Ratbone Carder: strummy strum strum
Ratbone Carder: Brother o brother, where art thou? You have always had a face like a cow!
Ratbone Carder: Brother o brother, where are you at? In the mornings your face is like a bat
Vee Barlett: hands Levi the wooden door key
BOB Vee could make any checks you feel appropriate
Vee Barlett: [SKILL] Observation [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 12) [FAILURE by 7] [d20 = 19]
Vee Barlett: [SKILL] Ranger Tracking [2] [MOD:WIS] (vs. Target 15) [SUCCESS by 13] [d20 = 2]
Vee Barlett: [CHECK] Wisdom (vs. Target 14) [SUCCESS by 2] [d20 = 12]
Vee Barlett: [CHECK] Intelligence (vs. Target 12) [SUCCESS by 2] [d20 = 10]
Vee Barlett: [SKILL] Swimming [MOD:STR] (vs. Target 14) [SUCCESS by 3] [d20 = 11]
-> Vee Barlett: Vee can see that this is an active cave system with "things" walking and moving around so if you camp down here you have to be ready to defend your selves all day long
Vee Barlett: If we camp here, we're gonna be on the defense for the whole time. Ain't sure that's smart.
Vee Barlett: Lots of walking around on this main path. See?
MeLange: kind of like an intersection of the paths, a bit like that
Vee Barlett: Maybe y'all should look at them structures or that staff or that potion, yeah?
MeLange: [SKILL] Alertness [MOD:WIS] (vs. Target 10) [SUCCESS by 9] [d20 = 1]
Lirtimya: [SKILL] Observation [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 16) [SUCCESS by 3] [d20 = 13]
Vee Barlett: [SKILL] Sage Knowledge, Island Kingdoms [MOD:CHA] (vs. Target 10) [SUCCESS by 5] [d20 = 5]
-> Vee Barlett: Vee could guess because the waterfalls were flowing that upstream from both of them would be the hardest for things to get to from inside the caves
Vee Barlett: Or set up trip wires.
Vee Barlett: Upstream from the waterfalls might be best 'cause it's hardest for things to get to from inside the cave.
MeLange: Levi think you can make it there?
Vee Barlett: Anyways, uh... I don't think I'm over that bug yet just... gimme a minute....
Vee Barlett: rushes off
MeLange: been there before
-> Lirtimya: Lirt can guess because water flows downhill that all three of these passageways go deeper into the cave system
Ratbone Carder: [SKILL] Observation [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 13) [FAILURE by 7] [d20 = 20]
MeLange: [SKILL] Alertness [MOD:WIS] (vs. Target 10) [FAILURE by 4] [d20 = 14]
MeLange: [SKILL] Alertness [MOD:WIS] (vs. Target 10) [SUCCESS by 4] [d20 = 6]
Lirtimya: Well, since water runs down going upstream would also be a good idea, assuming we don't want to go deeper
MeLange: I think upstream would be for the best
BOB The Group is currently at the four way intersection
BOB You have that 30 foot waterfall to find a way up
BOB Ratbone is there at the top
BOB Telling you that Matty is still up top with the mule
BOB You are at the waterfall
Ratbone Carder: Ahem. What Is Taking So Long?
Ratbone Carder: shrugs
Ratbone Carder: shouts down
Ratbone Carder: What. Is. Taking. So. Long?
Levi Reed: WE FOUND A FUNGUS MONSTER!
Ratbone Carder: EW!
Ratbone Carder: DO ANY OF YOU WANT TO COME UP? NEED A ROPE?
-> Temperance: Botany would let you know it is a Shambling Mound
-> Levi Reed: Botany would let you know it is a Shambling Mound
Ratbone Carder: makes a big pantomime of dropping a rope
Ratbone Carder: WHY DON'T I DROP A ROPE ANYWAY AND ANYONE WHO CAN'T USE IT, JUST MAKE RUDE SIGNS?!?!
Rothuss Carder: IS THERE SOMETHING TO TIE IT OFF ON?
The time is 8:00 AM
Levi Reed: LOOKS LIKE ROTHUSS HAS AN IDEA... SO YEAH, PLEASE DROP ONE END OF THE ROPE... THERE'S A KEY TO SHUT OFF THIS WATERFALL, AFTER HE KNOCKS HIMSELF OUT, I'M GOING TO TIE IT TO THE ROPE AND YOU CAN PULL IT UP AND TURN THIS OFF SO WE CAN GET OUT
Ratbone Carder: WAIT, I DON'T HAVE A ROPE?!?! WHAT'S THE POINT OF A KIT WITH NO ROPE?
Levi Reed: USE THE ONE VEE LEFT UP THERE!
Ratbone Carder: OH!!!
Jericho: Slaps his face at the conversation out of sight of the group
Ratbone Carder: [SKILL] Rope Use [MOD:DEX] (vs. Target 13) [SUCCESS by 2] [d20 = 11]
Ratbone Carder: getting the rope off the mule, tying it off on a tree trunk, sending the loose end down
Jericho: Here Ratbone, you will need this! Good luck
Jericho: Takes Key with Smile
Jericho: Passes it to Ratbone
Ratbone Carder: THANKS FOR THE KEY!
Ratbone Carder: looking around for the shutoff
Levi Reed: THERE'S A DOOR NEXT TO THE WATERFALL
The tunnel drops precipitously down to a lower elevation, falling about thirty feet through a very narrow channel. There is no gap on either side of the water, and only about two feet of clearance in the channel that is not filled with rushing, gurgling water. On one side of the tunnel there is a round wooden indentation, like a door, and on the other side there is a small keyhole.
