Branwyn: Well my spell is broken. Might as well go back to the group now
Branwyn: We're fine, thanks, Raelynn
Branwyn: starts going back up the corridor to the main hall
Raelynn: Oh good! Everyone else is back there. I think everything was killed by now...
Dishelved Human: Hello?
Dishelved Human: Is anybody there?
Dishelved Human: Please, I've been here for ages, I've lost track of time
Bixi Fizzlebang: peeks around corner
Bixi Fizzlebang: Hello person! What is your name? Are you ok?
Dishelved Human: Hello! I'm so happy to see another person! I've been here so long I've forgotten my name, I hope it'll come back to me
Bixi Fizzlebang: Um....
Bixi Fizzlebang: glances around
N'laea busy checking the cells to make sure everything is dead and looking for anything of interest
N'laea: [SKILL] Observation [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 12) [SUCCESS by 10] [d20 = 2]
Bixi Fizzlebang: I feel unqualified to assess your situation, and also I feel like we need to call you something. Do you want to choose a name we can call you for now?
Bixi Fizzlebang: I'm happy to make one up, but I don't think humans like the names I come up with...
Dishelved Human: Zayden!
Dishelved Human: I remember my name is Zayden!
Tiberius: I have forgotten my name a few times after a long night of drinking
Tiberius: OR getting hit over the head
Tiberius: sometimes that jogs my memory
Dishelved Human: That's all I have for now, I think I'm like Cher, but I don't know who that is for some reason
Tiberius: should I hit him over the head?
Licornah: Zayden, it's nice to meet you, given the circumstances
Dishelved Human: Thank you, nice to meet you as well. I apologize for my disheveled appearance
Bixi Fizzlebang: I highly doubt that would help, Tiberius
Tiberius: I am unsure on that Bixi, it might be a bit fun
Bixi Fizzlebang: Um, if you've been a prisoner for so long you've forgotten how long, you probably shouldn't be apologizing for something like that
Tiberius: and it would help him understand what we do
Zayden: I have forgotten much, but good manners are ingrained
Zayden: I still struggle to speak normally
Zayden: Can I knock on the door so you know where it is?
Nightshade, Cat, Elven : [Translation] Sniffs
[understood by: TMO, Licornah, Raelynn, N'laea]
Nightshade, Cat, Elven : [Translation] He smells
[understood by: TMO, Licornah, Raelynn, N'laea]
N'laea : [Translation] Most humans do.
[understood by: TMO, Licornah, Raelynn, N'laea]
Zayden: I check myself for chains
Bixi Fizzlebang: whispers to those closest to her; Should we let him out?
Zayden: I must confess that I do have single weapon with me, my charm :)
Bixi Fizzlebang: rolls eyes
Youtargim [C Comm]: [Translation] I like him
[understood by: Zayden]
Lorie (Licornah): :: looks at Bixi and then back at Zayden::
N'laea: I've heard that one before. Where is Rae, anyways?
Youtargim: She went off after Branwyn
N'laea: Smart.
Bixi Fizzlebang: How is your health, Zayden? Are you injured?
Zayden: Feeling good physically
Zayden: Emotionally I struggle for a breath of fresh air
Zayden: Oh I forgot I am injured!
Bixi Fizzlebang: looks at the others
Bixi Fizzlebang: If I let him out, and he tries to kill us, you'll help me out right?
Tiberius: Promise
Zayden: I promise, I will sheathe my charm
Bixi Fizzlebang: I kind of want to get him to the water we found... he's probably thirsty and almost definitely could use a bath...
Bixi Fizzlebang: Ok, I'm opening the door
Tiberius: I will be glad to make sure you are safe Bixi
Bixi Fizzlebang: cautiously opens door
Zayden: Thank you! It feels so good to see normal sized beings again
Bixi Fizzlebang: beams at being called normal-sized
Licornah: :: looks again at Bixi and says nothing ::
N'laea: You must be a short human, then.
Bixi Fizzlebang: There's some water I would like to take you to, but I think we should find the rest of our group first, we need to make sure everyone is ok
Zayden: Yes, we are better together, I will follow your lead Bixi
Bixi Fizzlebang: Do you know anything about this place?
Bixi Fizzlebang: Oh, I'm not in charge, that's Branwyn, she's just off chasing her jaws right now
Zayden: I feel like I should, I've entertained many a giant around these parts
Bixi Fizzlebang: Entertained?
Zayden: Yes, it is my music and my voice that has kept me alive all this time. Many without my charms fell to the belly of giants
Bixi Fizzlebang: Giants eat people!?
Zayden: Well, my fellow prisoners disappeared and never returned, I just assumed...
Bixi Fizzlebang: No one told me that before we came in here!
Youtargim: Yes to giants eating people
Bixi Fizzlebang: glares at the others
Youtargim: I know of some that are very horrible
Youtargim: I do think we found some of your other prisoners who were starved to the bone
Bixi Fizzlebang: What else are you keeping from me Yogurtarim?
N'laea: Bixi, anything will eat anything your size. Ask Indigo.
Licornah: :: shakes head to herself ::
Youtargim: Lady Bixi I would not keep anything from you, you have proven your worth many times over
Zayden: They would only feed me so I would continue to sing
Youtargim: Who has eaten Indigo?
