The group starts off mooring the boat in a fishing village in Fischl

Fischl is the Barony that borders the Fire Swamps

We are on the river pulling into a small fishing village, the people back at Bort’s Beach told you this would be the closest you could get to the Fire Swamps without an experienced guide, and it was rare that people went into there

A large human woman waves you over to a dock

Flihisz Dungrake: HO here,

Indigo: Hello!

Flihisz Dungrake: Who needs a space?

Flihisz Dungrake: What do you have to off load?

Indigo: We do and ... us?

Flihisz Dungrake: HAH! Who is us?

Daphene: That's the King's Bounder you're talking to!

Indigo: I'm Indigo and this is Craigh and Licornah and Bixi and Daphene and ... everyone

Flihisz Dungrake: Who's Bounder? which King?

Indigo: Oh and Howard

Howard Plum: frowns

Indigo: Sorry Howard

Indigo: The King of Gold Hills but I'm not acting as Bounder at the moment

Youtargim: At least he said your name Howard

Flihisz Dungrake: Ahh

Flihisz Dungrake: So you are a foreigner

Indigo: Ohhh ... and Youtargim! So many people!

Flihisz Dungrake: Welcome to Fischl

Indigo: Branwyn is better at that stuff. I am sorry

Craigh: Craigh murmurs, “I'm special. I was first.”

Flihisz Dungrake: Who is Branwyn?

Daphene: You know, Howard, Rae never forgets about you. You must be really important to her.

Flihisz Dungrake: Looking over the group

Indigo: Oh she's not here. Just my friend who is better at remembering than me

Craigh: grins

Flihisz Dungrake: OK then,

Flihisz Dungrake: So you are bringing in.... people?

Howard Plum: looks happier at Daphene's words

Flihisz Dungrake: The Baron does not take to slavers

Indigo: No slaves!

Indigo: We need to go to the fire swamp

Flihisz Dungrake: Need to? or want to?

Indigo: Need to I guess. I wouldn't just go there to go there

Bixi Fizzlebang: Boy, it's a good thing Talwin is busy helping Zayden oil his rods or whatever... he would not have liked that question

Flihisz Dungrake: Most people coming here without a cargo are hoping to take a cargo away

Flihisz Dungrake: Some of them never return

Flihisz Dungrake: What do I do with your boat if you do not return?

Indigo: We have to return. We're on a quest!

Bixi Fizzlebang: Yep, that sounds like us! Heading into somewhere we probably won't return from!

Flihisz Dungrake: Well a Quest does sound important

Flihisz Dungrake: We get all sorts here, the young nobles who are off on a lark,

Indigo: Our friend Talwin needs to go to the fire swamp to obtain something for his sword mastery

Flihisz Dungrake: Better off exploring the Cordrawn Hills in my opinion, fewer things to stew you there

Reven / Lipthink (giant sword): Maybe we want to get stewed

Flihisz Dungrake: Well if you are looking for something specific like that you need to talk to Ranger Blackmark

Howard Plum: But the Cordrawn Hills has many dragons. I am not sure it is much better

Indigo: Ohh a ranger Daphene!

Indigo: Where can we find them?

Daphene: Oooh, maybe I would learn something from them!

Flihisz Dungrake: You can find him over at the Scalded Fish

Flihisz Dungrake: Just one set of houses in from the docks

Indigo: Thank you!

Indigo: It is all right to dock the boat here?

Flihisz Dungrake: Glad to

Flihisz Dungrake: If you do not come back in a week I get to sell it?

Indigo: She's the ... Dead Sea Cow

Flihisz Dungrake: Or how long do you think you will be

Daphene: Give us two weeks!

Flihisz Dungrake: Nice name!

Indigo: Two weeks would be best

Daphene: Isn't that how long she told us? Two weeks?

Indigo: nods

Flihisz Dungrake: If you think you can make it there for two weeks I will let you try that. If you do return you will have to pay the docking fee, but only if you return

Daphene: That's very kind of you!

Indigo: Thank you!

Flihisz Dungrake: Gestures to a small fancy boat at the nearby dock

Flihisz Dungrake: Planning on selling that over at The City later this week

Flihisz Dungrake: Those noble brats never returned

Craigh: Who was the owner?