Concealed by the waterfall's flow, there is a wooden-runged ladder, apparently formed by natural growth of roots, leading down the cliff face where the waterfall normally flows. It is easy to descend this ladder.
Ratbone Carder: puts the key in the keyhole and gently tries to turn it
Ratbone Carder: my luck, i snap this sucker right off in the lock
BOB So Jericho ties off the key to the rope, Levi yells up to Ratbone and she uses the key to turn off the waterfall
Ratbone Carder: (singing) turn, turn, turn, little key
Ratbone Carder: please turn off the water for me
Levi Reed: Let's goooooo
BOB So the waterfall is off for a short bit
Levi Reed: climbs up the ladder thingy
Rothuss Carder: Alley up, everyone!
Ratbone Carder: OKAY THERE YA GO HURRY!
MeLange: follow Levi up the ladder
MeLange: glad to be out of there!
Temperance: nods silently in agreement
Levi Reed: No alley, Rothuss, just the same cave as before
Rothuss Carder: tries to go up the ladder after Jericho
MeLange: Come on Jeri!
Rothuss Carder: pushes Jericho to climb
BOB So Rothuss and Jericho are at the bottom
BOB AND now Rothuss can make an encounter check
BOB Rothuss can make any checks he thinks will help then can make the encounter check
There is a four-way intersection here. In the middle of the intersection a large growth of wood, apparently of natural origin, divides the flow of the river into three parts, diverting it so that a channel of water runs down the center of the other tunnels, all of which slope gradually downward from this point.
BOB potential ambush
Rothuss Carder: [CHECK] Wisdom (vs. Target 9) [FAILURE by 8] [d20 = 17]
BOB So Rothuss can roll a d20 for the encounter
Rothuss Carder: [d20 = 8]
BOB So Rothuss gets a feeling that there is something large coming from the "east"
BOB Dex check for Jericho then
Jericho: [CHECK] Dexterity (vs. Target 7) [FAILURE by 3] [d20 = 10]
Rothuss Carder: Up you go, choir boy!
BOB THUD
BOB He slips and falls in his hurry to get up
GM: [2d6 = 4]
BOB taking 4 points of damage
BOB You are in a hurry so Rothuss does not get eaten
BOB You can try again now
MeLange chuckles a little
MeLange: Come on Jeri you can do it!
Temperance: blinks at the echoing thud
BOB Jericho has to climb a wet ladder up 30 feet and get out of the way in time for Rothuss to also do the same thing before what ever is coming up that hallway reaches this area
Rothuss Carder: Just climb the ladder. No rush, no hurry, hand over hand. It's simple.
Jericho: [CHECK] Dexterity (vs. Target 7) [FAILURE by 8] [d20 = 15]
Jericho's health adjusted by -4
Ratbone Carder: can we get that rope down to him?
Jericho: [CHECK] Dexterity (vs. Target 7) [SUCCESS by 0] [d20 = 7]
MeLange: Breathe Jeri!
BOB You understand every time you roll and fail it is a 2d6 points fo damage for falling
GM: [2d6 = 10]
BOB so you take another 10 points
BOB but you make it to the top
MeLange: We got a lot of wounded people here you need to save Jeri!
Jericho's health adjusted by -10
BOB and pass out
MeLange chuckles
MeLange: oh Jeri
Temperance: brows furrow in slight concern
Temperance: What happened?
BOB You could have waited for someone to tie a rope off or for Rothuss to help you or something instead of just randomly rolling dice because you are frustrated
BOB But right now Jericho is up top
MeLange: he got frustrated n' his poor little heart couldn't take it
MeLange: he just needs a little lie down, he'll be fine, better than being down there that's for sure
BOB BUT he hit his head and is now unconscious luckily he did not go below zero so he is not walking wounded but he did lose all the rest of his spells for the day
BOB Now Rothuss can try
Rothuss Carder: Expeditious Retreat
Rothuss Carder: Climbs the ladder at triple speed
BOB Dex check for Rothuss
MeLange: Hey Rothuss, maybe a good idea to get out of there?
Rothuss Carder: [CHECK] Dexterity (vs. Target 14) [SUCCESS by 8] [d20 = 6]
BOB ZOOMS right up and out
BOB in fact so quick and fast make a pick pockets check
Rothuss Carder: [SKILL] Pick Pockets [PERCENT:Pick Pockets] (vs. Target 30) [FAILURE by 55] [d100 = 85]
BOB He reaches out to twist the key but misses
BOB But Ratbone can take care of that for him
The time is 8:15 AM
Spring (Ratbone Carder): do you need me to make a pick pocket check?
BOB Now you are all in that cave
BOB Now you can take a moment and think
Rothuss Carder: zips to the other side of the cave
MeLange: [SKILL] Alertness [MOD:WIS] (vs. Target 10) [FAILURE by 7] [d20 = 17]
BOB and Ratbone turns the waterfall back on
BOB so that might help stop things from coming up that way
MeLange: good idea Ratbone
BOB Jericho is walking around at 1 HP
BOB He has no spells but is not walking wounded
BOB he was knocked out
BOB and it just takes a few moments to recover and shake it off
BOB He went to exactly zero
BOB so not walking wounded as that means below zero but no spells because that means below 1
BOB Levi and Temperance are walking wounded
Levi Reed: Let's go check on the mule and camp with him, eh?