N'laea: Many things.
Youtargim: I could help Rae with that. sly smile
Bixi Fizzlebang: Did you sing for the apes as well? Or the bugbears? Or just the giants? What is the political system between these creatures? Are there more slaves? Did they come to you to hear you sing or did they take you elsewhere?
N'laea rolls her eyes
Youtargim: I do hope that he recovers well from that
Bixi Fizzlebang: is babbling while she desperately hopes Branwyn will arrive soon to take charge
N'laea: If you keep acting like a pig, she'll reject you. As she should.
Bixi Fizzlebang: secretly hopes she rejects him no matter what, dude is a creeper
Youtargim: To N'laea: I am not, it is only natural to try to tease and find a reaction from such a lovely lady
Zayden: I would sing when they told me to sing
Zayden: I don't speak their language, so it's difficult for me to describe their politics
N'laea: Yet the words you use are ill-crafted. But I am certain she's well-versed in dealing with such things. I have no time for it.
Zayden: but they like to party, and they like music, and they like to dance till the earth shakes
Craigh: At their size, that doesn't take long I bet
Zayden: Not long to start, but long to end
N'laea: What languages do you speak, ah.. Zayden?
Zayden: I come from Hallstatt and speak the common language
Lorie (Licornah): Hallstatt? Is that near here?
N'laea: Did you understand the bugbears speaking?
Zayden: Hallstatt is just north of the land of stone giants, which is how I came to be here
Zayden: Apologies I did not understand the bugbears
Zayden: Just that I didn't like them
N'laea: to herself, And still no useful translators for here.
Youtargim : [Translation] Do you understand the Giants that you worked for?
Bixi Fizzlebang: Um... should we go look for the others?
Licornah: Yes, that's a good plan, Bixi
Zayden: Sounds good to me!
Youtargim : [Translation] Does that mean you do not understand me?
[understood by: ]
Zayden: I follow Bixi
Licornah: I'm from Silvermoon - have you heard of it?
Zayden: I have not
N'laea goes to take a look at The Keeper
Bixi Fizzlebang: visibly relieved
Bixi Fizzlebang: Branwyn this is Zayden who has forgotten his real name. I let him out. He seems ok, but needs a bath.
Zayden: Hi Branwyn!
Zayden: Apologies for my odor
Branwyn: Hello Zayden
Branwyn: looks him up and down
Branwyn: You were held captive I take it
Zayden: Yes, the giants kept me around as their pet songbird
Zayden: But I am grateful to be alive, I can't say the same for the other prisoners
Branwyn: You sing?
Zayden: Yes maam I sing and play this small piano, the only personal object they allowed me to keep
Zayden: Oh no it's a portable piano I strap across my back and/or chest
Branwyn: Well I am sorry you have been a prisoner. We can take you out of here once our work here is complete
Tiberius: You said Hallstatt? That is where you are from?
Bixi Fizzlebang: I was thinking we could take him over to that water we found... maybe he can have a drink if it's safe... maybe a quick dip...
Zayden: Yes Tiberius
Indigo: Hi! I'm Indigo. You haven't seen a big black chain lying around have you?
Tiberius: So how did you get so far away from the Celtic Lands?
Zayden: I've seen many things, but not a big black chain unfortunately
Tiberius: the far side of the Mountains
Indigo: Come on Branadarus, ask him the important stuff!
Tiberius: Laughs
Indigo: He might be dead!
Tiberius: I have only ever met one person from the Celtic Lands
Zayden: I was traveling with a nomadic group of singers and entertainers
Indigo: Are you dead?
Tiberius: she was always naked and painted blue
Zayden: until we were attacked by the stone giants
Tiberius: OOOO
Zayden: I am alive!
Zayden: I hope
Tiberius: He could be dead
Craigh: looks skeptical
Indigo: This is the elf after life place
Tiberius: he said he was a songbird
Tiberius: Canaries die
Tiberius: we are in Olympus right? where people go when they die?
Bixi Fizzlebang: We ARE in a mine...
Tiberius: So he could be dead
Tiberius: WOW
Indigo: Yeah! That's why I asked
Tiberius: Bixi found another ghost!
Bixi Fizzlebang: I AM a ghost hunter!
Zayden: My captor was in Olympus when I tried to escape, which is when he put in this dungeon
Zayden: because I was unsuccessful
Craigh: Your captor in Olympus put you *here*?
Tiberius: So you died in Hallstatt and then your ghost was captured by giants?
Zayden: Apologies, he brought me with him to Olympus which is when I tried to escape
Tiberius: WOW we find the weirdest people sometimes
Zayden: and so he put me here in this dungeon
Zayden: He told me there was a statue carving competition there
Zayden: that my singing would help him focus on his carve
Youtargim: Hallstatt is a well known area just north of Fuirgar, the land of the Stone Giants
Zayden: He took my attempt to escape as a personal slight
Youtargim: So I can believe your story Zayden
Zayden: Because he fed me he thought I loved him, that I would remain loyal
Youtargim: at least you planned it well
Zayden: I am in too weak a state to lie
Youtargim: Well then you need to learn to lie better
Youtargim: It should come naturally like breathing
Zayden: I hope this is something we can work on together Youtargim
Bixi Fizzlebang: makes mental note about Yogurt being a liar
Branwyn: Should it now Youtargim?
