Session: Aug1817
- Welcome to the new page of summaries! I'm sure you're all caught up with what occurred between Galatea and now, right? I did just put the links right there so you have no excuse not to be. Well, unless you didn't realize you have to scroll down to see the two other summaries that happened in-between. That second link is only to the last summary before this one to follow. Okay, we're good now, right? Good.
- As for the housekeeping for today, I'm going to point out TMO's chat style edits. If you have input you haven't given to him yet, now is your chance. Also later. Or probably anytime really. And that is all the housekeeping I have. On to the summary!
Hahaha, I lied. I'm still writing it. No soup, er summary, for you! Well, not yet anyways.
- Fine. Soup for you. Our special of the day consists of a morning meeting and a party. We'll start with the morning meeting, yes?
- After Marisu quietly asks Phillipe to send Sam a message about her visiting to "help each other by discussing our personal situations with the other" to which Phillipe agrees, he informs Branwyn of more red scrolls and the possibility Androp would not like combat on his first day.
- What follows is Androp being warned of Jondar, told Master Kolpin makes good clothes, asked to check up on Indigo's girlfriend Penelope to let him know how she's doing every once in a while, don't let the city council rule you, you'll likely be working with Branadarus, the elves are not staying, blah blah blah, and you should really be nicer to Phillipe, Androp.
- Jonah will be coming to Drillian as well as Wu Sen Cho, but Joseph will stay behind with Atribella and Phillipe as they are an inseparable trio. And yes, to answer a much earlier question, Jennevive reaffirms she's coming back to Drillian, too. Sigh.
- Branwyn contemplates the name change of Branwyn the Interesting.
- Also clarification that it is optional to go on the trip to Cornelia which means yes, it will likely be a whole Dragonslayers trip (before returning to collect remaining people and/or things at Dryads Lair before heading back to Drillian).
- Jennevive volunteers Androp for the Branadarus trip as she can stay behind with the new ambassador. No, I'm definitely not suspicious at all. Not at all. Nope. (Okay, yes, everything she does is suspicious to me. What of it?)
- And no Androp, the elves are not wolves, the wolves are going with the elves, and if you even think about trying to take their pelts, Shi will take those silver balls of yours. Got it? In other news, Shurkural has apparently been a good influence on Shi'Nynze.
- With those logistics out of the way, let's get to the good stuff! How are things back in Drillian, Androp? The swamphold in open rebellion. Okay, uh huh, go on. Queen lost seven ships. All right, what else? No one could buy the help of Libellula Saturata. Got it, okay. Brotherhood isn't taking sides and Count Drake is protecting the queen. Sure, sure, and good. No action from vampire lords and only rumors of their minions being given free reign. Cool, cool. Blackwater supplied several companies of men including Carnak for the sake of friendship. Nice, keep going. Bullywugs and lizardmen protect the Bolpel Estate. Figures, anything more? The Doeskins were infiltrated by a squad of Therinthropes the Queen sent. Okay, gre-, wait, what?
- And here we learn more of the fate of Marisu's family. She is said to be the last pure Doeskin, her mother hasn't sent letters because she was executed as she refused to be tested or to swear fealty to the Queen, and if Marisu goes home, the Queen will request that she submit to her testing and swear fealty. What kind of test, we do not know, but that having Branwyn speak for her will help.
- Also some discussion OOC about how, for taking "great pains to prove that [the Queen] is human and leader of the Kingdom", her sending a squad of Therinthropes might...not have actually helped her prove anything.
- It has been over two months since Androp left so who knows what has happened since? But Jistille likely still stands as the Queen has tried harder to protect her families estates more than the royal estates, the latter of which was damaged by a Bolpels attack. And the ranger in the swamps has done well protecting the waterways. Hearing of Kristelle's success makes Branwyn happy. Oh, and the band of mercenaries at the estates has provided protection, not that anyone knows who paid them, while the Dragonslayers specifically have declined all offers, including from the Queen. There are about 20 or so different mercenary companies scattered throughout the kingdom. Any more questions?
- Oh! Androp has a question! Hey, are you married Branwyn? Oh spoken for? Hmm. Well, he's happy to hear she is happy. I mean, the Queen was thinking of marrying you off to help with the reconciliations, but that's life. The next question is how will the Queen take the news?
- Congratulations are also in order for Admiral Sir Indigo Bolger, the commander of the Drillian Navy (yes, there is a navy now for you). And congratulations also to Prince Ilero Sauscha, Captain of the Scouts. (As an aside, TMO is collecting official titles as it is very likely Marisu would know them/research them).
