Everyone is still on the ship
But the harbor at Bort’s Beach is in view. It is about time to disembark.
Talwin: Hey Howard, anything I should know about Borts beach? Or just be normal and ready for anything?
Howard Plum: It's a nice small port town with the interesting inn I spoke of. I don't think precautions are necessary
Talwin: Thanks Howard!
Raelynn: I see land!
Talwin: Anyways. With that in mind.
Talwin: Groans in relief
Talwin: Dry land
Talwin: Looks Around
Harbor Master: Hello there
Talwin: Seeing the Harbor Master, brightens
Talwin: Good Evening Sir
Talwin: How might you be this fine evening?
Zayden: Hello!
Harbor Master: I am good
Harbor Master: It has been a good holiday
Talwin: Sighs
Harbor Master: Nods at your ship
Talwin: Unfortunately we missed the celebration
Talwin: Crestfallen
Zayden: Love a good holiday
Harbor Master: Looks like you are sailing the Buttercup?
Raelynn: You call Bixi's amazing feast missing it?
Talwin: Raises eyebrows
Talwin: Indeed we are
Talwin: Is this ship notorious?
Talwin: Winks
Harbor Master: What happened to old Jermaine?
Talwin: Jermaine?
Talwin: Puzzled
Talwin: Looks to Howard
Talwin: You know a Jermaine?
Howard Plum: We rented it from her
Talwin: Nods
Raelynn: We did?
Talwin: I'm afraid I don't know a Jermaine. I know a Jolain that we rented the vessel from
Talwin: Cocks head
Talwin: Sorry, not quite sure if they are the same, but their name sounds similar enough
Harbor Master: Nods,
Talwin: We have the agreements if you need to see them
Talwin: Don't want to cause any trouble
Harbor Master: That would be a good thing
Talwin: Points to Zayden
Harbor Master: Would not like to call the sheriff for more pirates
Zayden: points to self
Zayden: what me?
Reven / Lipthink (giant sword) to Talwin: I think we could convince him
Harbor Master: He would be pretty angry to be woken up again
Talwin: Zayden, would you kindly grab our agreements? for the harbor master?
Talwin: Please?
Lanek: smirks
Zayden: Oh sure
Talwin: Surprised, turns back to the Harbor Master
Zayden: I totally know where they are
Talwin: Pirates?
Zayden goes to grab the agreements from the buttercup
Harbor Master: The Buttercup is a pretty ship
Talwin: Nods
Harbor Master: she has sailed the river for several years
Zayden returns with the agreements
Talwin: She has done well with all the challenges we've faced.
Harbor Master: Takes the from Zayden
Raelynn: Pirates? Really? Do we look like pirates?
Talwin: I can't quite believe all that she's gone through. We had to stop a couple of times for repairs. This river is not the friendliest
Talwin: Rolls eyes, but keeps an easy smile
Zayden: Arrrhh
Harbor Master: Points to Youtargim and Raelynn you two look a bit rakish
Zayden: matey
Talwin: Sighs
Raelynn: WHAT?
Raelynn: Excuse you?!
Talwin: I'll bet pirates don't pay the harbor fee though
Daphene whispers to Raelynn: Isn't Yout a pirate?
Lanek: looks offended
Harbor Master: Heh He looks like a hanger on, nods to Zayden, perhaps a minstrel ?
Raelynn whispers to Daphene: Yes but I AM NOT
Zayden: Excellent point Talwin
Talwin: May I ask how much the docking fee is? I'll fetch the payment
Lanek: hmph. THEY look rakish
Talwin: I don’t' want to be confused with Pirates
Daphene whispers to Raelynn: Yeah, but you're like, his consort or whatever
Zayden: A sexy minstrel
Talwin: Pointedly at the gang
Zayden smiles
Talwin: Grumbles as he accepts the agreement copy from Zayden and passes to the Harbormaster
Raelynn whispers to Daphene: I'm sorry?! I am a PERSON. If we were everything a thing, he would be mine. Not the other way around!
Harbor Master: How long are you staying? and do you need any supplies?
Raelynn: [CHECK] Charisma (vs. Target 16) [SUCCESS by 3] [d20 = 13]
Talwin: Shakes head. Not to long I'd imagine, unless you feel that we might be able to help fend off some pirates
Talwin: Winks
Raelynn: combs her fingers through her hair angrily
Harbor Master: Hands the papers back to Talwin
Talwin: Otherwise, I was told an interesting inn is in this port
Sune Sjögren: I am Sune, what is your name sir?
Talwin: I'd hoped to maybe stay there with my friends
Talwin: I am Talwin, a pleasure to meet you Sune
Daphene whispers to Raelynn: Whoa, it's a mutual term, not implying some kind of ownership or whatever you are thinking. I just meant you're like, together. People will think you're priatey by association
Zayden: Beautiful name Sune
Talwin: Nods
Talwin: We are far from home
Talwin: But the names get better
Talwin: laughs
Zayden also laughs
Zayden: I agree Tal
Raelynn whispers to Daphene: Ugh! We can talk about this later!
Talwin: We mean it nicely sir. No offense meant.
Daphene: rolls eyes
Talwin: The father we go, the more things change
Bixi Fizzlebang: Do they have a crane!?
Zayden: Oh I was being 100% genuine, Sune is a beautiful name I haven't heard before
Talwin: Sighs again.
Talwin: We need to make that thing into Bacon
Talwin: mutter
Talwin: I hate to ask, but can we also rent a crane?
Indigo: Bacon?
Talwin: If there is one available?
Zayden: whispers to Talwin: Don't let Bixi hear ya
Sune Sjögren: You have cargo to offload? of course we can arrange that
Talwin: Why, she going to be worse then she already is?
Talwin: Mutters back
Talwin: Just a really large boar. I apologize for the hassle
Raelynn: She's got glitter lotion now.
Matias Bøhn: Ahh, I can do't
Bixi Fizzlebang: He's tame and fixed!
Talwin: Good Evening to you too Sir
Matias Bøhn: Yu need slauterng tooo?
Talwin: Unfortunately...no. This is a....pet?
Matias Bøhn: Will cost ya
Bixi Fizzlebang: Excuse you, he is my noble steed!
Raelynn: mutters maybe the harbor master
Matias Bøhn: A wha?
Talwin: A......
Talwin: ah
Talwin: We aren't eating it
Talwin: I guess is the easiest way to put it
Matias Bøhn: Shrugs, Can getcha done
Sune Sjögren: Sir Talwin you said you were looking for a friend?
Talwin: If that means no harm will come to it, then....yes?
Talwin: Turns back to Sune
Talwin: Actually an Inn. Unless you know of a legendary swords master
Talwin: But I have yet to find one, so, the inn was recommended to me
Talwin: Supposedly it's...interesting. But that's all the information I have on it
Sune Sjögren: No legends around these parts
Talwin: Nods
Sune Sjögren: Unless you mean Bort
Licornah whispers to Bixi Fizzlebang: I can more or less teleport him off, but can't guarantee the spell will be up the day we reboard the boat....
