Khamsa's Folly - Out of Character discussions

Mike was brave enough to take the chance with the artifact and try to take the lead in solving the mystery behind it.

The first night of the adventure only Mike and Kaz were here to complete the night, so that chat room is not posted. This is to allow each player to make their own mind up on how they want to approach these events.

6/12 10:42

This just in Fritz's character Mentor wished Rave and the Liam statue successfully back from the other plane. Now it is a simple task of waiting to use the same potion to save the Liam statue and to deal with Morria's dead body. More to come

John

6/12

In Game Update so far Arilyn showed up and teleported Paul to Roadhaven so he could rememorized teleport and the next day they went back and teleported everyone from the prime plane home. Mentor used Rave's magic items to save Kylia so no save was needed and the group planed a way to try and save the Liam/Morria statue and the crazy blind invisible flying pixie known as Rave.

John

Oh and btw Paul reincarnated the dead priest into his Halfling assistant and left him at the temple

6/9

It is up to Paul, Finglas, Antarias, Valedianna, Kira, Wilson and all the rest to come up with the HOW, WHY, WHEN and WHERE you will tell my henchmen. Once you all figure that out then the rest is easy. Given enough funds they can buy a teleport back to Roadhaven. Once in Roadhaven they can get Rave's items, enter Kylia's pool, travel to Manetheo, enter the temple and rescue the group.

So I will leave that part to minds better then mine to figure out. I hope you do so and in a timely fashion otherwise the rest of us get to make new characters and then you have to figure out why we would help you the remaining Dragonslayers solve the riddle of 'The Besmirched Heroes' !

Fritz

6/9

You can teleport a note but that is no way of knowing if the person really receives it, or if that person is ok. As far as contacting the henchmen is concerned someone could teleport directly to Semphar and try and get an audience with them in the Mage University. You can't teleport across planes so Rave would never get the note as you have detailed. I don't know where you teleported to or with whom you went. Did you take Finglas and the others with you? If you went back to Gon, or Roadhaven that would be enough to begin the suspicion process.

Fritz

6/9 pm

I apreciate your plan and eagerness to help, Fritz. The biggest issue is contacting your henchmen when we can not even contact our own people. The path I have Kit on is based on what I had planed to do, teleporting notes to Paul until she found him. I felt I could change it when she was no longer able to teleport a note to Kylia. I think it would not be a stretch to teleport a note to Rave to see if he is "ok" and she would not be able to. That could make her want to teleport a note to Mentor and Val'Iant to let them know their master may be in trouble, but the rest would be up to you to decide what they would do with such limmited knowledge. It is a bit of a chalange, but fun, to roleplay a character not knowing what the player knows. I am not yet 100% what Paul knows, but I think I have enough to roleplay until I do.

I take it you do not think anyone will need a new character?

Enjoy

John

6/9

OK only Mentor and Val'Iant know about my code book with everyone's DNA sample. They are also the only one's who know how I made the potions since I was "technically" invisible when I did it. They can make potions to turn stone to flesh. To work at a distance they need to be within 50 miles of the person who's DNA they have. So as far as Kylia is concerned the just need to get to her and reverse the stone to flesh. As far as Liam, Morria and Rave are concerned it will depend on whether or not Bob agrees that being in the temple allows them to be within 50 miles of Liam, Morria and Rave. If so then they can create a potion that by using the DNA samples I have collected reverse Rave's insanity and blindness then turn him ethereal and he can then transport himself from one plane to another. That would be day 1 as they need to affect Rave before he goes wandering off or dies. The next day the same thing could be done to Liam to reverse him from stone to flesh (that would do Moirra at the same time). Then using the same technique of etherealness power on Liam he could then transport himself and Moirra (he is allowed to bring nonliving matter across with him) back to our plane. Moirra could then be raised or reincarnated as people choose.

Other scenario would be if Bob agreed that in the temple area one can plane shift back and forth easily to the plane where the bodies are then Mentor or Val'Iant could go and cure Rave and bring him back (Oil of Etherealness states that "In the ethereal state, the individual can pass though solid objects in any direction - sideways, upward, downward or to different planes"). Then the next day Rave could simply go back and coat Liam and Moirra's body and bring them back himself to our plane. Then reverse them with flesh to stone. Moirra could then be raised or reincarnated as people choose.

