May 09 08 - Story Form - The Bigger They Are
Ramone? left Tori guarding the Priestess that had surrendered and went over to where Kit was confronting the two Priests who were threatening to burn the library down. “You are not going to steal our treasures; I would see them burn first!” one of the priests shouted at Kit. Kit tried to explain that they were not here to loot the temple but they were trying to go after the Fire Giants. The other Priest inside the room protested “We trusted and believed the Fire Giants too at first and see where that got us.”
Victoriana decided to kill the Priestess she was guarding when she did not get answers fast enough from her.

Ramone? silently slid into the room poised to strike the Priests in the library, as they told Kit to lay down her weapons and close the door. Kit growled and rushed at one of the Priests grabbing him and putting him into a headlock. Ramone? took the opportunity and backstabbed the other Priest killing him in one blow. While those two were occupied Paul and Victoriana explored the other nearby doorways finding more rooms.

With Kit holding the remaining Fire Priest helpless Ramone? flew over and sliced him open, putting him out of his misery. A quick search of the two bodies revealed a note in one of the Priest’s pockets. “beware, the Phi has hired someone to attack the temple, guard all". As Tori continued to explore doors along with Paul she opened one that had two more Priests kneeling and praying. Victoriana held the door open as Paul cast a spiritual hands spell.

Ramone? quietly flew over into the room to be close to the two praying Priests while Tori held the door open wide. Paul used his spiritual hands to sap both of the Priests from behind. He knocked each of them out; causing both of the illusions to dissipate.

Kit explored the meeting room that Paul had opened up, then moved along with the rest of the group to examine the areas to the west where the original fight took place. Ramone? took a moment to cast see invisible to make sure he was not taken unawares by any hidden Priests. Kit reached a doorway in the western section and opened it for others to go through. Before anyone could react a Fire Priest who was hiding in the room dove into a waiting pool of lava, killing himself.
Paul and Victoriana explored other doorways and found a scribes room, with desks and writing supplies.

The group did a quick assessment of the area and then carefully moved down the stairs to the main level, and then continued on down to the lowest level of the temple. After arriving in a dark chamber with a rough hewn passage leading out the group took the time to check for traps and explore carefully until they came to a set of double doors that were locked. Obvious that they were intended to keep what ever was behind them in Ramone? carefully examined them and then opened the lock just as Kit attempted to surprise whoever was on the other side by bursting through the doors.

Paul flew into the room and discovered that the center of this chamber was an open pit of lava that drops directly into the volcano’s cauldron. Looking around the room the group saw that the floor of this chamber was slick with congealed rock and would be very hard to walk on. The pit had cracks and crevices that extended almost all the way to the walls in spots. Paul spotted several doors placed around the chamber, each locked and with a small plaque on it.