Sune Sjögren: He is more a character than a legend
Talwin: So...Bort is a legend?
Talwin: Character? How so?
Sune Sjögren: The elf this place is named after
Howard Plum: He was a real person
Sune Sjögren: Is a real person
Bixi Fizzlebang whispers to Licornah: The crane should be ok, but I appreciate that offer! I might need to take you up on it in the future
Talwin: Okay
Howard Plum: he is still alive?
Talwin: Is he known for great deeds? Or just been around so long that the port grew up around him?
Howard Plum: Ohh ... elves
Sune Sjögren: TO hear him tell it he has always lived
Sune Sjögren: Nah back in the old times he built this place back up from the ruins
Talwin: Ah, so there are ruins beneath the Port?
Sune Sjögren: Looks quizzically at Talwin
Sune Sjögren: You really are not from anywhere near here are you?
Talwin: Clarifies
Licornah: Are there temples here for Elven deities?
Talwin: Not anywhere near here at all sir
Talwin: This is all new to me
Talwin: Shrugs
Sune Sjögren: When the Grey Death swept through the world?
Talwin: I try to stay out of trouble and learn what I can
Zayden: Eleven deities?
Talwin: I do know about the Grey Death
Talwin: But from books, not really people
Sune Sjögren: the time before last
Talwin: Little
Talwin: I suppose
Sune Sjögren: Well Bort lived through both times
Sune Sjögren: We all lived through this last time
Sune Sjögren: well
Talwin: leans in
Sune Sjögren: Looks at Daphene and Indigo and Bixi, .... You look like youngins
Sune Sjögren: But we did
Talwin: Smiles
Talwin: Indigo how old are you?
Talwin: Looking pretty spry are you?
Raelynn: You can't just ask someone their age, Talwin!
Talwin: Why not?
Talwin: Looks baffled?
Talwin: Shrugs
Talwin: Well it seems Bort and the population lived through it I guess
Talwin: That's good to hear
Talwin: Smiles
Sune Sjögren: Again looks puzzled, about half the town died
Bixi Fizzlebang: Excuse me, I am the Story Teller!
Zayden: good to live through things
Zayden: better than the alternative
Talwin: I thought you said the last time it passed you by?
Sune Sjögren: OH a real story teller?
Bixi Fizzlebang: Yes, but I don't work on demand
Talwin: Bixi! Come down here and say hello! You are much better at conversation then I am
Sune Sjögren: I said that two times ago, when the Grey Death swept through it killed the entire town,
Raelynn: It's been a long ride. He's probably just tired and in need of a meal? We all are.
Sune Sjögren: Bort built the town after that
Bixi Fizzlebang: joins Talwin
Talwin: Not great at this
Bixi Fizzlebang: Hello, what's the trouble?
Indigo: I'm 37!
Indigo: Not old
Talwin: No trouble Bixi, you just are better at speaking then I am.
Talwin: Turns back to Harbormaster
Talwin: Let me know what we owe you and I will see to it that you are paid promptly.
Bixi Fizzlebang: Wow, sounds like he's quite a guy! Starting from nothing. Good job Bort!
Talwin: I'm not good with conversation as you can tell
Talwin: Smiles good naturedly
Sune Sjögren: Nods
Talwin: Turns to the Ship to help with Unloading
Bixi Fizzlebang: Can we pay respects somewhere?
Indigo: so if Bort is in town we might actually meet an old elf!
Sune Sjögren: We have the ship, no worries on payment right now,
Talwin: Snorts
Talwin: I suppose that's true enough
Talwin: Grins
Sune Sjögren: I guess you will be staying at Mona's
Sune Sjögren: She has the best inn
Talwin: Turns to Howard
Talwin: Does that ring a bell Howard?
Talwin: That inn?
Howard Plum: Is that the inn that holds all of Bort's curios?
Zayden: if it's the best, it's good enough for me
Howard Plum: I don't recall the name of it exactly
Sune Sjögren: Oh nah that is a different one, Borts Inn
Talwin: Nods brightly
Talwin: That one then is the one I was recommended
Talwin: Smiles
Sune Sjögren: Neredras Inn is where you want to stay
Raelynn: What's the difference between Mona's and Bort's Inn?
Raelynn: Er and Neredras?
Talwin: Visibly Confused
Bixi Fizzlebang: Oooh, like a museum?
Sune Sjögren: Mona Neredras is her name, real food
Raelynn: Ah
Raelynn: And Bort's isn't real food...?
Sune Sjögren: Well if you like those hard to find greens I suppose
Raelynn: brightens up
Talwin: Smiles
Sune Sjögren: with that special sauce you have to shake up just right
Sune Sjögren: I want a good steak
Sune Sjögren: Or lamb chop
Indigo: Me too!
Raelynn: Oh! I always like a good salad.
Talwin: Well we have elves in our group, so they will enjoy it. I will fantasize that I could get a steak
Lanek: nods
Talwin: Stomach Grumbles
Lanek: although ... some of each?
Raelynn: It's okay, Talwin. I'll get some at home later.
Talwin: Shrugs
Talwin: It serves to purposes Rae, doesn't bother me none
Matias Bøhn: Culd getcha pork chops
Talwin: Tries desperately not to snicker at Matias comment
Licornah: :: holds breath ::
Indigo: We can stay anywhere and visit the other places
Talwin: Nods
Talwin: We could do that too
Raelynn: You're the visitors. Pick where you'd prefer.
Talwin: And you aren't?
Raelynn: Um, no? Glitter in your ears? I grew up in Dryads Lair.
Raelynn: Just... never visited here.
Talwin: Looks scornfully. When was the last time you got to pick the location?
Talwin: Rolls eyes
Talwin: Try to do something nice
Bixi Fizzlebang: Where can I house a boar where he will be safe and not slaughtered?
Raelynn: shrugs
Matias Bøhn: Tak cha to Monas
Matias Bøhn: Tak et too
Raelynn: whispers, “You can always stay at Borts tomorrow if you don't like Monas”
Sune Sjögren: Take them along Matias, about time to light the lamps
Talwin: Nods gratefully. Thanks for all your advice
Talwin: Smiles
Raelynn: Except on appearances...
Raelynn: hmph
Matias Bøhn: Et cha her for?
Talwin: A quick rest before continuing down river
Raelynn: He's gotta find some weapons master or something or another.
Indigo: points at Talwin
Matias Bøhn: Looks Talwin up and down, Wha Typ o Weapon
Talwin: Two handed weaponry.
Talwin: Pats Reven fondly
Talwin: Pats Reven fondly
Matias Bøhn: Pulls out two daggers and waves them around
Raelynn: He *really* loves his sword.
