So it is morning

you are all fully healed

you are sailing towards Bywater

Halgert, Human, Sailor/Fisherman: I am very grateful to you all for making it possible for me to get home

Raelynn: Well you had good luck for us to run into you as we headed north!

Craigh: Glad we were able to help out.

Halgert, Human, Sailor/Fisherman: Sad smile, I am grateful, do not get me wrong, but I am not certain I would say good luck

Halgert, Human, Sailor/Fisherman: Being the only survivor,

Halgert, Human, Sailor/Fisherman: I will have to go talk with his widow

Halgert, Human, Sailor/Fisherman: I am very grateful to be alive

Halgert, Human, Sailor/Fisherman: so thank you all very much

Raelynn: You can't fault yourself for being the survivor. Sometimes fate just works like that.

Craigh: Being the survivor is hard, I understand

Halgert, Human, Sailor/Fisherman: I have never had a friend die

Halgert, Human, Sailor/Fisherman: You are adventurers and heroes

Halgert, Human, Sailor/Fisherman: How do you deal with it?

Licornah: Perhaps your friend has transcended this world as a sailor and will be living as a seal or a wolf

Halgert, Human, Sailor/Fisherman: That is interesting

Indigo: I try to think about what they would want me to do

Raelynn: You try to keep living the life they'd want you to live. To keep them close in your memories, but to keep going as they'd want you to go on. No good friend would want you to wallow and give up on life because they couldn't live it.

Halgert, Human, Sailor/Fisherman: Thank you

Raelynn: Sometimes it helps if you can find a way to connect with them - write them a letter or hold a little ritual just for them and their memory. Like fishing on their birthday or something?

Halgert, Human, Sailor/Fisherman: I will ask her what she would like

Raelynn: nods

Raelynn: Maybe you can do something together, but it's okay to do something for yourself, too. He was your friend as well as her husband. You can grieve in your own way.

Halgert, Human, Sailor/Fisherman: None of you except Indigo has been to Bywater before?

Indigo: looks around

Indigo: Don't think so

Raelynn: Not that I remember... I've sailed between Dryads Lair and Loosend, but I don't remember stopping in Bywater.

Halgert, Human, Sailor/Fisherman: If you need anything I will be most grateful to help you

Halgert, Human, Sailor/Fisherman: I do not have room at my house

Halgert, Human, Sailor/Fisherman: well room

Halgert, Human, Sailor/Fisherman: I have a place that I rent

Indigo: We wouldn't try to have you take all of us in

Halgert, Human, Sailor/Fisherman: But I will be glad to help you find someplace

Indigo: You would need a mansion!

Halgert, Human, Sailor/Fisherman: Laughs

Raelynn: Oooh if you could find me a nice, soft bed somewhere safety, that would be lovely.

Halgert, Human, Sailor/Fisherman: I have never found a treasure like that

As the group rows and with a bit of wind you move eastwards along the northern shore of the lake

the port side is clear and calm along the shore, it seems like it would be easy to just beach anywhere to land and unload anything

Once you get to Bywater, it is a large town, a shallow water port, several hundred people living in town

Third largest town in Gold Hills

Craigh: Where should we dock, Halgert?

Halgert, Human, Sailor/Fisherman: When we get close they will raise a flag for us

Halgert, Human, Sailor/Fisherman: Who shall I say is in charge?

Craigh: Continue rowing, sailors!

Craigh: Indigo, I think.

Indigo: Yout and I can take care of docking

Halgert, Human, Sailor/Fisherman: Good

Halgert, Human, Sailor/Fisherman: SMILES

Halgert, Human, Sailor/Fisherman: I was really thinking I would never see this place again

Indigo: Feels good to be home?

Craigh: I understand.

Pulling into port quietly and simply

Craigh: Good luck, Halgert.

Halfling, Port Master: Hello there

Halfling, Port Master: How are you folk doing?

Halfling, Port Master: Big Folk?

Halfling, Port Master: and who are you? (looking at Indigo)

Halfling, Port Master: Pulls the ropes and ties off the Buttercup

Halfling, Tallfellow: Hey there

Halfling, Tallfellow: Good to see new fresh face

Craigh: Travelers from Drillian. This is Indigo, our captain.

Raelynn: Hello!

Raelynn: Oh not me. Him.

Halfling, Port Master: Hello Captain Indigo

Licornah: :: nods ::

Halfling, Port Master: OH

Halfling, Port Master : [Translation] Hello Captain Indigo

Indigo: Hello!

Raelynn: points to actual Indigo

Indigo : [Translation] Hello! We need to dock for a day or two

Indigo : [Translation] It's actually Admiral Indigo, but you can just call me Indigo

Indigo: grins

Halfling, Port Master : [Translation] Admiral, good to know and I will be glad find you a dock for as long as you need

Indigo : [Translation] Thank you!

Indigo : [Translation] Our ship got damaged so I'll need to take a look at it later. Also need to find an anchor

Indigo : [Translation] Ours got chewed off

Halfling, Port Master : [Translation] WOW

Halfling, Port Master : [Translation] Where are you coming from?

Halfling, Port Master : Taking notes

Indigo : [Translation] Some undead seals bit it off

Halfling, Port Master : [Translation] And when are you heading out, to where?

