Building Dragon Fen - Summaries
2019 01 11 quick one by BOB
The night began with everyone going over character sheets to check Level, Hit Points, Saving Throws and Experience Points. Then to check how many potential Weapon or Non-Weapon slots they might have open for training.
Then Ilero and Branwyn sat down to go over the many items in the treasury that needed to be appraised.
Finally building plans were confirmed and after some debate a total of 113 new buildings were created for Dragon Fen over 3 months.
Next session leads off with Roleplay that takes place during those three months including meeting Skarphedin, introducing Thistle to the rest of the group more formally, Branwyn noticing that the Gypsies were right and she is beginning to show, plus any other conversations that someone might want to have.
Then everyone goes off for training so please have your plans in place!
See you then!
Session: 20190118c
- Still some updates to character sheets (and on-going as we speak with kLoOge still up). Most important (I'm not biased) are the wolves being grown and with more HP. Yay! But, it is a short moment before we jump back in.
- ...with Jilly attacking Indigo. And throwing things at him. And only half listening to his story about how she couldn't have saved them and how they always get into trouble.
- As expected, she does not take the news of QuiFon dying well.
- But the good news is, since Teb cannot die that we know of, he is allowed to go on adventures with her, so there's that?
- As Jilly, still angry, storms out, she runs into a dwarf. Literally. As in slams into him. And this is where we officially welcome Ryan's new character: Skarphedin!
- Important points: he really is a dwarf, his beard is magnificent, and you can call him by his full name OR just call him Skarf.
- Also of importance: Ilero pronounces Skarphedin's full name best??
- So after introductions and food, Skarf tells us of coming into these parts with five others, but none of them survived. Or he doesn't think so, but the bodies of Gunnar and Kari weren't with the dead, so yes, they might have been taken by the undead.
- What's that? Ilero may have had a run in, what two times, with where they might be? So yes, third time of trying to clear out Skull Church might be the charm. Or not!
- ...but we have some building and such we really need to finish first. In return for helping with land development, plus room and board, we're going to assist in Skarf's investigation. Of course, will all those rolls last week, it'll be three months from now, but details, right?
- And yes, of course they have an arm wrestling contest because what else does one due when not in grave peril? Tiberius beats Thistle, Hugh beats Skarphedin, and Tiberius beats Hugh.
- Other things to do? Tell Tiberius about the baby, for which he is excited and cannot wait until his mother knows. She's never had grandchildren for some odd, odd reason...
- Meaning yes, Branwyn breaks the news they're having a daughter. No, they have no name for her yet (but Branwyn says it will not be Tulip, or so she thinks).
- Which leads into the discussion about Queen Cinna who Tiberius is certain must be a good witch and definitely not an evil vampire. Except, you know, she is an evil vampire who threatened to kill them if they ever return. She might even kill Tiberius if he ever leaves The Mist. Clearly he believes Branwyn, right? Yeah nope. She offers to try ...whatever he wants after the baby. So, we'll see what happens.
- Also brief talk on the walking, playing with daggers Mercy. Yes, she can walk now. Child do grow up, you know.
- There is also talk about the possible wedding between Hoffman and Miranda. Because of her religion, there is quite a bit involved, and while all the same to Hoffman, it'll make Miranda happy. So what is some of what is involved?
- Questions about them. While Thistle answers a few while playing, the others can be found here (to be answered before next game).
- The rest of the time is spent training and clicking ahead. So that does mean, if you logged off early, please check that you got the training you wanted. kLoOge is up for you to check, and if you wanted your character to have done something specific in Loosend such as send letters or buy supplies, please add it to the list here.
- With that, and many many quotes, we'll leave it there. See you in two weeks!
Quotes of the Night:
[Master] (Ryan Jilly is a 12 year old girl who just dressed down the two high level fighters)
[Kenna Westfoot (Spring)] (she's intimidating for a 12 year old)
[Hugh D'Ambray (mharm-15549)] (That twelve year old girl saved like 6 of us in slavery from certain bad fates. I'm not buying it)
[Kenna Westfoot (Spring)] (maybe she's undead and arrested in development)
[Kenna Westfoot (Spring)] (or arrested magically)
[Branwyn (Lisa)] What would you say Master Skarphedin to a proposal?