I collected everyone's DNA sample so that if I ever needed to be able to rescue them I could. I could even teleport without error anyone in the group within 50 miles of me to a location 100 miles away if I needed to save them (i.e. someone was captured and taken prisoner).

So the key here is getting one of them (Mentor or Val'Iant) to Manetheo ASAP, even if it means interrupting their training!!! We can use the teleporter in the Memorial Dungeon to transport to places, but not from places. If a message could be sent to my henchmen (along with some cash) they could probably buy a teleport from one of the higher level mages at the guild to Roadhaven. Get Rave's stuff. Go through the pool left open by Kylia when she traveled to the temple's entrance and then go to main temple area.

Finally do we know what the "Circlet" that Paul is now wearing does? Also if the flail was cursed and not Anura then Paul will suffer eventually as the Pharoah did. Therefore it is of utmost importance (eventually) that we separate him from the flail and circlet and destroy the flail.

Fritz

6/9/09

If you can get Mentor or Val'Iant back to Roadhaven ASAP either one of them can rescue Kylia immediately. It is possible that they can do the same for Liam, Morria and even Rave. The sooner it is done the most likely they will be able to succeed.

If Paul choses to become ruler of Manetheo that would be super, super cool. Of course depends on how he chooses to play it.

From reading the chat log it seems to me that things went as usual for the group. The problems are the normal ones for our players based on the way the characters are handled during game play. I am sorry I missed it, it sounds like it was an exciting night.

Fritz

6/7

For those who do not want to read the log, but want to know what happened.

Paul took the flail from Fin, and among other things, walked up to the dead priest. The Circlete appeared and Paul took it. With both items, the flail revels it's true nature as a rod of lordly might and Paul is on a power-trip to take on the Gods. I am still in control of Paul, but clearly under the influence. Fin, Ant, Val and Kira are the only ones left in the current party not turned to stone. Rave, Morria and Liam are believe to be permanently lost in the other dimension still crazy, dead and stone respectively. Kylia was turned to stone with all of Paul's stuff, including spell books and both control crystals. Paul used his last teleport spell and without the crystals there is no quick way home. Survival is still the greatest priority, with saving Kylia a close second

John

NOTE: Campaign Continuance is the new section of the Rule Book for dealing with issues specific beyond the character creation rules in Chapter 1

6/6

From what I saw the dead priest was already searched and his magic wand taken. Not to mention that we, or at least I, was much more concerned about how to save the party then to finish this part of the quest. I compared it at the time to the first part of this adventure where we had to kiss a sleeping girl, with no clue inside the game that would have any effect. I am sure we would had explored more but it was late and I was ready to sleep. Now at least we can get on with trying to save ourselves again.

John

6/5

To be very clear with everyone. I was very upset at the end of the night.

DO NOT call my work stupid and threaten to not show up if you can not do something as simple as pay attention to very basic clues such as the new dead body that suddenly appears in the room and you don't bother to investigate it

I can not give you any more of a blatant clue to say OH LOOK AT THIS.

If you chose to not look do NOT blame me. If I only point it out two, three, four times and you don't do anything about it, do NOT blame me.

I am sorry that I lost my temper, I know that I likely upset people. I do apologize for that. I am just tired of people saying that "this is a stupid adventure" just because you can not see anything else but killing things.

This was a very hard adventure (and it is not over yet) you knew were trying to do something that other extremely high level characters were afraid to do.

On a very positive note up until the late portion of the Jun 05 session there was some very very good roleplaying by many people. I was writing notes about how good everything was, and awarded XP during the game for it.

I dislike that then end of the night left a bad taste in several people's mouths.

We should finish this one way or the other this week. Perhaps Mike and John can get together before next Friday to try and solve things.

BOB

6/3

Actually Mike, I was confusing Raise with Resurrect when I said that. Why I would confuse two obviously different things, I dunno, but there you go. And no, I never did make a Will for Moirra, so if you guys manage to Raise her, I will definitely be fixing that issue. It is against Moirra's religious beliefs to be Resurrected, but she can be Raised or Reincarnated.

