you are sailing/rowing out of the harbor and heading North, going clockwise around Lake Piepus
Spring: Lanek: rows
TMO: Craigh does his best, and does not touch an oar
Zayden: Time to work those shoulders lads
LordBiBo: Akilah sighs and says, “I suppose I will help row a bit.”
As the group is now trying to sail against the current, everyone tries to put in some extra effort.

Indigo applies his boating skills to their efforts and Youtargim steers the ship successfully with his superior seamanship.
The group makes it most of the way to the north shore.
As everyone is rowing and helping towards evening
Zayden: Isn't rowing lovely lads!?
No one, except Craigh, is surprised when they hear a wet squelching and spot three Scrags clambering over the railing of the ship
Zayden: oh great, here we go again
Spring (Lanek): Lanek: OH FFS!
Indigo hits Scrag 3 in the shin with his Short swords, moderately wounding it.
Scrag 3 regenerates a little but remains moderately wounded.

Scrag (Coltish) regenerates to moderately wounded.
Scrag (Coltish) tries to bite Raelynn and misses, but manages to claw at her back and forearm, lightly wounding her.
The scrag GRABS at Rae and tries to drag her off the ship but fails to get a good enough hold
Raelynn: Get off me, you disgusting thing!
Licornah tries to attack Scrag (Coltish) but misses.

Indigo hits Scrag 3 in the fingers and forearm with his Short Swords, critically wounding it.
Akilah bint-Fahkr al Hiyal tries to attack Scrag 3, but misses.
Scrag 3 regenerates to heavily wounded.
Scrag 3 tries to bite Akilah and misses, but claws at her shoulder and thigh.
Akilah bint-Fahkr al Hiyal: Most would ask me out to dinner before touching my thigh....
Troll, Freshwater Scrag 3: [CHECK] Strength (vs. Target 10) [SUCCESS by 4] [d20 = 6]
Akilah bint-Fahkr al Hiyal: [CHECK] Strength (vs. Target 18) [FAILURE by 1] [d20 = 19]

Howard Plum casts Magic Missile at Scrag (Coltish), killing it.
Scrag (Coltish) begins to regenerate but remains dead for now.
Scrag 1, who is swimming happily in the lake and not in combat, continues to regenerate.
Craigh rushes to the port side of the ship, throws the lasso and manages to wrap it around both the scrag and Akilah, then ties it off to a stanchion to stop them from fleeing
Lanek: [CHECK] Strength (vs. Target 11) [FAILURE by 9] [d20 = 20]
Lanek tries to pull on the rope to get Akilah and Scrag 3 up out of the water, but his strength fails him.
Lanek does not get any traction on the wet rope
Indigo: jumps overboard and hits Scrag 3 in the arm and neck, killing it.
Indigo: [SKILL] Swimming [MOD:STR] (vs. Target 17) [FAILURE by 1] [d20 = 18]
After killing Scrag 3, Indigo finds himself struggling to swim in the water.
Zayden: Swim indigo swim!
LordBiBo: With nothing living to stab and a rope keeping her from drowning, Akilah says, “In my country, it costs a hand to touch a woman without consent.”
Akilah then removes the hand with her blade that had grabbed her thigh.
Effect ['Bardic Inspiration;ATK: 1;SAVE: 1;MORALE: 2'] to [to Indigo] [by Zayden]
Zayden yells "Indigo you can do it!" and gives Indigo his special Bardic inspiration.
Licornah casts Dance of the Unicorns on Akilah which would allow her to blink herself back onto the deck of the ship.
Licornah: Craig could you retrieve Indigo please so we can move along away from the sea scum?
Scrag 1, who is swimming happily in the lake and not in combat, continues to regenerate and is now only moderately wounded.
Craigh tries to detach his lasso from the scrag
Craigh: [CHECK] Dexterity (vs. Target 15) [SUCCESS by 2] [d20 = 13]

Lanek: [CHECK] Strength (vs. Target 11) [SUCCESS by 3] [d20 = 8]
Lanek PULLS back on the rope and hauls Indigo up onto the deck
leaving the two scrags behind and one on the ship
Shislif (Zayden): nice pull Lanek!