BOB Jericho and Melange are at 1 hp
BOB Jericho cannot cast spells
MeLange: Sounds good to me, pretty early though it's still morning
The tunnel down into the caverns winds along a narrow and uneven path, following the river's natural course. Stalactites hang low from the ceiling, and the rock floor is treacherously slippery from the splashing water. The subterranean air has a placid, piercing chill, all too familiar to veteran adventurers. Suddenly, the river-carven tunnel slopes abruptly downward, and just ahead there is the unmistakable sound of a waterfall dashing down to rocks below.
Levi Reed: Well, I have had enough for one day man... I can't really do much until I rest up this injury
MeLange: I know I just worry about your internal clock, you could be up all night
Levi Reed: Perfect, I'll keep watch at night
MeLange: Circadiaan rhythms, you don't wanna mess with em
BOB So with no rush you can make it up this ladder and into the outer cave
The time is 8:30 AM
MeLange: no rush guys, nice and easy!
Levi Reed: calmly climbs ladder
Levi Reed: looks around for the mule
MeLange: Follows Levi, enjoys the fresh air
Temperance: climbs up the ladder and glances around
Ratbone Carder: follows the others
MeLange: Glad to be out of that hole, I am a bit bummed we didn't get to find out what the box did. What was in the box you know?
Ratbone Carder: shrugs
Ratbone Carder: wish i knew
Jericho: Who cares
Levi Reed: I mean, we can go back in and check it out later, but I gotta rest first
MeLange: This one book said that until we open the box, anything could be inside. makes ya think
Ratbone Carder: anything? genies? dancers?
Levi Reed: We have to go back in anyway, the path is still blocked by the landslide, unless something incredible has changed in the last half hour
MeLange: could be
Jericho: Didn't that have something to do with leopords MeLange?
Jericho: Confused
Ratbone Carder: a rhinotopus?
MeLange: What about Leopards?
BOB Nope the path up and around to the church is still blocked by a landslide
Jericho: Leapords in boxes
Jericho: Wasn't that book about if the Leopord was in the box or not?
Jericho: Been awhile
MeLange: oh right!
Ratbone Carder: i heard if it fits, it sits
Jericho: Snaps fingers
Jericho: That's right
MeLange: it's both!
Jericho: That was the title
Jericho: Some sort of philisophical title about dimensions
MeLange: yea yea
MeLange: anyway
MeLange: maybe we should rest up Jericho, then you can heal Levi and maybe me too?
Jericho: Absolutely. So, what are we going to do for oh, 12 hours?
Ratbone Carder: i can't believe it's still morning
Jericho: Until we can rest?
MeLange: why can't we rest now?
BOB 22 hours
Jericho: Well, how far back was the landslide?
BOB you are AT the landslide
Jericho: Looks for birds
BOB This is the jungle area just south and above it
Jericho: You see any birds MeLange?
MeLange: Checks on Parry the Mule
BOB to the left where that stream is headed is into the caves
MeLange: looks up at the trees and sky
MeLange: [SKILL] Animal Lore [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 13) [FAILURE by 4] [d20 = 17]
Rothuss Carder: I wonder what the mule would look like with a hat on?
Jericho: My vision is a little blurry from my concussion, do you see any sort of animals?
MeLange: [SKILL] Alertness [MOD:WIS] (vs. Target 10) [SUCCESS by 2] [d20 = 8]
-> MeLange: Many parrots
MeLange: Nah I don't see any
MeLange: Just a bunch of parrots
Jericho: .....
Jericho: Uh, Thank you MeLange
Temperance: listens in on the conversation with mild amusement
Jericho: Can you point me?
MeLange: Uh,you're welcome Levi
MeLange: pokes Jericho
MeLange: sure no prob
Jericho: I have no response to that MeLange
MeLange: laughs
BOB yes Matty took care of the mule before wandering off
MeLange: points
MeLange: the parrots are over there
Jericho: Squints. Thank you MeLange
Jericho: Can you grab some crackers out of my bag?
MeLange: what's the big deal anyway? What you need parrots for?
Jericho: Please?
MeLange: I mean your legs and arms are still working right?
Levi Reed: Oooh, parrots!?
Jericho: ...Fair enough
Levi Reed: I love parrots. The ones that can say stuff especially
Jericho: Stumbles to the Mule, grabs some crackers and an apple
Jericho: Puts apple in front of Mule
Levi Reed: I once taught one to tell my sister to... well, just trust me, it was great
Jericho: Walks over to the parrots and tosses crackers at the ground
Jericho: Goes back to cave and sits down
MeLange: Could have offered us some
Jericho: Reaches into his pack, and tosses jerky at MeLange
MeLange: catches Jerky
MeLange: hey thanks
Jericho: Go for it MeLange.
Jericho: I have a concussion
MeLange: tears Jerky in two and gives half to Levi
Temperance: muffles a chuckle at the antics
Jericho: Turns head an vomits
MeLange: munches on Jerky
Levi Reed: eats
Jericho: Ow
MeLange: whoa what happened to im?
Jericho: I have a concussion
Jericho: Did I already say that?
Jericho: I feel like I'm repeating myself
Temperance: A side effect, I believe
Jericho: I'm just gonna lie down for a ommoent
Temperance: Please do
MeLange: concussion?
