BOB You are moving through the woods
BOB you hear water up ahead
N'laea: [SKILL] Observation [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 12) [FAILURE by 2] [d20 = 14]
N'laea: [SKILL] Ranger Tracking [2] [MOD:WIS] (vs. Target 17) [FAILURE by 2] [d20 = 19]
Bixi Fizzlebang: [SKILL] Alertness [MOD:WIS] (vs. Target 14) [SUCCESS by 10] [d20 = 4]
Licornah : [SKILL] Observation (vs. Target 15) [FAILURE by 5] [d20 = 20]
Indigo: Maybe that water is a waterfall!
Bixi Fizzlebang: [SKILL] Botany [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 14) [SUCCESS by 4] [d20 = 10]
N'laea: Only one way to find out.
Branwyn: [SKILL] Observation [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 19) [SUCCESS by 17] [d20 = 2]
BOB Bixi does not sense any nearby danger
BOB Bixi can see that these are all normal healthy trees and shrubs
Bixi Fizzlebang: Yep. This is the woods.
N'laea: [SKILL] Ranger: Move Silently [PERCENT:Ranger: Move Silently] (vs. Target 67) [SUCCESS by 23] [d100 = 44]
N'laea: carefully moving closer to the sound of water
BOB Branwyn can sense a quiet stillness, more of peace than caution
Craigh: stays near the center of the group.
BOB so approaching the sound of water
Branwyn: takes Tiberius' hand
Branwyn: It's so peaceful here
Branwyn: Seems like you are joining us on a nice quiet journey this time
Tiberius: I do miss this with you
Tiberius: It feels like years
Tiberius: I am happy with a little excitement
Tiberius: How much do you want?
Branwyn: I'm afraid a little might all we're going to get. Until we are in the presence of goddesses of course
Branwyn: Or we stray off the path ...
Tiberius: Well then perhaps we should
Tiberius: winks
Branwyn: smiles
Branwyn: Let's see what all this water is about first
BOB N'laea can peer through the bushes and see the edge of a clear pond
BOB nothing visible
N'laea walks over to get a clearer look
Indigo: No waterfall here
N'laea: No. It must be in another part of the forest.
Craigh: Craigh will walk up with her
N'laea: I do not see that... blight, either.
Indigo: But that's good though!
N'laea: [SKILL] Observation [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 12) [FAILURE by 7] [d20 = 19]
N'laea nods
N'laea: I have seen no tracks that may be unicorns, either. So we keep going.
N'laea: Unless you have a spell to help track unicorns, Licornah?
Indigo: All right
Licornah : :: shakes head :: I am not able to assist
Indigo: Is it strange we aren't seeing any animals or people?
Indigo: It would make things easier
Indigo: HELLLOOOOO!!!
Licornah : :: reflexively ducks ::
N'laea: If we were back home, it would mean we were being watched...
Indigo: throws a small rock into the water
N'laea: But I do not know for here.
Raelynn: [SKILL] Religion, Elven [MOD:WIS] (vs. Target 16) [SUCCESS by 5] [d20 = 11]
Sehanine Moonbow: Welcome to Arvanaith. I am surprised you came this far. It is unusual for our people to bring others this deep into our lands. You must be as powerful as I have heard, or as lucky. Looking at Branwyn; Yet one of you does understand the power of Dreams in her own way. Perhaps that is how you have made it this far.
Raelynn: trying to see if there's anything significant here
Licornah : :: keeps in her ducked position, head lowered ::
Craigh: well, I am now going to dissolve into dust
N'laea: suddenly kneels
Branwyn: looks confused
Raelynn: gasps and kneels as well
Branwyn: curtseys
Sehanine's Avatar: See I told you the thieves would show up to attempt to insult and deceive us. First they ambush us, then they steal our cloak, now they appear claiming to be heroes. No doubt looking for a reward or ransom for our holy relic.
Sehanine Moonbow: Is this true? Are you the thieves that stole our cloak?
N'laea: Goddess of Moonlight, it is an honor.
N'laea: I promise upon my oath we are not thieves. We stumbled across your cloak during our travels.
N'laea: We know it is not ours to keep, but to return to you.
Sehanine's Avatar: That is what a thief who is caught would say
N'laea: If it is a lie then may Rillifane strike me down.
Tiberius: Isn't is finders keepers?
Craigh: looks around for lightning bolts
Branwyn: elbows Tiberius lightly
Raelynn: Goddess, we would never steal from the one who brought us life!
Sehanine's Avatar: How did you stumble upon it so casually then
N'laea: shakes head
Sehanine's Avatar: You travel with all of these
Sehanine Moonbow: I do not like this chatter in sound
Sehanine casts beguile, non-Elves save at a minus 16, Elves are not affected
N'laea: I wish I knew, my lady. I have no clue how a manticore came into possession of this nor if it is truly yours, but we dare not risk keeping it.
N'laea: It is not ours.
