To Bite the Moon - Out of Characters Discussions
A place to plot and plan the raid and the inevitable twists that happen.
As of now there is no sure fire way for the characters to get back to normal form.
Those that were ready for the strike force ** even if one round behind ** are gnolls. When you solve it to return to normal they will transform also. This is a quick short adventure, story is important as much as the solving and combat portions.

The fact that you say we will return to normal makes the turning into gnolls trivial. The fact that one spell changed the entire party is making even a wish too powerful. Not only is the number of characters changed unbelievable but the details that we are gnolls, but still us, but our class changes, still us but we know how to speak gnoll. If we could read and write, can we write gnoll? This is a gimmick, I never thought BOB would use a gimmick. I would rather play an actual gnoll then Paul the gnoll. Thanks anyway.

I admit it is a gimmick. Not that I don't want this to be a real thing, or to be blasé about the idea of turning the entire group into Gnolls is not significant. It is just that the group is so powerful now that undoing a wish like this is almost trivial to the power level of the group. I did want to force you to think in a different way with this adventure, put you in a position to act differently.
I was prepared for you to use Divination, find the sword, swoop in the backdoor way and steal it away. The entire adventure circumvented in a half hour of play. Luckily (for me) that did not happen. With more players at the table to start it would have been longer to adjust to the new circumstances also.
Overall I am happy that I had a fun twist that the group could enjoy and have fun bitching about but not something that dramatically alters the scope of the game. I have more twists and game altering plans for the future planned. Some of those are so possibly campaign breaking that a few players have heard me talk about needing to have a plan for a full campaign restart to first level.

It's annoying to have this happen, and it'll be damn annoying if Bob doesn't have a plan for us to get out of this situation, but barring that, this isn't too bad. It sounds like when the party was shrunk. You did the adventure, then got big again. If we were given gnoll stats along with the looks, then that would be truly sucky. But seeing as we just have some magic stripped from us, it puts us at a handicap, but i don't feel like it's too terrible.
If we actually have to use a wishing well wish or do another bloody adventure to gain a wish from someone, I will be annoyed. I told Bob at the house, yes we're high level, but something like this needs to have a neat conclusion. Or else the scope of wishes will never be the same again. All our wishes from the well can be party based wishes. You just think about that, Bobby.

Of course I have a plan for this, not that that guarantees you will like the plan all that much wry grin