Indigo : [Translation] We're coming from Loosend and going to Bort's Beach

Raelynn: humming to herself

Indigo: I'm telling him about the damages and we'll need to be here for a day or two

Raelynn: nods

Halfling, Port Master : [Translation] I can have inspectors check out what you need and write up a bill of work for you

Raelynn: It probably would be good to get it repaired after all that...

Craigh: How many days from here to our destination, Indigo?

Indigo : [Translation] Oh I was going to do the repairs ...

Indigo: Uhhh maybe another 4 days Craigh

Indigo : [Translation] She's still seaworthy. But the anchor is a problem and I can't fix that

Halfling, Port Master : [Translation] Very well

Indigo : [Translation] I would be happy to see what the inspector says

Halfling, Port Master : [Translation] Thank you

Halfling, Port Master : [Translation] Do you need anything else Admiral?

Indigo : [Translation] How much are docking fees? I can pay you now

Halfling, Port Master : [Translation] OH no! You do not pay! You are a Bounder!

Indigo : [Translation] You know me?

Indigo : [Translation] Bounders can still pay their way. I'm taking up space in your port

Halfling, Port Master : [Translation] Everyone knows of Admiral Indigo the Official Bounder for the King

Indigo : [Translation] Can you recommend an inn that can take all of us?

Halfling, Port Master : [Translation] I would say to go to the Green Inn, they have places for both normal people and Big People

Indigo : [Translation] I will go find it. Thank you!

Indigo: He says we should go to the Green Inn

Indigo: They can take all of us

Raelynn: They have beds?

Raelynn: Is it a good place, Halgert?

Indigo: I'm sure they have beds ...

Craigh: Short, or long beds?

Indigo: They let all kinds of people stay there

Halgert, Human, Sailor/Fisherman: The Green Inn is nice, a bit expensive, but extra helping for dinner

Halgert, Human, Sailor/Fisherman: They are used to having Big Folk there too

Indigo: I think we deserve a big dinner

Raelynn: Oh maybe we'll meet someone else new!

Halgert, Human, Sailor/Fisherman: Looks around, I do not know where Bixi went off to, but we should try to get that boar out of the hold

Halgert, Human, Sailor/Fisherman: Who can take care of it?

Raelynn: We either need a crane or magic, I think.

Youtargim: Yes Rae is correct

Howard Plum: I don't have enough magic for that!

Youtargim: We need that crane, points over to the dock

Raelynn: A special door or teleportation magic?

Youtargim: But once we hoist him up, we need someone to handle him

Raelynn: Oh! Well that crane is convenient.

Youtargim: I am certain they are used to dealing with cargo here

Youtargim: but with live cargo that is not intended for the butcher?

Indigo: I'm not babysitting the boar

Raelynn: Good thing Bixi ran off. Not sure she'd refer to him as cargo...

Halfling, Port Master : [Translation] We will be glad to purchase that boar,

Raelynn: Maybe Knotty will go run off and find her.

Indigo: sighs

Indigo : [Translation] It's our friend's pet

Indigo : [Translation] She wants to keep him

Halfling, Port Master : [Translation] Lots of pets get older and bigger, and then it is time to say goodbye

Halfling, Port Master : [Translation] My daughter loved her little goat,

Halfling, Port Master : [Translation] and she loved the stew that night too

Indigo: laughs

Indigo : [Translation] I don't think Bixi will be like your daughter

Indigo : [Translation] We need to keep it safe until she decides to let it go

Halfling, Port Master : [Translation] I can have it put into a pen for you

Halfling, Port Master : [Translation] There are holding areas for cattle and horses

Indigo : [Translation] It will be safe? The elf can talk to it and explain

Halfling, Port Master : [Translation] Really?

Halfling, Port Master : [Translation] That would be nice

Halfling, Port Master : [Translation] Maybe they can talk to the other beasts

Halfling, Port Master : [Translation] get them to relax

Indigo: The Port Master says we can put Knotty in a pen. I said Licornah could explain it to him

Indigo : [Translation] Sure! Licornah likes talking to animals.

Indigo : [Translation] I think probably more than people

Halfling, Port Master : [Translation] Good to know

Raelynn: nods politely

Indigo: Licornah, if we take Knotty and put him in a pen would you talk to him and the other animals so they'll be happy?

Licornah: I can try of course... but I'm not sure he'll agree

Indigo: He's got to think it's better than the hold

Elf : [Translation] Hello there, can I have someone look after my boat please

Indigo: He can see the sun and stars when it gets night

Halfling, Port Master : [Translation] Certainly Lord Olgorith

Indigo: looks at elf oddly

Raelynn: also looks at elf oddly

Elf : [Translation] Excellent

Indigo : [Translation] Good day! I've never seen an elf who spoke Hin

Elf : [Translation] Hello there good man

Elf : [Translation] How are you this fine day?

Indigo : [Translation] Glad to be here and off the river after so long. I am Admiral Indigo. You are a Lord?

Elf : [Translation] Hello my fair maiden, to Raelynn

Raelynn : [Translation] Oh! That I do understand. Hello!

Elf : [Translation] Only a Lord of my small portion of the Wildlands, how are you Admiral Indigo?