[Branwyn (Lisa)] If you would help us in our land development for a short while, we would provide room and board and then assist you in your investigation.
[Thistle (Carissa)] You're going to propose to him? I thought you were married!
Lord Tiberius (Master) laughs at Thistle
Thistle (Carissa) whispers, "Oh...not that kind of proposal..."
Skarphedin (Ryan) quietly sighs in relief at Thistle's words.
Ilero (TMO)] Hye can look round. Any unique gear t'ey carry, in case hye find it wit'out dwarf near it?
[Kenna Westfoot (Spring)] in case you could not tell, Ilero asked if they had distinctive gear
[Kenna Westfoot (Spring)] it takes time to get used to Ilero's speech
[Ilero]] (TMO) frowns slightly.
[Brother Fotopoulos (JohnAA)] and a good ear
[Thistle (Carissa)] Also, sometimes, he talks a lot about otters, but he's not actually talking about otter otters.
[Ilero]] (TMO) comes over to the dwarf's side. "Hye see please?"
[Lord Tiberius (Master)] You want to pee? OOOOH see sorry Ilero
[Skarphedin (Ryan)] (sky sparks and sky farts you mean)
[Kel (MarioHome)] (very very frightening me)
[Lord Tiberius (Master)] Galileo can you pee
[Lord Tiberius (Master)] (back to Lisa to get us on track again)
[Shi'Nynze (Carissa)] (lol before this goes downhill)
[Brother Fotopoulos (JohnAA)] (please say no, no, no, no, no)
Ilero (TMO)] (BEFORE?)
[Branwyn (Lisa)] (too late!)
[Kel (MarioHome)] Skarp? Sounds like a fish
[Kel (MarioHome)] (anyone?)
[Lord Tiberius (Master)] But a small one that cannot eat Indigo
[Branwyn (Lisa)] (I am not going to cod-dle you Mario)
[Kel (MarioHome)] (rofl!)
[Kel (MarioHome)] (World According to Garp)
Hoffman (JohnAA)] Tiberius, I know I don't know my real mother, but sounds like you do not either
[Lord Tiberius (Master)] I do not know your mother either Hoffman
[Skarphedin (Ryan)] (and back. Had tea to make and a sleeping child to move)
[Kel (MarioHome)] (TMO, I found your tea...)
Ilero (TMO)] (TEA THIEF!!)
Hoffman (JohnAA)] (Ea Hief)
[Shi'Nynze (Carissa)] (*EA HEIF?)
Ilero (TMO)] (TMO tackles Ryan)
[Kel (MarioHome)] (lol)
[Shi'Nynze (Carissa)] (*ackles)
Hoffman (JohnAA)] (GMTA)
[Lord Tiberius (Master)] LOL
[Shi'Nynze (Carissa)] (...MO ackles?)
[Lord Tiberius (Master)] LOL
[Kel (MarioHome)] (lol *2)
[Kel (MarioHome)] (max bonus LOL)
[Neith of Inholt (mharm-15549)] (And back. Dog says thank you)
[Thistle (Carissa)] (Arm wrestling. You and Skarf)
[Thistle (Carissa)] (Yu being Hugh unless Neith feels strong today)
[Thistle (Carissa)] (And Yu being You not Wu)
Ilero (TMO)] (OLOLOLOL)
[Kel (MarioHome)] (who?)
Hoffman (JohnAA)] (Wu?)
[Kenna Westfoot (Spring)] (that's a running joke. we had a Wu Sen Cho.)
[Thistle (Carissa)] (Still have! He is not dead yet!)
Session: 20190201c
- More building and planning and and identifying and appraising and rolling. So we'll keep this short.
- Including the not yet built trek through the woods, all currently costs: 203,000 g
- More gems are appraised with results, as always, found here and kept track of by Lisa.
