The group rows out into the Big Water and then rowing/sailing upstream towards Dryads Lair

Bixi Fizzlebang: Talwin, you have a second?

Bixi Fizzlebang: Talwin!

Talwin: What!?

Bixi Fizzlebang: I'm trying to give you a present, gods! I felt bad that we were sniping at each other so much at the end of the trip there, so I got something for you

Bixi Fizzlebang: hands Talwin the nice, but small box

Talwin: Thank you Bixi, that was very kind of you

Talwin: Puzzled

Talwin: You didn't need to get me anything

Bixi Fizzlebang: I wanted to, friend. I wanted to.

Talwin: Smiles warmly

Talwin: Gently opens

Talwin: [SAVE] vs. Breath [d20 = 15]

Save [15] [Target 9] -> [for Talwin] [SUCCESS]

Talwin: Nods once. Dumps the rest on the deck.

Raelynn: Don't dump it on the deck!!

Michael (Talwin): It's glitter, I don’t' want it

Michael (Talwin): You should all have to suffer

Raelynn: Yes but now it'll get EVERYWHERE including on you! AGAIN!

Talwin: Ah but Raelynn, now Bixi is also your problem too

Raelynn: sighs

Raelynn: At least your sword looks better.

Talwin: For now on, I'll make sure that when her actions affect me, it also affects everyone else

Craigh: [SKILL] Cantrip [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 13) [FAILURE by 5] [d20 = 18]

Talwin: Well done Bixi

Raelynn: And she did say she couldn't promise not to get it everywhere...

Talwin: Walks away

Youtargim: Laughs

Reven / Lipthink (giant sword) to Talwin: Do I look better now?

Talwin to Reven / Lipthink (giant sword): Honestly, or do you wish for me to lie?

Reven / Lipthink (giant sword) to Talwin: I would never ask you to lie

Talwin to Reven / Lipthink (giant sword): Then no

Raelynn: Oh well... hopefully it's bio-degradable?

Youtargim: I do wish you had done that before getting on the ship Bixi

Talwin: No no, I'm glad she did

Raelynn: Will this affect our security deposit?

Reven / Lipthink (giant sword) to Talwin: Can we murder the little one now?

Youtargim: But I suppose that you and Rae can make it into something more..... attractive

Craigh: Well, on the plus side, it'll be easy to tell which way the wind is blowing

Bixi Fizzlebang: Our ship looks beautiful!

Raelynn: Oh, we do that just by being on the ship!

Youtargim: This is true

Bixi Fizzlebang: rolls eyes

Talwin to Reven / Lipthink (giant sword): Murder? No. But I'm not going to tolerate her anymore

Raelynn: smiles

Youtargim: I wonder what our newest crew member thinks of such antics?

Raelynn: If only you had a wind spell to wipe it all off or make a glittering breeze or something.

Youtargim: Or a good hard rain

Raelynn: Them Zayden will just fish up glittering fish.

Youtargim: I think we can leave it behind

Raelynn: Well, let's not let it all go to waste. I bet I can put some of this into a lotion or something...

Daphene: Um, I think that will make a great story!

Raelynn: gets a small bag and sweeps up what glitter she can

Youtargim: Do you tell lots of stories too..... Daphene?

Youtargim: Indigo, you and Howard have been in these waters before?

Youtargim: are we to that point yet?

Youtargim: What do you know about Borts Beach? Howard said it was the right place to land

Indigo: We've never been to Bort's Beach but this part we've sailed before

Indigo: It's going to be closer to the lighthouse that Talwin wants to go to

Youtargim: That is good

Youtargim: Did you see anything in these waters different than we have seen so far?

Howard Plum: I am interested in the artifacts that are advertised at the inn

Raelynn: Artifacts?

Indigo: Less dark stuff

Howard Plum: Supposedly the owner was a great adventurer and the inn holds artifacts from his many adventures

Raelynn: And no one tries to steal them?

Youtargim: Hmmm, I do not remember Indigo's museum

Howard Plum: I don't know. Maybe they are protected

Youtargim: He is a great adventurer

Howard Plum: Or maybe people are scared to try to take them

Raelynn: That would make sense, I suppose.

Indigo: I don't collect stuff

Raelynn: I wonder what kind of adventurer...

Howard Plum: This gives us another thing to look forward to

Youtargim: What kind of adventurer collects stuff?

Raelynn: shrugs

Youtargim: Pirates collect stuff

Raelynn: All of them? We apparently have door hinges that no one will still tell me their purpose.

Youtargim: Who collects door hinges?

Indigo: We should take the hinges to hell

Raelynn: But to display them, I don't know. Some collect for themselves, some don't, and some like to remain quiet.

Indigo: Quick exit

Raelynn: Oooh would that work?

Indigo: They're magic so I guess so

Youtargim: Magical Door Hinges....

Youtargim: I thought I had heard of everything

Indigo: Think they make a door or something

Youtargim: Did you try them?

Indigo: No. We just have them

Youtargim: Laughs

Youtargim: How long have you had them?

Indigo: Maybe we should practice with them

Indigo: Uhhh ... since around the time I met Branwyn

Indigo: They're probably dusty

Youtargim: When was that?

Indigo: More than a decade ago?

Youtargim: I bet they need to be oiled if it has been that long

Indigo: laughs

Indigo: Probably

Raelynn: Would it need to be magic oil?