Elf : [Translation] Welcome to the Comfortable Lands

Elf : [Translation] Welcome home

Indigo : [Translation] Very good. We are going to the Green Inn. I don't mean to delay your business

Raelynn : [Translation] Thank you! I hope it lives up to its name. I'm Raelynn. And you?

Elf : [Translation] Ahh a good comfortable place, you will find good food there, if you seek more entertainment go in search of the Jade Goblet they have a more lively atmosphere

Indigo : [Translation] Thank you!

Indigo: Okay I think we are about all set

Indigo: For the ship any way

Raelynn: That was a lot of boat talk.

Raelynn: Sorry ship.

Indigo: smiles

Elf : [Translation] I am Lord Olgorith

Craigh: Floaty thingy!

Indigo: An inspector is going to look at the ship damage. We're good to dock here for a day or two.

Lorie (Licornah): :: curtsies and heads to the hold to chat with Knotty ::

Raelynn : [Translation] Lord? Oh! I'm sorry, where are my manners?

Raelynn: [SKILL] Etiquette [MOD:CHA] (vs. Target 16) [SUCCESS by 14] [d20 = 2]

Indigo: We can put Knotty in a pen and the Port Master would like Licornah to maybe talk to the other animals to make sure they all stay calm

Raelynn: prettily curtseys

Indigo: Lord Olgorith says we should go to the Jade Goblet after we get settled at the Inn for fun

Elf : [Translation] I am charmed to meet your acquaintance, Will you be here in Bywater for long? It would be very nice to show you about the town, and the forests and glens to the north

Raelynn : [Translation] That would be lovely! I think only until our ship is repaired? However long Indigo said that would take.

Elf : [Translation] I would be very happy to spend time with you,

Lord Olgorith BOWS

Lord Olgorith watches and smiles

Raelynn : [Translation] We'll be at the Green Inn, I think? Perhaps I'll see you once we get settled in.

Elf : [Translation] I can meet you there and bring you to a place that will be better suited to your desires

Elf : [Translation] Glances over at Youtargim, If you are comfortable with that

Elf : [Translation] He does watch you closely

Raelynn : [Translation] Mmm, yes he does, but we haven't really moved past the interest stage. I'm just waiting to be, well, wooed, you know?

Raelynn : [Translation] But I do know I'm looking forward to whatever is more comfortable than a ship hold. My back is killing me.

Elf : [Translation] Warm smile, takes Rae's hand and bows to kiss it, I accept the challenge

So Licornah chats with Knotty

but She does convince him to acquiesce to the ropes again and being lifted up and out onto the dock

and Licornah leads him to the holding pens

Licornah does watch and sees that this pen is secure, but also understands from the animals (cows, horses, ponies) that this pen is next to the slaughter house pen

Zayden: maybe we should give Knotty some positive reinforcement? Encourage her good behavior?

Licornah: :: frowns and works to reassure the animals and Knotty ::

Raelynn: How do you do that with a pig?

Zayden: what do pigs like?

Craigh: Same way you do any other animal?

Halfling, Porter: Hello there

Halfling, Porter: How are you all

Zayden: give her something she enjoys, a treat

Licornah: offers Knotty some fruit and chats with all the animals for a few to see how they are

Zayden: or rub its belly and say “good girl!” if pigs enjoy their belly rubbed that is

Halfling, Porter: The Port Master told me you needed some help around town?

Zayden: I know I do

Raelynn: Well Knotty is a him so it might help by saying “Good boy”?

Zayden smiles

Raelynn: laughs

Zayden: oh right, sorry Knotty!

Halfling, Porter: Thank you? I guess

Raelynn: Oh, hello!

Halfling, Porter: A nice tip would be welcome

Halfling, Porter: Not sure a belly rub is where I am headed

Raelynn: Sorry we were discussing our... um, what is Knotty? Companion? Animal?

Zayden: Mascot?

Raelynn: Er, we can tip you in actual currency, not belly rubs.

Halfling, Porter: That is a good thing

Raelynn: Unless you really wanted one from Zayden. I'm not one to judge!

Halfling, Porter: Looks up at Zayden

Halfling, Porter: I have seen cleaner more handsome Big Folk before

Zayden: Hey I don't judge. I imagine currency can get you further than belly rubs though

Halfling, Porter: It can even get you a bath

Raelynn: It's been a rough few days. Weeks? Forever on the water. I'm sure we've all looked cleaner.

Raelynn: He does play music beautifully even when dirty, though!

Raelynn: But a bath sounds wonderful/.

Zayden: I second that Rae

Halfling, Porter: Where can I take you?

Halfling, Porter: Looking around, counting all the people

Raelynn: I think we were going to get set up at the Green Inn first? And then maybe people can go do whatever it is they want to do?

Raelynn: I know I'd like to freshen up first.

Craigh: Bath good!

Halfling, Porter: Oh certainly, the Port Master gets a cut from them, you will get good service there

Halfling, Porter: looks at Craigh

Raelynn: Ahhh that's why he suggested it....

Raelynn: Well, Indigo seemed okay with it from their chat, and I do trust Indigo.

Halfling, Porter: Yes.... Bath..... Good....

Zayden: Yes I still reek of carp, thank you for the heals by the way, you're all lifesavers

Halfling, Porter: To the others, Is he special?

Zayden: literally!

