Everyone Knows - Out of Character discussions

Up to the minute summations:

The entire group is in the Castle of Count Drake.

You will be starting out in your bedrooms after arriving during the morning and being shown to them by the servants. The time will be just after noon. Everyone is expected to attend dinner this evening at 6:30 which is just after sunset.

You will each find out when you log in what room you are assigned to and who is in the room with you.

For those that missed the last session (or two) prior to this here is a quick summary.

Arrive in Ghostwood Domain, Blackraven Village. Stay at the inn. Murder happens in inn overnight. Visit Castle in morning, be told to come back tomorrow, night paid for at inn for inconvenience.

Talk with gypsies. Visit the village, talk with glassblower. Break into mayor's house. Go to inn.

Get woken up at inn by mayor and sheriff. Take Esmerelda, Indigo and Sarengar to jail overnight.

In the morning mayor pronounces judgement and it is carried out.

For stealing the jar as well as breaking in Esmerelda had her right hand cut off.

For breaking in but not stealing anything and being put to sleep by the trap Indigo had his right arm broken.

For breaking in and general backtalk Sarengar had his left ear cut off.

Branwyn insisted that it was her fault because she cast the knock spell. The mayor deferred judgment to the Count due to her status.

Repercussions to characters:

Sarengar only has one ear now so will have some penalties to any listening activities including his opera singing until he learns to adjust.

Indigo will be one handed until his arm heals and then will be at penalties until it strengthens fully. He will be at penalties fighting with his good (left) arm because of the sling his right arm is in.

Esmerelda will be at severe negatives to casting until she relearns how to cast one handed. Everyday that she attempts to cast a spell the percentage chance that it works goes up by 1%, starting the first day at 1% per spell attempt. As an example on day one she attempts to cast a spell, there is a 1% chance it works. She can attempt as many times per day as she has spells. On day two she attempts to cast a spell, there is a 2% chance it works that day. She does not cast anything on day three or four. On day five there is a 3% chance of her spells working properly.

Eventually she will work her way back up to 100% normal casting; this is only because of her specialty and kit that she can recover the use of her spells this way.

BOB

You are heading to the Ghostwood Domain to see Lord Drake.

Just to make sure everyone understands where we are for the next couple of sessions.

When we pick up on Friday (11 23 12) we will have the encounter with the hill giants to finish up. Then you are a couple of miles away from the Kings Road and you are back in civilized territory after the swamps.

You still need to figure out:

  1. - which way to the Drakes Road intersection you need to go (north or south)
  2. - you will be encountering villages, hamlets, etc along the way and how will you deal with that
  3. - Toybin and Miranda are waiting for you a ways down Drakes Road

If you stick to the roads you will get to the Ghostwood Domain where the Count has his center of power in 2 more travel days. Before you get there you will be traveling through the Royal Estates.

New thing to figure out is what to do about Llathandryll's death. Does Marco want to create a new character? Do you want to have Llath reincarnated?

Just a note on the tragic death of Llathandryl since only John and I were present for it. Here is a recap for those that don't want/have time to read the chat log. Marco had to log out just as Llathandryl went unconscious. Marco -- I'm so sorry. John and I did what we could. We did save the body so you have as many options as possible open to you. I was hoping that we could get it to drop you in time to save you and when that failed, I was determined that there was no way that thing was going to run off with you. -- Lisa

We were fighting a mutant lion thing that imitates human voices. Llathandryl tied it up and I thought we were done. Suddenly two more show up on either side of Llathandryll and started attacking him. Llathandryl went down and Hoffman and Indigo started hitting the one closest to them. The third one as soon as he got the chance, picked up the unconscious Llathandryl in his razor-sharp teeth and made for an escape with his prey down a steep ravine.

Branwyn cast dimension door and put herself in the path of the oncoming mutant thing, which she proceeded to jump on and tackle. (mages can make a roll to hit every once in a great while) Hoffman heroically leapt off the edge of the ravine taking great damage in the process, but was able to run and catch up with Branwyn, Llathandryl and the beast. Branwyn thought that after magically showing up in front of it, then tackling it to stop it in its tracks and then further sending a full blast of magic missiles right at it, it would drop Llathandryl. If for no other reason than to take a bite out of Branwyn instead. However, this only angered the beast and it tightened its iron jaws on Llathandryll's body making him beyond hope of all healing cures.

Seeing both Hoffman and Branwyn at the ready to attack again, it hurdled back up the ravine and out of eyesight of the two determined to recover Llathandryl and kill the evil creature. But once it made it atop the ravine, QuiFon and Brother Foto were waiting, determined to slow the beast's progress at any cost. Casting light spells and blinding upon it, this gave Indigo, Hoffman and Branwyn time to reach the creature and kill it and recover Llathandryl's poor mutilated body.

Hoffman fell to his knees and mourned the death of Llathandryl. Branwyn, who was in shock at the whole turn of events, tried to keep calm and got everyone to gather Llathandryl and take him back to the farmhouse where the group whould spend the night, break the heartwrenching news to Koorin, and rest and decide what to do next.

Note: Ilero was polymorphed into a Lizardman while on watch duty one night. The next morning Branwyn was able to polymorph him back to human. But polymorph doesn't just automatically change him back to Ilero. It changes him into what Branwyn *thinks* Ilero looks like. So, what changed? Height, skin tone, his nose, his ears, etc? Most of those are likely to shift somewhat. If Branwyn is fond of Ilero (I'm not talking romantically, just in general), then subconsciously she probably smoothed over some of the 'imperfections', or focused on what she did notice/like/remember. Or if there were things she didn't like, they might also be exaggerated. It is what she remembers of him, good or bad, with 'generic human' filled into the gaps. For instance, none of his clothes are likely to fit well anymore, merely because there is almost no way she could match his new body form that perfectly to his old one. Lisa, if you can give me some hints as to Branwyn's opinion of Ilero, I can make up most of it from there. And, sorry, but the accent isn't a part of his physical body, and can't be changed. ;)

Branwyn likes Ilero, so she isn't going to change him into a troll. You will still be your generally handsome self. Without looking at past chat logs, I remember him as being described as swarthy so I think he may get a little darker in complexion perhaps? Then I looked back at what you said Ilero looked like when Branwyn first met him. You had said Ilero was short. What with all the halflings, elves, dwarves and gnomes running around with us, I might make you a bit taller, if I was thinking about it.

Of course, you might be missing a birthmark or scar in places that Branwyn hasn't seen, but that will be up to you or Shurkural to discover.