Indigo: I dunno

Youtargim: Bites his tongue

Craigh: Maybe because they're magic they're always oiled and silent?

Indigo: Magic items likely need a different sort of care than ordinary door hinges

Bixi Fizzlebang: I would think if you had a house you'd want to put things in it. I'm hoping to build a house when we get back, somewhere nearby the inn maybe, or who knows. And I will probably end up with a strange collection

Raelynn: Who specializes in magic door hinges? Hopefully they still work...

Howard Plum: We can try them when we get home

Youtargim: Oh you do not have them with you?

Daphene: Where would the magic door go?

Howard Plum: Oh no they are heavy

Raelynn: Well it's just hinges, no door right?

Indigo: That's the thing Daphene. We don't know

Indigo: Maybe Branwyn can do her identify thing on them now it's easy for her

Daphene: It could go anywhere! Why haven't you tried them yet!?

Daphene: So many possibilities!

Indigo: shrugs

Bixi Fizzlebang: And if we had it here, we could take glitter into the unknown!

Indigo: We always seem to have something else to do

Raelynn: Ummm, let's not do that.

Raelynn: We don't need to anger some extraplanar being with glitter.

Bixi Fizzlebang: Maybe they like glitter

Youtargim: I think opening a door on the ship might be a not good thing

Bixi Fizzlebang: Ok, that's a fair point, Yout

Raelynn: Like opening a box of glitter might... not have been a good thing.

Bixi Fizzlebang: But look how sparkly everything is now!

Youtargim: I did not do that at least

Raelynn: No but you have some glitter on you.

Youtargim: Nor did I purchase such a box

Bixi Fizzlebang: And you knew it was going to happen! You should have said something if you didn't like glitter!

Youtargim: I think that we will all have glitter in our poop

Raelynn: I think the first lotion I make from this extra glitter can be yours, Bixi.

Bixi Fizzlebang: ew

Bixi Fizzlebang: Oooooooh, thanks Rae!

Raelynn: Well that's... a thought.

Raelynn: I know, but I thought you'd do it in town, not on the ship.

Youtargim: I bet that is what happens to those people that Howard casts on

Youtargim: They get it in their nose and mouth and everywhere

Youtargim: and then just

Youtargim: it has to go somewhere right Howard?

Raelynn: Happier, less messy thoughts, please, Yout.

Youtargim: The glitter does make your cheeks sparkle

Howard Plum: wrinkles his nose

Raelynn: It is good for makeup in the right amounts.

Howard Plum: I do not think of those things

So the group is a couple of hours out onto the water now

Craigh: Do you ever get tired of just seeing nothing out there all day?

Bixi Fizzlebang: no

Indigo: It's not completely nothing

Craigh: Water. Water. More water. And some sky.

Indigo: Look! There's a bird!

Indigo: points

The time is 11:00 AM

The date is Fin____se, 28th Man (Early Spring), 358 SKR

Young Moon's phase is Last Quarter

Old Moon's phase is Waxing Gibbous

Craigh: Yep. Never seen one of those before.

Indigo: laughs

Indigo: That means there's land close by

Indigo: It's a good sign

Raelynn: Does it? Can't birds fly a long time?

Bixi Fizzlebang: I think it's nice and peaceful. Plus now we can see the glitter sparkling in the sunlight!

Indigo: Not a little one like that

Indigo: Maybe the birds that can pick you up and carry you away could ...

Bixi Fizzlebang: [CHECK] Intelligence (vs. Target 15) [FAILURE by 3] [d20 = 18]

Craigh: [CHECK] Intelligence (vs. Target 15) [FAILURE by 2] [d20 = 17]

Raelynn: [CHECK] Intelligence (vs. Target 13) [SUCCESS by 11] [d20 = 2]

Talwin: [CHECK] Intelligence (vs. Target 13) [SUCCESS by 3] [d20 = 10]

Daphene: [CHECK] Intelligence (vs. Target 11) [SUCCESS by 0] [d20 = 11]

It is the evening of the 28th so tomorrow is the First day of 359

Most of the group tries to have a good think while looking out at the bird and the water. Raelynn, Talwin and Daphene suddenly realize that tonight will be the end of the Year, tomorrow is New Years Day

Raelynn: Speaking of birds, are we doing anything for New Years Eve? Or just.... sailing?

Raelynn: This is NOT how I thought I'd spend New Years Eve.

Craigh: What does your New Years normally involve?

Talwin: We will have a proper celebration when we land, but I thought we could have a nice meal on the deck, tell stories, that sort of thing

Talwin: If anyone is interested

Talwin: of course

Daphene: A feast!

Raelynn: Dancing! Singing! Partying! Making out! More dancing!

Youtargim: Perks up

Talwin: Er, sure, whatever. I'm down for food at least

Raelynn: Oh, I'm sure food is important to some. Some do roasted birds, but I'd rather dance!

Raelynn: But on a boat? Who celebrates on a boat??

Indigo: Zayden can play for us

Talwin: We do, just for security Raelynn

Talwin: I promise we will have a informal celebration when we land

Talwin: or formal

Talwin: whichever you prefer

Talwin: Smiles

Talwin: All Sparkly

Raelynn: How far are we from a town?

Raelynn: It'll be not New Year's Eve by then!