Raelynn: As I said, it's been a long trip.

Raelynn: smiles

Indigo: Halgert and Lord Olgorith said it was good too.

Halgert, Human, Sailor/Fisherman: You know we will not be going to your mistresses place with all these Big People Henry, just stop that now

Henry, Halfling, Porter: Well you cannot blame a hin for trying

Henry, Halfling, Porter: Glad to take you all to the Green Inn

Raelynn: Thank you.

Halgert, Human, Sailor/Fisherman: Henry if you do not take care of them, I will tell the Port Master

Halgert, Human, Sailor/Fisherman: and you will not get any more special trips

Raelynn: Will we see you before we head off again, Halgert?

Henry, Halfling, Porter: Now Now, lets not get too hasty, there will be plenty of opportunities in the future

Zayden: Thanks Henry

Halgert, Human, Sailor/Fisherman: I will be glad to Miss Raelynn

Zayden: whispers to Rae: what do you think he means by “special trips”?

Craigh: Craigh chuckles. “I've been stuck on a boat with just these people for company. How special do you think I feel?”

Raelynn: Good!

Halgert, Human, Sailor/Fisherman: Once I get settled, and then I visit who I need to, I will look for your group tomorrow

Raelynn: Please give her our condolences as well.

Halgert, Human, Sailor/Fisherman: I will thank you

Indigo: Yes please

Henry, Halfling, Porter: What do you mean Halgert?

Henry, Halfling, Porter: Where is....

Raelynn: I'm one of those people, so you must feel VERY special, Craigh.

Henry, Halfling, Porter: OH

Raelynn: bats her eyelashes

Craigh: Really? Have I missed something?

Henry, Halfling, Porter: Looks around at the crew noticing that it is all new people with Halgert

Craigh: grins at her and winks.

Henry, Halfling, Porter: I am sorry for your loss

Henry, Halfling, Porter: I will light a candle for you tonight

Halgert, Human, Sailor/Fisherman: Thank you Henry

Halgert, Human, Sailor/Fisherman: Looks at the group, I will see you tomorrow, I will look for you after second breakfast

Raelynn: nods and waves

Indigo: See you tomorrow Halgert

The time is 10:00 AM

Licornah: :: Arrives at the Inn ::

Everyone arrives at the Green Inn,

Licornah: :: looks for Bixi to explain Knotty's situation and that he'll need to be on Slaughterhouse watch, but is safe with the other kind animals ::

Licornah: :: ponders how to find the bath to de-odorize herself ::

Halfling, Inn Keeper : [Translation] Hello there,

Halfling, Inn Keeper: Oh sorry, Hello there

Halfling, Inn Keeper: Sorry I only saw you Sir

Halfling, Inn Keeper: You are? (looking at Indigo)

Indigo: Hello, the Port Master recommended your Inn

Craigh: watches how Hin interact within their own societies.

Indigo: I'm Admiral Indigo and we need rooms and baths for everyone

Halfling, Inn Keeper: Excellent of old Trop to give us a blessing

Indigo: And food please

Raelynn: nods enthusiastically in agreement to all that

Zayden: ohh I like food

Indigo: Do you have room for all of us?

Halfling, Inn Keeper: Excellent, we can do that for you

Halfling, Inn Keeper: and for all of you

Halfling, Inn Keeper: Well

Halfling, Inn Keeper: Yes

Halfling, Inn Keeper: but

Indigo: But?

Halfling, Inn Keeper: You will have to squeeze, it is not the best at the moment

Craigh: There's always a 'but'

Halfling, Inn Keeper: I only have 6 rooms

Halfling, Inn Keeper : [Translation] She has a cute butt I will say, nods to Rae

Indigo: Are the 6 rooms empty?

Indigo: laughs

Craigh: Well, obviously, Indigo and his wife Raelynn here will get one room together.

Halfling, Inn Keeper: But I can make sure they are ready for you before supper

Indigo : [Translation] Want me to tell her that?

Raelynn: Oooh you catch on quick, Craigh.

Raelynn: laughs

Raelynn: I can share with Bixi.

Raelynn: Er, whenever she trots back in here.

Indigo: 6 rooms for about 12 of us is very good

Halfling, Inn Keeper : [Translation] Chuckles, you tell me, how do you like being with a Big One? I hear the elves are very sensual

Indigo: gasps

Halfling, Inn Keeper: I will be glad to host you then,

Raelynn: listens more closely assuming there is gossip

Indigo : [Translation] No, no! I've never been with any of these people like that

Halfling, Inn Keeper: for tonight and if you feel a need for different accommodations

Halfling, Inn Keeper: glances at Indigo and nods, of Course

Halfling, Inn Keeper: I will be glad to recommend another place where you can be free to... be free

Indigo: What's that place?

Craigh: notes to himself that tomorrow he should prepare Comprehend Languages

Halfling, Inn Keeper: Warm smile with Indigo, We can work out those details later

Halfling, Inn Keeper: for now you and the lovely Elf maiden in room two

Halfling, Inn Keeper: Hands over a key

Halfling, Inn Keeper: There is a double bath in there

Indigo: Thank you!

Halfling, Inn Keeper: Quickly hands out the other 5 keys

Indigo: scratches his head

Indigo: Do you want to go first?