Youtargim: I have to admit that I tend to do that upon first meeting anyone Countess
Branwyn: And then later you are a picture of honesty?
Youtargim: I find it better to let someone have an identity that I have crafted rather than one they think of me
Youtargim: Well I admit it is hard for anyone to trust after knowing I have lied, unless I tell them that I have lied and why I have lied
Craigh: doesn't say anything
Zayden: Not to be that guy, but should we get out of here? There's gotta be more giants around, I rather not end up in another dungeon
Branwyn: You can craft any identity you wish but as you travel with us your real one shall become apparent
Youtargim: Bows to Branwyn
Branwyn: It has already started to in fact
Youtargim: Thank you, I do hope to travel with you more
Craigh: Oh, no worries Zayden. They're not here. They're between us and the exit.
Youtargim: I hope to show you that I am worth your trust in using my abilities
Youtargim: and if I prove that worth then you will trust me for other things
Branwyn: sighs
Zayden: stretch my legs
Youtargim: That is what I have done for my Princess
Branwyn: I hope so as well
Youtargim: I told her I was a poor beggar boy looking for food
Youtargim: and she tested me and learned my secrets
Youtargim: so I did not get to steal the set of silverware
Youtargim: but I did get to become her captain
Youtargim: in the end it all worked out
Looks at Zayden
Youtargim: So I hope you will work out too
Craigh: Good luck.
Zayden: Oh captain my captain!
Youtargim: Show the Countess your worth so she will learn to trust you
Zayden: Thank you
Craigh: Countess, not Captain.
Craigh: smiles
Zayden: Oh Countess my Countess :)
Branwyn: You are lucky to still have both hands. But ... when I was in the lower hallway I noted three closed doors. One held a couple dozen orc slaves. The looked unarmed but I did not want to alert them
Youtargim: Indigo is an Admiral so he outweighs me
Zayden: I do have some skill in moving silently
Branwyn: There is a forge room as well that I didn't have time to explore as well as another dark passageway. Perhaps that one leads to the bugbear chambers.
Branwyn: looks around
Branwyn: Where are the apes?
Zayden: Why did you ask about a big black chain?
Branwyn: sees the dead one
Branwyn: Ohhh
Branwyn: N'laea or Raelynn can explain about the chain
Zayden: I saw no chains, but I did see a curious instant with my stone giant captor
Branwyn: Oh?
Zayden: Speaking to a large sword
Zayden: at first I thought him crazy or senile
Craigh: chuckles
Branwyn: Ohhh ...
Zayden: or dumb
Branwyn: Talwin might have that
Zayden: But it seemed like, at some point, the sword would speak back
Branwyn: He's around here somewhere
Craigh: Do you know what they talked about?
Zayden: It's hard to say, but the giant would often get angry or sad after their conversations
Craigh: tries to picture a sad stone giant face
Zayden: I'm not sure if this has any value to your group, but just be warned there's funny business around these parts
Branwyn: We have grown accustomed to talking weapons
Craigh: Do you know why there are so many other giants here? Why your master came here?
Bixi Fizzlebang: We've already found two in here
Bixi Fizzlebang: shrugs
Zayden: I do not understand what they say directly
Craigh: Ah, right
Zayden: but I got the sense that there was a competition
Zayden: stone carving competition
Zayden: mainly because there were many giants carving in stone, they seem to enjoy it
Craigh: Oh, is this the statue carving thing you talked about? Got it.
Zayden: yes
Zayden: They take that stuff so seriously
Zayden: seriously
Craigh: Sorry, I think I finally caught up.
Zayden: The good news, at the end of their parties, the giants enter a giant slumber
Zayden: the question is whether they are still partying or not
Bixi Fizzlebang: They were having a party upstairs when we got here. Not sure if it's still going on
Craigh: Better than a pixie slumber
Zayden: Haha
Youtargim: I was going to say Craigh, that is worse than any joke I ever told
Craigh: Good.
Youtargim: the Giant slumber not your pixie slumber
Zayden: Is this chain you're looking for a magical chain?
Craigh: Yes.
Youtargim: But are you saying Zayden that if we wait long enough the giants will all fall asleep?
Youtargim: I mean that makes sense, but still I would have thought guards, etc.
Youtargim: we did find a miner, and a guard? trainer? what was he with the apes?
Zayden: That is my guess You, but no guarantee
Zayden: But I would often witness them in heavy slumber, asking me to sing some of lullabies for them
Youtargim: Looks at the priests
Youtargim: Could you put them to sleep sooner?
Zayden: It would help if they're at the end of a long night drinking and dancing
Bixi Fizzlebang: We snuck past sleeping guards on our way in, but that was hours ago now
Craigh: Maybe the party has wound down then?
Zayden: Perhaps, if they ask me to sing again soon, I could sing them to sleep, and we could make our escape?