Indigo: Don't think we're gonna see any for a while

Raelynn: Hmm, but you DO have a very nice smile, Talwin. Those extra sparkles suit you!

Bixi Fizzlebang: Yeah, you can't have a New Year's celebration on like, the fifth day of the new year. That doesn't make any sense

Raelynn: sighs

Raelynn: We should have stayed one more night.

Raelynn: At least the boat is decked out now.

Raelynn: Maybe you made a good purchase, Bixi.

Craigh: I think we celebrated enough in Bywater already

Talwin: We can have celebrations whenever we want. As knight of Branwyn’s Court I hereby decree that residents of the Protectorate can celebrate “Informal” New Years five days from the date of New Years

Talwin: I just created a new holiday. Deal with it

Raelynn: Well yes, but I missed SIX YEARS of celebrations, Craigh. Why miss another?

Talwin: And it shall be celebrated in Borts Beach

Talwin: And I shall pay for Drinks, but not spell decoders

Raelynn: Well at that point, I might as well just go to Dryads Lair and hit up my family to celebrate.

Raelynn: But only the ones I like.

Talwin: And may Branwny have mercy on my soul. I'm sure she loves Holidays

Youtargim: Do you like anyone in your family Rae?

Youtargim: You do not talk about them much

Raelynn: Of course! But I also dislike some of my family.

Raelynn: My mother is wonderful. I have a cousin or two that I like. The rest of my relatives I could do without.

Youtargim: I am glad you have family you like

Craigh: Are your family all as sociable as you?

Raelynn: Some of them are, but some of them were just very jealous of my mother and me, and they didn't handle it well, so I stopped talking to them.

Talwin: Sounds good. We'll have a good rousing time. But tonight, we'll have the best feast we can

Talwin: Smiles warmly

Talwin: It'll be good to celebrate the new year

Youtargim: I can imagine being jealous of the attention you gather

Raelynn: I'm going to hold you to that, Talwin.

Bixi Fizzlebang: Ooooh, I'll start cooking!

Youtargim: Bixi do you have any spells to create a feast?

Talwin: Nods Begrudgingly

Bixi Fizzlebang: [SKILL] Cooking [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 15) [SUCCESS by 14] [d20 = 1]

Talwin: Whatever you need, feel free to makes fair use of provisions. Please be judgmental in their use, we may have some rough seas ahead

Talwin: Damn Straight. Despite himself, feeling a chuckle at the back of his throat

Raelynn: Bixi doesn't need spells. She has skills!

Bixi Fizzlebang: Yeah, don't worry Talwin, I got this

Talwin: I'm sure you do. At least I wont need to dress up for the event. I'm already wearing my best apparently

Talwin: Grumbles unintelligibly

The group tries to be on alert and spot possible encounters.

Bixi Fizzlebang: [SKILL] Alertness [MOD:WIS] (vs. Target 14) [SUCCESS by 9] [d20 = 5]

Craigh: [SKILL] Alertness [MOD:WIS] (vs. Target 12) [FAILURE by 7] [d20 = 19]

Craigh: [SKILL] Observation [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 15) [SUCCESS by 10] [d20 = 5]

Talwin: [SKILL] Observation [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 13) [SUCCESS by 7] [d20 = 6]

Craigh and Talwin near the Bow of the ship spot a large flying figure. Bixi continues to focus on her cooking.

Talwin: What do you think Craigh?

Talwin: Hazard a guess?

Talwin: Calls out

Talwin: It Glitters!

Talwin: Battle stations!

Raelynn: What?

Talwin: Maybe it recognizes it's own kind. Bitterly

Craigh: squints and stares at it

Talwin: Glittery Flying thing Incoming!

Talwin: Assume Battle Stations

Craigh: [CHECK] Intelligence (vs. Target 15) [SUCCESS by 9] [d20 = 6]

Raelynn: What kind of giant glittery thing??

Craigh: Uhh.. not sure, but let's not initiate an attack, Captain

Indigo: Is it a big bird?

Daphene: Where's my battle station!?

Talwin: Wherever you feel best suited to your Talents Daphene

Craigh: No... I think it's a dragon. Silver, I hope.

Raelynn: Yes, please. Let's not anger things unintentionally!

Talwin: We're mercenaries at heart

Craigh: Not *supposed* to just attack for no reason.

Daphene: Oh my goodness, I KNEW I needed to be here! First day out and we're already finding a dragon!!!

Raelynn: Who is we?? I don't attack things just because!

Talwin: There is also a ship!

Raelynn: Maybe they're flying a glittery kite?

Craigh: Always possible. We've seen weirder things.

Indigo: Another ship isn't always a bad thing

Daphene: I once heard a story about a pet dragon that grants wishes. Maybe it will grant us wishes!

Craigh: Anyways... I think my battle station is over here by the hold entrance, just in case.

Indigo: Talwin look through the spy glass

Talwin: Nods gratefully

Talwin: Thanks

Talwin: Spyglass to eye, peers at the Sky

Talwin: Well. Uh. They are dead

Talwin: So, bad news

Talwin: The dragon just spewed what looks like Yellow Gas over the fishing boat ahead

Talwin: I wish I had Indigo’s advice. I'm not a naval man dammit

Craigh: That doesn't look good...