Jericho: Mumbles into the ground. there's more jerky in my pack. Give some more crackers to the parrots throughout the day please
Jericho: Don't scare them off
MeLange: Hey just wondering, like... if he's got a concussion should he really be going to sleep? we used to get a lot of those in the strong man games
Temperance: Head trauma can cause nausea, from what I've heard
Levi Reed: Are people with concussions supposed to sleep?
Temperance: Sleeping is probably not the best.
Levi Reed: Or you gotta keep them awake?
Levi Reed: I can never remember which one
Temperance: But he can lay down.
MeLange: I think so ya, that's what they used to do in the games.
MeLange: Cool people would just call 'The Games'
Jericho: [SKILL] Healing [2] [MOD:WIS] (vs. Target 17) [SUCCESS by 4] [d20 = 13]
MeLange: The strong man was implied
Jericho: Sleeps on side, so as to not choke on his own vomit
MeLange: lightly kicks Jericho on the bottom
Temperance: approaches Jericho and taps his shoulder
MeLange: hey, wake up!
Temperance: Don't go to sleep
Jericho: I swear to god, if you deign to lecture ME on medical advice, you may dunk back into the cave
BOB It is 830 AM no sleeping to regain healing or spells until 800 PM
MeLange: It's not gonna help you Jeri
BOB And then you can sleep through the night and in the morning heal and regain spells
Rothuss Carder: goes into the stream to see if he can wash the glue off the plant
GM: [2d4 = 6]
BOB so 2 PM for Levi and Rothuss
BOB After 6 hours the glue comes off
Jericho: Let's go waltzing in the Jungle with us desperatly injured then. I'm sure we'll turn out just fine!
Jericho: Grumbles
Levi Reed: Anyone bring any cards?
Ratbone Carder: why don't we just have second breakfast and ... HAHAHA
Jericho: Dice second bag on the Mule
Jericho: Grumbles
Ratbone Carder: i was just about to suggest cards!
MeLange: Goes to the river and fills his waterskin with cold fresh water
Ratbone Carder: or charades
Temperance: picks up the crackers from the ground
Levi Reed: Two truths and a lie?
Ratbone Carder: ooh that's a good one!
Jericho: Those are for the damn Parrots, please leave them alone
Rothuss Carder: Hey, if I cut my skin away where this stupid plant is stuck, Jericho can heal them in the morning, right?
Jericho: I wounld't recommend it Rothuss
Ratbone Carder: just leave it brother
Jericho: Come here and let me look
Ratbone Carder: leaf it
Temperance: You asked somebody to pick them up so the parrots can be fed. And while I'm no expert, maybe Levi might be interested.
Rothuss Carder: But it's annoying!
Jericho: Then come here dammit
Jericho: Grumbles
Jericho: [SKILL] Healing [2] [MOD:WIS] (vs. Target 17) [SUCCESS by 4] [d20 = 13]
Jericho: [SKILL] Herbalism [2] [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 12) [FAILURE by 6] [d20 = 18]
BOB Jericho does get skill checks
Levi Reed: tries to hand-feed some parrots
Jericho: Hm. You can sit in the water. Might help. I don't know of any poisons we have on hadn to speed up the process
Jericho: Gently pull while the water goes over it and let me know if it gets better or worse after 30 minutes
-> Jericho: It would be a significant injury to cut off that much skin to remove that plant/fungus from his body
Rothuss Carder: Poisons?!
Jericho: Yeah, plant killers?
Jericho: We don't have any on hand
Jericho: Also, to simply cut off that much skin would kill you
Jericho: I wouldn't be able to heal you
Rothuss Carder: Oh, okay. I thought you meant for me.
Jericho: Uh...no.
Jericho: You could always gently torch sections with fire if you aren't clumsy with it
Levi Reed: He can't stand to lose ten inches of skin?
Jericho: Don't know if it would work, but would be good for research
BOB Someone with a good dex
Jericho: Winks
Rothuss Carder: Tempting, but I don't think I'll play with fire.
Levi Reed: I'm just going to lay down and rest my eyes
Rothuss Carder: will sit and soak in the stream and try to gently pull the frond away from his skin under the flowing water.
BOB Letting you get calm and relaxed Rothuss slowly soaking and eventually about 2 PM getting the fronds to finally let go
BOB and you do have Ratbone, Rothuss, Lirt at decent hit points, and Melange and Jericho both at 1 but able to contribute
Jericho: Looks to see if the parrots are eating the hard crackers
The time is 9:00 AM
BOB and it is only 9 am
BOB still 5 hours of soaking for Rothuss and Levi
BOB You have been out of the caves for about 30 to 40 minutes so far
Rothuss Carder: You know, this is actually kind of relaxing once you just decide to stop worrying about it
Jericho: Worrying about what now?
Rothuss Carder: just lying in the stream over here, watching the clouds go by
Jericho: Oh
Jericho: Cocks head
Rothuss Carder: waves a frond in the air
Levi Reed: This is pretty nice. Very relaxing. I'm sure something will try to kill us soon
Rothuss Carder: That seems to be our pattern
Rothuss Carder: checks the sky for eagles.
Levi Reed: Hey, you priests, did the church tell you anything about this misty church? If we ever get in there, what should we expect?
Jericho: No, and No idea
Jericho: Goes to sit in the stream
Jericho: Sighs
Rothuss Carder: Sit upstream of me, Jericho, unless you're going to pee. Don't want one of these fronds to get on you.
Levi Reed: Can they do that? They seem kind of like a ride or die plant...
