Warrior
The term warrior is used to encompass any character whose primary purpose is as a fighter or has no other specified class.
There are two specialist warriors, the Ranger and the Paladin. Some would count the Barbarian as a separate warrior specialty but Barbarians are a cultural identity rather than a class one.
Warriors gain additional attacks per round as they go up in level that other classes do not. Fighters can also specialize in a weapon to gain additional benefits as well. Specialization is not available to Rangers or Paladins, it is only available to single classed fighters. The different levels of weapon skill are explained in Weapon Proficiencies.
Specialist attacks per round | |||||||
Level | Standard attacks per round | Melee Weapon | Thrown Dagger | Non-Bow Missiles | Light Crossbow | Heavy Crossbow | Bows |
1-6 | 1 per round | 3 in 2 rounds | 3 per round | 3 in 2 rounds | 1 per round | 1 in 2 rounds | Special |
7-12 | 3 in 2 rounds | 2 per round | 4 per round | 2 per round | 3 in 2 rounds | 1 per round | Special |
13 and up | 2 per round | 5 in 2 rounds | 5 per round | 5 in 2 rounds | 2 per round | 3 in 2 rounds | Special |
Note: Warriors who specialize in Bows do not get additional attacks but get a new range of point blank and a +2 modifier for attacks at that range. Warriors who specialize in Crossbows also get the point blank range. There is no additional damage caused by the bonus. An additional benefit of bow and crossbow specialization is the ability for a quick shot. If the character has an arrow or bolt nocked and ready to fire and has a target in sight {covered} he can choose to shoot at the beginning of the round instead of waiting for Initiative to be rolled. This is not an additional attack but a quick shot before anyone can react.