Talwin: Can we safely find trees or overhangs where we can wait out the attack?

Indigo: I've never seen a yellow dragon

Talwin: We can't outrun it, but we can be quiet and hide as best we can?

Talwin: Surprised!

Talwin: Sorry Indigo

Talwin: I didn't see you there

Talwin: Thoughts?

Youtargim: A yellow dragon? I thought those only lived in deserts?

Talwin: I know nothing of dragons.

Indigo: It had yellow gas so ...

Talwin: Sheepishly

Indigo: What color dragon was it?

Talwin: Poison do you think? Or Acid?

Talwin: Silver, Glittery

Indigo: Huh ...

This is about a half mile upstream from you

Indigo: Was it a baby dragon or a full grown big one?

Raelynn: Maybe the fishing boat made it mad and if we don't make it mad it'll ignore us?

Talwin: [CHECK] Intelligence (vs. Target 13) [SUCCESS by 3] [d20 = 10]

Craigh: I will start hoping so really hard.

Talwin: Not sure

Talwin: I can't see too many details, even with the Glass

Indigo: Maybe it's a toll dragon

Talwin: I'm sorry

Talwin: Toll dragon?

Talwin: I'd say it's smaller or about the same size as the Boat it it attacking

Indigo: We should hurry up and maybe it will have blown all its gas by the time we get there

Craigh: Shouldn't we go slower then?

Indigo: We talked about toll dragons. They want something to let people pass

Raelynn: Maybe this one will want glitter?

Indigo: [CHECK] Intelligence (vs. Target 11) [FAILURE by 1] [d20 = 12]

Howard Plum: [CHECK] Intelligence (vs. Target 12) [FAILURE by 1] [d20 = 13]

Daphene: Maybe we need to share the feast?

Talwin: Nods

Howard Plum: Dragons can usually only blast 2-3 times

Talwin: If that is what is required. I will inform Bixi to use up more provisions. Something we can store if necessary?

Howard Plum: The longer they rest the more time they have to recharge

Talwin: It can't hurt Indigo right?

Talwin: I hate to admit it, but she can cook like a wizard

Talwin: We can also give a glitter box

Talwin: Smiles again

Talwin: It is nice Daphene, but my crew matters more

Talwin: There are always more boxes

Indigo: Keep watching to see what it does Talwin

As Talwin watches

Talwin: Nods

Talwin: Indigo, would you mind taking a peek? You are more used to this wonder device then me

Talwin: Gently holds the Glass out

Indigo: Sure

Talwin: Thank you.

Talwin: Nervously, despite putting on a brave face for the crew

Indigo: takes the glass and looks at the ship first

Indigo: [SKILL] Shipwright [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 9) [FAILURE by 8] [d20 = 17]

Indigo: [SKILL] Boating [MOD:WIS] (vs. Target 10) [FAILURE by 7] [d20 = 17]

Indigo: OHHHH ... that's two blasts from the dragon

Talwin: Runs to Bixi

Indigo: We should hurry up

Talwin: No time to explain Bixi. I need you to magic something large, like a tribute for a large flying Reptile that may want something to eat

Talwin: Out of Breath

Talwin: I know it's a lot

Talwin: CAN YOU DO IT?

Talwin: Pleading

Indigo: Our New Years feast?

Indigo: looks sad

Bixi Fizzlebang: Um... yes but... once it tries to eat it it will probably know it's not real?

Talwin: Confused

Talwin: Oh sorry. I meant the real thing. I will pay out of pocket for the biggest feast I can when we land

Talwin: Better hungry then Dead

Talwin: Although a single tear runs down his face

Bixi Fizzlebang: Wait what... now I'm confused

Indigo: If it runs out of gas it's just a big flying lizard

Talwin: At the thought of the mouthwatering feast being wasted on a lizard

Bixi Fizzlebang: You... want to give the feast to a lizard?

Talwin: It can follow us all day long. It flies

Talwin: Bixi there may be a toll dragon ahead. Can you do this or not?

Bixi Fizzlebang: Is this payback for the glitter? Because that's not a fair exchange

Indigo: Not if we kill it

Talwin: NO

Raelynn: Does it want food? What if it wants something else?

Talwin: Looks at Indigo

Bixi Fizzlebang: Is it going to tell us what it wants?

Indigo: If it's a toll dragon we can pay it

Talwin: I give up. I have no ideas. I'll go stand up on deck and wait to see what it wants

Bixi Fizzlebang: Or do we have to guess?

Bixi Fizzlebang: Don't dragons want shiny things? Gold or something?

Indigo: If it's an attack dragon then we attack it

Raelynn: looks at shiny Talwin

Indigo: The toll dragons I've seen have asked

Indigo: Wow!!

Indigo: It's flying away

Talwin: Really?

Craigh: still hoping over here

Talwin: Almost relieved

Indigo: It took two dead bodies and flew east

Talwin: Oh

Talwin: Huh

Indigo: Towards Dryads Lair direction?