Craigh: [SAVE] vs. Spell [d20 = 16]
Indigo: smiles, thinking it was his hello that summoned goddesses
Indigo: [SAVE] vs. Spell [CON +3] [d20+3 = 17]
Branwyn: [SAVE] vs. Spell [d20 = 14]
Bixi Fizzlebang: [SAVE] vs. Spell [CON +3] [d20+3 = 18]
BOB so Lanek, Talwin, Youtargim all fail, the cat and Tiberius also
<font color="##000000">Now in Elven to those still clear minded
[understood by: Licornah , N'laea, Raelynn]
Sehanine Moonbow : [Translation] Tell me why you are worthy for me to hear.
BOB But the Elves will negotiate for you now
N'laea : [Translation] Goddess of Night, we journeyed here as soon as we could to return what is yours. It should not be in the hands of any other than you. We have tributes as well.
Sehanine's Avatar : [Translation] You stole our cloak then come running back with it to prove you should not have it?
N'laea : [Translation] My lady, we stole nothing and intended to return it without expectation of anything in return. It is not ours.
Sehanine's Avatar : [Translation] You admit you stole it, that you should not have it
N'laea : [Translation] A follower of Rillifane would not act so rash. A follower of Hanali would never dare to take from her sister. A priestess of moonlight would not step against you.
N'laea : [Translation] We found it among the belongings of a manticore deep beneath a land we cleared out.
N'laea : [Translation] We do not know how it got there, my lady. We only know it is not ours to keep however it originally was ended up with the manticore.
Sehanine's Avatar : [Translation] They are thieves adventurers who are attempting to conceal their crimes
Sehanine Moonbow : [Translation] Raises up a hand
Raelynn : [Translation] Um, if I may, we'd be happy to keep speaking under spell of truth
Sehanine Moonbow : [Translation] I have a way for you to prove yourselves and your friends. There is a taint in the hills that has started to infiltrate down into our forests. You will go there to the heart of that taint and bring it to us. There is a black chain hidden away in the Hill Giant Steading. It is a powerful artifact that can be used to gain dominance over the giants. If you are simple weak adventurers, you will go there and be killed, failing us and proving you are weak. If you are thieves you will go there and find the chain. Then you will use it for yourselves to profit. If you are truly heroes you will go find the chain and then return it here to us.
Sehanine's Avatar : [Translation] They are not honorable
N'laea : [Translation] It would be our honor to assist in ridding this land of that blight.
Licornah : :: stands and squints at the Avatar ::
Sehanine Moonbow : [Translation] Very good
Sehanine Moonbow : [Translation] There is a cave in the hills just to the south of the steading. Use this paint to disguise and hide the opening so that you can use the cave as your sally point. When you paint the entrance of the cave it will be hidden from all but magical eyes. This pot contains enough for three uses.
N'laea: nods in acknowledgement
Sehanine Moonbow: I will watch the pool here for your return
N'laea : [Translation] As you wish, my lady.
BOB and suddenly everyone is free
BOB you realize some time has passed but not too much
BOB and the presence of the Goddess is gone
Branwyn: shakes her head
BOB Yes to the cloak not being here
Branwyn: What happened?
Bixi Fizzlebang: exactly what I was going to ask
N'laea stands and carefully pockets the pot
Craigh: looks around for the goddess
N'laea: We must prove we are not thieves by ridding the hills of the blight.
Craigh: [SKILL] Observation [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 15) [SUCCESS by 2] [d20 = 13]
BOB Craigh sees N'laea with a new pot that she puts into her pocket
Branwyn: If we were thieves why would we come here of all places?
Bixi Fizzlebang: I don't understand how those two things are connected
BOB It is about the size of a medium gourd
Branwyn: [SKILL] Observation [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 19) [SUCCESS by 13] [d20 = 6]
Craigh: watches her surreptitiously
Craigh: I don't suppose they gave any hints as to *how*?
BOB Branwyn see the same, with N'laea putting a pot of something in her pouch
N'laea: Yes. A black chain in the Hill Giant Steading is the cause and we must return it to the Goddess.
N'laea: It is not ours to keep.
N'laea gives a hard look at Youtargim
Indigo: We have to steal a black chain from hill giants to prove we aren't thieves?
Craigh: sighs
N'laea: Our entrance will be a cave to the south of the steading. We'll be able to disguise our entrance.
N'laea: No. We must return it to her to prove we aren't thieves.
N'laea: It is a trial of temptation.
Craigh: I don't suppose we can show how not tempted we are by just going home?
Bixi Fizzlebang: Are we sure it's hers?
Indigo: I don't want a black chain. Why wouldn't we give it to them?
N'laea: I am not stopping you, but I will remain.
Indigo: laughs at Craigh's comment
Craigh: Nah, I'm with the group. I was just curious.
N'laea: The chain is destroying this land. Whether or not it is hers is irrelevant.
N'laea: But it is a powerful artifact. A thief would take it for themselves.
Bixi Fizzlebang: It seems pretty relevant as to whether or not we are becoming thieves
Craigh: I won't try to defend the honor of thieves.
Branwyn: Youtargim, can you speak giant?