Matias Bøhn: Ahhhh
Matias Bøhn: Ta
Matias Bøhn: Swrds ar ech
Matias Bøhn: Too long
Indigo: laughs
Matias Bøhn: Short and up clse
Talwin: Yeah...but if you get them to hit, they do well with monsters
Talwin: Isn't that right friends?
Reven / Lipthink (giant sword) to Talwin: Whoa, watch where you're patting there, buddy
Raelynn: And giants. I suppose.
Matias Bøhn: JABS forward with a dagger into the air, quick in and out three times
Talwin to Reven / Lipthink (giant sword): what, you got your own sword you worried about?
Reven / Lipthink (giant sword) to Talwin: One day, maybe.
Reven / Lipthink (giant sword) to Talwin: A sword can dream
Indigo: You're pretty good there!
Talwin: You are fast, I'll give you that
Talwin: Nods appreciatively
Matias Bøhn: I her ther a mastr at Dragon
Talwin: Pauses with complete seriousness
Talwin: Dragon? For two handed weaponry?
Talwin: Or for Daggers?
Raelynn: Drakeshead...?
Matias Bøhn: Aeee Dragon I sid
Raelynn: Oh. Maybe that's who you're looking for, Talwin? It's not too far from here.
Howard Plum: The lighthouse
Talwin: Nods
Matias Bøhn: Sem masterie persn other talk bot
Talwin: Not really understanding, but knowing that apparently the other companions have caught on
Raelynn: It's a good place to start looking.
Matias Bøhn: Well her te be
Raelynn: A bit... dragonish, but well, you know.
Matias Bøhn: Mona hep ye
Talwin: Thanks Mister Matias
Mona Neredras: Looks out at the banging
Mona Neredras: Matias Bohn, you get your ham fists away from my door
Mona Neredras: What are you doing away from the docks, the lights needs lighting
Mona Neredras: If another ship wrecks you will not hear the last from me you hear!
Matias Bøhn: BAH
Raelynn: Hello, mam. She was showing us to your inn as we need a place to stay and food tonight.
Mona Neredras: Looks at your group
Mona Neredras: My My you have been on a ship for too long to call Matias a she
Raelynn: [CHECK] Charisma (vs. Target 16) [SUCCESS by 9] [d20 = 7]
Mona Neredras: I am so sorry for you my dear
Raelynn: feels prettier after getting her hair tamed
Indigo: laughs
Mona Neredras: come in and get something to eat
Mona Neredras: we can fix you up
Raelynn: Thank you.
Mona Neredras: So where are you folks from?
Mona Neredras: Adventurers I take it
Mona Neredras: here to see the big city?
Mona Neredras: Have lots of loot to try to sell off?
Talwin: Smiles, We hail from Dragon's Fen. Branwyn’s Estate
Talwin: Not this time
Mona Neredras: Never heard of that
Talwin: Nods
Mona Neredras: Where in Terraguard is that?
Raelynn: South in the Mist.
Howard Plum: Drillian
Mona Neredras: WHAT!
Raelynn: A week's walk from Loosend about?
Mona Neredras: You are vampires!
Howard Plum: smiles
Howard Plum: Not quite
Talwin: Cocks head
Raelynn: First I'm a pirate. Now I'm a vampire. Do none of you have eyes??
Talwin: Not that I'm aware?
Mona Neredras: You make a lovely pirate dear
Talwin: Bursts out laughing at Raelynn's remark
Howard Plum: The vampires would not travel this far
Raelynn: I'm a Priestess of Love! Not a pirate!
Mona Neredras: That is a good thing
Mona Neredras: Stealing hearts I see
Raelynn: sighs
Mona Neredras: Looks around the group and nods to Youtargim
Raelynn: I give up.
Mona Neredras: His eyes give it away
Mona Neredras: Oh no dear, never give it away, whispers to Rae
Raelynn: Well that's nothing new. I've done that for years.
Raelynn: Oh?
Mona Neredras: Her jaw drops a bit listening to that
Howard Plum: coughs
Mona Neredras: Come Come Come
Mona Neredras: how many rooms are you needing?
Raelynn: Too much to hope for one for each of us? We can bunk, too, I suppose.
Mona Neredras: I have two singles and one double, and of course the great room, only three others in there now
Mona Neredras: You can decide after the wine
Talwin: I cant take the great room if you would like some proper rest.
Howard Plum: We can take the 3 please
Mona Neredras: Sit
Mona Neredras: sit
Raelynn: I could certainly use some wine.
Mona Neredras: Hustles off to the back to get food and drinks for the group
Talwin: I could certainly use something after this last conversation
Talwin: Mumbles to himself
Raelynn: You need to join Girls' Watch sometime, Talwin. Get better tolerance for it.
Youtargim: I am uncertain of what being a pirate means here,
Zayden: did somebody say 'wine'?
Raelynn: Yes!
Talwin: Yes, but no asking for magical identifications this time
Indigo: Do you have ale?
Zayden: Fine
Licornah: We should have grapes and make our own wine. Would make a good side business
Youtargim: I thought you needed to have hills for grapes ?
Talwin: If we can grow it in the estate, I would gladly fund such a venture Licornah
Raelynn: You saw how those humans reacted to the pirate bugbears, Yout. And the harbor master. So doesn't mean much good.
Talwin: It would provide an excellent revenue stream for the estate if you could find a way to grow them reliably
Zayden: making wine in a beautiful estate? Sounds like a nice retirement plan
Talwin: Interested deeply in Licornah's remark
Youtargim: But then Sune and Mona both seem to just accept it?
Licornah: Hills are not necessary, only good soil.
Talwin: Shakes head sadly
Raelynn: shrugs
Talwin: Licornah, the soil is not....good
Talwin: We can grow some basic crops, but that's it
Talwin: We mine so we can trade
Talwin: But if you find a way to turn the soil good, you let me know. I'll gladly personally fund a vineyard if you can figure it out
Talwin: It would be good for the estate
Raelynn: It's the sunlight, silly. Not the soil.
Raelynn: You don't get the sunlight needed.
Talwin: And I can write it off as a business expense...
Indigo: That's just the wastes
Talwin: Shrugs
Talwin: It's both Raelynn
Talwin: We tried growing before. The soil just isn't that great
Indigo: What can you grow in a swamp?
Zayden: Even if the wine turns out bad we could just sell it as budget wine, I’m sure there's a market for that
Raelynn: You can make wine from more than grapes.
Talwin: Thoughtfully strokes chin
Raelynn: Oh! Maybe put it in boxes to save money on bottles. You might be on to something, Zayden.,
Indigo: That's why I like ale. Simple stuff
Zayden: Great idea Rae! Boxes gotta be cheaper than bottles too
Raelynn: Faewine is good, too.
Talwin: If you know a way to accomplish this, I will fund it
Talwin: Hammers hand on table excitedly
Raelynn: And you can't have street fights if your wine is in a box. Much harder to stab someone with it.