Flihisz Dungrake: has been three weeks

Flihisz Dungrake: Some Lord Hightower

Indigo: Hightower?

Flihisz Dungrake: Shrugs

Howard Plum: Lord Sam?

Flihisz Dungrake: They give what ever name they think will impress

Flihisz Dungrake: Lord Sam?

Flihisz Dungrake: You mean King Samuel?

Flihisz Dungrake: When I was a young lass I heard the King lived here in The City before taking the throne

Howard Plum: King? He made it?

Indigo: Yay! Good for Sam!

Flihisz Dungrake: Well he is King

Bixi Fizzlebang: How many kings are you friends with, Indigo?

Indigo: Oh he wasn't a king when we knew him

Indigo: He was the ward of Prince Loplin of Dryads Lair

Flihisz Dungrake: You know King Samuel?

Indigo: We found out his parentage and then he was possible to be king or a prince

Flihisz Dungrake: Prince Loplin, that is an old name too

Bixi Fizzlebang: Can't be much older than six years, give or take...

Flihisz Dungrake: Princess Joselin is in charge of The City now

Indigo: Hmmm

Flihisz Dungrake: You must have been out in the wilderness a while to remember those names

Flihisz Dungrake: Maybe you will survive the swamps

Indigo: Oh sure I live right near a swamp

Bixi Fizzlebang: If you don't mind... the people who come back from the swamps... do they generally still have all their fingers?

Flihisz Dungrake: I would say that they mostly have most of their fingers and toes

Flihisz Dungrake: But you should talk with Ranger Blackmark about that

Indigo: Will do

Indigo: grabs his pack to head over to the Scalded Fish place

Flihisz Dungrake: The Scalded Fish Inn can put you up for the night maybe

The group enters the Scalded Fish Inn.

Siany Lamagnon: Welcome weary travelers

Siany Lamagnon: How are you this afternoon

Siany Lamagnon: Are you here for some fish stew?

Indigo: Not weary but thank you and hello

Daphene: Very excited!

Indigo: I'd like some stew please

Siany Lamagnon: Excited is good!

Bixi Fizzlebang: Fish stew sounds delicious

Siany Lamagnon: Stew is good too

Bixi Fizzlebang: What is your name?

Siany Lamagnon: It is spicy

Siany Lamagnon: I am Siany

Siany Lamagnon: How much spice can you handle?

Howard Plum: Not much for me please ...

Craigh: I'm going to need some bread, I'm guessing.

Bixi Fizzlebang: Slightly more than Howard

Siany Lamagnon: Well I can make sure your trencher is full, and I will get you some goats milk

Siany Lamagnon: Just in case

Bixi Fizzlebang: nods appreciatively

Siany Lamagnon: She brings back a tray with a round of bread filled with a spicy fish stew

Indigo: This looks great.

The hungry group digs into the spicy stew.

Youtargim: [CHECK] Constitution (vs. Target 10) [FAILURE by 7] [d20 = 17]

Daphene: [CHECK] Constitution (vs. Target 14) [SUCCESS by 2] [d20 = 12]

Licornah: [CHECK] Constitution (vs. Target 11) [FAILURE by 4] [d20 = 15]

Craigh: [CHECK] Constitution (vs. Target 9) [FAILURE by 11] [d20 = 20]

Indigo: [CHECK] Constitution (vs. Target 13) [SUCCESS by 5] [d20 = 8]

Bixi Fizzlebang: [CHECK] Constitution (vs. Target 12) [SUCCESS by 3] [d20 = 9]

Howard Plum: [CHECK] Constitution (vs. Target 15) [SUCCESS by 11] [d20 = 4]

So Youtargim, Licornah, and Craigh have a hard time with the stew

Howard asks for seconds

Licornah: Thank you for your... :: trails off ::

Craigh: Craigh tries a small bite, grimaces, and sets it back down immediately.

Howard Plum: This is very good

Siany Lamagnon: Thank you! warm smile for Howard

Bixi Fizzlebang: Perfect amount of spice!

Siany Lamagnon: It is a pepper found in the Fire Swamps

Bixi Fizzlebang: Ooooh, if it grows in the swamps, maybe it will grow back home!