- Bone dagger, pipe made from Red Dragon's tooth, and Golden Goblet all also appraised.
- And from identify: Mace +1, Rod of Resurrection has a strong charge, Ring of Male Control (when woman puts on man she has Charm over him), Magic Ring of Jotun (as in only speak, not understand, Jotun), Potion of Worm Calling, Mojo Liquid, Cordial of Kindness, Oil of Stone Giant Strength, Liquid of Metal Fatigue.
- Moving on to event rolls, we get a few weather delays plus: two Raids, a Call to Arms a Civil War, and a significant Monster Attack all of which we will deal with within the next few sessions.
- We do briefly deal with workers going on strike and leaving as well as some recruitment events for Ilero's new guild including an elf who doesn't know how to use a bow and a kercpa (which is a new one for all of us). TMO rolls his others, who do not have interactions, but those are details he (will probably have) on the Tieran Guild page.
- Still have some plan finalization to do, and no XP until we deal with the mentioned events above, but we're getting there?
- ...I hope. We'll find out next week!
Quotes of the Night:
[TMO] IIRC, Suomi means 'swamp' in Finnish.
[Ryan] Isn't Suomi what the Finnish call themselves?
[TMO] Yes.
[TMO] And since a fen is a swamp, 'Fen'-land is the land of swamps.
[Ryan] Well, at least they don't have the false advertising of Greenland. They are honest, at least
[Master] isn't it curious
[Master] originally from the lands around Lake Peipus then pushed back by invaders to the darker forests of Blackwater
[TMO] right, my job here is done. See you all next week!
Lisa] Branwyn starts to bless and chant at Ilero ineffectually
[Carissa] Shi successfully maybe shows her how it's done.
Ilero (TMO)] Gesundheit
[Master] Ring of Male Control, only works when a woman places it on a man's hand then she has the power of Charm over him
[MarioHome] oh, so a wedding ring
[Lisa] Hoffman's wedding present!!
Session: 20190208c
- So things happened between all that building. What things? Here are the two events from this session:
- Well you can't make a trek through the Valoris Wood without first talking to Valoris Onod Ancien! Jilly, Branwyn, Dahlia, Shi, Thistle, Kel, and Skarp all make the walk and the talk with the treant. Jilly gets lifted in the air, Skarp earns the nickname "long beard sharp axe", and in the end, the elves and others agree to being guardian of the woods for twenty Springs - but loophole, not consecutive years as he knows some of them aren't rooted - in return for building a big direct "trail" through the woods.
- Brief intermission as kLoOge reminds us that sometimes it hates us.
- Sometime later, while building, a farmer runs to Kel screaming about a terrible beast swallowing his son in Reget's Field. Ankheg? Yeah, probably. After gathering others nearby, Kel, Shi, Hoffman, Indigo, Skarp, Shur, and Hugh run off to maybe save the boy. Is it an ankheg? Well, yes, there are two of them, but we (mostly Skarp) get surprised (and almost killed) by the additional Bullette. After that brutual surprise, we do kill the two ankheg, but end up only finding some poop and semi-fresh bones. Poor Boy. At least the farmer gets the nice gems we found and we get some nice magic items (potion, two mage spells and magic chain mail)!
- Yes, another short summary (I'm okay with this right now), some nice items, and a to be continued! What'll next week bring? Hopefully not death. Or major destruction. Hopefully.
Quotes of the Night:
[Shi'Nynze (Carissa)] To...stay here for...twenty years?
Acorn (TMO) springs out from behind a branch. "That's GREAT! We haven't had elves here since my granddam was a cub!"
[Valoris Onod Ancien (Master)] (sorry TMO not available yet)
[Acorn (TMO)] (awww...)
[Acorn (TMO)] (ok... *shuffles back into the bushes)
[Master] OK so everyone NOT in the tunnel can roll a surprise a d12
[Kenna Westfoot (Spring)] Kenna Westfoot: Cooking check: (d20) [1d20=14] 14 - ROLL SUCCEEDED against 14!!