Zayden: But you would have to lock me back up, and I'm not crazy about that idea
Tiberius: We would not lock you back up
Branwyn: We aren't leaving until we find the chain
Nightshade, Cat, Elven : [Translation] We could lock him back up and not have to hear his singing
[understood by: Licornah, Raelynn, N'laea]
Craigh: puts away the keys.
Bixi Fizzlebang: Honestly I'm more worried about getting out of here in case they come down looking for a lullaby
Zayden: If the giants were successfully put in a slumber, we could take the opportunity to search them for the chain
Looks at Branwyn with a gleam in his eye about going after a room full of sleeping giants
Zayden: But I can't say if the chain is on them or in that room
Zayden: But you could ask the sword, if any of you are able to speak to it
Branwyn: There are about 70 giants, ogres and orcs upstairs. I don't know any spell that could put all of them to sleep. Easily at any rate
Tiberius: HEY ! BIXI! You talk to swords!
Bixi Fizzlebang: The chain seems to be polluting the water, so we were trying to find the source of that...
Zayden: Wow that's a lot!
Bixi Fizzlebang: Um, I gave it to Talwin and he's still pooping
Branwyn: Yes it is
Tiberius: WOW
Zayden: Then we could just follow the river?
Tiberius: Maybe he needs to see a priest about that
Licornah: River?
Zayden: or whatever the water source
Zayden: if the chain is polluting it
Craigh: I take it the water you found didn't have an access to the river?
Bixi Fizzlebang: I think the source was coming from the keep?
Bixi Fizzlebang: That we are in?
Bixi Fizzlebang: I'm not sure anymore, elves are confusing
Craigh: You're not wrong
Youtargim: Charming and Confusing
Tiberius: Indigo where was the water going that you found?
Zayden: I understand a spell wouldn't put that many ogres to sleep. But they all pass out after they party, I've sung them to sleep with lullaby many a time so that they sleep past thunder and thunderous snores
Tiberius: OOOOO sleep past someone snoring?
Tiberius: (whispers to Zayden) can I learn that from you?
Zayden: They all snore, it's monstrously loud
Indigo: I dunno. I'd have to go in the water tunnel
Craigh: It will make sneaking easier
Tiberius: Snoring Craigh?
Zayden: Sure!
Tiberius: Wait a minute I was asking if he could help me sleep when someone is snoring
Tiberius: you mean snoring loudly so we can sneak past them?
Bixi Fizzlebang: tries to discreetly glance at Branwyn
Zayden: I could play you a lullaby, people tend to sleep peacefully
Tiberius: Suddenly stops and considers
Tiberius: You know Indigo
Tiberius: we could go swimming
Tiberius: that might be a good thing
Zayden: Well if this is a fancy chain, and there are so many giants up there, it's unreasonable to think the chain may be there too, if it's of value
Zayden: Giants love to show off
Youtargim: Looks amused at Tiberius
Zayden: it's not unreasonable
Youtargim: If this is a powerful evil chain, then yes I think that showing it off is a good option, but if there are strangers here, then I would put it someplace safe
Youtargim: Until I was alone and could use it again
Branwyn: The chain's main value to giants is in making sure no one besides them is in possession of it
Youtargim: Yes the Countess is right, didn't the Elves tell us something about that?
Branwyn: The chain will control giants from what N'laea has told us
Youtargim: Looking at Rae and N'laea and Licornah
Craigh: Interesting
Branwyn: I am not sure how it is also polluting the water
Craigh: So if we get the chain, getting out will be easier?
Branwyn: Most certainly
Branwyn: That is what I was counting on
Licornah: Has anyone else not seen or heard a river?
Youtargim: Can we use it ? I have found lots of magic items that no one knew how to use until I brought it back to the Princess
Youtargim: OH, of course, I am sorry Countess you would very well know how to use such a thing
Youtargim: I am sorry
Branwyn: smiles
Youtargim: I have not traveled with a powerful mage like you before, I have always found things and brought them back
Youtargim: not knowing what was valuable or not magically
Branwyn: I may not know how until tomorrow. We shall see when we find it
The date is Mid____se, 25th Fey (Winter), 351 SKR
Young Moon's phase is Last Quarter
Old Moon's phase is Waxing Gibbous
The time is 12:15 PM
Zayden: should I follow Craigh?
Bixi Fizzlebang: If no one minds, I would like to go see if my ape friend is still ok?
Zayden: What if for the first few moments I enter singing my song, and they'll be so confused, and then you guys strike, element of surprise?
Craigh: It's *a* plan.
Zayden: haha
Zayden: or I'll just hang out in the back
Zayden: Play some theme music while you guys fight
Branwyn: hands Zayden a dagger
Bixi Fizzlebang: Or we can just try to stay quiet right now and not attract more enemies...
Branwyn: Here. You might need this
N'laea: [SKILL] Observation [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 12) [FAILURE by 1] [d20 = 13]
Craigh: [SKILL] Observation [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 15) [SUCCESS by 12] [d20 = 3]
Zayden: Thanks Branwyn!
BOB The cells were empty except the bones of the skeletons
Branwyn: Certainly
Zayden: Technically I'm an Adventurer, but my true passion is to sing and play music
Craigh: Good thought, Apprentice.
BOB Craigh is near the door and sees that it seems to have a different type of handle than the other doors you have found, maybe to make it easier for the Apes?