Talwin: I think all the partying has made me forget how to be out here. Slap me Indigo

Indigo: We should check out the boat when we get there

Talwin: Nods

Indigo: frowns

Indigo: Not hitting you without a good reason

Indigo: grins

Talwin: grins back

Talwin: This is what civilization does to me

Talwin: laughs

Talwin: uptight about everything I swear

Daphene: I've heard of silver dragons, over to the west

Raelynn: [CHECK] Intelligence (vs. Target 13) [FAILURE by 4] [d20 = 17]

Indigo: Maybe the dragon had a personal problem with the fishermen

Daphene: They're supposed to have a lair near Undertowers

Talwin: [CHECK] Intelligence (vs. Target 13) [FAILURE by 2] [d20 = 15]

Craigh: [CHECK] Intelligence (vs. Target 15) [FAILURE by 1] [d20 = 16]

so sailing on you encounter a fishing boat adrift

that is coming downstream towards you

Indigo: Hey! Let's look at the boat

Talwin: Nods in agreement

Raelynn: Is it a boat or a ship?

Talwin: And tie it to our own. We are making bank on Ship sales

Indigo: That's a boat

Craigh: Should we check out the boat?

Talwin: Nods

Indigo: Can you lasso it?

Talwin: Let us prepare to bring on any survivors as well

Youtargim: Brings the Buttercup around to lay in next to the drifting boat

Youtargim: [SKILL] Seamanship [MOD:DEX] (vs. Target 15) [SUCCESS by 3] [d20 = 12]

Craigh: Hold on before we board

Lanek: [SKILL] Boating [MOD:WIS] (vs. Target 14) [SUCCESS by 1] [d20 = 13]

Craigh: checks to see if he can tell if any poisonous residue is left behind

Raelynn: Oh! I have a lasso.

Craigh: [SKILL] Observation [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 15) [SUCCESS by 13] [d20 = 2]

Craigh: [SKILL] Find/Remove Traps [PERCENT:Find/Remove Traps] (vs. Target 35) [FAILURE by 16] [d100 = 51]

Craigh: Gas. I don't know that it's safe. Unless someone can clear it away

Raelynn: If we had wind spells, we'd be in Dryads Lair by now...

Lanek: snickers

Talwin: Unless it's penetrated the upper deck, I think it should be fine

Talwin: We're on a river and the wind is constant

Craigh: Right. Tow the boat along with us a while then?

Talwin: I'm fine with that

Lanek: mutters “gas” and “wind”

Daphene: [SKILL] Weather Sense [MOD:WIS] (vs. Target 8) [FAILURE by 12] [d20 = 20]

Indigo: I don't see any gas

Indigo: [CHECK] Intelligence (vs. Target 11) [SUCCESS by 10] [d20 = 1]

Raelynn: [CHECK] Intelligence (vs. Target 13) [FAILURE by 4] [d20 = 17]

Indigo: You know I don't think silver dragons blow gas

Indigo: And they don't live in Dryads Lair now I'm thinking about it

Indigo: Silver dragons, like Daphene said are more a Gold Hills area thing

Raelynn: So what lives here?

Indigo: I think they blow icy frost stuff so ...

Talwin: So...ideas?

Indigo: It was a green dragon DISGUISED as a silver dragon!!

Raelynn: The one that flew past?

Craigh: Maybe it was a dragon that shopped at the same place Bixi did?

Raelynn: Why would it do that?

Indigo: To start a dragon war?

Raelynn: But we talked to one before so can't we talk to this one?

Indigo: It flew away with the dead bodies

Raelynn: Oh, so it might not even bother us?

Indigo: Nah! It's gone

Raelynn: Oh good. Well, not for them. I can perform what rites can be done without a body... at least send them a prayer.

Craigh: [ATTACK (M)] Lasso, called shot to Head [THACO(17)] [AC: 12 ] [d20-2 = 5]

Craigh: [SKILL] Rope Use [MOD:DEX] (vs. Target 15) [FAILURE by 4] [d20 = 19]

Craigh: Sorry, I tried to tie the boat to us to pull along, but I can't quite get it.

Craigh: Anyone else give it a shot?

Daphene: Um, do you need a... erm... hand with that?

Raelynn: Not sure I can tie a good knot... just a normal one like for shoes.

Craigh: Craigh just looks at Daphene with one eyebrow raised.

Daphene: shuffles feet awkwardly

Daphene: I can try... I mean, I've never done it, but I'm always willing to try new things!

Craigh: Craigh nods to her and hands her the rope.

Indigo: I think she meant she was a ranger so she does rangery type stuff

Daphene throws out the rope and snags the boat, Lanek jumps over quickly and secures it

Lanek: [SKILL] Boating [MOD:WIS] (vs. Target 14) [SUCCESS by 10] [d20 = 4]

so the two of them secure the boat to the rear of the Buttercup

Lanek: [SAVE] vs. Breath [d20 = 16]

Save [16] [Target 16] -> [for Lanek] [SUCCESS]

so he gets a good strong whiff of the chlorine gas that has coated the boat's surface

Lanek: aw, man!

but he is not adversely affected

Lanek: covers his nose and mouth

Lanek: this is foul over here, hard to breathe

Indigo: You okay?

Lanek: coughs

Lanek: it's not killin' me yet but it's tryin'

Lanek: yeah we got prolly two folks over here in pieces

Talwin: Winces

Talwin: Sigh. I don't like it, but their bodies may become inconvenient

Talwin: Burial at River

Craigh: Are we able to tow it?

Lanek: nods

Craigh: Or is it too big?

Talwin: Turns to Indigo

Youtargim: We can handle it

Indigo: They will attract things that want to eat them

Talwin: Admiral?