Siany Lamagnon: When you dry it out, it give things just that extra kick

Howard Plum: You should keep an eye out for those when we're there

Bixi Fizzlebang: Would you mind showing it to me?

Siany Lamagnon: They say it can make a stone sweat

Siany Lamagnon: Certainly, it is called the Alexandria Pepper

Bixi Fizzlebang: [SKILL] Botany [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 15) [SUCCESS by 6] [d20 = 9]

Bixi Fizzlebang: It's named after Talwin's weapon master?

Siany Lamagnon: Who and what?

Bixi Fizzlebang: Alexandria?

Bixi Fizzlebang: The pepper is named after an Alexandria? Or maybe it's just a common name here

Siany Lamagnon: Nods, that is the name of the pepper, it grows in the Fire Swamps, they say that the Fire newts gather them for cooling a fever

Siany Lamagnon: I never thought of a person it might be named after

Siany Lamagnon: But my grandmother called it that so maybe it is an old legend?

Bixi Fizzlebang: I mean, Alexandria the person was definitely spicy

Licornah: So the pepper came first or the trainer?

Bixi Fizzlebang: Not sure she's old enough to have a pepper named after her. But should be a good way to find the fire newts, maybe!

Siany Lamagnon: I would guess the pepper? I do not know of any trainers

Licornah: :: Nods :: That seems logical

Indigo: Is there a Ranger Blackmark here?

Siany Lamagnon: If you are looking to go into the Fire Swamps you need

Siany Lamagnon: Exactly!

Indigo: grins

Bixi Fizzlebang: Sorry Indigo... you know I am easily distracted by plants

Siany Lamagnon: Bredin will be able to help you

Siany Lamagnon: He knows every inch of those swamps

Indigo: No ... maybe the ranger knows about the peppers too!

Siany Lamagnon: Gestures to the far corner, there he is, you can go ask him

Over in the corner, there is a young man, with his leg up on a table, wrapped in bandages

Howard Plum: wonders why rangers always seem to sit in dark corners by themselves

Bixi Fizzlebang: wonders how he's going to guide us with an injured leg

Indigo: Looks like he needs healing

Bredin Blackmark: Looks up as you arrive

Bredin Blackmark: Hello there,

Bredin Blackmark: Sorry if I do not get up, smiles and nods to the ladies

Indigo: Hello! Did you hurt yourself in the fire swamp?

Bredin Blackmark: Yes I did indeed

Indigo: I'm sorry for that.

Bredin Blackmark: almost lost my leg in one of the steam pits

Indigo: I'm Indigo.

Indigo: Steam pit?

Bredin Blackmark: Hello Indigo

Bredin Blackmark: I am Bredin

Bredin Blackmark: There are pits that are scalding hot

Bredin Blackmark: I was not careful and stepped in one as I was running away from a ... well

Indigo: We have healers that might be able to help you with that

Bredin Blackmark: I will survive

Indigo: Running away from what?

Bredin Blackmark: That would be a wonderful thing

Bredin Blackmark: The priest said I need a .. Heal spell... something that I need to travel to the Celestry for

Bredin Blackmark: but I do not have the funds for the trip let alone the donation for the healing

Indigo: You don't have to go that far!

Indigo: looks back at Bixi and Licornah

Bredin Blackmark: Looking at the Elves and Gnome

Licornah: :: looks at him :: Do you mind if I examine you?

Bredin Blackmark: Not at all

Licornah: [SKILL] Anatomy (vs. Target 15) [SUCCESS by 2] [d20 = 13]

Bredin Blackmark: Pulls back the wrappings on his left leg

Licornah: [SKILL] Healing (vs. Target 18) [SUCCESS by 17] [d20 = 1]

Licornah can see that his left leg is scaled almost to the bone, there is no skin left in areas, some of the muscle looks medium well done

This needs a full reconstruction

a Heal spell to replace what is missing

Licornah: :: Nods and stands :: Thank you. I agree with the assessment, unfortunately, this is beyond my powers. I can offer healing, but the “Heal” will be of better use

Bredin Blackmark: Thank you

Bredin Blackmark: At least I do not feel it

Bredin Blackmark: The priest said that is because it is dead

Licornah: Your muscle is severely injured.