Talwin: Hammers hand on table excitedly
Zayden: Fair fair
Talwin: Looks at Raelynn baffled
Talwin: What?
Raelynn: Hmm? Oh Zayden and I were talking about better ways to transport wine.
Adelbert Osten: Ah Mona my dear, a double round of ale and a bowl of stew please He calls loudly to the back as he approaches your table
Adelbert Osten: Who here is the story teller?
Indigo: Think Raelynn wants to go all piratey and break a bottle and stab someone with it
Raelynn: points to Bixi
Bixi Fizzlebang: That would be me!
Raelynn: At this rate, maybe Indigo...
Indigo: laughs
Adelbert Osten: So you owe me fair market value if your boar harms any of my flock
Mona Neredras: OH no she does not
Indigo: Like you said. Can't do that with a box
Raelynn: laughs
Bixi Fizzlebang: That sounds fair to me
Mona Neredras: Actual market value
Mona Neredras: You listen to me young lady, do not let him trick you with that
Raelynn: Flock of what? Geese? Sheep? Horses?
Mona Neredras: prices just tripled because of some bugbear pirates
Talwin: Why is the boar, in a place where it can cause damage
Mona Neredras: His sheep are good but not worth the market rate
Raelynn: Oh! We saved some of those sheep!
Adelbert Osten: What people will pay is what the market will be
Adelbert Osten: OH!
Adelbert Osten: I will buy them off of you
Adelbert Osten: Actual market value
Adelbert Osten: Like she said
Raelynn: Well we gave them back to their humans.
Adelbert Osten: Ahhh
Adelbert Osten: Well cheers that was well done of you
Bixi Fizzlebang: Yeah, we wouldn't charge for them if we still had them, though. Those are yours, friend
Adelbert Osten: Thank you Story Teller
Adelbert Osten: So I hear you want to go out to Drakeshead?
Adelbert Osten: Looking for new stories?
Talwin: Looking for a Weapons Master
Talwin: More like
Talwin: Smiles
Adelbert Osten: Ahhh Alexandria you are looking for
Adelbert Osten: Good luck with that
Talwin: Thanks
Adelbert Osten: How many fingers you still have?
Indigo: Why?
Talwin: All of them?
Adelbert Osten: Might help
Talwin: Good to Know?
Talwin: Why, does Alexandria have a bad reputation?
Adelbert Osten: Had a group in ohhhh three months ago? three of them, only one came back
Talwin: With less fingers I'm guessing?
Adelbert Osten: A big group like this? at least half of you should be good
Raelynn: eyes Talwin
Talwin: Wait wait. I'm going for training, not killing off compatriots
Talwin: Turns to group
Talwin: I'll go alone
Talwin: My god
Adelbert Osten: OH she already agreed to train you?
Talwin: Shakes head
Lanek: shrugs
Talwin: Nope
Adelbert Osten: Congratulations
Indigo: No no. We're good
Talwin: Never met her
Adelbert Osten: Oh
Talwin: But I'll find a way
Adelbert Osten: well then take a lot of friends
Talwin: Usually do
Talwin: Er, may I ask why? Is she...overtly hostile or something?
Lanek: seems like unannounced visitors ain’t welcome
Adelbert Osten: From what I hear she has a high price for her skills
Talwin: Sighs
Adelbert Osten: Points to Lanek
Indigo: I had to try and hit my sword master before she would train me. Got her on the first go! She wasn't happy right then but she trained me
Adelbert Osten: see the wise old man knows
Talwin: That's it Indigo?
Lanek: snorts
Adelbert Osten: Impressed young Hin
Indigo: Well mine
Indigo: Hoffman's weapons master made him get him a tulip
Adelbert Osten: Never had much need for more than a staff and a sling
Daphene: nods in agreement
Adelbert Osten: minor knife works
Daphene: Lanek IS very wise
Talwin: Well, we'll have to evaluate when we get there, but no amount of friends will FORCE someone to train them. That seems...counterproductive
Lanek: rolls eyes and turns away
Adelbert Osten: I can take you there in the morning
Talwin: Brightens
Talwin: Really? That would be very kind of you!
Adelbert Osten: It is a good half day walk we can get there and back before dark
Adelbert Osten: so you can go back home
Adelbert Osten: If she lets you
Indigo: Do you just want to see him fight?
Talwin: Shakes head. I wont' go back home until I've gotten what I've come for. If I don't, then home won't matter anyways...because I'll be dead and It won't be my problem anymore
Adelbert Osten: I have my flock here waiting on a ship
Adelbert Osten: Might as well make a coin or three for escorting strangers
Indigo: smiles
Adelbert Osten: 20 copper for the trip
Indigo: Easy enough
Adelbert Osten: Good man
Talwin: Grins good naturedly.
Indigo: And an another ale to finish off that stew?
Adelbert Osten: Ahhh Mona you make the best stew in town
Talwin: Is that “Fair market value? Or actual market value?”
Mona Neredras: The only stew in town and you know it Bert
Adelbert Osten: grins
Adelbert Osten: Points his spoon at Talwin,
Adelbert Osten: See now you are thinking
Talwin: Waves hand.
Adelbert Osten: Any other questions for me?
Adelbert Osten: I will meet you here in the morning first thing
Adelbert Osten: be ready to walk
Adelbert Osten: ummm,
Zayden: soooo... wine?
Adelbert Osten: looks at Bixi and Indigo
Adelbert Osten: We will be moving pretty fast
Indigo: I walk faster than I look!
Adelbert Osten: Do you want to stay here?
Talwin: Bixi will probably be riding a boar knowing her
Talwin: Indigo is fast
Talwin: I wouldn't worry unless
Indigo: Not sure about Daphene
Talwin: Frowns
Adelbert Osten: She is with you?
Indigo: yes. She's a ranger
Adelbert Osten: I thought she was a shepherdess
Raelynn: What? She doesn't look like she is?
Adelbert Osten: Sorry miss, not any kind of ranger I have seen
Mona Neredras: Brings out a second bottle of wine
Indigo: Yeah she talks more than most rangers I've met
Raelynn: You've seen many?
Mona Neredras: Takes away the plates and bowls
Daphene: I'm not a very good ranger
Mona Neredras: Don't worry dear, you will learn and be a good one soon
Indigo: Yeah!
Raelynn: nods
Talwin: Stays away from the second wine, but nods politely
Adelbert Osten: The sheriff tends to have rangers working for her
Raelynn: Maybe N'laea has tips. Um, if she's in a good mood when you meet her.
Adelbert Osten: Good to meet you folks
Indigo: is the sheriff nice?
Adelbert Osten: See you in the morning
Indigo: Goodnight!
Adelbert Osten: Old Battlescar? she is decent
Raelynn: Huh?
Indigo: That's her name?