Levi Reed: And they've already ridden and hopefully they're about to die
Rothuss Carder: Oh, it's dead, but the glue is still sticky.
BOB So you have who to defend the group if (when) something comes out of the jungle to attack you
BOB You know if they come out of the caves they come from the left of the map
BOB and up that stream
BOB other than that, who knows
BOB So think out what you want to do to be prepared
Jericho: Is there a perch up the landslide a litte where we can camp? Maybe with a view of the surrounding area?
BOB You can climb maybe but not the mule and not the walking wounded
BOB Levi and Temperance are walking wounded so not able to do most things, can talk and help with ideas
BOB 21 hours to go
Jericho: Can anyone see any more secluded areas around here where we could lay low and maybe go unnoticed except by the local wildlife?
BOB and for Jericho that would be up to your rangers
BOB one is walking wounded
BOB the other has morning sickness
BOB I am sticking with that until she comes back
Ratbone Carder: (singing) lord, lord, how are we so bored
Rothuss Carder: stretches, and begins to recount some semi-interesting local history, if anyone wants to hear it.
Rothuss Carder: [SKILL] Local History [MOD:CHA] (vs. Target 16) [SUCCESS by 6] [d20 = 10]
Ratbone Carder: listening to brother, for a change
MeLange: where do you guys think would be a good spot to defend? Just in case something or someone attacks?
-> Rothuss Carder: Rothuss knows that other than normal animals like leapards or panthers the other very bad thing would be goblins, mountain men, or a chupacabra
Ratbone Carder: playing incidental music to accompany brother's history lesson
Jericho: So, we can't go up, we can't go down, we can't look around for a clearing
BOB Intersticial interludes between pledge breaks
Jericho: Where do we look for an out of the way place?
Rothuss Carder: Put the gear in the middle of the group, with people all around, so there's nothing tempting to an animal.
Jericho: Uh...wouldn't we just get in the way if a Jaguar leaps for it?
Jericho: We could pile it, and then stay a short distance so to get the drop on anything
Jericho: Stumbles to his feet
Levi Reed: We could always light a fire
Levi Reed: Fire scares a few things
MeLange: that also tell people where we are though
Rothuss Carder: That peak over there is pretty steep, not an easy climb. Goblins are suppsoed to live in some caves near the base of it.
Jericho: At this point Levi, I would be fine with a fire. Anyone who might come looking for a fire can at least be hopefully spoken too
MeLange: that's fine, just wanted to bring it up
Jericho: Nods
Jericho: It's a valid point
Jericho: I just don't know what else we can do about it
Ratbone Carder: I'm with MeLange
Jericho: We are in a pretty desperate situation
Jericho: Fine
Ratbone Carder: but also, wild things. which is more likely?
MeLange: probably wild things
Jericho: Goes over to Parry, begins brushing him down
Rothuss Carder: Leopards or panthers, goblins, mountain men, or chupacabra.
Jericho: Whispers to him about caves, birds, and apples
Ratbone Carder: well all of those sound awful
Jericho: [SKILL] Veterinary Healing [MOD:WIS] (vs. Target 16) [SUCCESS by 11] [d20 = 5]
Jericho: inspects hooves for rot
Jericho: Keeps brushing down
Levi Reed: Leopards and panthers aren't too bad, they're normally just looking for food
Levi Reed: Easy enough to feed them or chase them off
BOB Parry is in good shape, it has only been two days, he is in good spirits for a mule
Jericho: Smiles at Parry
Jericho: You doing good huh?
Jericho: No sign of wear on your hooves
Jericho: More apples then normal
Jericho: You're a great help!
Jericho: Scratches behind the ears
Rothuss Carder: Does he talk back to you?
Jericho: Sometimes
Rothuss Carder: She?
Jericho: Not right now
Jericho: Whispers conspiritorialy, knowing full well the mule cannot understand: "I don't suppose you have a cool lair where we can hang out for awhile"
Jericho: Sighs and Pats gently
Jericho: Well, what are we doing. Daylight's burining. We can stay here, we can move, we can do fires, we cannot do fires. What's our plan
Jericho: We have limited options, multiple injuries,
BOB You have one spell caster you have Jericho and Melange who are weak but can do things, then you have Rothuss and Ratbone for the primary attackers/defense
BOB Then Levi and Temperance walking wounded
MeLange: what you need help with Jeri?
Jericho: I need us to figure out the game plan, so we can prepare
MeLange: oh yea that sure
Rothuss Carder: Probably not this close to the church, but you never know.
MeLange: well I think it's a good idea to camp at the top of a hill if we can, gives us an advantage incase anything approaches
Rothuss Carder: If we move over to the cliff's edge, that limits the number of directions things can come at us.
Jericho: Look. Here's just a suggestion. Why don't we all who can walk, just pick a direction and walk for five minutes. Whoever finds the best place, come back and we can discuss?
Rothuss Carder: Worst comes to it, just roll down the hill away from danger.
Levi Reed: It also means things can easily push us off a ledge while we're sleeping
MeLange: that's fine by me, but the cliff idea also sounds good since we know they won't come from at least one direction
Rothuss Carder: Well, if you want to be pessimistic about it...
Ratbone Carder: well unless we are keeping watch
MeLange: yea we'll have watches
Rothuss Carder: If we stay here by the stream, a warship could come floating by and hit us with catapults.