Lanek: flops bonelessly on the deck
Akilah bint-Fahkr al Hiyal: pockets a scrag hand
Raelynn: You were really gallant, Lanek! Thank you!
Raelynn: You know, that spell will last a little longer. I bet you could win some arm wrestling if you needed...
Lanek: grunts
Lanek: waves weakly
Indigo: Thank you Craigh and Lanek!
Craigh: Glad I could help, Indigo.
Lisa (Indigo): That was fancy rope tricks!
Craigh: I've try to keep in practice with it
Lisa (Indigo): Not sure why I've been struggling swimming lately
The group loots the dead scrag and finds 4 gems to add to the Loot Chest.
Hematite: Gray-black
Chrysoprase: Translucent apple to emerald green
Black Opal: Dark green with black mottling and golden flecks
Jade: Light to dark green
Akilah bint-Fahkr al Hiyal: takes a knife and pins the hand to the mast to dry in the sun before wringing out her wet clothes. “I am not believing that I have been grabbed by such a filthy beast,” she says, wringing out her hair.
Craigh: Craigh says, “Your secret is safe with us.”
Lanek: that's a good rule though. no consent, lose a hand. I like it
Akilah bint-Fahkr al Hiyal: says to Lanek, “Very few repeat offenders that way.”
Craigh: [SKILL] Animal Rending [MOD:DEX] (vs. Target 17) [SUCCESS by 10] [d20 = 7]
Craigh collects some body parts for spell or ink components
“A lot of body part collectin goin on,” Zayden says uncomfortably.
Craigh: It's an unpleasant part of the job, but often magic requires weird supplies.
The date is Be____tre, 14th Man (Early Spring), 358 SKR
Young Moon's phase is Full Moon
Old Moon's phase is Morning Crescent
The time is 6:00 PM
the group made it 24 miles across the northwest corner of Lake Peipus and are now on the northern shore of the lake
Zayden says Yall wanna anchor here for the night?
Zayden says Could do a lil fishing
Lisa (Indigo): Sounds good
Licornah heals Indigo, Talwin, Zayden, and Raelynn bringing them all to full health.
Zayden: Thank you Lico, feel much better
Zayden: Feel more capable as well!
Indigo: Thank you Licornah!
Zayden: So who's on first with me?
Licornah: I'm hoping for third to rest up after using spells
Zayden: Yeahhhh doin it the Rae way
First Watch – Zayden, Raelynn, and Craigh
Zayden: so hey Rae, how you feeling about our adventures so far? I feel like we haven't had a chance to chat
Zayden: and Craigh
Raelynn: Oh, silly. We did chat some about your love life, remember?
Zayden: Oh right!
Raelynn: Although I'll need to ask your type and all when we get back so start thinking on it so I can get a list together for you!
Zayden: My memory isn't so good, but I'm sure the pipe smoke has nothing to do with that
Raelynn: But how are you doing? You were very good in Rivers Bend!
Raelynn: I didn't know you and Craigh were so good with plans!
Raelynn: looking over at Craigh to include him
Craigh: It's been interesting. I'm not used to riding herd on this many people all at once.
Zayden: IT worked out pretty good yea
Zayden: Kind of like jazz you know, very impromptu
Zayden: or improvisational
Craigh: Yes, although it's best to have a plan of sorts *before* you begin.
Raelynn: Oh, but you know... YOU haven't told me about your love life, Craigh.
Zayden: I'd like to hear about that as well
Zayden: Zayden loves love
Craigh: looks skyward, rolling his eyes
Craigh: Heh. You already know all there is to know about it.
Raelynn: Mhmm.
Raelynn: Or you could just... tell me.
Raelynn: stares intently waiting
Zayden: shifts in place
Craigh: No, seriously, there's nothing there to discuss. Nothing recent at all, all distant memory at this point.