Craigh: I can open the door and get out of the way if you like
Craigh: Unless it's, like, a heavy door or something.
Craigh: Or mildly difficult in any way.
Craigh: Or a particularly stubborn shade of blue.
Youtargim: I have your back Rae
Branwyn: Please. Open the door
Zayden: Ready to stab!
BOB and so Craigh opens the door
His room has many skins on the floor, a bed, table, chair, 2 boxes, several crates and barrels, 1 chest, and odds and ends of armor, weapons, furniture, tableware, and so forth.
N'laea: [SKILL] Observation [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 12) [SUCCESS by 3] [d20 = 9]
Craigh: There should be an ape in there somewhere.
BOB You do not see any ape
Bixi Fizzlebang: Hello? Friend?
Zayden: Right above Bran!
Branwyn: Bixi ...
BOB you have an Ape there
Bixi Fizzlebang: Ape friend, we don't want to hurt you! I will take care of you and help you get somewhere safe!
Zayden: Anybody got a banana?
Indigo: looks at Bixi and waits to see what happens
Craigh: peeks around the corner to see if he can help
The Carnivorous Ape (Forlorn howl) bites and claws at Branwyn about the back and shoulders, wounding her.
N'laea attacks the Carnivorous Ape (Forlorn howl) about the shoulders with her Longsword, heavily wounding it.
N'laea: I know you are upset, but I cannot let you attack her. If you stop, we will spare you.
N'laea [Woodland Creatures]: [Translation] I know you are upset, but I cannot let you attack her. If you stop, we will spare you.
[understood by: N'laea]
Zayden: I could play some music, help calm its nerves maybe
Bixi Fizzlebang: sighs
Bixi Fizzlebang: Sorry ape friend, but I can't let you hurt my other friends. I would have loved you forever!
Bixi Fizzlebang: sheds a single tear
Bixi Fizzlebang tries to attack the Carnivorous Ape (Forlorn howl) with a stone from her Sling but misses.
Licornah: :: chanting ::
Branwyn tries to attack the Carnivorous Ape (Forlorn howl) with her magic dagger but misses.
Tiberius: Do you need help in there love?
Branwyn: Grrrr ...
Zayden: those two seem to have a dynamic going on!
Tiberius attacks the Carnivorous Ape (Forlorn howl) about the armpit and shoulders with his Rapier, killing it.
Tiberius: Sorry Bixi,
Tiberius: It did go after Branwyn
[ROUND 1]
Branwyn: Thank you! I thought it was charmed and it just attacked me
Bixi Fizzlebang: I understand
Craigh: enters the room
Bixi Fizzlebang: I wouldn't trade any of your lives for an ape I just met, for the record
His room has many skins on the floor, a bed, table, chair, 2 boxes, several crates and barrels, 1 chest, and odds and ends of armor, weapons, furniture, tableware, and so forth.
N'laea: Friendships can easily end when you attack their family. It is not unexpected. Just unfortunate.
Branwyn: Next time perhaps have it follow you so you can keep it under your control
Craigh: This is going to take some searching. Lots of stuff here
Craigh: The chain *probably* isn't here though.
Bixi Fizzlebang: nods at Branwyn
Craigh: [TOWER] [SKILL] Observation [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 15) [FAILURE by 1] [d20 = 16]
Zayden: I have a song that may, or may not, help us find the chain
Zayden: Most likely not
Branwyn: sits down on the chair to get out of the way
N'laea lets the others raid this room this time
The group finds treasure: 5,400 gp, 4 water breathing potions, 4 gems at 100 gp each, and 5 gems at 500 gp each. Also a giant sized battle axe and chainmail set, but who’s going to take that?
Talwin: So, pretty sure my memory is having issues. Need to sort out my Priorities you know. Why are we here, what must I do, whom must I kill
Talwin: And we must also see if that cell has had some lasting effects on you my friend. We'll get you sorted out
Talwin: Rests hand on sword
Zayden: I'm sure it has, the body remembers...
Michael (Talwin): For the love of god. What is going on, and whom should we focus on killing. Also apparently I have a hard time swinging you...so what are we going to do to make sure you get your fair share of slaughter?
Talwin: To his sword. Mentally
Zayden: Yes, I couldn't understand their discussions, but I got the impression the sword was not happy with its stone giant master
Zayden: or the master with his sword
Michael (Talwin): Nods in thanks to Zayden
Reven / Lipthink (giant sword) ; Talwin: Why discriminate? Kill everything
Michael (Talwin): So, I have skill with a blade, but I'm not used to having a sword quite this large. How do I best utilize you in the battle. My two handed blade is the sword of choice, but despite that, you are the size of a polearm spear. I'll try and hit as much as possible to give you your chance, but there's no point if we constantly miss. And yes, I'm fine with killing just about everything in sight as long as there's a good justification. Other then the people I'm responsible for, I care not for others at the moment
Reven / Lipthink (giant sword) Talwin: Let's try killing some giants and I will show you what I can do
Reven / Lipthink (giant sword) Talwin: If you can free me from this sword, I will help you rid the world of these monsters
Talwin to Reven / Lipthink (giant sword): Tell me how to do this, and we shall do great and terrible things. As long as I obtain a promise of safety for my team. I receive this, and you will bathe in blood
Reven / Lipthink (giant sword) Talwin: I do not know, but I will assist you to the best of my abilities
Reven / Lipthink (giant sword) Talwin: Perhaps some giant blood on my blade will trigger some memories
Talwin to Reven / Lipthink (giant sword): well my friend...for now I'll just try swinging you into foes. If that does not work, we'll talk with people that will unlock your full potential and your desires. I may have to occasionally switch weapons, because your next wielder may not be as willing to unleash you as I am. That would be such a shame...