Bredin Blackmark: They offered to cut it off, but I said I would rather try to recover

Bredin Blackmark: It has been two weeks so far

Indigo: Hmmm ...

Bredin Blackmark: I have heard about some new special chair some people in The City use

Bredin Blackmark: Helps them get around without crutches

Licornah: How far away is this Celestry? What Deity?

Bredin Blackmark: Those would sink in the swamps

Indigo: We were thinking of going to Dryads Lair soon. Maybe we could help you with that

Bredin Blackmark: Maybe a chair would not, I could put little rails under it, slide it along like a skiff

Bredin Blackmark: Well that is in the future

Bredin Blackmark: tell me why you came over to find me

Craigh: Craigh leans his elbow on the table and listens to the conversation.

Indigo: Well ... we came to look for a guide to the fire swamps

Indigo: But that doesn't seem like a good idea

Daphene: Mr. Blackmark, do you have any tips for new rangers just starting out?

Bredin Blackmark: I can help you with the Fire Swamps,

Bredin Blackmark: at least give you some pointers if you know where you want to go

Bredin Blackmark: and for you young lady.... why do you want to be a Ranger?

Bredin Blackmark: So where do you want to go in the Fire Swamps?

Daphene: Rangers get to see all the excitement

Bredin Blackmark: There can be a lot of excitement I agree

Bredin Blackmark: OUCH, you bit me!

Daphene: I didn't mean to!

Daphene: looks confused

Bredin Blackmark: Reaches up and pulls out a small possum from his cloak

Bredin Blackmark: Sorry she was a bit too interested in my lunch

Bredin Blackmark: Or maybe it was the talk of traveling and excitement that got her moving again

Bredin Blackmark: She normally sleeps during the days

Bredin Blackmark: Looks at the group,

Bredin Blackmark: So why are you trying to venture into the Fire Swamps?

Craigh: Apparently not enough things have tried to kill us lately.

Bredin Blackmark: Well you will be able to change that soon enough

Craigh: Great!

Craigh: Looking forward to it.

Indigo: Our friend Talwin is trying to get his sword mastery but he can't unless he gets fire gems from the fire swamp

Bredin Blackmark: Uff

Bredin Blackmark: really shooting for the big stuff I guess

Indigo: Are fire gems big?

Bredin Blackmark: Can he settle for Drake eggs?

Indigo: What's a Drake?

Bredin Blackmark: Might find a nest of those that are not guarded

Bredin Blackmark: Drakes are like Dragons but smaller

Indigo: She said it was to power her lighthouse or something

Daphene: forge maybe?

Bredin Blackmark: If you are lucky you can get them to chase you then you steal their eggs and hold them hostage

Indigo: Uh oh. Raelynn will want a small dragon

Craigh: Dibs on not feeding or cleaning up after it!

Indigo: That doesn't sound nice. Holding baby dragons hostage

Bredin Blackmark: Well you want Fire Eggs

Indigo: No fire gems

Bredin Blackmark: Those are guarded by the Fire newt priests

Indigo: Aren't fire newts just lizards?

Bredin Blackmark: Fire Eggs, Fire Gems are just Fire Eggs that have not been brought forth.....

Daphene: Maybe we can find some of those plants the Story Teller is so interested in and use them to trade/lure/bribe the fire newts?

Bredin Blackmark: Ummm what do you call it when you get someone pregnant

Bredin Blackmark: insep?

Bredin Blackmark: Incin?

Indigo: In trouble?

Howard Plum: Inseminated perhaps

Bredin Blackmark: Yeah I think that is it

Licornah: [SKILL] Anatomy (vs. Target 15) [SUCCESS by 0] [d20 = 15]

Bixi Fizzlebang: So they haven't lain the eggs yet

Bredin Blackmark: The Fire newt priestess take the Fire Gems and Inseminate? them that makes them Fire Eggs, at least that is what I have heard everyone call them

Bredin Blackmark: I think some one...? lays them, then they bake them

Bredin Blackmark: heat them

Bredin Blackmark: and then do that thing he said

Bredin Blackmark: and they change from gems to eggs

Indigo: So we want them when they are still gems and not eggs?

Bredin Blackmark: Do you?