[Kenna Westfoot (Spring)] (uhm, I did not mean to make a cooking check)
[Kenna Westfoot (Spring)] (I meant to make a snide remark)
[Lisa] but what mage did the ankheg eat?
[Carissa] Howard. Wait that was last time.
[TMO] one too dumb to use up the scrolls
Session: 20190215c
"Please everyone let one thing be clear, before you were a group of adventurers out and about doing what you wanted, if something went wrong you all fixed it because it affected you. NOW you have a few hundred people that can die if you just toss aside a choice because you do not want to be forced to make a decision." - BOB
- Just feel like that quote is probably important and something to remember, yes? Yes.
- So on to the game, where after some more discussion of things, and figuring out of things, it is decided that Hugh is currently in Ottertown until otherwise noted to listen to the citizens of Dragon Fen and to help make decisions on things. Including what to do about the little girl who walks near him, holding her doll, and crying.
- According to her, her father threw a rock at her and told her to run because "they were eating mommy" which is definitely a normal thing? She doesn't know where she ran from, just that she ran towards the tower. We find out her father's name is Joe (or a bastard, according to her mother), her doll is Amy, and she is Aimlee. Oh, and based on her black spotted doll, they worship Kiputytto, Goddess of Sickness. Yay!
- Oh and sidenote, yes, of course Jilly met her because it sounds like Jilly is going around meeting everyone who moves in. A good thing to remember for later, I'm sure.
- This fact plus BOB's ominous quote above makes us also consider that those attacking Aimlee's home could be: zombies, ghouls, plague, Grey Death, or some other illness incuded incursion. So what to do?
- As a precaution, we gather those who would be immune to the Grey Death (anyone not human or half elf, and also available, so not immune Branwyn or Miranda, either), take those already exposed to Aimlee, and start walking with her in hopes she knows where to go. Does she? Well, we do go by horse which confuses her and causes us to loose time (and end up in a very, very silent and empty field), but we manage to backtrack.
- They find the house with the door broken in, blood all around, and the barn which quickly goes up in flame followed by the sound of gurgles and cries. Oh, and a farmer crawls away from the barn.
- Nameless Farmer thinks the zombies were in the barn. He says they took his son so he locked the doors and poured oil around it before setting it on fire. Then he breaks down crying.
- While he gets it together, a handful go searching the house. They find a shrine to Kiputytto, but nothing else of interest. Maybe call a town meeting as Indigo suggested?
- Back outside, Farmer calms enough to tells his son had been out back getting the plow ready when he was taken so Farmer chased them to Joe's farm. He has heard of Kiputytto, and he is Suomi, but he doesn't follow her. Why did he come here? Well, his nephew wanted to follow Prince Sauscha, of course! Huh.
- We also find out that the zombies came from the north across the wastes. Indigo points out that it's not only a long walk, but people with magic make them. So where did they come from and why are they here?
- HAHAHA yeah we don't know. We're left with a burning barn and something burning inside, a disease-free but injured and burned farmer, a house with a broken door and blood on the inside, and absolutely no clue where to go from here. Anyone?
- Maybe we'll have idea of how to proceed on Friday, hopefully. We'll find out. See you then!
- P.S. Only thought is to get a Suomi priest involved at some point because death masks.
Quotes of the Night:
[Carissa] Question: how many PCs can read W Common?
[Lisa] Ilero, Bran, Miranda at least
[Carissa] Ilero? But he can barely speak it!
[Carissa] (Fingers crossed ghouls/zombies...?)
[Hugh D'Ambray (mharm-15549)] (fingers crossed)
[Indigo (Lisa)] (yeah it sucks when we hope for zombies and ghouls!)
Master] Yes to leave your hat on
[Master] sorry
[Master] yes to leaving your horse
[Master] that was weird
[Shi'Nynze (Carissa)] (Hat, horse, same thing)
[Kel (MarioHome)] (hmmm, who you texting?!)