Youtargim: The Buttercup is strong

Lanek: prolly need to rinse the deck before anybody else comes over

Indigo: We can tow it

Talwin: We could leave the deck the way it is for now. It might convince lesser beings to stay away

Youtargim: What is its name? any markings Lanek?

Lanek: hey, don't somebody have like a watery knuckles spell or somethin like that? hand? foot? maybe they can splash the whole thing with that?

Lanek: looks around for markings

Youtargim: That was Bixi Lanek, she is busy but we can ask her later

Indigo: Water elbows!

Lanek: could be, could be

Indigo: Anything good down there?

Lanek: oh here found it

Lanek: looks like .... uh cow?

Lanek: but it's upside down

Indigo: Cow boat?

Lanek: dead cow? tits-up cow?

Raelynn: Ground beef?

Lanek: snickers

Indigo: upside down so moc?

Youtargim: Dead Cow is certainly a name

Youtargim: Huh, that is interesting Indigo

Youtargim: Moc.... weird but not that strange

Craigh: Dead Cow is the name on the boat? The fishing boat?

The time is 5:00 PM

Talwin: I mean, I wouldn't eat Chlorinated anything unless it's a micro drop into a gallon of water

Youtargim: You said they were human Lanek?

Lanek: well, it's kinda hard to tell from the pieces ....

Lanek: squints at the bodies to try to add up the volume/mass of the parts minus whatever got ate

Lanek: rather, plus whatever got ate

Lanek: mostly human sized, looks like

Lanek: not small enough for halfling or large enough for bugbear. half elf?

Raelynn: grimaces

So you manage to bring the boat into towing position

It still stinks

You consign the bodies to the water

Rae has a small ceremony

Youtargim tosses two small gems into the water after them

Lisa (Indigo): anything good on the boat?

Talwin: A moment of Silence

No magic items, just normal fishing gear, adventuring gear

you pull over to the port side bank of the river to anchor for the evening, staying away from the shore enough

and so without further ado, Bixi brings up a large roast

along with many other dishes

And the New Years celebration begins!

Raelynn: [SKILL] Artistic Ability [MOD:WIS] (vs. Target 16) [SUCCESS by 5] [d20 = 11]

Raelynn: [SKILL] Dancing [MOD:CHA] (vs. Target 16) [SUCCESS by 6] [d20 = 10]

Raelynn: [SKILL] Singing [MOD:CHA] (vs. Target 16) [SUCCESS by 10] [d20 = 6]

Lanek: [SKILL] Musical Instrument [MOD:DEX] (vs. Target 16) [SUCCESS by 0] [d20 = 16]

Carissa (Raelynn): oh and New Years fortune chart reading for whoever wants one

Raelynn: [SKILL] Astrology [2] [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 13) [FAILURE by 1] [d20 = 14]

Youtargim: [SKILL] Whistling/Humming [MOD:DEX] (vs. Target 16) [SUCCESS by 6] [d20 = 10]

So between Youtargim, Lanek and Raelynn there is entertainment

Craigh: I'll take a reading.

Raelynn: Oh! Sure! Now if we take your birth date and year... um.. write them right here please.

Craigh: Craigh writes them down

Raelynn: So let's see...

Raelynn: looks at her little book of notes and her charts

Raelynn: Hmmm....

Raelynn: Are you sure that's when you were born?

Craigh: Far as I know

Raelynn: Okay okay so if I carry the one...

Raelynn: It looks like, um... you're going to meet someone very interesting soon. But I can't tell if you'll mesh or not.

Craigh: Haven't met many boring ones lately.

Craigh: Craigh smiles

Raelynn: smiles back

Daphene: Maybe it's me!

Raelynn: Maybe I can get a clearer picture in a few days if you want to try again then?

Daphene: Can I have a reading too!?

Craigh: Craigh nods.

Craigh: Craigh moves to make space for her.

Raelynn: See what goes into retrograde this time of year...

Raelynn: Um, sure. I did make a habit of doing this other New Years Even. Although usually before drinking...

Raelynn: [SKILL] Astrology [2] [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 13) [SUCCESS by 11] [d20 = 2]

Raelynn: Now these are your birth date and time, yes?

Daphene: nods enthusiastically

Raelynn: Oh! I see great adventure in the next few weeks for you, Daphene!

Raelynn: A bit of a scuffle here, but nothing to worry about!

Raelynn: Hmm oh and this might mean a decision to make, but it might just be a minor one. Guess we'll see soon!

Daphene: That's um... vague, but exciting! Thank you!

Raelynn: smiles

Raelynn: If you have a specific question next time, those are easier for me to answer.

Raelynn: Like who you're compatible with. Those are my favorites.

Daphene: Ohhhh, I DO want to know about that!

Youtargim: I will take the first watch with you Rae so you can read mine

Raelynn: I don't mind first watch, but I don't know how that'll work out for you.

Bixi Fizzlebang: Oh gosh, I'm so tired from all that cooking, I think I'll go to sleep now... just wake me whenever you need me

The time is 11:00 PM

First Watch – Raelynn and Youtargim

Youtargim: Sits with Rae up at the ships wheel

Youtargim: Holds out his hand palm up in her lap

Raelynn: No, silly. I do astrology, and I don't think it'll work on you.