Reven / Lipthink (giant sword) Talwin: Or perhaps if you found Skara
Talwin to Reven / Lipthink (giant sword): if you might help with that, I would be most interested in seeking Skara. We must not let your abilities go to waste now, can we?
Reven / Lipthink (giant sword) Talwin: Ahhh, I am so glad you agree. The gnome was formidable but I could sense her hesitance in accepting my assistance
Reven / Lipthink (giant sword) Talwin: We will do well together
Zayden: I been playing the chain this whole time, what's going on everyone?
Talwin: Evil Grin both in character and mentally for sword benefit
Talwin: So, I’ve learned some helpful things
Talwin: Seeking Skara might help unlocking the full potential of Reven. Or, another mage perhaps
Talwin: Although
Talwin: There is potential that the blood of giants may unlock the potential therein
Talwin: Should I receive an oath of safety for my friends, I have agreed to bathe Reven in as much blood as Branwyn agrees to
Talwin: He is funny in a dark sort of way
Branwyn: raises an eyebrow
Tiberius: I don't know Kel used to think he could talk to his sword too
Talwin: Shrugs
Tiberius: now he just lives in the trees
Tiberius: Watch out Talwin
Talwin: Your an administrator. Don't tell me you haven't wished to smack some heads around
Bixi Fizzlebang: I can assure you that the sword talks
Indigo: laughs
Zayden: But did he become a sword by being honorable and staying true to his word?
Talwin: Enemies only Bran. I wouldn't kill the innocent
Bixi Fizzlebang: And that it hates giants
Bixi Fizzlebang: That's all I really got from it before I passed it along
Zayden: Common enemy is nice
Tiberius: How about you Zayden? do you hate giants?
Tiberius: Youtargim?
Talwin: I did not ask. But with Branwyn nearby to check the balance, we can see how good the oath remains. I will receive it before it enters the first giant. Or it will not be utilized. A shame, Reven's potential should not be wasted
Youtargim: I don't hate ALL giants
Talwin: I'm starting to
Zayden: Hate is a heavy word, stresses the vocal cords, I try not to carry it with me so I may travel light
Zayden: That said, I don't care for giants no
Youtargim: OH that is nice Zayden, I have to remember that line
N'laea: We came to find a chain. Any giant in the way can be killed, but we did not come to help this sword. Let us not get too distracted.
Talwin: I uh, also should probably ask that my friends should watch out for personality changes. And uh, knock me out if I begin to get a bit....enthusiastic
Talwin: However!
Talwin: Finding Skara and the blood of giants are both options. And, that is what I have learned
Branwyn: I agree with N'laea
Talwin: Nods solemnly, if a bit disappointed
Zayden: Seems fair, what we should endlessly go killing giants and then their ghosts, so every giant we must kill twice?
Reven / Lipthink (giant sword) Talwin: Choose which advice you take carefully. Your friends may sometimes be selfish, and put their own needs before yours.
Zayden: Maybe best not to let the sword know that though
Tiberius: Bixi always wants to find ghosts
Branwyn: To what end? Are you saying that you wish to make this sword your own? I thought we picked it up to take a weapon from a possible foe and use it if it is helpful
Bixi Fizzlebang: nods enthusiastically
Zayden: If it doesn't like our direction, it may try to possess Talwin
Tiberius: So Talwin would start talking weird?
Craigh: Weird-ER
Talwin to Reven / Lipthink (giant sword): Do not fear, there are many opportunities in this group. Trust me on this one thing. And that may be, but that should be a lesson you learn. Oaths should be kept, even when not necessarily convenient. They open doors to more opportunity. A little patience now, leads to greater rewards later
Bixi Fizzlebang: I think it tried when Talwin first got it, and Talwin overruled it?
Tiberius: Like in a different language?
Bixi Fizzlebang: That's what happened to me as well, I think?
Tiberius: Well you are tough Bixi
Zayden: Who knows Talwin best to judge whether he is acting normal weird or weird weird?
Tiberius: of course you did
Tiberius: points to Branwyn
N'laea: If it is like the sword I hold, a strong enough will will keep it silent.
Tiberius: WHAT! You talk to swords too?
Tiberius: does every elf do that?
Talwin: Good point. I assume if I get a little bit more bloody then we should have a talk. Er, bloodier then normal.
Tiberius: wait wait wait, is Talwin a secret Elf?
N'laea looks at Tiberius funny
Michael (Talwin): Rolls Eyes
Bixi Fizzlebang: What about that talking hammer? Maybe we should have a chat with that?
Talwin: I wish
N'laea: It was found in your lands?