Zayden: each day is a new opportunity, we can open our hearts and see what the universe has to offer
Raelynn: Okay, then did you lie to Yout about that random drunk guy? Did you really know him?
Raelynn: Because I thought maybe you didn't but after this trip... you know MANY interesting people.
Craigh: It's kind of been my job lately. I can't do much personally any more, so I compensate by knowing people who can.
Zayden: you do plenty Craigh
Raelynn: So you say, but your double lassoing AND then whip lasso and Indigo save was VERY impressive!
Raelynn: smiles
Craigh: shrugs
Raelynn: And with one arm! No offense, of course.
Craigh: As much as I can, but as broken as I am, I'm very limited now.
Zayden: I agree with Rae
Raelynn: Broken?
Craigh: I had a tower fall on me.
Craigh: It tends to leave a mark
Zayden: I think, considering our final destination (hell right?), it's important that we're tight knit and self confident, none of this self doubt business
Raelynn: Hmm, well yes, very much so, but I never thought of you as broken. That's very negative, you know?
Craigh: It's not self-doubt, it's a realistic analysis of my capabilities.
Zayden: There's an old saying we learn in Bard school
Zayden: You're perfect just the way you are, AND there's room for improvement
Raelynn: Oh, that's a good saying!
Craigh: smiles wryly.
Zayden: both can exist at the same time
Zayden: And hey, you still got one good arm to hug me with
Zayden: do you mind?
Raelynn: I think you put too much emphasis on your physical and not your mental, either. You're very clever.
Raelynn: And I bet you've become more clever because of it.
Craigh: I don't actually need a pep talk, you know, although I appreciate the thought. I'm physically frail from all the damage I took, and only have one arm. All that's left is what skill and mind I can apply.
Zayden awaits permission to initiate a hug with Craigh
Raelynn: You called yourself broken. I don't like when my friends call themselves broken. I don't like when OTHERS call my friends broken.
Craigh: Craigh doesn't realize Zayden is waiting for anything
Zayden: gonna leave me hangin broseph?
Craigh: Huh?
Zayden: approaches Craigh
Craigh: .... Hi?
Zayden: it's just a hug, don't worry, the water's fine
Zayden: gets in closer
Craigh: Oh... uhh... okay
Zayden hugs Craigh for a solid 20 seconds
Craigh: is very confused, but okay with it
Zayden: thanks for letting me do that
Zayden releases Craigh
Craigh: Sure, any time, I guess.
Zayden: Rae you wanna get in on this?
Raelynn: I do love a good hug!
Raelynn: joins the group hug
Zayden: Group hug!
Craigh: Is... uh... is anybody actually keeping an eye out for danger?
Zayden: that was great, thank you Rae and Craigh
Raelynn: Only the danger you present to yourself.
Zayden: sometimes the greatest danger comes from within
Craigh: Glad I could help, I suppose.
Raelynn: Just remember: be nice to my friend, okay? And you are my friend. So be nice to yourself!
Zayden: No supposing about it, you did help, thank you
Craigh: [TOWER] [SKILL] Observation [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 15) [SUCCESS by 6] [d20 = 9]
Zayden: [SKILL] Fishing [MOD:WIS] (vs. Target 10) [FAILURE by 9] [d20 = 19]
Raelynn: Any luck, Zayden?
Zayden: doesn't look like it!
Raelynn: So what other hobbies do you have, Craigh?
Craigh: Mostly books these days.
Raelynn: That's lovely! Thistle was really into books. Hm, maybe I should pick one up for her in Dryad's Lair...
Raelynn: Just making them or reading anything in particular?
Zayden: that sounds very thoughtful
Craigh: As a way to earn some income, I make books, but I also enjoy reading them when there's time.
Zayden: Do you write them?
Raelynn: Or illustrate them?
Craigh: No, I can't draw. Most of my skill is in assembling the book, not really on filling it.
Zayden: very nice, sounds like a proper craft
Raelynn: Well maybe one day we can make one together with some pictures in there! I think that could be fun, don't you?
Craigh: Books for writers, journals, spell books for wizards, that type of thing.