Youtargim: What doesn't work? I have been told I have good lines and strong hands

Raelynn: Well depending what you ask.

Raelynn: Do you want to just know how the next few days or weeks will go? Or did you just get interested when Daphene and I talked about capability?

Youtargim: Well I like to think I am capable

Youtargim: You did mention dancing, kissing, eating, dancing

Raelynn: Yes, but if we're talking fortunes, I can't do them on anyone who's interested in me. Hanali doesn't let me.

Youtargim: So someone would just have to take their chances then

Raelynn: The old fashion way of just finding out without reading the future.

Youtargim: Smiles

Youtargim: The unknown country

Youtargim: Takes up her hand, kisses the back of it, and then pulls her up to stand

Raelynn: smiles

Youtargim: Takes her hand, rests it on his shoulder, set his chin over her head to tuck her onto his chest

Youtargim: slowly spins around humming

Raelynn: [SKILL] Dancing [MOD:CHA] (vs. Target 16) [SUCCESS by 10] [d20 = 6]

Youtargim: and keeping an eye on the water

Raelynn: You've been waiting for this dance.

Youtargim: I have been

Youtargim: I thought you liked being patient

Raelynn: I like being wooed. And... not setting things on fire, but this... this is nice.

Raelynn: sighs happily

Youtargim: slight squeeze

The date is Trall____, 1st Din (Spring), 359 SKR

The time is 12:00 AM

Youtargim: Umm,

Youtargim: takes her by the chin,

Youtargim: Happy New Year

Youtargim: a soft quick kiss

Raelynn: kisses him back

Youtargim: then a wink we need to wake... hmmmmm

Raelynn: Happy New Year.

Youtargim: Thank you

Raelynn: smiles

Youtargim: sets her down

Raelynn: Not quite the way I thought the New Year would go, but thank you, too.

Youtargim: I will go wake ummm

Youtargim: Lanek

Youtargim: that is right

Youtargim: Shakes his head

Raelynn: Mmhmm. Daphene and Lanek. I'll get the new girl.

Youtargim: Walks over to Lanek Time to get up old man

Youtargim: grins

Youtargim: hands him a wine flask, happy new year

Raelynn: Daphene, it's time for watches.

Raelynn: gently wakes her

Lanek: grumph

Lanek: yah, okay

Daphene: bounces up

Lanek: gulps

Lanek: thanks

Daphene: Yes! I will watch everything so good!

Youtargim: Nods,

Raelynn: Oh! Um, yes. Good luck!

Raelynn: If only I had that energy...

Youtargim: leans in to whisper, find out what you can about the new girl

Raelynn: quietly wishes Lanek luck

Lanek: grumph humph

Youtargim: Then steps off down towards the bow of the ship with Rae

Youtargim: whispers to Raelynn, “Thank you, I do want to hear what you would like a normal New Years to be like.... maybe next year we can”

Raelynn: Oh, I'll have plenty of ideas by then. But no ships. Or boats.

Youtargim: whispers to Raelynn, “Soft chuckle, we can try that too”

Youtargim: Youtargim settles down against the hull to laydown and sleep

Second Watch – Lanek and Daphene

Lanek: wouldja believe that pissant wants me to give ya the third degree?

Daphene: I... um... the what?

Lanek: yer bizness iz yer own bizness. want some of this wine?

Daphene: Yes please!

Daphene: So... um... I guess you... want to keep your business to yourself?

Lanek: hands over the flask

Lanek: I caint drink too much of that on watch, makes me sleepy

Lanek: well yeah! don't most people want privacy?

Lanek: well then again, this crew, kinda livin up each other's butt

Daphene: Sure, for some things. But don't you want to know a little about the people you are traveling with?

Lanek: but they mean well I guess

Lanek: people show you who they are, so you watch em and see

Daphene: Ohhhh, that's so wise!

Lanek: snorts

Lanek: that's a first, but thank ya

Daphene: I bet you could teach me so many things!

Lanek: them was some good eats tonight

Daphene: Yes! I didn't know the Story Teller was also such a talented cook!

Lanek: and I didn't do too bad on the flute this time

Daphene: It was great! What a wonderful first night for an adventure

Daphene: What do you think we'll be doing next?

Lanek: I hadn't touched it in somethin like 30 years, so it's takin' a while knockin the rust off

Lanek: welp

Lanek: welp, within the next day or maybe two but prolly tomorra, we're gonna run into that dragon

Lanek: some of thems dealt with dragons before. I aint

Lanek: I dunno what kinda help I can be

Lanek: I am a master thief and no mistake, but this aint a hoard pilferin situation

Daphene: Oh goodness... I don't know that I can help with that either. Sounds like something for magic-ing types

Lanek: yeah maybe. or like Indigo. hard fightin and hard ta kill

Daphene: I can fight a little, but... I can't fly

Lanek: yeah me neither

Lanek: so I guess we keep our eyes peeled and look for opportunities

Daphene: nods

Daphene: If you see an opportunity that I don't, will you shout at me and let me know? I want to help

Lanek: well yeah, we kind of do like that anyway, but sure

Daphene: visibly relieved

Daphene: Don't tell anyone, but I'm a little nervous

Lanek: one good thing about this bunch is nobody thinks they run everthing. even though Branwyn prolly actually does. nobody lords it over everbody else

Lanek: people just kina figger it out

Daphene: That almost makes it worse!