Bixi Fizzlebang: How dangerous are these newts?

Bredin Blackmark: The eggs are really valuable

Indigo: She said gems and not eggs so

Indigo: Do fire eggs become baby fire newts?

Bixi Fizzlebang: I'm sure she was purposeful in her words. It's definitely the gems

Bredin Blackmark: The eggs hatch and become Fire newts yes

Craigh: Craigh is merely wondering if Fire newt skin would make a good book cover.

Bixi Fizzlebang: So what would we have to do to get the gems? Kill a newt and take it from inside?

Bredin Blackmark: So if you are trying for Fire Gems and not Fire Eggs you will need to steal them away from the Priests before they can insemilate them

Bixi Fizzlebang: The priests won't bargain for them?

Bredin Blackmark: I have not seen someone kill a Fire newt and cut them open for that

Bredin Blackmark: I have seen a few who have stolen the Gems

Bredin Blackmark: but most try to get the Eggs

Bredin Blackmark: Then hatch them themselves

Bixi Fizzlebang: So what do we need to know about these priests?

Bredin Blackmark: Wizards like that

Bredin Blackmark: The Fire newt Priests are a powerful group

so the new quick summary of what you are dealing with. Evil Fire newts, intelligent enough to have Priests, you are trying to steal Fire gems, something that the Priest then inseminate and turn into Fire Eggs which will hatch into Fire newts. The Fire Eggs are the very rare valuable thing that Wizards are in search of (according to your ranger and Howard can guess is correct) and you are trying to find Fire Gems to get them before the Priests turn them into Fire Eggs

Craigh: It's only 3, and we don't have to hurt any of these fire newts to get them, if I'm hearing right.

Craigh: So they can just lay more.

Bredin waits while the group thinks of many questions to ask.

Indigo: What do the steam pits look like so we don't step in any?

Indigo: We came over in a fishing boat. Can we get skiffs or can we walk without them?

Licornah: Sir, a few questions if I may. Do you have or can you help us draw a map -- to find the safest route?

Licornah: Are you aware of anything the Fire Newts value to try and barter or trade?

Licornah: Is there equipment or materials that would make our journey less dangerous?

Daphene: (quietly) Wow, Licornah is so smart!

Daphene: taking mental notes

Licornah: Besides Drakes, Dragons, and normal swamp creatures -- are there creatures we should be aware of (avoid?)

Bixi Fizzlebang: Do these fire lizards fear anything?

Bixi Fizzlebang: Are there any helpful plants in the swamp that would be useful to us if we get injured?

Licornah: :: nods along with Bixi ::

Bredin Blackmark: Well you sound like you have a good plan

Bixi Fizzlebang: Wait, do we have a plan? I must have missed that

Bredin Blackmark: You cannot get a boat into the Fire Swamps so that is a good thing to leave here, I would guess that skiffs might help in some area but they will not be needed for most of the trip, the Fire newts do not like to swim everywhere. They can but they prefer to walk along in the marshes

Bredin Blackmark: The Fire newts would bargain with you for a slave or two, they are always looking for labor, the Fire Swamps take a toll on most people

Bredin Blackmark: The best thing you can do to avoid the steam pits is to be careful of the crusts, they get a yellow scum that hardens on them, then when it gets too hot they WHOOOSH

Bredin Blackmark: The one I fell into was hidden by some branches

Bredin Blackmark: a whole tree went up when I broke it

Indigo: Ouch!

Bredin Blackmark: I have never heard of any good plants in the Fire Swamps, well except for that devil pepper she cooks with

Bredin Blackmark: I can tell you how to get to one of the nurseries for the Fire Eggs

Bredin Blackmark: If you get there before the Priests insemilate the Fire Gems

Bredin Blackmark: then you can steal them

Indigo: That would be good

Indigo: Do they sleep at night?

Bredin Blackmark: The fire newts do sleep

Bixi Fizzlebang: What do they eat?

Bredin Blackmark: Just about everything

Bredin Blackmark: So I have a map to a pre-nesting site

Bredin Blackmark: It is near one of their pyramids

Bredin Blackmark: There is a problem with it though

Indigo: Wow! They build pyramids in a swamp?