The time is 10:00 PM
Craigh: I'd like that. Tell me what you want to do, and I'll start collecting the materials to make it.
Raelynn: I look forward to it!
Zayden: walks over to Akilah and nudges her, ever so gently, awake
Raelynn: Well, better go wake Indigo. Maybe some inspiration will come while I dream.
Zayden walks over to Akilah and nudges her, ever so gently, awake
Raelynn: gently wakes up Indigo
Indigo: Good morning!
Zayden: I've enjoyed our time together Rae and Craigh, sleep well
Raelynn: Good morning. It's been quiet so far so hopefully it stays so for you.
Akilah bint-Fahkr al Hiyal: wakes up and rubs the drowsiness out of her eyes
Raelynn: Good night!
Craigh: Sure thing. Sleep well.
Zayden gets comfortable and closes his eyes
Second Watch – Akilah and Indigo
Akilah bint-Fahkr al Hiyal: inspects her scrag hand to make sure it isn't up to any funny business.
Indigo: Are you going to keep the hand?
Akilah bint-Fahkr al Hiyal: For now. A warning to the other scrags, not to be getting the fresh with me.
Akilah bint-Fahkr al Hiyal: [SKILL] Observation [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 14) [SUCCESS by 13] [d20 = 1]
Akilah looks closely at the hand and can see that it is almost healed, but because it is not in the water directly it has not regrown anything to get larger
Akilah bint-Fahkr al Hiyal: Looks like it will keep fresh.
Indigo: That will be interesting
Akilah bint-Fahkr al Hiyal: I wonder if scrag flesh is edible. It could be a food that we can be forever eating, yes?
Indigo: I guess. Not sure I want to eat a scrag though
Indigo: Would eating a scrag make us regenerate?
Akilah bint-Fahkr al Hiyal: Probably tastes like camel's liver.
Indigo: What does camel liver taste like?
Akilah bint-Fahkr al Hiyal: I would imagine the acid in our stomachs would destroy the flesh.
Akilah bint-Fahkr al Hiyal: It tastes something like cinnamon beef.
Akilah bint-Fahkr al Hiyal: but not in a good way.
Indigo: That sounded good too. Oh well
Akilah bint-Fahkr al Hiyal: The rest of the camel tastes something like cinnamon beef, but in a good way.
Akilah bint-Fahkr al Hiyal: It is just the liver that is no good.
Indigo: So we eat the camel and throw out the liver
Indigo: I could do that
Akilah bint-Fahkr al Hiyal: Yes, it is good eating.
Indigo: Sorry there weren't any boat races in Rivers Bend while we were there. You didn't get to see much of the city
Indigo: Maybe it will be better when we get to Dryads Lair
Akilah bint-Fahkr al Hiyal: It is fine. It did not seem like a city I wanted to be spending much of the time in. Too much rain and hatred.
Indigo: Yeah it wasn't good.
Indigo: There's supposed to be a frozen dragon in Dryads Lair. Maybe we could see that
Indigo: I didn't last time I was there
Akilah bint-Fahkr al Hiyal: A living one?
Indigo: I dunno. Some people say it is and some say it's a statue
Indigo: There were lots of frozen things in that city when we were there. It was weird
Akilah bint-Fahkr al Hiyal: There is a statue of a dragon in the deserts of my home land. It is said it was once a mighty yellow dragon until a wizard came through and turned it into a statue.
Akilah bint-Fahkr al Hiyal: I have never seen it personally, but it makes for an interesting story.
Indigo: I've never seen a yellow dragon. I would go see that
Indigo: You give hair cuts, right? Do you think I need one?
Akilah bint-Fahkr al Hiyal: I would prefer to never see such a being in living form. They are said to be vicious beings who breath scorching sands that strip flesh from the bone.
Indigo: Wow!
Akilah bint-Fahkr al Hiyal: I am a barber, yes. I cut hair, beards, and other things. I can give you a trim if you wish.
