah, Borinquen. See____de, 9th Lec (Early Summer), 586 SGR
Three months at the Temple of Orange Sunsets is a bustle of activity. The Priest Jericho has studied under the Priestess Bronde to further his spellwork. Levi has shown interest in delving into Botany; despite my lack of experience as an instructor of anything, I have endeavored to teach everything I know. In turn, Levi has assisted Melange to be more acutely aware of his surroundings. Vee has received instruction from the navigator mage Lirtimya, though on what exactly I cannot be too certain. I presume it has something to do with sailing and boats and ships.
Vee, the Priest Jericho, ‘Matty’, and I are escorted into a room with the Priestess Michel Chelcein, Mistress of the Third Circle, the Priest Pescal Olmeter, Master of the Sixth Circle, and the Priestess Hilde Finn, Mistress of the Fourth Circle, Believer of Sunsets, Greeter of The Sunrise, Tangled as The Mangrove, Depth of The Banyan Root. Their expected shipment has yet to arrive, and the delay is of concern. The Priest Jericho’s assignment is to find his way to The Church of Mists to inquire about this mishap and return the items. Vee and ‘Matty’ are assigned to accompany him there. My own knowledge of this Church of Mists is as limited as they come; after all, it is quite broadly known that the place is as elusive as the natural phenomena it is named after and, as such, not visited as frequently.
They expect that the crew commence by following daybreak and return by the following month.