Levi Reed: I mean, if that's what you guys want to do, I'll go with it, but it seems if we're going to trap ourselves against a cliff edge, we might as well have trapped ourselves in between two waterfalls
Levi Reed: I admit I don't know much about defense though
Levi Reed: That's Vee's department
Rothuss Carder: Can't get the mule down the ladder to join us in the cave.
Ratbone Carder: it looks like there's a path that goes to the foot of the cliffs. we could put our backs to that
Levi Reed: Hopefully that orange guy didn't knock her up
MeLange: camping by the river is also not a terrible idea
Jericho: Vote
Jericho: We are voting right now
Jericho: Camp in Cave, Camp Here, Or camp Elsewhere
Jericho: Let's establish that First
Rothuss Carder: If we move out to onto the promotory here, with the stream on 3 sides, how does that sound to our resident defense experts?
MeLange: I like that idea
Ratbone Carder: not an expert but i like it
Levi Reed: I don't even care at this point, I just need to rest
Levi Reed: Everything hurts
MeLange: there there Levi
Jericho: Great, it's decided.
MeLange pats Levi on the back
Jericho: Can Perry get to that point?
Jericho: Is that a good bridge?
Jericho: Examines the bridge for Parry's sake
Ratbone Carder: why is everyone going over there?
MeLange: Our camping spot
Jericho: That's where we are camping right?
The time is 9:30 AM
BOB It is 930 AM
Ratbone Carder: we should be able to have a fire since it's broad daylight, if we manage not to make much smoke
Ratbone Carder: [SKILL] Observation [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 13) [FAILURE by 3] [d20 = 16]
Jericho: We all established?
Ratbone Carder: [SKILL] Detect Noise [PERCENT:Detect Noise] (vs. Target 25) [FAILURE by 20] [d100 = 45]
Jericho: Now that we're somewhat tucked out of sight, let's discuss our game plan
Jericho: I'm not going back in the cave
Jericho: Tomorrow, after healing as much as I can, I'm going to the Parrots to speak with them
Ratbone Carder: of all the options available, this location sucks least
Jericho: I have no idea if they can give me the answers I want
Jericho: But I want to ask if they know a game trail or something up the rest of the mountain
Jericho: If they don't fine, but I'm not going back in the cave
Jericho: Too many unknowns, and four of us got our asses handed to us
Rothuss Carder: "The Priest Who Talks to Parrots" ... wonder if I can make a story out of that?
MeLange: I think this is a great spot!
Jericho: Mine, by just falling
MeLange: water view, usually gotta pay extra for that
Jericho: .....
Ratbone Carder: laughs
Jericho: Lays down on the mat, and lazes about
BOB Jericho is is 9:30 AM
Ratbone Carder: drops leaves into the water to watch them go downstream
BOB and so who wants to make that encounter check?
Ratbone Carder: [d20 = 8]
Levi Reed: Well, you can always stick around and watch the mule, but the church and Vee will have your head if you don't follow through on YOUR task
BOB does anyone have alterness? observation?
Ratbone Carder: [SKILL] Observation [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 13) [FAILURE by 5] [d20 = 18]
Jericho: I didn't say we wouldn't do it Levi, I said I'm not going into a Cave. Very different things
MeLange: [SKILL] Alertness [MOD:WIS] (vs. Target 10) [SUCCESS by 8] [d20 = 2]
Lirtimya: [SKILL] Observation [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 16) [SUCCESS by 3] [d20 = 13]
Levi Reed: Well it might be the only way to the church is through the cave
Levi Reed: So it might be the same thing
Jericho: Besides, I need Vee for support right now, and I don't really have it. I'd offer a physical, but she WOULD have my head if I asked
MeLange: but what an entrance!
Ratbone Carder: gods forbid!
Jericho: There is always another way Levi. I guarantee it
Jericho: If I have to painfully climb the landslide, I will do it, even if we have to leave poor parry behind
Jericho: I can't go back in there
Levi Reed: Man, if I knew how to write, I would write that shit down right now in case you need to eat those words later
MeLange: Relax Jeri
MeLange: And that's cool to say cause you're a guy
Orrian Terrawater: HELLO THERE
MeLange: wha what?!
Ratbone Carder: yelps in startlement
Jericho: It would seem we have been spotted
Jericho: Grumbles
Temperance: turns at the sound of the voice
MeLange: oh right
Ratbone Carder: hello?
MeLange: could be friendly
MeLange: hi there!
MeLange: waves
Jericho: Hello!
Orrian Terrawater: Who are you?
Levi Reed: At least it can talk, that's a nice change
Jericho: Waves
Jericho: Well, I would say we've been better
Jericho: but
BOB No one is visible on the path
Rothuss Carder: Who wants to take point as ambassador?
Jericho: Probably not what you mean
MeLange: Well I'm MeLange
MeLange: and who are you? If we may ask?
Orrian Terrawater: I am Orrian
Ratbone Carder: Ratbone and my brother Rothuss
Jericho: Jericho
Ratbone Carder: gestures at Rothuss
MeLange: And this is Levi
MeLange: points
Orrian Terrawater: There are a lot of you
Levi Reed: No, I'm Lance
Jericho: Sorry
Jericho: ?
Levi Reed: Your concussion must have gotten the better of you, friend
MeLange: I like to think we have just as many we need
Ratbone Carder: i'm sorry, did we disturb you, Orrian?