Indigo: That would be nice if you don't mind. I usually cut it myself and it looks like ... this
Akilah bint-Fahkr al Hiyal: In my land, it is said that one should never be their own doctor, lawyer or barber.
Akilah bint-Fahkr al Hiyal: Have a seat on my blanket and Akilah will take care of this nest on your head.
Indigo: smiles
Indigo: Thank you
Indigo: sits on blanket
Akilah bint-Fahkr al Hiyal: takes out a straight razor and carefully begins trimming the uneven bits of Indigo's hair.
Akilah bint-Fahkr al Hiyal: Do you wish it cut short? or do you have anything else in mind?
Indigo: Ummm .. I dunno. At least so the front doesn't fall in my eyes when I'm fighting is good
Akilah bint-Fahkr al Hiyal: This is simple to be doing.
Akilah bint-Fahkr al Hiyal: trims the Indigo's hair in a neat military style cut that is somewhat stylish, but most of all functional.
Indigo: So how's it look?
Indigo: turns his head back and forth
Akilah bint-Fahkr al Hiyal: when done, she reaches into a cosmetic kit and pulls out a small mirror to show Indigo what he looks like
Indigo: It's not in my face any more
Indigo: Ohhhh
Indigo: looks in mirror and then smiles
Indigo: It does look good
Indigo: Thank you!
Akilah bint-Fahkr al Hiyal: It will stay out of your face for a long time.
Akilah bint-Fahkr al Hiyal: Think nothing of it.
Indigo: runs his hand over his hair
Indigo: Think you will go back to studying the Mist or see what adventures we get into?
Akilah bint-Fahkr al Hiyal: My last study was not so successful, and given how far away from the Mists we appear to be going, I do not know how much more study of it is in my future.
Indigo: To be honest, not sure it's worth the trouble
Akilah bint-Fahkr al Hiyal: There are other maladies to be studied in travel, for sure.
Indigo: Like swamp disease?
Indigo: We got lots of that in Drillian
Indigo: Well if you jump in a swamp
Indigo: You're a doctor too?
Akilah bint-Fahkr al Hiyal: In my land, all barbers practice medicine. We are good at cutting and it is helpful for cutting out illness.
Indigo: That could be useful
Indigo: Can you cut out poison?
Akilah bint-Fahkr al Hiyal: Oh no, though I can recommend medicines for them.
Akilah bint-Fahkr al Hiyal: but for example if one were to get an arrow stuck inside them, I could remove the arrow without destroying too much of the surrounding tissues.
Indigo: Ohh, that would be good. Ripping out arrows isn't a good thing to do
Akilah bint-Fahkr al Hiyal: It is not, particularly if they are barbed.
Indigo: You know all sorts of good stuff!
The time is 2:00 AM
Indigo: helps wake 3rd watch
Akilah bint-Fahkr al Hiyal: awakens the others as well
Third watch – Licornah, Howard, and Bixi
Licornah: :: wakes up, grabs weaving project and starts watch ::
Bixi Fizzlebang: Licornah, I've been wondering... how did you make a living before you got sent to pandemonium?
Licornah: :: thinks :: Well, I helped my parents on the farm, I helped heal in town, I supported the traveling troops, and I hung out with the animals...
Licornah: What did you do?
Bixi Fizzlebang: How did hanging out with the animals make you money? The rest makes sense, and sounds like a nice life... but if I can make money hanging out with animals...
Licornah: Well, my parent's farm earned money. Sometimes I would get paid for healing and you'd be surprised how much people will pay to hear what a squirrel thinks
Bixi Fizzlebang: I mean, I didn't really need to make a living per se. Just kind of did a lot of foraging and keeping the forest growing good stuff, you know
Licornah: Sure... I have thought about a garden where Branwyn’s Estate is but the place makes me ill, so I'm leery of food growing there
Bixi Fizzlebang: I didn't really “get” the whole money thing until I met... well, humans mostly
Bixi Fizzlebang: Oh the food's fine, I grew up there, I didn't know there way anything different
Licornah: Money seem to matter more when you need boats or support a town of people
Licornah: my order lives outdoors so we didn't think about money like that... we just did
Licornah: I mean some spell components are expensive, so we save for them... but otherwise, we just traded skills or food for other stuff
Bixi Fizzlebang: That sounds similar to my family. I mean our living quarters were inside but we spent most of our time outside
Licornah: :: shrug :: I get the need for money and why it's helpful
Bixi Fizzlebang: How about you Howard? How did you make a living before becoming an adventurer on the not so open seas here?