K

6/3

Rave should be pretty easy to cure, really. I seriously doubt he has to be retired. Unless this is some sort of weird super retarded curse of some sort, a cure spell should fix him right up. He can easily be fixed once we get back all our stuff. I should think, anyway.

As for Moirra, I know KAZ said Moirra wouldn't want to be raised, but how does anyone else know that? She never did write a will. Fin would want to raise her when they get back. He might even be able to resurrect with a good uplift. I'd have to check the numbers though.

-mikE

5/30

Save me! Save me! I actually have an item that can raise Moira, and remove my insanity. Mentor knows how to do it if he can be brought back from Semphar.

Also I am beginning to suspect (LOL) that it may not be question of WHERE we are, but WHEN we are. When Valedianna failed her save there was a comment about ghosts. Also at that moment she could "see" Finglas walk into the room. Maybe if what Group A is experiencing is a period of time around or after Set destroyed Manetheo that is why Finglas senses evil everywhere and the sky is funny. Of course going back to the ALTERNATE plane idea would explain it just as easily (or even better). It would have to be one very close to our own plane for Finglas to even be able to "sense" the presence of Clethalas his bow. Mobuto was a sage of planar knowledge but clearly not me!!! I know that at this point it is a rather moot discussion as I suspect by next week all will be revealed.

Oh by the way, I won't be here next Friday as I am going to a friend's wedding in Cincinatti, Ohio. You all have fun and good luck.

Fritz

5/30

After reading the chat, I see that there is nothing I nor Paul could have done if Fritz had run him as I expected. If we can finish this, we will certainly try and save Rave if Fritz wants. I also see how Lori was confused at the end, if you read the log, it certainly seems there is missing chat.

Paul can even reincarnate Moria, right away depending on the required components. Heck, Paul would like to cast remove cure on Fritz, just to see if it will work, after Fin gets rid of the poison, or as is if Fin cannot remove.

Maybe it is better Paul was 1 round behind, he certain would have failed both saves.

Just in case we can not bring our party back, I would like the rules posted for the game mechanics for retiring characters or more importantly, making new characters. If what Lori said last week, these are important rules like any other rules.

Here to a better week for us all.

John

5/30

If the group chooses to indeed contact Mentor and Val'Iant, then they do have a way of fixing Rave so I don't have to retire him.

Fritz

5/29

Well as I had anticipated those of us in the first group (Track A), were in for a really rough adventure being without our gear. It was tempting to not show up as I suspected death was an almost inevitability for most of us. John you should thank your kids for keeping your character alive. And Guy thank Kaz for being late to get you. Although I am not exactly dead my character clearly needs to be retired. Please send all his stuff to his henchmen (as I had stated long ago if such an occurence should happen), as if you let him keep it with his current state of insanity he could become a mass murder and serial killer. I never really got to show the group how powerful a character I created, and down played his abilities alot. I did have fun. Rave got to "bug" Finglas for awhile, so it was poetic justice.

F

5/23

I will try to work with Lorie this week to get her track caught up with the other two.

We start at the entrance to the temple for the other two tracks and see where Kylia fits into that.

BOB

5/20

Okay, Bob speaks pretty fluent Kaz, so I'm less confused now. Thanks, Bob.

5/19

You leave me confused. I realise this is a normal state for me, but this time I'm MORE CONFUSED THAN USUAL!!!

Is that an alternate plan for if I get run over by a bus? Because there's no buses here, but if you need, I'm sure I could step in front of a pick-up. Heaven knows there's an over-abundance of those.

And I bet the dessert is only desert after all. I ain't eating no sand. :(

K

5/19

Well if you could do that, why didn't you say so! Next week you'll create food and water, then I'm not letting you have any of the dessert that's on the table.

mikE

5/18

I had no clue about camels not pooping daily. Very interesting, thank you. And point well made that the nomads would collect it for fire fuel - THAT I should have thought of, but didn't.

So, with all this collecting water and so forth, what is wrong with just using the Create Food and Water spell? That requires no components whatsoever, not even one drop of dew.

K

5/18

Fritz - No stars. The sky is a dark, solid purple.