- Before you leave, Androp, Marisu, who takes his hands, thanks him for telling her the news and wants to know if there is anything else he can tell her? No? Well, good thing you dropped her hands before she could shock you or knee you.
- Well after all that good and happy news, why don't we go to a clearly legitimate, not at all suspicious, party? And by we, I mean Indigo, Kel, Shur, Neith, and Shi (as it is a one character party; I believe Kenna is there, too, but her costume is a ghost and it is a very good one). Indigo is a pirate, Kel is Count Squashula, Shur is a dairy maid, Neith is a shepherdess with a big frilly bow and poofy dress, and Shi is a wolf (because apparently coming up with a costume is difficult for me even with weeks of warning). So let's get this party started!
- Um, wait, the building door is locked? Oh, there's Matsoni Grimbos! You have the key...no, no of course you do not. You're encouraging Kel to break down the door? That's...normal? Instead of breaking it down, Kel lockpicks it with success. This party is definitely starting off right?
- We walk past the first room which features an empty pool into the second room which features tons of dust and dirt? The party guests are not fazed and start...cleaning? Is this normal? Indigo and Shi are not keen to join. They watch while Neith goes back to the front door with a desire to leave the party. But clearly the fun is just starting!
- A fight breaks out, Carissa realizes flower would have been a better costume for Shi (because wallflower, duh), and Kel is accosted by a youthful half-elf named Sadira Dumogn. Or flirted with. It depends on your definition. Either way, Sadira quickly drags the newly named Elf of the Wood into a corner alcove.
- It seems Kel isn't the only one who disappears as a guest starts screaming about someone being swallowed. Although she has difficulty speaking in full sentences, she manages to hold on tight to Indigo just fine. We're certain he is going to be squeezed to death and...did we just accidentally do some foreshadowing?
- Neith, who was near the pool, only sees a dead body being dragged (I thought the guest said the body was swallowed?), but, you know, that's still pretty alarming. She commands a guard to go, runs to Indigo, shoves away the guest who is hugging him (and suddenly seems more interested in Indigo than the dead guest), and brings them back to the pool. Oh, and no, Kel cannot see anything so he's still clueless. Or busy. Or both.
- The guards were been instructed before the party to see nothing, hear nothing, and ignore the young nobles. Shur decides to go flirt with the lone guard near the pool in order to get his help to haul the body out of the pool. Indigo jumps down there before she gets the help of the guard and...suddenly gets attack by a snake? What? Oh, look! And now he really is being squeezed to death!
- Between Shi charming the snake and Neith commanding it, the snake lets go of Indigo and slithers back into the pipes. Both Indigo and the body are successfully dragged out of the empty pool. But what kind of snake is it? Clearly nothing normal. Of course, nothing about this party is normal. Are we surprised?
- And here we end for the night. My prediction for the next session? Well, you know... but anyways, interpret it as you like (keeping in mind that pools and bodies are already involved) so...guess we'll see next week! Although maybe the they're just hitting the floor to dance? (Haha, like I believe that!)

[Lisa] other option was to stay with the status quo
[Carissa] From what I've seen, when is that ever the chosen option with this group? :)
[TMO] solving that mystery would be a snap for us now. We have experience! We'l just putz around being confused until Bob gives up and throws the solution at us.

Session: Aug2517
- No housekeeping for tonight (well, not in the beginning, anyways), so we get to go straight to the party! People are dead, killer snakes are in the building, so what do we do?
- Indigo thinks an announcement needs to be made about killer snakes on the loose while Shi is pretty sure it's a useless endeavour as no one will believe them, but she hasn't a better plan.
- The guests find out there is a witch among us as the two individuals fighting previously are now frozen. Oh wait, not a witch. Just a priestess named Neith. Whoops! I'm sure they'll be fine.
- Shi wanders into another room, spots a couple that wants to be alone, and promptly leaves as she is spotted and the female guest suddenly becomes possessive. As Kenna points out, it seems all the women are possessed at this party. Wait. Sorry. I meant possessive.
- Shur is still hanging out with her guard. She fails to convince him to give her his sword, but she does succeed in convincing him to be her bodyguard so success? Time to go dance and...not notice quite a few things that are about to happen!
- Indigo succeeds in making the band stop playing and makes his announcement about the killer snake on the loose. Indigo fails at making the guest believe him. Or, well, make the guest believe he is talking about an actual, real snake. One guest offers to help him hunt down the snake, but, uh, we're pretty sure her definition of snake differs from his. Undeterred, she grabs Indigo and starts dancing with him while he, in turn, tries to move the frozen men out of the empty pool.