Howard Plum: I ... well ... I did not work as you would think of it
Howard Plum: I lived with my family and tried different vocations until I was sent to the Mages Guild in Dryads Lair.
Howard Plum: But I have never worked to earn a living
Bixi Fizzlebang: Mages don't do work?
Howard Plum: We study
Bixi Fizzlebang: Ahhhh
Howard Plum: We help people who request our services but I don't think that is work really
Bixi Fizzlebang: And what have you learned in your studies of Raelynn? /raises one eyebrow
Howard Plum: Miss Raelynn? I haven't studied ...
Howard Plum: blushes
Bixi Fizzlebang: Maybe not OFFICIALLY, but we've all noticed how you look at her
Bixi Fizzlebang: Right Licornah?
Howard Plum: Miss Raelynn is a very nice person. I like to think she is a good friend. It is nice to have friends that support you
Licornah: :: makes a face :: Umm, sorry, I haven't noticed.
Licornah: But I hope you're happy or I'm sorry...
Howard Plum: looks relieved
Bixi Fizzlebang: Oh yes, agreed to all of that... but I don't blush when I talk about my friends
Howard Plum: I think it's more of a skin condition
Howard Plum: Maybe I should ask about face creams
Bixi Fizzlebang: I bet Rae has some great face creams! You should ask her in the morning!
Howard Plum: looks down
Howard Plum: Maybe
Bixi Fizzlebang: I'm sure she'd be happy to help
Licornah: As a mage, you could do something about your face... no cream required, right? :: Continues weaving ::
Howard Plum: I could as a temporary measure ... that's a good idea. I don't cast much on myself
Licornah: :: shrug :: we don't have a lot of mages in my order, but those mages in Thay get up to that nonsense often
Bixi Fizzlebang: Well I might ask her anyway. This open water lifestyle hasn't been great for my skin, and most of my spells are illusions anyway... I want to actually be healthier, not just look it
Bixi Fizzlebang: Howard, what can you do that makes faces better? Will it work on me? And how long would it take you to teach me that glitter spell, if you were so inclined?
Howard Plum: When we get fully past the lake we'll be able to anchor by the shore at night and you can walk around on land for a bit
Bixi Fizzlebang: Thank goodness, Knotty needs some exercise
Howard Plum: The glitterdust spell? Well, you would need my book for a few days, so I wouldn't have it and then you would need to try to learn it so you couldn't do anything but that for those same days. It's hard to do on the road
Bixi Fizzlebang: Ahhh, maybe when we get back? (she asks hopefully)
Howard Plum: I will have to think about face spells
Howard Plum: Of course
Howard Plum: The thing about the glitterdust spell is that it will reveal invisible creatures as well as blind those beneath it
Bixi Fizzlebang: Well that sounds extremely useful as well as being pretty
Howard Plum: There are many purposes. I even put out a fire with it
Bixi Fizzlebang: Is there a way that you could, hypothetically, like... put the spell on a box so that when the box was opened, the spell went off?
Howard Plum: Not a terribly large fire, but a fire
Howard Plum: I don't think it can be contained
Bixi Fizzlebang: That's unfortunate
Bixi Fizzlebang: Unrelated question... is there somewhere in the town where we're going where I could get a box and just a ridiculous amount of regular average grade glitter?
Howard Plum: You can find anything in the city
Bixi Fizzlebang: Fantastic
Bixi Fizzlebang: This has been a really great adventure so far
Howard Plum: You think so?
Bixi Fizzlebang: I got Knotty, we're on a boat where the food keeps coming to us, AND now... um, nothing. just... open to possibilities