[Master] LOL no texting just listing to things
[Master] no to Shur being in danger but she is unable to react
[Shurkural]] (TMO) stands there unreacting. Reactionless. Unable to react. Not reacting at all.
Session: 20190222c
- Another quick summary because, short encounters and lazy summary writer AND SO:
- There wasn't really any big plot twist with the farmer. I mean yes, math and bodies didn't quite add up with 10 or so adult-sized and three children. We did learn of others on the farm, and we're pretty sure those ghouls came from Skull Church (yes, ghouls, not plague, thankfully), but that'll be an adventure for later. In the meantime, Branwyn addressed waving taxes for a year for those who get ghoul attacks, fixing up the barn, and temporary residence for orphans in the church (available for adoption!). One step at a time, right?
- Next encounter is at the half-finished Tieran Guild where bullywugs attack. Nothing too significant except, you know, the death of one of the first recruits. Rest in Peace, Oppleby Fiddlefen, you shall quickly be replaced. (Too soon?).
- So that's two more encounters down, two more to go before we're done building and go back to training. What are the other two encounter? I don't remember, it's late, and I'm tired. You'll just have to wait until next week to find out (or scan the old chats and figure it out yourself). Night!
Quotes of the Night:
[Master] so in any case
[Master] you are there with a burning barn
[Spring] and I think the consensus was NO to cooking anything on the fire
[Master] anyone have anything before Branwyn's speech to the town?
[Carissa] (Nope brain dead)
[Master] SHE IS A ZOMBIE!!!! GET HER!!!!
[Shurkural]] (TMO) whacks Carissa in the head with a baseball bat
Master crowd mummers and quiets
[Skarphedin (Ryan)] (I can imagine. They just saw Shur kill Carissa)
[Snezana (Spring)] (while healing in fireball form would be lovely, it's not something I’ve got yet)
Session: 20190301c
- Another quick summary with details to be added later because life and unruly desktops and so:
- Morning meetings are a thing now. Hugh talks, Mara talks, a gnome complains, done.
- A Challenger Approaches! Wait, no sorry, it's just Knave?! Well this just got interesting.
- Another Challenger Approaches! No, sorry, just a bard who cannot sing. What does this all mean? Okay, well, this one I actually do know the answer to so no, I will not tell you.
- And done for the moment. See you all tomorrow!
Quotes of the Night: (Has anyone seen the quotes? I don't know where they got off to...)
[Carissa] Pun enters a room and kills 10 people. Pun in, ten dead.
[Hugh D'Ambray (mharm-15549)] (Then count it as a loss and the dragonslayers need to go out and make some money)
[Hugh D'Ambray (mharm-15549)] (That's what we do)
Ilero (TMO)] (Is it? I thought we killed things and caused chaos and discord)
[Thistle (Carissa)] Not a comedy act, that's for sure...
[Kel (MarioHome)] Sir Bacon, can you confirm that dear Calliope is a person?
[Kel (MarioHome)] SO you can or cannot?
[Sir Francis Bacon (Carissa)] Of course she is, you Pestiferous lily-livered bugbear!
[Kel (MarioHome)] wow that escalated quickly
Session: 20190308c
Since Carissa is both acting as our fearless DM and is also having serious computer issues, I thought I would help with this week’s summary. Please feel free to embellish and/or add quotes as you desire.
On a bright Misty morning, Hugh, Snezana, Mara, Skarphedrin, Howard and Indigo begin their journey to Old Man Miller’s Inn at Red Fern Lake in the hopes of discovering the whereabouts of Sir Francis Bacon’s lost lady love, Calliope.
The group heads out with Sir Bacon singing and Mara trying to drown him out with her playing. Everything is going well until Sir Francis walks into a spider web with two hungry spiders in it. Combat ensues, one spider is killed and the other wounded terribly by Skarp who not only nearly kills it but removes one of its legs. Sir Bacon is freed and onward we go.