Jericho: We can camp elsewhere, we don't mean to cause trouble if that's the issue
Orrian Terrawater: I am not in trouble
Orrian Terrawater: you might be
Rothuss Carder: Probably.
Rothuss Carder: kicks back and relaxes under his plant.
MeLange: And how is that, Orrian?
Jericho: Oh good. I was thinking we had caught a break and the fates decided to slap me down
Orrian Terrawater: I am not sure who you really are, and why you are here
Jericho: You can ask
MeLange: well you haven't asked us
Levi Reed: We seem to be always in trouble, despite our best efforts
MeLange: Like Jericho said
Ratbone Carder: Well we are a bunch of nobodies
Jericho: Uh
MeLange: Um
MeLange: I clearly have a body
MeLange presents his abs
Jericho: We are making sure the Temple of the Mists is ok. It appears a landslide has blocked the path
Jericho: What the heck guys?
Orrian Terrawater: That is a bad thing I agree
Orrian Terrawater: For you
Jericho: Shrugs
Jericho: It's already been quite bad
Jericho: Trust me
Jericho: You here to rob us?
Jericho: Kill us?
MeLange: There any way you could help us Orrian?
Jericho: We don't mean to be short, but we're having a rough day
Ratbone Carder: Or any way we can help you?
Orrian Terrawater: That is the first nice thing you have said
Jericho: I'm sorry, I'm just a doctor Orrian. I can't help you if you are already ok
Orrian Terrawater: Everyone always wants wants wants
Jericho: What else can we do for you?
Orrian Terrawater: but she is ready to help
Jericho: Wait what?
Ratbone Carder: yeah i hate when people are like that. i'm sorry we come off that way
Jericho: We did?
Jericho: Sorry Orrian, that' wasn't our intent
Ratbone Carder: is there something we can help with?
Orrian Terrawater: The plant men are causing all sorts of problems
Ratbone Carder: are the plant men the ones responsible for the sticky plants?
Rothuss Carder: Big fungus people? Met one already.
Jericho: Yeah, not very nice
Jericho: They hurt pretty badly
Ratbone Carder: pointing at brother's skin
Orrian Terrawater: That is an easy thing
Orrian Terrawater: Wait until they start to eat you
Ratbone Carder: oh no!
Rothuss Carder: This thing is going to eat me?
Jericho: Wait what?
Rothuss Carder: I thought it was dead.
Orrian Terrawater: Not those things
Jericho: It looked like the tendrils were lossening
Jericho: Oh
Rothuss Carder: Oh, good.
Orrian Terrawater: The walking ones
Ratbone Carder: i think it's the plant men who want to eat us
MeLange: Rather not run into more of those
Ratbone Carder: that sounds horrible
Jericho: Well, we are in a bad way right now, but we'd be happy to help you with them if we can?
Jericho: Hesitant, as if not sure we can handle it
MeLange: Do they come out here? On the surface?
Orrian Terrawater: Those priests who want to be so mysterious
Rothuss Carder: Mysterious, or Mists? or both?
Ratbone Carder: listening actively
Jericho: Listening
Rothuss Carder: Sorry, carry on.
Orrian Terrawater: Only at night do the mushroom men walk
Levi Reed: Do the mushroom men talk?
Orrian Terrawater: I don't know, I have not ever let them catch me
Jericho: Did they cause the landslide?
Jericho: Did the priests cause this?
MeLange: well there goes our camping idea
Jericho: Yeah
Jericho: Glumly
Orrian Terrawater: I do not know who caused it
Orrian Terrawater: I just need to stay safe from the mushroom men and the priests
Jericho: Brow furrowed
Jericho: The priests want to harm you?
Jericho: Voice a little aggressive at the injustice
Orrian Terrawater: Priests are alway trying to make you do things
Jericho: Like what?
Jericho: I just want to heal people. What are they doing to you?
Orrian Terrawater: Go do this, Fetch that, act this way, give us that
Levi Reed: Yep, that sounds like them
Jericho: Levi?
Ratbone Carder: power to the people
Jericho: Do I?
Jericho: Looks horrified
Jericho: I don't want to be anything like that
Levi Reed: Not you, but your preisthood is why we're out here right now man
Jericho: Fair enough
Levi Reed: Otherwise I'd be relaxing at a tavern
Jericho: Yeah, I owe you guys big time
Jericho: Well Orrian, is there anything we CAN do to help you?
Ratbone Carder: so i don't know how to repel mean priests
Ratbone Carder: but maybe we can root out these mushroom men somehow
Jericho: We won't tell the priests you were here if that's what is wrong. I just wanted to make sure they were still alive
Orrian Terrawater: Don't tell me what to do
Jericho: Puzzled
Orrian Terrawater: Don't let the mushroom men cause problems
MeLange: Is it up to us?
Jericho: I...wasn't telling you what to do?
Jericho: I am so confused
Jericho: whispers to Levi
Rothuss Carder: I think that's one of the things we can do to help him. Not tell him what to do.
Levi Reed -> Jericho: I don't know man, maybe the fungus attacked his brain
Ratbone Carder: well okay let's don't do that
Rothuss Carder: On it!
Jericho: Well we won't tell you what to do. Would you be alright if I made sure you are okay? I can do a diagnostics check
Jericho: While not telling you what to do of course
Ratbone Carder: and in the meantime, Orrian, do you happen to know where the mushroom men happen to occur the most often?
Orrian Terrawater: I am going to go along to finish my checks
Ratbone Carder: oh okay
Levi Reed: Or any way to repel them?