Bredin Blackmark: Yeah it is one of the few things that does not burn

Howard Plum: Indigo, don't interrupt. What is the problem with the pre-nesting site?

Bredin Blackmark: Not a problem with the pre-nesting site, it is the map

Bredin Blackmark: I had to hide it

Bredin Blackmark: when I got hurt

Indigo: So can we get a map to the map?

Craigh: So it's in the swamp?

Bredin Blackmark: It should be easy to find

Craigh: “should”

Bredin Blackmark: You just need to go straight southwest, I hid it in a salamander pool

Bredin Blackmark: the tablet should be just fine there for you

Indigo: Wouldn't it be all wet sitting in a pool?

Bredin Blackmark: Yeap

Bredin Blackmark: that is why you use stone

Bredin Blackmark: will not burn

Craigh: Are these tiny harmless lizard salamanders, or magical fiery murderous salamanders?

Indigo: you walk around with a stone map?

Indigo: Never seen one of those

Bredin Blackmark: That is a nice description of them Craigh

Craigh: which one?

Bredin Blackmark: Just watch out for the lances

Bredin Blackmark: They can really burn

Craigh: Got it. Second one.

Craigh: Why am I not surprised?

Bixi Fizzlebang: lances? Like scorpion tails?

Bredin Blackmark: Like what she has, points to Licornah

Bredin Blackmark: Maybe a bit more of a barb on the end

Craigh: How did you manage to hide it there *after* you got your leg nearly burned off?

Bredin Blackmark: I was running and hid the map, then I got scalded just after the pool

Bredin Blackmark: I managed to avoid the salamanders, I got too cocky

Bredin Blackmark: I am not sure anyone else has ever seen that gathering nest

Bredin Blackmark: It is well hidden behind a wall of stone rings

Craigh: Due southwest, you say?

Bredin Blackmark: If you go straight southwest, you will find a handful of islands, once there look for the stone pillar, it was from some previous attempt to settle in the Fire Swamps

Bredin Blackmark: From that pillar it is a half mile to the salamander pool

Craigh: Still southwest?

Bredin Blackmark: Yes, 2,142 steps

Craigh: Mind if I ask a tactless question?

Bredin Blackmark: Certainly but ask away

Craigh: Is that 2,142 regular steps, or 2,142 'staggering because half your leg has been burnt off' steps?

Bredin Blackmark: LAUGHS

Bredin Blackmark: LAUGHS

Bredin Blackmark: You have a good point

Bredin Blackmark: I would say more along the lines of some regular steps of sinking in the swamps and some staggering dragging a leg behind you

Craigh: Perfect, thank you. I think I have the numbers for that in my almanac.

Bixi Fizzlebang: So it's a completely useless metric. Got it.

Bredin Blackmark: I did almost pass out before I got to the edge of town

Bredin Blackmark: They found me laying in a pool of water just off of the river

Bredin Blackmark: I kept on muttering that number

Bredin Blackmark: is what Sianny said

Bredin Blackmark: She asked me what it meant and why it was so important

Bredin Blackmark: I told her someday I would go back to there

Craigh: You're a very stubborn person, I'm guessing.

Bredin Blackmark: Strokes the possum, with a wry grin

Bredin Blackmark: I would say I do not give up

Bredin Blackmark: I find a way

Bredin Blackmark: Stubborn sounds like you know you will fail and try anyways

Bixi Fizzlebang: That's not stubborn, that's resilient and determined!

Bredin Blackmark: I think there is always a way to make it work

Bredin Blackmark: Nods with Bixi

Indigo: We'll help you when we get back

Bredin Blackmark: I hope you do not find too much trouble there in the Fire Swamps

Bixi Fizzlebang: Can't we help him now? I mean he's given us so much and asked for nothing

Bredin Blackmark: You said this was a quest for a friend, who really needs this

Bredin Blackmark: It must be important for you to do this for him

Indigo: It'll only take a couple days to get the gems and to take Bredin to Dryads Lair will take longer

Bredin Blackmark: You would help someone in that situation

Indigo: It is important to him and we try to help almost everyone when we can

Licornah: [SKILL] Healing (vs. Target 18) [FAILURE by 2] [d20 = 20]

Bixi Fizzlebang: [SKILL] Healing [2] [MOD:WIS] (vs. Target 11) [SUCCESS by 3] [d20 = 8]

So between Licornah and Bixi they both confer and see that the leg is not going to heal on its own, but the bandages are keeping it clean

They can see that he can use more healing, cure spells, but you have to decide what to or if to cast before heading into the swamps this afternoon

Rae, Licornah and Bixi each do one Orison for Bredin

He is very grateful

And so the group heads out into the Fire Swamp based on Ranger Bredin’s directions to the map.