Indigo: holds out key to Raelynn

Raelynn: If you don't mind. I, um, might have a visitor coming by?

Raelynn: Thank you! You can tell Craigh he owes you his second dinner.

Raelynn: goes to freshen up

Craigh: There are two dinners?

Indigo: Ummm ... she's not going to kick me out of the room is she?

Craigh: If she does you can take my bed.

Zayden: I find if the lady kicks you out you probably did something wrong

Craigh: Something you'd know a lot about?

Indigo: Then where would you sleep? This is getting confusing

Zayden: about fifty percent

Zayden smiles

Indigo: Easier when we'd get one big room and all sleep on the floor

Zayden: I'll sleep with whomever, I'm not picky

Craigh: She and Bixi will share a room, and you can bunk with any of us. At two to a room, it'll be easy to find a spot.

Craigh: So I've gathered.

so cleaning up, deep hot baths, clean clothes, freshening up,

and meeting in the common room downstairs for lunch

Halfling, Inn Keeper: Watching Indigo come down

Halfling, Inn Keeper: Checks if Rae has a smile on her face

Raelynn: radiantly smiling because she's CLEAN

Halfling, Inn Keeper: Nods sagely at Indigo

Licornah: :: appears in the common room ::

Zayden: Nothing like a hot bath!

Halfling, Inn Keeper: So Admiral Indigo the King's Bounder

Halfling, Inn Keeper: Saying in my humble Inn,

Halfling, Inn Keeper: I must say I am very surprised and grateful Sir

Raelynn: A hot bath, good lotions, a salt scrub. It's all so wonderful.

Indigo: Thank you for having us. I wish I had news to report

Halfling, Inn Keeper: You have been gone a very long time there must be lots of news

Craigh: Yeah, I know. I forget how wild my hair gets when it's clean.

Craigh: vainly tries to brush his hair back down from its wild curls

Halfling, Inn Keeper: Personally ladling out stew to each of you

Raelynn: I thought that was clean...

Halfling, Inn Keeper: You will be needing rooms for a few days

Indigo: Not much news that affects Gold Hills though. We killed a lot of things in the Dark Shire so that was good

Halfling, Inn Keeper: That is a good thing to hear

Zayden: Yummy stew Inn Keep

Halfling, Inn Keeper: Thank you Zayden

Licornah: :: stands :: Well then, where are we off to?

Halfling, Inn Keeper: I have found out that you are a decent Bard Zayden,

Zayden: Oh thank you

Halfling, Inn Keeper: Would you care to use the common room tonight?

Halfling, Inn Keeper: Of course I will provide you with drink

Zayden: It would be an honor Inn Keep

Zayden: drink is surely appreciated

Indigo: The elf lord says the Green Goblet is fun. What kind of place is that?

Halfling, Inn Keeper: The green goblet?

Indigo: some goblet place

Halfling, Inn Keeper: Hmmmm, not sure, Oh you mean the Jade Goblet,

Indigo: ohh Jade is green

Indigo: sorry

Indigo: laughs

Halfling, Inn Keeper: Yes those Elves have a way with their tongues don't they? (wink)

Indigo: Is it a good place?

Halfling, Inn Keeper: That is just over the hill

Halfling, Inn Keeper: it is near the gnome enclave

Halfling, Inn Keeper: a bit tight for the Big Folk but not too bad

Halfling, Inn Keeper: no rooms for them though

Indigo: Is it a gnome bar?

Halfling, Inn Keeper: More of a community place

Halfling, Inn Keeper: where we can gather, and the Big Folk can spend a bit of time

Halfling, Inn Keeper: After dark you will find a louder crowd there

Raelynn: A louder crowd?

Indigo: Thanks. I'm good going wherever people like

Halfling, Inn Keeper: Good happy folk you understand

Halfling, Inn Keeper: We will have new songs here thanks to Zayden

Halfling, Inn Keeper: I am sure over the next few nights he will get a reputation, draw in some people

Raelynn: I'm sure he will!

Craigh: We're going to be here for a day or two. We can stay here tonight and listen to Zayden, and go there tomorrow. Or let Zayden enchant his audience without our heckling.

Raelynn: He's nice and clean now so I'm sure he'll enchant plenty.

Zayden: can you enchant people with your heckling?

Raelynn: I can enchant people many ways.

Raelynn: smiles

Zayden: a useful skill!

Youtargim: Youtargim walks into the room, clean, bathed, dressed very nicely, with a cologne

Youtargim: That was a wonderful experience

Youtargim: Thank you innkeeper

Indigo: You took even longer than Raelynn to get ready!

Youtargim: and Thank You Indigo for the foresight to bring us here

Raelynn: And I even used my good lotions...

Craigh: And you've seen my acting.

Raelynn: Your acting has caused you to lose dinner, so it's quite good, I'd say!

Youtargim: This is the cleanest I have been since we left Dragon Fen

Youtargim: [CHECK] Charisma (vs. Target 14) [FAILURE by 2] [d20 = 16]

Indigo: You smell good!

Youtargim: Thanks

Youtargim: I was trying to mix some things I found

Zayden: He does smell good!

Zayden: not as good as Rae but still

Youtargim: Well it is very hard to be nicer than Rae

Zayden: Sounds like a good title to a song!