Daphene: What if I can't pull my weight and no one wants me around?

Lanek: people want that snot nose brat we just talked to around, and he's a snot nose brat. and you aint. you'll be fine

Daphene: smiles

Daphene: Thanks Lanek!

Daphene: I can see why everyone likes having you around!

Lanek: well I dunno why anybody wants me around either

Daphene: It's because you're so wise, obviously!

Lanek: I’m a grouchy ass bastige

Lanek: and I don't like most people

Lanek: but see, if they want me, they will definitely want you

Lanek: you got nothin to worry about

Daphene: I'm sure you have very good reasons for not liking the people you don't like

Daphene: Should we wake the next watch?

Daphene: Is it time yet?

Lanek: looks like Indigo is up

Indigo: Good morning!

Lanek: wakes Craig

Craigh: groans

Craigh: Too much food...

Daphene: gently shakes Licornah

Lanek: you prolly better wake ... yeah

Lanek: alright it's all yours

Licornah: :: opens eyes :: Thank you...

Lanek: goes back to bed

Indigo: All quiet?

Indigo: Guess so

Indigo: smiles

Craigh: gets out of his bed.

Craigh: So, anything going on?

Indigo: Don't think so.

Daphene: Nothing but sage advice from a wise man

Daphene: Goodnight everyone

Indigo: Goodnight!

Third Watch – Licornah, Indigo and Craigh

The time is 3:00 AM

Craigh: We have wise men?

Craigh: Huh.

Craigh: Congrats

Indigo: Sure

Indigo: You're a wise man too

Craigh: Any thoughts on the dragon?

Craigh: Think it'll come back?

Indigo: At some point but we probably missed him

Indigo: If he carried two people back with home that was a meal maybe?

Indigo: He might have been mad that they didn't have any treasure

Craigh: Would he expect a fishing boat to have treasure? How smart are they?

Indigo: But if the dragon hunts these waters they should know by now that fishing boats don't have treasure

Indigo: Yeah, like you said so maybe they were just hungry

Indigo: It wasn't a huge dragon so maybe it's just too young to know better

Craigh: Maybe it was after fish and the boat didn't have enough?

Indigo: maybe

Indigo: I think a dragon could eat a LOT of fish

Craigh: But they catch well more than 2 mans' weight in fish.

Craigh: and fewer crunchy bones.

Indigo: laughs

Indigo: We'll be at Bort's in 3 or 4 days so I think we'll miss another dragon visit

Craigh: I hope so.

Craigh: I still don't know how to teleport.

Indigo: Where would you teleport?

Craigh: Away from the bloody dragon, of course.

Indigo: And leave us alone?

Craigh: chuckles.

Craigh: Since it's all just wishful talking, no, I'd take you all with me, of course.

Indigo: laughs

Indigo: I couldn't leave the ship but thanks

Craigh: Nah, we'd take the ship too.

Indigo: Fighting dragons is bad on a ship. Not enough room to spread out

Craigh: Especially if you can't swim.

Indigo: And if you learn a ship teleport spell you should tell Branwyn. She would like that!

Licornah: :: looks up :: fighting dragons is generally bad anywhere, right?

Indigo: Well ... yeah, but at least on land you can spread out so not everyone gets blasted at once

Indigo: Only a couple people get hit with dragon stuff!

Indigo: And the rest can fight it

Craigh: Honestly, if possible I'd rather just talk my way out of it. Do they go for that at all?

Indigo: Depends

Lorie (Licornah): What's the phrase they use... “Parlay with the Dragon”

Indigo: The younger dragons don't always know how to speak Common yet but the older ones should

Indigo: Kenna was a dragon teacher once

Indigo: When a dragon kidnapped her

Indigo: You should get her to tell you that story

Craigh: I will. Definitely.

Indigo: She had a whole dragon school going

Craigh: chuckles.

Indigo: Better than getting eaten

Craigh: That sounds like a story I'd like.

Indigo: From our end it took a long time to figure out where she was to rescue her. It was a sad thing

Craigh: I'm glad you did though.

Indigo: Me too!

The time is 6:00 AM

Everyone awakes to leftovers .

and Bixi awakes to a dirty galley

None of the watches did any cleaning

Bixi Fizzlebang: Daph, come help me clean up

Lanek: naw, naw, nope

Lanek: Yout, you and me, we're gonna warsh up

Bixi Fizzlebang: Thanks Lanek! But who will steer the ship?

Lanek: c'mon we can do this, let's get on it

Youtargim: Well Lanek, we can take turns if you like, but one of us should be steering and taking care of things up here

Lanek: okay another volunteer, then?

Howard Plum: I'll help

Lanek: awright

Howard Plum: follows Lanek for cleaning duty

Youtargim: [SKILL] Boating [d20 = 10]

Lanek: shoot, I wanted the brat to do some hard labor, but it's a fair point we need rudderin

Lanek: at least I aint rowin right this second

Howard Plum: I agree. This is better

Howard Plum: And Youtargim does seem skilled at the helm

Howard Plum: I suppose most pirates are

Lanek: shrugs

Youtargim: [SKILL] Seamanship [MOD:DEX] (vs. Target 15) [SUCCESS by 2] [d20 = 13]