- Kenna, wanting to leave the party, goes off to try to find Kel. Someone offers to be an elf if she is looking for one. Of course. Who is surprised? Shi, off to see where Kenna went, finds a woman lying at the bottom of an empty pool where there is brown sludge. No, not sludge. Brown mold! Fascinated by the brown mold, one she read about in adventures where it feeds on heat and sucks out warmth from fire and people, Shi decides she really, really wants a sample of it to study.
- Kenna makes her way back, starts going towards the mold, and is stopped by Shi. The torch Kenna was apparently carrying the whole times goes out. Thank goodness for ultravision! Not wanting to get closer, but still wanting a sample, they go off to find something to pick up a piece. Didn't Indigo have his sword with him for his costume?
- As they find Indigo and tell him about the mold and probably dead lady, Kel hears screaming and leaves the company of Sadira. Seeing a hidden door, he goes through to find a crouched humanoid figure, a cherubic statue decorated with mud and scraps of cloth holding a small gemstone (you did look at those definitions I posted, correct?).
- Kel goes to find the others to show them, Shur is so into dancing she hears and sees nothing, and they return to the statue to see Matsoni Grimbos taking the gem from the hands of the statue. Thief and liar. Is that gem yours?
- Although the OOC consensus is to punch him, IC they decide to just confront him. Very touchy about people stealing from the dead, Shi chases after Grimbos and warps the wooden door to stop him from running and wishes she had some of that mold to throw on him (and here we'll put a reminder that Shi only very recently retrieved back the bow that was stolen from her dead brother so she might be just a little, tiny bit sensitive about theft from the dead, and about making sure spirits find peace after death).
- Kel attempts to pick the pocket of Grimbos for the gem, but fails. Wondering if the spirit might have something to say, Kel boldly picks up Grimbos and brings him back to the statue and the spirit. The spirit has nOOOOOthing to say. In the meantime, Shur finally notices that everyone has disappeared. Where could they have gone?
- So no one is able to talk to the spirit, we can't find the gem, so what do we do? Guess we'll just turn him into the local guard. I mean, we're going to take him to a better party. The best party. Only the best people will be there. It will be yuge. You coming, Grimbos?
- Before leaving, Indigo remembers Shi really wants to study that mold so first let's go get some. Oh, hey Shur! Where have you been all night? And those guests! Weren't they with Grimbos? Shi waves to them. They do not react. She goes back to the mold room.
- Using his sword, Indigo grabs a piece of mold and tosses it into his hat. In the process, he gets hurt from simply being close to it. So it's definitely a good idea for Shi to get a closer look at it, right? Of course! That's why it severely burns her! Good plan! Not taking any more chances with her curiosity, Indigo grabs the hat with the sample and tosses it away from her. Darn it. Well without a better plan, we might as well leave and bring him to the guards, right?
- But seriously, Shur would really like to know what's going on? Oops, that's right! No one has told her! Catching her up quickly on events, Shur decides she can easily help Shi out and walks over to Grimbos. Hey there, big boy. Want to see some of Shur's amazing dancing skills and have an interesting time? The best time? Only the best, of course. And let's remove that, and that, and there goes the shirt! And oh look! Kel finds the gem in the pocket! Success!
- The elves go back to return the gem to the statue and/or spirit and....nothing. Nothing happens at all. They go to tell the group, Shi returns to the statue (and is talked out of jumping into the cistern by a mysterious DM-sounding voice), and well, things kind of...peter out.
- Wanting at least some kind of closure, Shi steals the clothing Shur removed from Grimbos and decorates the tatterdemalion statue so it is no longer tatterdemalion-ed. Kel tells Sadira to hit him up again sometime, and they're left with only dead bodies (but no evidence of crime) to report. Definitely the worst party ever.
- Returning to the residence, they spot Sam. Hello, Lord Hightower. Oh? So you will be joining us on our journey? Well this will certainly be interesting.
- And on that note, welcome to the end of this era where things were made up and the points DID matter. Which is to say, experience points for everyone! Well that's handy. Look at all those level-ups!
- It only took almost exactly three real years to finish this one game year (which started 09/19/2014)! Only Mario had one character die finally and completely (Anton) and Branwyn did NOT start any wars which is an accomplishment.
- New era will be A River Runs Through It (link here; and a place with only a single summary page - exciting! - as it'll just be one long adventure). BOB predicts it will only take a couple to four or five months, but....we'll see. He really doesn't think we'll get sidetracked?
- Next session will be some character updates for those who leveled and deciding on packing for travel and such which can be started here on site (right here) keeping travel limits in mind. But before leaving, Illero does get his updates of throws and hit HP while Shi rolls for 8 HP more this level. Woohoo! Other updating and housekeeping will be saved for next session. See you next page!