Licornah: :: stands :: If you will excuse me, I'm going to commune with my deity
Adelbert heads out for the night
Mona is off cleaning
Raelynn: The sheriff's name is Old Battlescar?
Indigo: That's a not so nice name
the great room has several bedrolls along the wall
and you can pick who sleeps with who
Raelynn: We'll, um, ask her name when we see her before calling her that.
Talwin: I'm fine sleeping in the Great Room
Indigo: grins
Indigo: Good idea!
Raelynn: Talwin, are you going to bring this Alexandria any... gift or something? Maybe? Put her in a good mood?
Raelynn: You could bring her glitter. I still have some left for making lotion.
Raelynn: Oh! Or glitter lotion! It turned out so well.
Raelynn: looks around and realizes she's talking to herself
Indigo: I don't think two handed sword masters want people giving them glitter
Lanek: that's an assumption
Raelynn: I try not to judge or make assumptions.
Lanek: ha
Raelynn: Exactly, Lanek.
Indigo: Okay. Can I watch when you try it?
Raelynn: It's something at least unless Talwin has other ideas.
Lanek: maybe I want glitter
Lanek: I don't but I MIGHT
Raelynn: Oh! Do you? I have some lotion still...
Raelynn: Oh...
Raelynn: Are you sure? Here, stick out your arm. Maybe it'll look good on you.
Indigo: You're not a famous swords master that is rumored to kill potential trainees
Raelynn: Howard already turned it out, but maybe you won't.
Raelynn: No, no. He said two didn't return. But not why they didn't return. Maybe they loved it there? Maybe they fell in love with her? We don't know!
Indigo: snorts
Indigo: This should be fun
Talwin: Yeah, If this turns out to be too ridiculous, I have no problem not training with her guys. It's not worth hurting you guys or permanently maiming myself. I don't mind putting in the work, but I won't let this be a one all, be all type of thing
Zayden: I agree it's not worth hurting us!
Indigo: She's not going to hurt us
Raelynn: It's appreciated.
Indigo: We'll hurt her if she tries
Talwin: Shrugs
Bixi Fizzlebang: Zayden needs all his fingers for instruments. I can write without a pinky if it comes down to it
Raelynn: What if she asks for Reven, Talwin? Is it worth it?
Bixi Fizzlebang: Not my first choice but...
Talwin: She'll get some of us if she's a legend of this caliber. Besides, she might have her own friends
Zayden: True, but do you WANT to write without a pinky?
Talwin: Oh god Raelynn, please don't tempt me
Raelynn: laughs
Bixi Fizzlebang: No, but if it means Talwin will stop annoying me, it might be worth it
Raelynn: Wow, I didn't know your love was so fickle!
Talwin: Nah, but it's a good threat if Reven gets too far out of hand
Talwin: Pats Reven fondly
Raelynn: shakes head
Raelynn: I worry about you.
Bixi Fizzlebang: Like... it's hard to be mean to someone who sacrificed a finger for you
Talwin: Yeah, me too
Raelynn: smiles
Raelynn: Well, I'll bring some lotion. You all can decide if you have something worthwhile if it's needed.
Reven / Lipthink (giant sword) to Talwin: I also worry about you, but not for the same reasons the fluffy one means
Raelynn: Maybe ale?
Indigo: No sense worrying about it until we find out what she wants
Indigo: It's only half day's walk, right?
Raelynn: I was thinking more along the lines of good etiquette.
Talwin: Nods
Daphene: I'm sure the Story Teller and the King's Bounder and the wise Lanek can take care of any problems!
Raelynn: [SKILL] Etiquette [MOD:CHA] (vs. Target 16) [SUCCESS by 10] [d20 = 6]
Licornah: :: praying for the success of Talwin's mission and looking for inspiration to create a vineyard ::
Raelynn: You bring gifts to people who host you, important people, that kind of stuff.
Raelynn: Wise Lanek doesn't... quite have the same ring as the other two names.
so heading out in the morning. Knotty carries Bixi and Daphene and a horse for Licornah and Indigo. The rest are walking
Licornah: :: approaches her horse for a brief chat about the ride ahead and to get to know it, ensures to grab some extra traveling snacks for it too ::
Adelbert Osten: Walking with a strong stride along the path
Adelbert Osten: Have you ever been here on the Southern Exposure?
Talwin: Shakes Head
Talwin: Afraid Not
Talwin: Never been out this way before
Indigo: What's that?
Adelbert Osten: It starts back in Pilk way up on the cliffs
Adelbert Osten: and winds the way along the top down to Borts and back up to Drakes
Adelbert Osten: The wind can be fierce
Adelbert Osten: but you get a nice view over the water
Talwin: How fierce? Enough to stagger a man?
Adelbert Osten: If you are not careful in winter storms you can get blown right off into the water
Talwin: Shudders
Talwin: The cold watery end
Talwin: Not my preferred way to go
Adelbert Osten: The open fields are good for my flocks
Adelbert Osten: so I keep them away from the cliffs
Talwin: Makes sense.
Adelbert Osten: So how did you hear about Alexandria?
Talwin: A friend researched my request and was kind enough to share this persons name
Talwin: It's a long way from home, so I hope it turns for the best
Talwin: If not
Talwin: Shrugs
Adelbert Osten: I am always curious
Talwin: I won't risk my friends. And, if I'm dead, it isn't my problem anymore
Talwin: No problem
Adelbert Osten: We have gotten maybe half a dozen people since she moved in there
Adelbert Osten: Wonder where she was before?
Talwin: Why do you think she moved here?
Talwin: Is it a quiet life?
Talwin: Away from people?
Adelbert Osten: I think that might be it
Talwin: Or some reason she chose this place perhaps?
Talwin: And yet, assholes like me come to ask for her training
Talwin: No wonder she moved to a quiet place if that is the reason
Talwin: Probably just wants to be left alone is my guess, but I don't like to guess. I like to be sure
Talwin: If that makes sense
Adelbert Osten: I suppose when you are famous you have to deal with jerks
Reven / Lipthink (giant sword) to Talwin: Don't say that, you are a good person. Much to my annoyance.
Adelbert Osten: I know I have to
Adelbert Osten: and I am not famous
Talwin to Reven / Lipthink (giant sword): Nah, you and me are two peas in a pod. I almost strangled someone who annoyed me. I wish you were there to see it.
Adelbert Osten: But you seem to have a strong group
Zayden: Famous or not, we always have to deal with jerks at some point
Howard Plum: laughs
Adelbert Osten: You sound like a wise bard
Talwin: I'm sorry you have to deal with Jerks. Hopefully not that often though right?
Talwin: She probably kills jerks. But you....thoughtful. I'll bet you get them back in the end
Zayden: Thank you Adelbert
Talwin: Grins
Adelbert Osten: Nah I stay with the flocks, avoid people unless I can make an extra coin for some extra wine
Talwin: Shrugs
Talwin: That works too!