Orrian Terrawater: The mushroom men walk at night
Jericho: Can you tell us a safe place to rest?
Ratbone Carder: thanks!
Orrian Terrawater: I am looking for the good mushrooms
MeLange: there are good mushrooms?
Orrian Terrawater: They help you see the real world
MeLange: nice
Ratbone Carder: oh those mushrooms
Rothuss Carder: Oh. *That* kind of mushroom
MeLange: Starting to like you Orrian
BOB and no further words from him
BOB and now Vee is back from her episode of morning sickness
The time is 10:00 AM
BOB Landslide on the path between you and the Church of the Mist
BOB you are on your second day,
BOB you walked camped in the fishing shack (leopard attacked) and the next morning found the landslide blocking the path to the church
BOB There are no towns that you know about that would have a church
BOB You are up in the mountains now walking to fishing shack
The time is 11:00 AM
Rothuss Carder: When it gets nearly night, do you think we could pull these logs up onto our little island?
Vee Barlett: Lots of time to up our defenses before the night.
Rothuss Carder: then put 'em back in the morning?
Vee Barlett: looks at Melange for an answer
MeLange: oh LOTS of time
Vee Barlett: Nah, I mean, can ya remove at least one of them planks?
MeLange: oh... oh you mean me!
MeLange: sure thing, ,which one you want gone?
Vee Barlett: We don't wanna corner ourselves, but if you limit at least one easy entrance, that's good.
Vee Barlett: One by the house.
MeLange: sure thing
Vee Barlett: Y'all injured go make the house nice and cozy, yeah?
MeLange: [CHECK] Strength (vs. Target 18) [FAILURE by 1] [d20 = 19]
Vee Barlett: Lirt, ya wanna fish us up some food?
Vee Barlett: Take the mule inside, too, yeah? If it has room? Ain't want the bait to be obvious.
MeLange: [CHECK] Strength (vs. Target 18) [SUCCESS by 11] [d20 = 7]
BOB That was a sucess, you have above an 18
BOB So yes Melange grabs that tree and PULLS but then slips and it drops into the stream and floats away
Vee Barlett: Levi, gimme your rope.
Vee Barlett: claps her hands together real loud
Vee Barlett: COME ON! CHOP CHOP! LOOK ALIVE CREW!
Vee Barlett: Lots to do!
Rothuss Carder: Well... that's a thing
Ratbone Carder: starts sweeping with a branch with a few leaves on
Temperance: takes out an apple and attempts to take the mule inside
Ratbone Carder: oh yes here's the rope
Vee Barlett: Well that works. Wanna help with that mule, too, Melange? See if Temperance needs that, er, skill ya got?
Vee Barlett: Thanks.
Vee Barlett: takes rope
Ratbone Carder: sweep sweep sweep
Temperance: Help would be appreciated. I don't want to surprise her unnecessarily
Vee Barlett: Hmm... thinkin' maybe we can rig somethin' up at this entrance here.... trip wire? A way to pull it up if needed?
Vee Barlett: thinking
Temperance: We can look for places to hook it if that's what needs to be done
Ratbone Carder: arranging the debris into places to sit or lie down
BOB You could not move it last night when you were here
BOB Let's say it takes an hour to clean up, get rid of that other smaller log that Melange tosses into the stream, move the mule inside, etc.
The time is 12:00 PM
BOB and I think you can debate, discuss, plan, plot etc on the site for what you want to do to get through the next 18 hours
Ratbone Carder: anybody wanna do a skit afterwards?
Vee Barlett: [SKILL] Rope Use [MOD:DEX] (vs. Target 15) [SUCCESS by 6] [d20 = 9]
Vee Barlett: working on a rope-based trap trip wire thing
Ratbone Carder: poetry contest?
Levi Reed: Oooh, I'd be in for that
Temperance: attempts to guide the mule inside as gently as possible
MeLange: [SKILL] Alertness [MOD:WIS] (vs. Target 10) [FAILURE by 6] [d20 = 16]
Temperance: Hopefully we can find somewhere where you can rest as well. Jericho looked you over, so you seem to be in better condition than most of us.
Vee Barlett: Hey! Rat Twins! One of ya wanna take a look at this set-up? See if it works?
TMO (Rothuss Carder): bards do not get Set Traps
BOB then sadly not able to create a trap with Vee
Vee Barlett: gives up and crosses over to find a tree to make a skiff instead
BOB Vee can make a check to see if she can find enough small trees to create a rough canoe
Vee Barlett: [SKILL] Observation [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 12) [SUCCESS by 3] [d20 = 9]
Vee Barlett: [SKILL] Shipwright [MOD:INT] (vs. Target 10) [SUCCESS by 8] [d20 = 2]
Vee Barlett: [SKILL] Seamanship [MOD:DEX] (vs. Target 16) [SUCCESS by 4] [d20 = 12]
Vee Barlett: [SKILL] Boating [MOD:WIS] (vs. Target 15) [SUCCESS by 5] [d20 = 10]
BOB and Vee searches and finds and drags back some saplings and long vines to weave together to create a floating platform
BOB It will take her 6-8 hours to build it but she has the materials to do so on the island now
Ratbone Carder: tell me what to do and i'll help
Vee Barlett: Keep an eye out.
Temperance: shifts around any debris inside the cabin in attempt to make it more comfortable
BOB Ok so let us pause here for the night
BOB So everyone can think and imagine over the next two weeks
