TMO / Scars

I created this chart as a way of adding quick customizations to randomly generated NPCs, but it's perfectly applicable to PCs as well. These are the scars that result after wounds are healed. Note that some campaigns state that magical healing doesn't leave scars behind. If so, you may want to modify the chart numbers some to reflect how commonly available healing magic is to the character.

The rule of thumb I use is one roll on the tables for each character level of the character.

Table 1 - Severity

1Roll TwiceRoll 2 scars instead
2-41NoneNo scar, stop rolling
42-66Slight
67-81Minor
82-91ModerateMay reduce one substat 0-1 points
92-96MajorMay reduce two substats 0-2 points
97-99CripplingMay reduce three substats 0-3 points
100AmputatedMay reduce four substats 0-4 points

Table 2 - Type

1-15DiseaseTypically results in pock marks, discolorations, or other rough patches
16-30ScrapeSkin looks grated or sand-papered
31-50PunctureResults in a small (maybe) circular scar or pit in the skin
51-70CutResults in lines of scar tissue, may be smooth or jagged.
71-85BiteResults in bite pattern scars
86-100BluntTypically results in bent or crushed bone or ligament. The skin isn't usually directly affected, but follows the underlying deformation.