Adelbert Osten: This is a good easy trip
Adelbert Osten: bring some strangers out along the cliffs
Talwin: Well I'm glad we could help a little.
So as you head along the path
the morning passes quickly
the wind tugs just a bit but it is not as described
the views are very nice
Talwin: Nice views
Talwin: It's peaceful here
Zayden: This kinda view deserves a little music!
The date is Lad____de, 3rd Din (Spring), 359 SKR
Young Moon's phase is New Moon
Old Moon's phase is Waning Gibbous
The time is 11:00 AM
Zayden: [SKILL] Musical Instrument [MOD:DEX] (vs. Target 11) [FAILURE by 8] [d20 = 19]
Zayden: dang it
Talwin: Sighs inwardly
Lanek: [SKILL] Musical Instrument [MOD:DEX] (vs. Target 16) [SUCCESS by 5] [d20 = 11]
Weather Report Location: Dryads Lair Principality Forest, Mid Spring Day 3, Midday Precipitation: Clear Skies Wind: No Wind Temperature: Cool 49F / 9C
Zayden: fraid I couldn't give that view the music it deserved
Lanek: I got you
Raelynn: [SKILL] Singing [MOD:CHA] (vs. Target 16) [SUCCESS by 14] [d20 = 2]
Lanek: pulls out the flute
Zayden: Thank you Lanek
Raelynn: sings a little song to go with the tune
Zayden smiles
Adelbert Osten: Nice
Lanek: nodding while playing
Zayden: I really like this band
Licornah: Indigo, you'll forgive me if I talk to the horse and you can't hear the reply... I find chatting with my riding companion helps the trip move quickly
Indigo: It's fine! I'm just looking around
Zayden: They say horses are very therapeutic, good listeners
As you ride/walk along the Exposure you can see the lighthouse up ahead, standing tall and clear along the edge of the cliffs
and as you get close to the area you can see several buildings forming a small town at the base of the tower
Zayden: Hey! Looks like those several building form a small town over there!
Adelbert Osten: HAI!!!!
Adelbert Osten: GET AWAY
Centaur : [Translation] FUCK YOU SHEPARD
Raelynn: looks over
Zayden: who's he talking to?
Licornah: :: waves to the Centaur ::
Raelynn : [Translation] Hey! What are you doing?
Zayden: oh dang, never met a Centaur before
Centaur: Charges at Adelbert
Zayden: Uh Oh!
Talwin: Whoa, whoa, whoa
Licornah : [Translation] Greetings, do you live near here?
Raelynn: Silly Zayden. You did right before we got to Loosend.
Talwin: Jumps in front of Adelbert
Raelynn: readies a spell then pauses at seeing Talwin
Talwin: Hands raised in supplication, attempting to diffuse
Zayden: oh my bad Rae, I got a bad memory from all those weeds I 'used' to smoke
Zayden smiles
Raelynn: laughs
Daphene: What language do they speak?
Bert runs forward, trips over Talwin trying to protect him and fumbles his crook off into the grass as the Centaur runs of and places a front hoof onto his back
Indigo: Horse?
Centaur : [Translation] Thank you for helping me defeat him
Raelynn: Sometimes Elvish, sometimes Common, sometimes... whatever that is.
Talwin: Turns to the elves
Talwin: What is he/she saying?
Raelynn: shrugs
Centaur: Ahhh I see you do not understand
Licornah : [Translation] Oh, there are problems here?
Centaur: Thank you for helping me defeat him
Talwin: What?
Raelynn: Please explain.
Zayden: What's wrong with Bert?
Centaur: Taps the hoof on his back,
Licornah : [Translation] :: pauses :: Defeat? I didn't realize there was a conflict
Centaur: Do you yield?
Zayden: whoa take it easy there fella
Adelbert Osten: GET OFF OF ME YOU OAF
Raelynn: Will ONE of you please explain??
Licornah: It seems like Bert was defeated?
Raelynn: [SKILL] Persuasion [MOD:CHA] (vs. Target 16) [SUCCESS by 15] [d20 = 1]
Licornah: He wants you to yield
Centaur: Nods to Licornah, the Elf understands
Licornah: Do you two have a past?
Talwin: I am so confused
Zayden: Just yield Bert! it's not worth your life man
Centaur: You might say so
Adelbert Osten: Fine fine fine
Adelbert Osten: I yield
Licornah : [Translation] He has caused problems on your land before? We're visitors, passing through, we mean no harm
Adelbert Osten: You know if he did not trip me I would have scored a hit on you
Raelynn: Ugh. Just boys being boys??
Centaur : [Translation] SNORTS
Talwin: I uh, was trying to protect you
Talwin: Sorry?
Zayden: probably slept with his wife or something
Centaur: What ever
Centaur: Lets him up
Centaur: Next time be quicker
Zayden: Or maybe that's just how they say hello as old friends?
Centaur: Turns to walk away
Zayden: Hey Centaur got a name?
Raelynn: throws her hands up in frustration
Adelbert Osten: Stands up
Raelynn: mutters, “Should have just gone straight to Mom.”
Licornah: It's good to see one of your kind so far from my home.
Adelbert Osten: HEY Come back here
Adelbert Osten: damn oaf
Adelbert Osten: These people are here to talk with Alexandria
Adelbert Osten: You should at least help them out
Centaur: Seriously?
Centaur: How much wine did you drink?
Talwin: One glass?
Centaur: Why would I help... looks over the group... well they do look at least well tested...
Raelynn: Not enough.
Adelbert Osten: Hear them out and then decide
Adelbert Osten: They came a long way
Zayden: Because it's the nice thing to do?
Adelbert Osten: Yeah
Adelbert Osten: Listen to the bard
Adelbert Osten: Well more listen to the elves, the bard .... not so much
Talwin: Chuckles at the entire situation
Licornah : [Translation] The warrior with us, Talwin, he's well equipped for the challenges ahead. We come to support him. Please, in the name of Larue, please help us.
Adelbert Osten: They made some nice music
Adelbert Osten: and the old wise man too
Zayden: hurtful, but fair
Zayden: [SKILL] Persuasion [MOD:CHA] (vs. Target 16) [SUCCESS by 14] [d20 = 2]
Centaur : [Translation] You say he can handle a challenge? with his brains? or his brawn?
Licornah : [Translation] :: nods slowly :: I believe he's ready with both as the challenges present themselves
Talwin: My friends kindly accompanied me here from the mists, Dragon's Fen. It's far enough away that I'm not sure if you know it. (Say this when I'm not interrupting a long conversation that I can't read)
Centaur : [Translation] I suppose I can at least listen
Licornah : [Translation] :: nods again :: I am honored for your time and ears :: bows ::
Centaur : [Translation] Sometimes I wonder where a quiet place is
Zayden: You asked the man to yield, I assume that makes you an honorable Centaur. Do the honorable thing then, and help us. We are good people on a good mission asking for your assistance
Licornah: :: nods at Talwin :: make your case
Raelynn: Will ONE of you please explain??