Youtargim: So Zayden and Craigh, let us do a bit of relaxing on our own before we get too involved with entertainment this evening

Zayden: Sounds good Yout, it is nice to have a nap before showtime

Raelynn: Um, I think you're going out on the town, not up stairs to nap. You can nap plenty when we sail again.

Zayden: that's fine too

So for your first evening in town

Indigo spends 3 gp for his night on the town. Howard spends 2 gp.

Indigo: [SKILL] Gaming [MOD:CHA] (vs. Target 10) [FAILURE by 2] [d20 = 12]

Indigo: [SKILL] Swimming [MOD:STR] (vs. Target 17) [SUCCESS by 16] [d20 = 1]

Indigo: You were the life of the party, although you drank to much and have no memory of what occurred the people around can't remember having a better evening. You gained [3 XP]. [POSTIVE OUTCOME] [d100 = 86]

Indigo: What a great night! Double your XP gained from Carousing! [3d10 = 18]

Howard Plum: [SKILL] Whistling/Humming [MOD:DEX] (vs. Target 14) [SUCCESS by 9] [d20 = 5]

Howard Plum: [SKILL] Statecraft [MOD:CHA] (vs. Target 8) [FAILURE by 8] [d20 = 16]

Howard Plum: You gained [2 XP]. You are not quite sure what happened but this morning the guards are out in full force. You heard they are looking for someone that matches your description but is wearing a dress. [d100 = 55]

Craigh spends 2 gp for his night on the town.

Craigh: [SKILL] Information Gathering [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 15) [FAILURE by 3] [d20 = 18]

Craigh: Your night did not go as planned, unfortunately you gain [0 XP] and there is a consequence from your devilish behaviour. [CONSEQUENCE] [d100 = 15]

Craigh: You wake up in a bed. You are 22 gp poorer. Within the hour, 300 freshly baked meat pies are delivered to the door of the room you are in.

So Indigo and Howard did decent, small XP gain for the fun they had, Craigh lost 22 gold in his largess for a cute pie maker

Licornah spends no gold and tries to have a peaceful night in the woods.

Licornah: Your night did not go as planned, unfortunately you gain [0 XP] and there is a consequence from your devilish behaviour.

Licornah: You gained [0 XP]. You have awakened in a tree. All of your clothing is neatly folded at the foot of the tree. This particular tree is in the center of town and the town square happens to be remarkably busy this cool crisp morning.

Actually just outside of town …

Raelynn spends 3 gp for her night on the town.

Raelynn: [SKILL] Dancing [MOD:CHA] (vs. Target 16) [SUCCESS by 10] [d20 = 6]

Raelynn: Your night did not go as planned, unfortunately you gain [0 XP] and there is a consequence from your devilish behaviour.

Raelynn: You manage to start a fire in your drunken idiocy. you burn down a large portion of the town. If she, due to their high Charisma, gets this result and did not 'Make it Rain' then it was a small fire but it caused considerable damage 16* 100 gp. If they do not have enough to cover repairs they are now in debt [3d10+205 = 225]

More details on this fire later in our story …

Zayden spends 2gp for his night on the town.

Zayden: [SKILL] Fast-Talking [MOD:CHA] (vs. Target 16) [SUCCESS by 2] [d20 = 14]

Zayden: [SKILL] Information Gathering [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 10) [SUCCESS by 3] [d20 = 7]

Zayden: [SKILL] Persuasion [MOD:CHA] (vs. Target 16) [SUCCESS by 12] [d20 = 4]

Zayden: You gained [2 XP]. You are not quite sure what happened but this morning the guards are out in full force. You heard they are looking for someone that matches your description but is wearing a dress.

Youtargim: [SKILL] Whistling/Humming [MOD:DEX] (vs. Target 16) [SUCCESS by 4] [d20 = 12]

Youtargim: You managed to let off some steam in your night of drunken debauchery. You gained [10 XP] but have no memory of what occurred. You did have however find a pair of man's underpants in your back pocket.

And now Raelynn goes on her date with the multi-lingual Lord Olgorith.

Elf : [Translation] Hello there

Elf : [Translation] I am looking forward to hearing your stories about traveling outside of the Wildlands

Raelynn : [Translation] Hello!

Raelynn : [Translation] You showed up!

Elf : [Translation] Of a certainty

Elf : [Translation] A new mystery is always interesting to explore

Raelynn : [Translation] Mmm, and what other mysteries have you explored?

Elf, Lord Olgorith : [Translation] I try to find interesting ones

Raelynn : [Translation] Do you find them often here? How long have you even been here? And why?

Raelynn : [Translation] It's... a small place.

Elf, Lord Olgorith : [Translation] I like to take my time to explore and learn more

Elf, Lord Olgorith : [Translation] I am on a journey upriver, I plan on visiting the temples near Loosend

Raelynn : [Translation] Oh! That's where I've been living the past number of years! Umm, until recently. My temple is there!

Elf, Lord Olgorith : [Translation] That is a wonderful coincidence

Elf, Lord Olgorith : [Translation] I would like to hear your stories about the place

Elf, Lord Olgorith : [Translation] I am taking a present for them,

Raelynn : [Translation] You should visit Hanali's Temple. It's very beautiful.

Raelynn : [Translation] Oh?