Talwin: More time to practice my craft
Craigh: Is it bad I want to sit in on a conversation between the two talking swords?
Tiberius: HUH I never thought of that Craigh
Tiberius: That might be ... interesting?
Tiberius: I think that Branwyn would be more interested than I am, but it depends on what they say I guess
Tiberius: Hmmm
Tiberius: Dear, do you want to talk with swords too?
Talwin: Well, mine is rather bloodthirsty and has a great sense of dark humor. We will get along well I think
Craigh: We can include the hammer too, see if it participates.
Talwin: Sending waves of pride at sword
N'laea debates pointing out Bran talked to this sword first and decides against it
Branwyn: It depends on the intent. That dagger I had was pure evil and listening to it was not good. It sounds like the giant sword is similar. I would recommend getting rid of it before we leave this place
Talwin: hand curls around the pommel protectively. Starts to sweat
Talwin: Let's not be hasty. I swear to do everything I can to maintain propriety. I do give this promise
Reven / Lipthink (giant sword) Talwin: I sense your fear, but do not worry, they can not take me from you without your consent. If we encounter some giants, I will prove my worth to you and them
Zayden: I think we should proceed :)
N'laea: A promise is only as strong as your will against it. We do not yet know which will win.
Zayden: we'll likely have some giants to fight/kill, so the sword is useful for that, and if a long the way it is released great or we'll deal with that genie when we get to it lol
Talwin to Reven / Lipthink (giant sword): they will not have you. And THAT, I give you MY word.
Branwyn: So it seems the only area we have not explored is by the forge
Branwyn: Well and the pit trap
N'laea nods in agreement
Zayden: Is this a fancy chain? is it likely to left in the dungeons and the pits?
N'laea: Unless the new human can handle traps, we are just as well equipped as before. The forge may be better.
Branwyn: Are you ready to deal with traps now or shall we take the safer path by the forge?
Talwin: thinks
Talwin: I'm willing to take a safer path. I'm better with blades then traps.
Zayden: I do have find/remove traps among my skillset, but I may be rusty
Bixi Fizzlebang: I couldn't say how fancy the chain is, but I think if it's as powerful as we believe, they may have hidden or disguised it
Talwin: We give you trust Zayden.
Talwin: I'm fine investigating the forge Bran. I can take a small team and investigate
BOB So everyone is heading to the forge
Talwin: [SKILL] Observation [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 13) [SUCCESS by 11] [d20 = 2]
Branwyn: The forge is off to your right Talwin. Where you see the light
Branwyn: Don't open the door in front of you. It's full of orc slaves
Talwin: Whispers
Talwin: Keep going straight?
N'laea gets bow out and ready
This large area contains various implements for torturing prisoners large and small. There are an iron maiden, 2 racks, thumbscrews, iron boots, chains, whips, branding irons, strapadoes, etc. A fire pit in the center of the room gives it all a hellish light.
Zayden: ouch
Zayden: you guys feel like I should run a trap check here?
Talwin: Grunts
Talwin: Torture room
Talwin: Does a pass through to ensure not missing anything. Looks for a torture room entrance in the floor. To torture based on sensory deprivation
Talwin: [SKILL] Engineering [2] [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 10) [SUCCESS by 8] [d20 = 2]
Talwin: [SKILL] Observation [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 13) [SUCCESS by 10] [d20 = 3]
Talwin: Grunts in interest
Talwin: Unwraps
Talwin: And what might you be?
Zayden: oh he got some treasure?
Talwin: Holds up
Talwin: Oh SWEET!
Talwin: Gold Chain with Fire Opal
Zayden: Nice!
Zayden: That'll keep ya warm!
Talwin: Smiles
Zayden: Good question is that The chain or just A chain?
Talwin: Walks to Bran
Talwin: Hands the Beautiful necklace over
Zayden: Anybody wondering why such a fancy chain was hanging out in the torture chamber?
Indigo: I bet it was an elf's and they took it from them
Craigh: That is an excellent question.
Zayden: Elves are known for their jewelry?
Indigo: Elves have pretty things. Giants and orcs don't
Craigh: when they said chain, honestly, I thought of a large iron anchor chain kind of thing.
Raelynn: Of course we are!
Zayden: Didn't intend to offend Raelynn, I'm just learning
Indigo: Want to go up this hallway then?
Zayden: which hallway?
Craigh: I can use a scroll of Detect Magic to see if this pendant is enchanted.
Zayden: Oh yea I'm cool with following Indigo
N'laea: I thought there were orcs.
Craigh: Back there, behind a locked door.
N'laea nods and puts bow away...for now
BOB So Indigo is moving down that hallway to the north
Craigh: follows, near the rear of the pack
BOB Indigo enters a chamber with three hallways leading off of it
Talwin: [SKILL] Observation [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 13) [FAILURE by 1] [d20 = 14]
N'laea slowly catches up relieved to see Talwin close to Indigo
Indigo: This place is a maze
BOB Down the end of each hallway there is a door
Zayden: I could test for traps
Zayden: but I kinda feel like we should move
N'laea: [SKILL] Observation [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 12) [FAILURE by 4] [d20 = 16]
Talwin: Cool
Talwin: Opens Door
N'laea tries to listen and shrugs
Talwin: Sorry
N'laea moves out of Talwin's way
N'laea: Go for it.