Daphene: Are we on a good mission?
Adelbert Osten: I told you it was dangerous
Licornah: I availed the Centaur to listen to Talwin make his case to see Alexandria -- he asked if he was strong of mind or brawn, I said both, depending on the challenge. He agreed to hear Talwin out
Centaur: What brings an Elven priestess and a second Elven priestess out to such a desolate place?
Raelynn: Yeah, I figured dangerous like dragons. We've seen enough of those.
Centaur: There are much more dangerous things in this world than Dragons
Raelynn: Helping out a friend before I visit home.
Talwin: Lichs? We dealt with those two. Nasty buggers
Licornah: I have ventured from Silvermoon on a quest from my deity; I travel with adventurers to learn and grow more
Raelynn: Mhmm, like angry goddess. We've encountered that, too.
Centaur: Over Confidence is one
Raelynn: Well good thing it isn't my quest.
Talwin: Really it boils down to my life's goal good Man
Talwin: I don't want to tell you my life story because I doubt you care
Indigo: So does the centaur work for Alexandria or is she just curious?
Centaur: Raises an eyebrow to Talwin
Talwin: However
Centaur: Why do you think I do not care?
Talwin: Sighs
Talwin: Because it is long, strange, and would take a week to tell it
Indigo: Or is the Centaur really Alexandria ...
Talwin: But if you want it, I will give it
Indigo: [CHECK] Wisdom (vs. Target 10) [SUCCESS by 8] [d20 = 2]
Raelynn: whispers, “Oooh, making assumptions like we just talked about....”
Raelynn: looks at Indigo
Talwin: I suppose the highlights to start I guess
Alexandria: Looks at Indigo
Indigo: Hello!
Indigo: Are you Alexandria?
Alexandria: You are here for training? I thought it was the human?
Talwin: Chuckles
Indigo: Oh it's Talwin. Sorry
Indigo: I was just thinking is all
Alexandria: You think well
Indigo: Sometimes
Talwin: Not so sound of mind it would seem. I suppose my friends are the thinkers, while I am more of the loyal shield
Talwin: I suppose I am not the brightest. But, I do take care of mine
Talwin: All I can ask for I suppose
Alexandria: What do you ask for?
Talwin: Honestly....
Talwin: Pensive
Talwin: Before I ask, may I ask you a question before?
Alexandria: Crosses arms across their chest
Alexandria: You are already talking, why not continue
Talwin: Smiles
Talwin: Are you out here to get away from people like me?
Talwin: Who come to pester you?
Alexandria: I wander the world in search of peace
Alexandria: Knowing I will not find it
Talwin: Frowns
Talwin: I won't ask unless you are willing to tell
Alexandria: What are you wanting to ask?
Alexandria: You already have asked one question
Talwin: Chuckles
Talwin: Bluntly, I would like Training.
Talwin: A statement
Talwin: But
Talwin: I wanted to be certain that my request wouldn't disturb your search for peace
Talwin: Because if it does, It's not worth it
Alexandria: My peace has been disturbed already
Alexandria: several times
Alexandria: so far my skills have not been put to use
Daphene: Yeah, but it wasn't his fault last time
Daphene: He just doesn't want it to be his fault
Daphene: And lose his fingers
Talwin: Shrugs
Alexandria: Fingers?
Talwin: I don't mind losing fingers if it ends with a result worthy of it
Alexandria: What?
Talwin: Ah, Bert said the last people who visited you lost fingers
Talwin: And only one came back
Centaur : [Translation] You fucking idiot, you tried to scare them with a story about me eating fingers? what in the hell are you trying to do?
Talwin: Shakes head. “I'm sorry. I don't understand.”
Centaur: Scowls at Bert
Daphene: He's obviously not talking to you
Centaur: Gestures to the two statues
Daphene: rolls eyes
Daphene: Have some patience, Talwin
Centaur: Those two who were turned to stone by the medusa
Indigo: There's a Medusa?
Centaur: Several of them out there
Talwin: Huh. Never had the pleasure
Centaur: Not sure why they thought to bring these two back, after they failed
Talwin: Dragons, Yes. Lich? No problem. But a Medusa....
Bixi Fizzlebang: Ooooh, this sounds like a good story
Centaur: Give me your sword
Talwin: Hesitates.
Indigo: Uh-oh
Talwin: Not without permission
Indigo: You should tell her
Raelynn: Literally or figuratively?
Talwin: Reven?
Talwin: Are you okay?
Centaur: Raises an eyebrow
Indigo: It could try to take her over!
Talwin: Oh please
Talwin: Calm down
Talwin: First Permission from Reven
Reven / Lipthink (giant sword) to Talwin: Um... I might be dangerous to her
Talwin to Reven / Lipthink (giant sword): now
Talwin: Nods
Talwin: I'm sorry. Reven says it might be dangerous for you
Reven / Lipthink (giant sword) to Talwin: But... it's up to you. I'll miss you if she claims me, friend
Centaur: Are you that crazy that you carry around an enchanted sword with some being trapped inside?
Talwin: Shrugs
Talwin: Worked out for me so far
Talwin: Reven says it's my call, but if he's uncomfortable with it, he’s my friend first, sword second
Centaur: Hold out your sword
Raelynn: bites her tongue
Centaur: I will not touch such a cursed item
Talwin: Nods
Talwin: Holds out sword
Centaur: Hard to judge if you know your care with such an item
Reven / Lipthink (giant sword) to Talwin: She's not TECHNICALLY wrong, but I don't feel cursed in the way that I think she means it. Just trapped.
Talwin: Nods
Talwin to Reven / Lipthink (giant sword): Yeah.
Centaur: Looks over the group
Talwin: I would spar with you if that would satisfy you
Reven / Lipthink (giant sword) to Talwin: I mean who among us doesn't have a healthy bloodlust?
Centaur: Who here thinks that he deserves the chance to learn from the greatest swordsman alive?
Indigo: raises hand
Talwin to Reven / Lipthink (giant sword): I mean....a few?
Raelynn: We wouldn't all come here with him if we didn't think that.
Centaur: Nods
Reven / Lipthink (giant sword) to Talwin: Well then they need to dial it back a little. Too much bloodlust is bad for your health.
Daphene: I just met him but he seems to have a good heart
Talwin: Desperately holds back a chuckle from Reven. Face is still deadpan
Centaur: How well do you know this area?
Talwin: Shakes head
Talwin: Not well
Talwin: We're far from home
Centaur: That might not be a good thing
Talwin: Shrugs
Raelynn: Howard and I grew up in Dryads Lair.
Talwin: I'll do what I have to
Zayden: I support Tal!
Centaur: That can be very helpful
Bixi Fizzlebang: He doesn't appreciate good pranks but I guess otherwise he's a pretty decent guy. I'd lose a finger for him. A pinky.