As night falls, we stop and make camp at the what turns out to be a less than optimal campsite if your idea of a campsite being a place where you can get a good night’s sleep. First watchmen Howard, Francis and Skarp were greeted by a group of skeletons. Skarp’s warning successfully woke Indigo and Hugh but left our ladies blissfully asleep through the encounter.
Next up was Indigo and Mara who did not encounter any foes so were left with plenty of time for chit chat. This turns into somewhat of a sad conversation as Mara shares that she is lonely and wants to start anew somewhere out of the Mist where the sun shines. Indigo tells her how much everyone will miss her and suggests that Mara have Jilly take her out to help her meet people.
Just as Indigo falls asleep, Hugh and Snezana hear the sounds of bones rattling in the distance. Seems more skeletons are coming to call. Hugh wakes Indigo and battle ensues again. Most of the skeletons seem to like Hugh best so they surround him and wound him heavily. Taking a break from slicing up skeletons, Hugh wakes Mara. Mara, in turn, pulls her holy symbol from her substantive chest and commands the one remaining living undead skeleton to die. And … it does! Who knew? Maybe we should just wake Mara next time before we start to fight them and then we can all go to sleep.
Hugh gets some healing and it’s morning! Time to get back on the road. The group meets a lone farmer wandering about. He is awed and impressed to be in the presence of Sir Bacon. Indigo is impressed that Sir Bacon is famous. The farmer is wandering since skeletons keep ruining his farmland. Indigo recommends that the farmer head on down to Soggy Hollow and tell Jilly Indigo sent him. The farmer is then impressed to be in the presence of Indigo. Snee impresses upon the group that they should probably get moving and so while the farmer packs for Dragon Fen, the group heads to its next stop – which will be Old Man Miller’s where hopefully they will be able to find the missing Calliope or at least a direction in which to go next.
Quotes of the Night:
[Hugh D'Ambray (mharm-15549)] (Who came up with Sir Francis Bacon?)
[Hugh D'Ambray (mharm-15549)] (I cannot take it seriously :) )
[Howard Plum (Lisa)] (He's not who you think. He's one of the Canadian Bacons)
[Howard Plum (Lisa)] (Distant relation to Kevin)
[Master] so you make it to the hamlet of Mistgarden
[Master] where there is a small village of gnomes also living to the south that you had not known about
[Sir Francis Bacon (Carissa)] (If only we had gnome sooner...)
[Mara (MarioHome)] (they may have info, no way to gnome)
Session: 20190315c
Guest Summarizer: Mario
When we last checked in on our intrepid band of adventurers....
The traveling party found its way on the road to Old Man Miller's Tavern. The crew gets patched up just before they enter the tavern. Nice place, if not well patronized, as Howard exclaims. Just the right amount of people for the early AM time. The party meets Old Man Miller, who knows little of Calliope's whereabouts. He reminisces of her staying there while Sir Francis would perform. Apparently Calliope is a looker (or has high CHR), as Bacon keeps her tucked away while he performs, as she would be a distraction to all. Calliope's sister Thalia is mentioned, seems to be a hell-raiser.
Talk turns to the Countess's TWO children, and of Old Man Miller's scroll to repay Branwyn (She paid Old Man Miller for damages caused to his establishment; he is trying to return the leftover funds). Ultimately, Indigo convinces him to keep the scroll, probably in advance of more possible destruction.
Introductions are interesting: Howard is left out, Snee is also forgotten, and Skarp is the oddity. So ale all around! Old Man Miller mentions the gnomes from their nearby camp are a nuisance, stealing shows and drinks. The crew finds out they mine in the Craniate Wastes, copper and silver. Miller also inquires about the gift Sir Francis was getting for the missing woman. The blacksmith in town has ... something.
So off to the Blacksmith. Sir Francis addresses the smithy as Jill, but...Jill hasn’t been working here for some time, more than two years! Jane runs the show now. Hmmm... how long ago did Bacon order the gift? Bacon reveals his grand gift is a frying pan. Yes, that's right (and you wonder why Calliope ran off??). Maybe if it were made of silver? Nah, it would melt each time it was used, sigh. But silver is a great way to show affection, isn't it? Snee summarizes the message of a silver fry pan: "Be my Cooking Slave!" The crew leaves without te pan, but Indigo goes back to buy it. Jane questions the party's willingness to help Sir Francis. Thistle expresses interest in being a cooking slave and wants the second pan for sale, revealing Indigo as a Sir. Jane is honored to have met The Legend of Sir Indigo (yet offers no discount...)
