Indigo: So are there rules about killing in the afterlife? I mean, whenever we've run into giants we've had to kill them or get them to run away or we run away

N'laea: I... hmm, I do not know. I'd certainly advise it against any Elven spirits, but I do not know if these are Giant spirits or simply giants that found their way here.

N'laea: Their afterlife is not ours.

Craigh: pretends to write down notes.

Craigh: Step 1: sneak inside. Step 2: Ask giant if it can die.

Youtargim: I can do that

N'laea: Youtargim, do you know anything about Giant religion?

Youtargim: I think that they believe they will go to their own reward to defeat their enemies

Craigh: I *might* be able to get us past one or two lone sentries, if they don't see us first. But other than that, lurking is about all I'm good for.

N'laea: It would be good to see what we are up against first. Perhaps sneaking would be best, but perhaps not.

N'laea: The Goddess of Moonlight expects the encounter to kill any weak adventurer so a fight is not improbable.

Branwyn: You really want to ruin the fun with me simply obbing a fireball in their direction?

Craigh: Eh, if sneaking doesn't work, you can always switch to stabbing. Harder to go the other direction with it.

GM: There is a road up to the Steading

N'laea: Giants are... not my specialty. If you would like to try to talk to them first, I will not stop you. I am not used to traveling with such a big group nor one with diplomacy.

GM: nothing until you get right up to the walls

Indigo: Maybe some of us could talk and be a distraction while the sneaky people sneak? We could look for a weakness in the walls to sneak in another way maybe?

GM: The steading is out from the hills and trees in a large flat area

GM: the primary thing you notice is there is a pathway up to the front doors that a large wagon can travel

GM: from where you are up near the cave that is what you see

N'laea: (did we bring our wagon?????)

GM: how close do you want to get to look around the other sides of the steading?

GM: and no you do not have a wagon...... pity

Craigh: So, I see two entrances, and 2 places to enter by climbing.

GM: you have no idea if you can be seen

GM: the image on the "desktop" is your view and yes I have a full map with full line of sight, light source etc

LorieD (Licornah ): This is our view from the cave BOB?

MadamePsychosis (Indigo): they don't have any windows

GM: yes to Lorie you can see down to that

LemonyLemon (Bixi Fizzlebang): The tallest building looks like it might have a window

GM: and yes to Lisa surprising lack of windows

Craigh: Well, those are giants, so those doors are 15 to 20 feet tall.

LorieD (Licornah ): These are Hill, Mountain, Frost or other Giants?

seyfert (N'laea): Hill is what we were told

LorieD (Licornah ): (Thank you...wanted to confirm)

seyfert (N'laea): can't confirm if we were told the whole truth, just what we were told :)

seyfert (N'laea): (and sorry, very little sleep so doing my best here)

GM: The map shows the huge timber stronghold of the local clan of hill giants. All outer walls are of logs of at least 3' diameter. Inner walls dividing rooms and the like are about 2' thick, and doors are great iron-bound log affairs of 1' thickness- single doors being approximately 7' wide and 16' high. All inside floors are of stone. Ceiling height varies from about 16' at the edges to 32' at the center, and there are great blackened rafters above which hold up the roof. The Steading is in a nasty damp area, where hard rain is a daily occurrence and wet fogs a nightly event. All wood in the place is very damp. (Normal fire will have only a 2% chance per round of burning or setting the place afire, and even magical fires will have only an 8% chance per round of doing the same.)

Indigo: Ohh!! What id someone puts on the oil of stone giant strength and challenges a giant to an arm wrestling contest for the chain?

LorieD (Licornah ): (Hence the cave of no harm)

N'laea: You like arm wrestling, do you not, Tiberius?

Craigh: Anybody know if giants have infravision and can see in the dark?

Tiberius: I have never arm wrested a giant that would be fun!

Indigo: I dunno

seyfert (N'laea): (so only 8% chance of fireball setting the whole place on fire while we're in it... that could be a good thing....)

LemonyLemon (Bixi Fizzlebang): Did you just make up that part about the dampness becuase TMO brought up fireball earlier?

Youtargim: Giants can see in the dark to a limited degree yes

GM: Me make up things on the fly?

LemonyLemon (Bixi Fizzlebang): So not fair

GM: but actually Tiberius brought up fireball first

Bixi Fizzlebang: I would think when they're done feasting most of them will be so drunk we might be able to convince them we are a hallucination

LemonyLemon (Bixi Fizzlebang): I vote moving on, if it's taking that much time to check boxes

Indigo: Probably just more ears or underwear or something

There are 6 beds, 4 chairs, 4 stools, 7 chests, and two tables in the room. Various skins and hides cover the floors, several hang on the walls, and there are giant garments on several pegs. One torch burns smokily at the west end of the room in a wall sconce; at the east end of the room is an unlit torch in a sconce.

GM: Lemon what does Bixi get as bonuses with Illusions?

Bixi Fizzlebang: I don't think anything valuable will be here in the common rooms

Master TMO (Craigh): Illusionists get a bonus to save, I believe.

Craigh: Oh, good point Indigo. A better class of giant lives here.

GM: Different levels get better things and some immunities

GM: A torch at the other end is what appears to be an unlit torch, but it is actually a giant sword

Master TMO (Craigh): oh boy... that's either very good, or very very bad

GM: Note that the sword is unique, with 14 intelligence, 8 ego, and speaking hill, stone, and frost giant languages in addition to the common tongue and the language of Neutral Good (which alignment the weapon is). It detects enemies, but the sword has no other powers. It is +2 in general and +4 versus any sort of giant (scoring that plus in damage, of course).

Master TMO (Craigh): SO.... the Gnome Illusionist now owns an intelligent gigantic sword?

LemonyLemon (Bixi Fizzlebang): Can I take it to a blacksmith and have it turned into a dagger of giant slaying?

MadamePsychosis (Indigo): Talwin already has a pretty kick ass sword

GM: no to transferring control but you can talk to it about the other person in the hopes of getting it to accept the new person

Craigh: So, apprentice, now what must we do?

Bixi Fizzlebang: looks at Craigh, wide-eyed

Craigh: Besides get one of these strapping young lads to carry your fabulous treasure for you, of course.

Craigh: We have to put a torch back in its place.

GM: also yes to TMO about the potion and that would work

GM: I think this is a good stopping point

LemonyLemon (Bixi Fizzlebang): You don't mention an "unlit torch" in a room if it doesn't MEAN something

MadamePsychosis: like the giant dagger we found was equal to a long sword I think

Master TMO (Craigh): I will not deny, the chaos is not my favorite part. Spent a fair amount of today putting out fires caused by another department.

GM: it was that sword, but it was the illusion that you saw through

Master TMO: It's actually safe for Bixi to talk to the sword. She can't use it even if she could pick it up

GM: if you had an immunity to illusions, or something like that then yes you might have seen it as a sword and had someone else pick it up