Elf, Lord Olgorith : [Translation] She is influential in providing guidance in relationships I hear

Raelynn : [Translation] Very much!

Elf, Lord Olgorith : [Translation] Do you have those skills too?

Raelynn : [Translation] Of course! I plan to open a tea shop when I return to Dragon Fen to help others. But I have to find my own myself. It's Hanali's present to us.

Elf, Lord Olgorith : [Translation] Your own relationship? a relation... shop if you will

Raelynn: laughs

Raelynn : [Translation] Oh, I like that.

Elf, Lord Olgorith : [Translation] Warm smiles and Kisses her hand

Raelynn: smiles back

Raelynn : [Translation] So where were we going to go?

Elf, Lord Olgorith : [Translation] I would like to enjoy a walk in the fields to the northwest of town

Elf, Lord Olgorith : [Translation] among the gardens and trails

Raelynn : [Translation] That sounds lovely.

Elf, Lord Olgorith : [Translation] If you would like more of a lively crowd we could find one

Raelynn : [Translation] I've been cooped up on a ship with people far too long. I'm fine with a quiet walk.

Elf, Lord Olgorith : [Translation] I ma very happy to be alone with you

Lord Olgorith escorts Rae out through the town center and into the Hin neighborhoods to the NW part of Bywater

Raelynn: wraps her hand around his arm

Elf, Lord Olgorith: Stopping at the gardens to observe the flowers and small plots

Raelynn : [Translation] Those are beautiful flowers. I'm surprised they can grow some this time of year.

Elf, Lord Olgorith : [Translation] Winter is normally mild this far south in Gold Hills

Rae and Lord Olgorth are walking and enjoying each other's company. They wander through lanes, trespass into a few gardens, and then startle a large guard dog who starts to chase them. The two of them quickly charm it but the owner who is running after stumbles and trips, spilling his lantern, the oil; splashing on a nearby haystack. The old dry hay lights on fire quickly and spreads to the nearby barn

So Rae casts and attempts to direct the flames upward

But no, the fire uses the arc of the wood to spread away from the barn and into the fields

The alarm goes up, farmers and households run out to assist

The two elves help with carrying water

and using rakes and such to clear a fire break

Meanwhile, Licornah does get out to the edge of town, relaxing and being part of nature, climbing trees again in the moonlight for the first time is so long, etc.

Licornah will soak up the moonlight and converse with any creatures that wander by

And now back to the Inn where Zayden is scheduled to perform.

Craigh: You want my advice on playing in an Inn?

Zayden: well not advice, more like if you got any ways to prime the crowd? Maybe a comedy routine?

Craigh: A song or poem about Indigo's actions might be good.

Zayden: that sounds nice

Craigh: Sorry, not a comedian. And... juggling is not my forte.

Howard Plum: I don't have any real artistic talent

Zayden: That's cool, you guys could be plants. Like cheer at the appropriate time, get the claps going, that kind of thing

Craigh: I could probably recite a soliloquy from a play, but I don't see how that would warm up the audience for you.

Craigh: Craigh claps both hands together in practice.

Craigh: *whiff*

Howard Plum: We will cheer enthusiastically

Craigh: *whiff*

Zayden: if you'd like to tell a poem of soliloquy before the show that'd be great

Zayden: sounds good

Craigh: *whiff*

Zayden: but the poem isn't necessary, only if you'd like to

Craigh: I never could get the hang of this clapping thing.

Craigh: *whiff*

Halfling, Inn Keeper: Welcome everyone!

Halfling, Inn Keeper: I am glad you were able to make it tonight,

Halfling, Inn Keeper: we have a special guest

Halfling, Inn Keeper: Zayden the Fisherman

Halfling, Inn Keeper: They say he is always fishing for compliments,

Halfling, Inn Keeper: pauses for the laughter

Halfling, Inn Keeper: But he always gets his catch!

Halfling, Inn Keeper: Glad to have you all here

Craigh: laughs

Craigh: [SKILL] Acting [MOD:CHA] (vs. Target 10) [FAILURE by 4] [d20 = 14]

Halfling, Inn Keeper: Remember the more ale the funnier he is!

Halfling, Inn Keeper: Take it away Zayden!

Zayden: Cheers ladies and Gentleman!

Zayden: Let's get this show started what do you say?!

Craigh: Woo!

Polite clapping from the small audience, about 12 Hin, 3 gnomes, and 5 humans

Zayden: [SKILL] Musical Instrument [MOD:DEX] (vs. Target 11) [FAILURE by 8] [d20 = 19]

Zayden: [SKILL] Singing [MOD:CHA] (vs. Target 16) [SUCCESS by 7] [d20 = 9]

Howard Plum: claps and cheers

Craigh: cheers

Zayden: 'It's hard to smell as Good as Rae'

Zayden: How she does is none can say!

Zayden: You could try your hand

Zayden: but you may draw her ire

Zayden: Next thing you know

Zayden: you'll be in a fire!

Indigo: claps

Zayden: So be careful of that day

Craigh: *whiff*

Zayden: When Rae comes your way

Zayden: and most importantly

Zayden: watch what you say

Zayden: Thank you!

Howard Plum: claps and whistles

So the first set was a moderate success, the crowd seems to wince a bit at the off key music but the lyrical poetry they can get behind

Zayden: solo time!