Centaur: I do not understand the finger thing, someday I will have to get someone to explain it to me
Centaur: If you want to train with me
Centaur: you will have to help with the forge
Centaur: Gestures to the lighthouse
Talwin: Nods
Talwin: I have some skill with smithing
Talwin: What do you need me to do?
Centaur: We need three fire gems, from the fire swamps
Talwin: Nods again
Centaur: Go find them and bring them back
Talwin: I take it I'll tangle with Medusa and other...obstacles correct?
Bixi Fizzlebang: No one said anything about fire swamps. Um... how far away is fire swamps and do you have anywhere that I could keep Knotty while we do this?
Talwin: Do you require I do this on my own, or may I take my companions with me
Bixi Fizzlebang: Oh, good call Talwin. I just assumed we were all going
Raelynn: The ones the harbor master in Rivers Bend told us to stay away from...?
Centaur: If you really think you are worthy of training then you can bring me those and survive your quest
Talwin: Nods
Talwin: I will do this
Talwin: Is there any pertinent information you think I should know?
Centaur: Three Fire Gems
Centaur: I need those for the forge
Centaur: If you are worthy you will bring them
Talwin: I guess it wouldn't be much of a quest if I asked for directions. I'll get them
Centaur: If not then....
Talwin: Inwardly rolls his eyes
Talwin: Friends, I need to do some research
Talwin: Shall we leave Alexandria to the peaceful afternoon?
Alexandria: I am certain they will be needed
Talwin: Nods
Talwin: I will do my best to obtain them
Alexandria: I will be here until Midsummer
Raelynn: The Fire Swamps are to the south near on the lake.
Alexandria: then I will be traveling again
Alexandria: It has been a year already, and it feels too long in one spot
Alexandria: you said you are from Dragon Fen?
Talwin: Nods
Alexandria: Where is that?
Talwin: Drillian, within the Mists
Alexandria: Hmm, Oh well
Alexandria: I am not a fan of swamps
Talwin: Laughs aloud despite the situation
Indigo: Our swamps are full of leeches and not gems
Talwin: I'm uh, not much either. But life leads where it leads eh?
Alexandria: Perhaps I will see you again
Talwin: I don't make promises I can't keep, but I will do everything I can to ensure I am successful and return
Talwin: If I am dead, then training won't be doing me much good will it
Zayden: who likes swamps anyway?
Adelbert Osten: Next time I will catch you
Alexandria: BLOOOOWWSSSS a NIEEEGGGGGHHHH at him
Alexandria: STOMPS
Alexandria: and walks away
Adelbert Osten: Very well
Adelbert Osten: If we hurry we can make it for supper
Adelbert Osten: while it is hot
Talwin: Doomed to walk the earth for eternity?
Talwin: Thank you Adelbert
Talwin: For everything
Talwin: Your kindness today was very moving. I appreciate you introducing us
Talwin: I hope I can accomplish her task
Adelbert Osten: You actually got a quest
Adelbert Osten: that is more than most
Adelbert Osten: out of the six only three managed that
Talwin: Smiles. “I think you gave a better reason to help me then I would have for myself”
Talwin: I think she likes you
Talwin: Well gang despite me straight up asking if this was a quest I needed to do myself, she didn't forbid help. If she rejects me for having help, then we at least were able to help keep the forge going.
Talwin: It seems we have research to do
Raelynn: Or you could just ask, silly.
Bixi Fizzlebang: I'm pretty sure she said you would need us
Talwin: Adelbert, sincerely, thank you for everything. I would say this is “Fair Market Value” for your kindness today.
Raelynn: Anyone who's anyone knows the newts have the gems. They're apparently really pretty.
Talwin: Consider a tip from a grateful tourist
Talwin: Passes a gold coin
Talwin: Today meant more to me then you will ever know I think
Indigo: We have to steal gems from swamp lizards?
Talwin: Steal? I think liberate would be more appropriate
Raelynn: Sounds like it.
Talwin: Unless we are official pirates now?
Talwin: Side eyes Raelynn
Raelynn: If that boat stops smelling so bad, it'll probably get us across the river. The ship'll be too big.
Raelynn: frowns
Talwin: Smelling so bad?
Indigo: We all won't fit on a fishing boat
Talwin: Ah
Talwin: Nods in understanding
Raelynn: If I'm becoming more pirate-y, is Yout becoming more... I dunno, prettier? Glittery? Elvish-y??
Talwin: I'm the Glittery. Just ask Bixi
Raelynn: I mean, maybe you can get some skiffs? The knarr would get stuck in a place like that. Right Howard?
Howard Plum: There aren't proper docks that I know of
Raelynn: So does that mean you want some of the glitter lotion, Talwin? Or did you steal some of it from me already??
Talwin: We could probably rig up cargo space with cots at the cost of less supplies
Talwin: Nods
Talwin: I think we can use the fishing boat
Talwin: It's only a short trip
Talwin: It'll not smell the most pleasant, but we can make this work
Talwin: Hopefully it will be a quicker journey
Indigo: It's probably all aired out by now
Talwin: Shudder
Talwin: Indigo, I think fish smell never truly departs a vessel
Talwin: Even after being sprayed by ammonia
Indigo: Oh I thought you meant the dragon gas
Talwin: Oh, no. I might even prefer that to fish
Talwin: Grins broadly
Indigo: laughs
Talwin: When we get back to town, I can do some quick research before we go. Figure out what items might be beneficial and get some accurate maps
Talwin: See if anyone knows about these fire gems
Raelynn: What else do you need to know? Find the newts, take some gems, come back quick before she leaves.
Howard Plum: sits back quietly pondering the nature of Talwin's quest
After the group arrives back at Bort’s Beach, Talwin discusses his quest with as many townspeople as he can in order to try to discover any helpful information.
Here is what he asked and the consensus opinion of what he was told.
Talwin: 1. What does a fire gem look like, where it might be found, and what obstacles will be involved in its retrieval?
Townsfolk: Fire gems are legendary very rare items that few people have seen, rumored to be very valuable to mages
Talwin: 2. Will I need a special storage solution to hold them without burning anything?
Townsfolk: No one knows.
Talwin: 3. Where is the Fire Swamp?
Townsfolk: across the Narva river
Talwin: 4. What gear would be helpful in navigating the Swamp
Townsfolk: skiffs might help but it is a fire swamp
Talwin: 5. What creatures are native or are dangerous in said swamp
Townsfolk: normal snakes, reptiles and fire newts. Dragons are likely only a rumor
Talwin: 6. What is a fire newt. Is that code for dragon
Townsfolk: fire newts... they have never seen any, they are rumored to live in steamy locations
Talwin: 7. Do Fire Gems have a half life?
Townsfolk: No clue
the group will pick up with us venturing into the swamps looking for .... fire gems, from fire newts, in a fire swamp