Craigh: Southwest, islands, tower, 2,142 agonizing staggers further.

The time is 5:00 PM

The date is Ced____de, 4th Din (Spring), 359 SKR

Young Moon's phase is Evening Crescent

Old Moon's phase is Waning Gibbous

Weather Report; Location: Dryads Lair Principality; Forest, Mid Spring; Day 4, Evening; Precipitation: Light Rain; Wind: Low Winds; Temperature: Cold 48F / 9C

the water seems to be about 1 to 2 foot deep in this area

Bixi, Daphene on the one bank, Indigo on the other

Daphene: Hey there's a statue here!

Craigh: tries not to trip over a branch in the dark

Dragonet, Fire Drake bites Daphene and blows fire at her, moderately wounding her.

Daphene: AAHHHHHHHHHHHH

Daphene: This adventure suuuuucks!

Howard Plum casts Magic Missile at Dragonet, Fire Drake, heavily wounding him.

Indigo runs over and hits Dragonet, Fire Drake with his short sword, killing him. In the process, the dragonet spews some fire at Indigo, lightly wounding him.

Raelynn: Aww but it was kinda cute...

Daphene: IT ALMOST MURDERED ME

Craigh: What was it?

Indigo: Baby dragon thing

Indigo: A drake I think Bredin called it

Raelynn: Well did you check for traps? Maybe we just startled it.

Indigo: Interesting statue though

Daphene: Are there traps in a fire swamp?

Daphene: makes a mental note

Raelynn: Wasn't that one?

Raelynn: Should I bind its wound...? No, no you all might not want that...

Daphene: I don't know, how can you tell?

Licornah: :: glances at Daphene, but says nothing ::

Raelynn: shrugs

Raelynn: I'm a priestess. I use magic. N'laea uses... I dunno, elven senses or something.

Raelynn: Or maybe her dislike of being surprise gets so focused on traps she can find them.

Indigo: There's probably traps near the nest site

Daphene: nods at Indigo

The statue is of a humanoid that is weather worn, the face gone, it looks like maybe a warrior standing with a sword in front of it?

Daphene: See, that makes more sense

Raelynn: If this is like a baby dragon... is it intelligent? Can we talk to them if there are more?

Indigo: Awww Talwin would like this statue

Daphene: It kind of looks like Talwin

speaking of which this must be the one that you were told about

Indigo: Raelynn, it just blew fire in Daphene's face

Raelynn: sighs

Raelynn: I know, I know, but I like cute things, sorry.

Indigo: If you want to go talk to one that's fine but it can't be hurting people

Youtargim: Smiles

Daphene: That thing is NOT cute

Raelynn: Well not anymore. Indigo is... effective when something hurts his friends.

Indigo: So this tablet map is supposed to be close by?

Raelynn: Is it just a boring old tablet? Or is it something magic could sense?

Craigh: 2,142 staggers southwest

Indigo: Oh we stagger from here

Indigo: I thought it was from before

Indigo: The tablet is the map to the fire gem egg nest place

Raelynn: If only there was some unit of measurement that made perfect sense, one you could just multiple by 10 or something for bigger units.

Daphene: But how would you accurately use such a thing in this muck?

Raelynn: Carefully.

Craigh: Don't you outdoorsy types just have magic senses that can tell direction and distance?

Daphene: Thanks for saving me, Howard and Indigo

Craigh: is the drake dead?

Indigo: No problem. Sorry it got you so bad

Indigo: Yes

Daphene: I should have been paying more attention

Craigh: Anybody mind if I check it for useful components or potion ingredients?

Indigo: We shouldn't have let you go first by yourself

Indigo: Nope. You can have him!

Indigo: grins