Sir Francis remembers that Calliope and Thalia liked a place in the Valoris Wood, so off they all go. They set up camp just past the Jistille Estates, skirting the edge of the Wood. First shift is testosterone filled; the men out-macho each other with friendly banter, figuring out how their names came about. (Side note: Queso is NOT as universally known as we all thought, yet remains entirely delicious!). The shift finishes uneventful.
Second shift has Thistle again wanting the fry pan. She quickly changes her mind when she realizes how heavy cast iron really is (and how much maintenance it takes to upkeep properly). Thistle also thinks all elves can identify wildlife like Shi can; Paelius proves her wrong.
Third shift starts with waking the crew. Snezana rises in a fit, with no knowledge of who she is, where she is, nor who her companions are. The entire party now tries to assist Snee. Howard senses something off, so he Detects Magic, and finds a moss in the near vicinity. He recognizes the moss as Obliviax, which can make one lose their memory. The team then collects some in a jar for a possible antidote, while they search the area for more. Hugh suggests the party move close-by but further from here. They settle down for what's left of the night.
The party awakens to ... nothing, no bird chirps, and no leaves rustling. Just...howling. The team draws weapons and prepare to...
Tune in next week (or later tonight, groan) for the conclusion of "Calliope, Where Art Thou?"
Final summary of 2019003 22? - by BOB
Here is a quick wrap up for the Missing Muse Story Arc and the final wrap up (barely mentioned) of the Building Dragon Fen Story Arc that moves us to the next adventure. Although as is typical you know we will still talk about this story arc before we move on next week but trying to move forward!
So moving forward the group left the Obliviax lair behind and ended up on the far eastern edge of the Valoris Wood and as they look around for the source of the howling they stumble upon the wondrous sight of a rainbow swamp. Just as the group starts to emerge at the edge of the swamp a group of wolves attacks. Sir Bacon is the first to be bitten, along with Skarp and Snee. The fighters quickly rally {unlike the combat abilities of KloOge} and bring the fight to the wolves. One of which yells "Ouch" unexpectedly. This seems to ignite Sir Bacon with a flash of inspiration who drops out of the combat and starts to write furiously. With Priestly spell attacks and Magely magic missiles the wolves are quickly Blinded by the Light and subdued in place or they slink away. Snee begins to beleive she should be able to cast magic and also continually fails to be able to cast successfully. It is also discovered that Dara, one of the members of Ilero's guild, does not speak W Comm like the rest of the group.
The one woman?wolf? stumbles backwards to be pinned against a tree as Skarp and Hugh begin to negotiate a way for everyone to cease fighting. It seems that Sir Bacon does know this woman?wolf? or at least she knows him. Sir Bacon is writing away furiously all this time as Hugh physically drags him back into the conversation. This causes some of the papers to fall from Sir Bacon's hands. As Hugh picks the papers up he sees that Sir Bacon has been sprouting poetry in his sudden burst. A quick scan means nothing to Hugh who hands it off to Indigo. Who passes it along to Snee and Mara. Who quickly are entranced by the beauty of the writing, brought to tears as it touches their hearts. As the group confusedly debates the merits of the play they realize that the woman?wolf? has slipped into the swamp and disappeared leaving the group in confusion and chaos. Who was she? Who is Calliope? Was this all for a person or an inspiration or?
In wrapping up Carissa by DM fiat declares that yes Snee has her memory back and no is not a werewolf. Carissa will write more on the Missing Muse page to describe her version of the story arc.
So concludes our side trek and we move onto life at Dragon Fen. A quiet backwater Estate led by a new Countess. How exciting could that possibly be?
