Undertowers

This small Hin settlement lies on the far edge of the comfortable lands. Brushing up against the Bindbole Wood this hamlet is known for its unusual architecture.

On the very edge of the woods there is a small set of low hills. These hills are covered with a large castle built several centuries ago by a clan of giants. Large soaring towers and vast halls that take up as much space as a small Hin hamlet. At some point in the murky stretches of history? a family of silver dragons, the Arafa Turris Flumen family group, took over control of the castle. The local history of Undertowers does not mention when this transition took place but the local families of Stoneburrow and Shadowborn would indicate that the Hin have lived nearby for many generations.

The hamlet of Undertowers has a symbiotic relationship with the family of dragons that now lives in the castle hills. The dragons have sworn to protect the lands on the western bank of the river from invasion of humans from the east. In exchange the Hin assist with guarding the castle hills from any band of adventurous humans or humanoids who would disturb the dragon's home. An inevitable game of Hin and Dragon has emerged where braver than they should be young Hin attempt to sneak into the castle and bring out a bauble from the vast hoards of wealth there. If they are caught by the dragons they are often never seen again. If they are caught by the Hin guardians they are treated under the sheriffs law. There is a room in the Mayor's office of treasures that have made it back to town by successful local adventurers. It is a point of pride for some to have their name associated with the display.

The lands to the south and west of Undertowers are filled with pipeweed and cabbage farmers. There are no roadways leading away from Understowers to Needlehole on the Greenway. The only way to travel with a large amount of goods is by boat down the big river to Bywater.

The main families of Undertowers are: Stoneburrow, Shadowborn and Diggle.
