One Round Behind

This is a term we use for characters when the Player is not in attendance for a night or part of a session.

When a character is "one round behind" they can not be attacked or harmed by NPC's. They also can not contribute to the rest of the party with healing or advice or attacks of their own.

If the DM believes that a Player is abusing the One Round Behind rule merely to protect their character in part of an adventure rather than for 'real world' reasons for missing a session the character can be declared dead or retired.