N'laea: If we are adventurers, as we told her, we'll assist those in need. If we are thieves, as she believes us to be, we would take it for ourselves. If we are honest as she hopes to be true, we'll bring the cause of the blight to these lands to her to clean.
Youtargim : [Translation] Yes I can
Grins
Branwyn: Ummm, was that a yes?
Branwyn: smiles
Youtargim: At least I can speak the giant tongues of the deserts
Bixi Fizzlebang: I guess I can see both sides of it.
Youtargim: How hard could they be here?
Bixi Fizzlebang: Doesn't make me feel great though
Bixi Fizzlebang: You think there are ghost giants?
Bixi Fizzlebang: suddenly perks up a little
Tiberius: I think ghost giants would be a great adventure
Tiberius: that would be a little more excitement
N'laea: Only one way to find out.
Branwyn: Of course we shall help you
N'laea: Thank you.
Branwyn: Does the chain go in that pot you have?
N'laea: No. The pot is magic paint to hide our entrance to cave.
Bixi Fizzlebang: Yes, of course I'll help no matter what. It just makes me a little uncomfortable.
N'laea: She is the Goddess of Illusions, after all.
Branwyn: Very nice
Bixi Fizzlebang: oooohhhhh
N'laea nods
Bixi Fizzlebang: Do you think there will be any left over and if she might let us keep it if there is?
Craigh: do we need to know how to paint?
N'laea: It only has three uses.
N'laea: I... don't think so? Is it hard to paint over a cave entrance?
Raelynn: Oh! I can paint!
Bixi Fizzlebang: I don't understand... we paint ourselves or?
N'laea: Use the paint to disguise and hide the opening so you can use the cave as your sally point. When you paint the entrance, it will be hidden from all but magical eyes.
Bixi Fizzlebang: That seems... slightly less useful than I was originally imagining but ok.
N'laea: shrugs
Craigh: I think we use the cave as a base of operations, and hide it with paint? Maybe?
N'laea: The cave is in the hills just south of the steading.
Bixi Fizzlebang: I don't know, I'm going to trust the elves on this one
BOB So you know at this point you have to go march back through the forest to where you came from
BOB then go up stream
N'laea leads the way....?
Lemon (Bixi Fizzlebang): follow
Craigh: follows behind
Indigo: follows
Tiberius: So Giants
GRINS
Craigh: Giants.
Tiberius: What kind of giants?
N'laea: Hill Giants.
Tiberius: OH
deflated a bit
Branwyn: Are you going to leap onto one again?
Tiberius: Well I am sure we can have fun with that
Tiberius: So what did that goddess like about us?
N'laea: Like about you?
Tiberius: She must have liked something right?
Tiberius: She did not smite us
Indigo: I bet she liked that I said Hello
Tiberius: This is true Indigo,
Indigo: Even though she didn't say hello back to me
Tiberius: Goddesses always like polite people
N'laea: Not smiting you or hating you does not mean liking you.
Tiberius: No one hates Indigo
Craigh: It's a real good start though
N'laea: Yes.
Youtargim: So this is the kind of adventure you go on when you are bored?
Bixi Fizzlebang: looks for any loose rocks that the goddess wouldn't miss, and pockets some?
Craigh: I mean, I very rarely smite people I like.
Tiberius: Exactly
Tiberius: Craigh understands
Raelynn: How are your smiting abilities? You don't seem... the smiting kind?
Tiberius: so the Goddess must have liked something about us
Craigh: picks up a stick
Branwyn: I didn't quite understand what she meant by the dream comment. She seemed as if she was looking at me when she said it
N'laea: Or she is neutral about you.
N'laea: She watches over the dreams of elves.
N'laea: She is a goddess of dreams among many things.
Branwyn: She can read my spells. Interesting.
N'laea: smiles
N'laea: A goddess of magic, too.
Branwyn: Did she tell you anything about this giant steading other than where it was? How many giants for instance?
N'laea: shakes head
N'laea: Only that the black chain is hidden away in the Hill Giant Steading.
Bixi Fizzlebang: How big are giants?
Youtargim: Do you normally keep the things you find?
Tiberius: Of course!
Licornah : How long have you all had that cloak again?
Tiberius: That is why we go on campaigns, to get loot
N'laea: Er, bigger than you?
N'laea: Only a few weeks if not less.
N'laea: But we are not keeping this, no matter what it does.
Licornah : Are you holding on to any other holy items we should not have?
N'laea again glancing at Yout
Branwyn: We came as soon as we learned to travel the planes. We weren't keeping it for no reason and as far as I know no one attempted to wear it or use its power
Craigh: I suppose gods may forget not everyone can travel the planes whenever they want
N'laea: We have our limits, but we know when to return things that are not ours...
Tiberius: Can you do anything special with giants Bixi?
Bixi Fizzlebang: I can probably hide from them. If they're big enough, they might not even notice me!
Bixi Fizzlebang: But I've never encountered a giant before, so it will certainly be an adventure either way
Looks around to see who has any spears or bows
Indigo: Yes I like fighting giants. They have to work to get me!
Bixi Fizzlebang: grins at Indigo