This chamber is unlit, has only scanty straw, and it is quite noisome with orc odor. There are 16 orcs in here.
Michael (Talwin): Dear god the stench
Talwin: Backs up, retches
Talwin: Close door
Indigo: What was it?
Talwin: I counted about 16 orcs. Er, not much else other then a wafted stench
Talwin: A little bit of straw
N'laea: Leave them to rot here.
Indigo: Wonder where all the orcs come from?
Zayden: First Giants now orcs, sheesh
Talwin: Maybe the Giants are eating them
Talwin: I don't know
Zayden: Could be
Indigo: Want to try the other door?
Zayden: Oh wait I've seen them eat, believe me, Giants are not picky
Talwin: And behind door number 2!
This chamber is unlit, has only scanty straw, and it is quite noisome with orc odor. There are 24 orcs in here.
Michael (Talwin): Gags some more
Talwin: Even more
Talwin: Not sure exact amount
Talwin: Maybe 20 or more? Less then 30
Zayden: Why so many?
Zayden: Oh you think they're all here for the statue carving competition?
Bixi Fizzlebang: slave labor?
Branwyn: The ones I saw looked like slaves
Zayden: That’s dark Bixi!
Zayden: although probably accurate
This chamber is unlit, has only scanty straw, and it is quite noisome with orc odor. There are 48 orcs in here.
Talwin: Baffled
Bixi Fizzlebang: I'm not saying it's a good thing!
Talwin: Hey guys?
Talwin: As much as this smells
Talwin: There's something odd going on here with the numbering
Talwin: Why are the amounts all divisible by four
Talwin: 16, 24, 48
Talwin: Shudders
Talwin: The giants are torturing me with math
Zayden: Lots of numbers are divisible by four, no big deal
Talwin: Well, that's all the doors, unless you want to search the rooms more carefully
Talwin: I could have missed something. The rooms are dark, but...
Branwyn: No thank you
N'laea: Leave them to their fate unless you wish to kill them. We have another purpose.
Talwin: Shrugs. OK.
Talwin: Well that's all the rooms
Talwin: Repeats
Talwin: Move right along?
Tiberius: Talwin, you know there are more hallways back here?
Talwin: Shakes head. Sorry, I meant for this area
Branwyn: If there's nothing else maybe we could try the hallway to the south next
Zayden: so narrow
Talwin: There’s a fork here
Zayden: Like the mind of a giant
Here are stacks of giant arms and armor, being repaired or fabricated. In the area first entered are 19 pike-sized spears, 41 6' spears, 16 battle axes, 9 two-handed swords, and other weapons and armor usable only by giants. A bit further on are some helmets balanced on shields and propped up by 6 each war hammers and maces. There are forges and bellows in the eastern section of the room.
Talwin: In Awe
There are 7 dwarves chained there, forced to labor making weapons. They are very eager to escape.
Talwin: What the fuck
Talwin: Hurries to the dwarves
Talwin: Hey guys, help me with these
Fire Giant 1 hits the back of Talwin’s hand with a Two-handed Sword, wounding him.
Talwin: Ow
Talwin: In great anger, and with great strength, readies the massive sword
Talwin to Reven / Lipthink (giant sword): I hope you like Giant. Grins mentally with maniacal glee. I told you we would have our chance!
Reven / Lipthink (giant sword) Talwin: I despise giants, but I sense that you mean the same thing
Indigo: heads down the hallway to see what is happening
Bixi Fizzlebang: [CAST] Hold Person [at Giant, Fire 1]
Save [15] [Target 7] -> [for Giant, Fire 1] [vs Bixi Fizzlebang] [TARGET-SAVED]
Talwin to Reven / Lipthink (giant sword): well my friend, this partnership might be short lived, but I’m honored that we get to fight together at least once. May my swing and your cut be true. Even if I go down, may your days be filled with grand slaughter. Let's dance with the giants now. Let them know our wrath!
Branwyn: goes down the hallway
Reven / Lipthink (giant sword) Talwin: I am ready, friend. I am ready.
Youtargim : [Translation] You really should surrender, they will kill you before you get to cry out in pain! Just drop your weapons
[understood by: ]
N'laea tries to shoot arrows into Fire Giant 1’s eye but misses.
Craigh tries to lasso Fire Giant 1’s legs but misses.
Tiberius: Well Cat, you have to guard our backs, so do a good job
Tiberius: ARRRRRGGGGGGGG
Tiberius: [CHECK] Dexterity (vs. Target 14) [SUCCESS by 9] [d20 = 5]
BOB Tiberius goes running down the hallway taking corners closely and manages to not fall over as he comes to a halt .... still 80 feet away from the giants
Talwin: With a straining growl...
Zayden: Gotta admire his spirit
Talwin tries to attack the Fire Giant Soulless with his magically possessed giant two-handed sword but misses.
Zayden: Good time to check with that sword see what's up?
Fire Giant Soulless hits Craigh on top of his head with his fist, wounding him.
Fire Giant 1 hits Talwin’s lower side with a Two-handed Sword, critically wounding him.
[ROUND 2]