Zayden: [SKILL] Musical Instrument [MOD:DEX] (vs. Target 11) [SUCCESS by 8] [d20 = 3]

Zayden: [SKILL] Singing [MOD:CHA] (vs. Target 16) [FAILURE by 1] [d20 = 17]

Zayden: Next round on me!

and we jump back out to Licornah and the night

Lorie (Licornah): :: meditating, giving thanks, minding her business ::

Licornah is in her tree, there are a couple of birds, and a small group of bats

a squirrel's nest in a hollow

The bats squeak about where the owl is

the squirrels hide deep in the trunk

There are flames off to the west, that light the sky for a short while

Lorie (Licornah): :: smiles as they chatter away and pauses to look at the light in the distance ::

but they die down fairly quickly

There was a large group of elves that came through five or so sleeps ago, the birds say, they were coming back from the west and moving to the far off woods in the Northeast

The bats noticed that several of the people (hin) watched the elves go quietly through their lands as if nothing was wrong

Licornah: :: nodding ::

Quietly enjoying the singing as they traveled

Spring is becoming in full bloom, the new year is less than two weeks away

the fields are being planted, dry straw from the winter is being spread out to help fertilize the fields

Soon the entire countryside will be blooming and everyone will be planting

Lorie (Licornah): :: smiles for the thought of planting and spring ::

AND now back to Zayden and the group

Better music, not quite as good song stylings

Zayden: Here's an old one my pa used to tell at the most inappropriate times

and now that is it later in the evening a sooty, dirty, smoky Rae reappears in the inn also at the end of this set

Zayden: There once was a man from Devizes Whose balls were of differing sizes One was so small you couldn't see it at all The other so big it won prizes.

Hesitant clapping

Zayden: But it did lighten the mood

Zayden: lets take a moment to appreciate our drink, and the fine inn keeper who provideth

Zayden: Fill full your cups: feel no distress; That thoughts so great should now be less! Earth mid the sky stood firm and flat, He held, till came; A sage by name; Copernicus, and righted that. We trod, he told, A globe that rolled; Around a sun it warmed it at

Raelynn : [Translation] I need another bath...

Zayden: musical interlude

Rae comes into the inn

Raelynn: sees the crowd and promptly heads to her room

Youtargim: Looks up and concern crosses his face

Youtargim: Follows Rae quickly to the back of the room

Youtargim: Are you ok?

Raelynn: Oh, I'm fine. I'm fine! Everything is FINE.

Raelynn: Just fine. Just.. Ugh, I'm taking a bath and going to bed.

Zayden: What did I say when Rae comes your way?

Youtargim: I ... ok... Well I can help with what you need. You missed dinner, do you want me to bring up something for you?

Raelynn: I... suppose I hate sleeping on an empty stomach.

Raelynn: sighs

Raelynn: Thank you.

Raelynn: Just something simple. I don't think I can stomach much else.

Youtargim: Smiles, go get in the bath, I will ask them to heat the water for you

Youtargim: and bread, with butter and jam

Youtargim: It is quite good here

Youtargim: Gestures to the barmaid

Raelynn: nods and gives a small smile before heading for her bath

Youtargim: and quietly orders a fresh batch

Youtargim: and a new bath

Back to the entertainment

Licornah spends the rest of the evening with the owls, bats and other animals chattering and enjoying the moonlight

SO in the morning Licornah slips down from her tree, minus her clothing that has fallen at the base of the tree

With none of the local people seeming to notice the bare elf walking in their fields

Licornah gathers herself and returns back to the inn

the rest of the group wakes refreshed and clean (again)

The date is See____tre, 18th Man (Early Spring), 358 SKR

Young Moon's phase is New Moon

Old Moon's phase is Evening Crescent

The time is 6:00 AM

Halfling, Inn Keeper: Breakfast is on the side tables good people

Craigh: Thank you.

Licornah: :: smiles :: Thanks so much, you're kind

Raelynn: How did your concert go, Zayden?

Zayden: eh, not my best

Zayden: but I suppose not my worst either

Raelynn: Maybe you just needed a good meal and a good rest.

Indigo: sits down with a heaping plate of food

Zayden: Good advice!

Indigo: I thought you did good Zayden

Zayden: Thanks Indigo, as long as somebody enjoys themselves then I suppose it's worth it

Indigo: Lots of people did!

Zayden: Thank you, perhaps I’m being too hard on myself

Craigh: A common problem for performers.

Raelynn: We are always our worst critics.

Craigh: So easy to see your own flaws and overlook your strengths.

Raelynn: If you sing again tonight, Zayden, perhaps I can join you. Maybe a duet would go over better?

Craigh: But it drives you to always do better, I suppose.

Zayden: That would be amazing Rae

Zayden: But it's true, perfectionism can be a cruel pursuit

Zayden: and it also drives us to get better

Raelynn: Very true.

Zayden: And how was your evening Rae?

Craigh: hears an echo

Raelynn: It was ...eventful. That's all I'll say.

Zayden: Fair fair, but always glad to have you back safe and sound either way

Raelynn: Thank you.

Raelynn: smiles

The group decided to stay in Bywater long enough to get a new anchor for the knarr at a cost of 150 gp with a 3-day installation.