Moirra - Camels don't poop every day from what I read online. Really, that whole no camel poop thing didn't even make me bat an eye. Maybe it's because I have a pet snake and am used to animals that only poo once a week, or maybe it's because I know camel feces come out dry enough to burn as fuel, so any smart desert nomad would collect their camel's droppings since it's hard to find firewood out in the desert.

As for water, I'm still thinking that tears/spit should count. But if not, hopefully I have a solution. Fritz will turn into a beast again, dig a trench in the wall of the cave. My holy symbol is a silver arrowhead, so maybe if it's hung up on the cave wall dew will collect on it and that can be used as the drop of water, then we create water over the trench because after we create it, it'll just fall to the ground and be useless. So this way we have a drink in the morning because apparently we can go all night with no water since we just did it.

As for the powers of the flail, I view it as a kind of test. The temptation to find out what amazing powers it has is there. But look at what's happened to everyone who's ever used it that we know of. If it is a no other options, life and death, if no amazing things come and save us we'll all die horrible, horrible deaths, then Fin might look into it.

-Mike

5/17

Two points: 1 - priests always have their holy symbols on them, especially a small medallion like Moirra wears. If it was a battle axe might be different, but small ones like Finglas and her wear almost never come off.

2 - John did come up with some amazing ideas. He deserves a lot of credit for finding just the right wording to make this happen. Turns out that conjure spell component works for bring any natural component for any spell you know not what you have memorized. Then the Purify Food and Drink idea was great also.

BOB

5/17 King of the Lab

Well, I did my part. We have a soultion. If one of our priests have and can cast Purify Food and Drink we will have our water to cast create water, if Kaz is here.

John

5/17

Kaz, The biggest issue with the priests in this case is you were not wearing your holy symbol yet you have them with you in this dream state. If you look on your list of spells, you should see a few spells you can cast with only your holy symbol. Don't get us wrong, we are glad you have it. It just makes us question the logic of the magic, or rather the rules of this particular magic. Off to do my homework, to find a solution or create a new character, just in case.

John

5/16

Just a couple thoughts in response to recent comments.

First, Fritz, I don't know that I'd say priests are somehow being compensated. Something I'd like to point out is that the two priests have HOLY items. Also, I have the creepy feeling that the Finglass/Moirra/Paul/Liam/Rave group is currently in the domain of Set. If that's true, does it mean we have no access to any other deities, including those Fin and Moirra follow? I would say that we must, or our holy symbols wouldn't have come with us... but it's not my world. If we can reach other gods, I'm all for trying to tap Horus for some help.

As far as the lack of camel feces, I'd say that it IS significant. When does a living creature like a camel NOT leave copious amounts behind? When it is not a true living creature; perhaps an illusion, perhaps a - for lack of better term - shadow of a living creature. Which leads to the thought that perhaps we are on a plane that is a shadow of the one our friends are on, if not Set's domain.

I don't know how I feel about exploring the powers of the flail. On the one hand, it may be stupid not to, as we might be able to use it to help us. On the other hand, if it has something to do with Set, or if we are in Set's domain, we could be really screwed if we use it. Or not. Tough choice, I'll go with the consensus, though.

K

5/16/09

I have to say that I agree to an extent with both opinions. First I think both Paul and the Sphinx have hit on something. I would really suggest and I think the group should pressure Finglas to at least explore the powers of the Flail. To avoid so I believe both in and out of character to be rather foolish. I know that Mike plays his characters rather stoicaly and that he doesn't respect Rave's opinion nor his prowess, but maybe Paul, and Moira and the others in group A could convince him.

Has Fin asked the amulet if it has any idea where we may be? It is a planar traveler and may have some notion. Would Fin be willing to let us know what his amulet does so that we may have some idea of how it may benifit us in this circumstance. Does anyone have any skills in Astronomy or navigation in the group to see if they can recognize the star clusters in relation to where we are?

Are we sure we aren't in the Flail? One thing I am curious about is of course that our bodies are NOT back where we were sleeping so a dream realm may be stretching it a bit. Though I must admit that I never got the description of the differing appearances of the realm we are in from what I read in the summation Bob gave us.

I wouldn't have attacked the nomads per say, but stealing from them wouldn't have bothered me. As far as digging a trough or digging for a well I will need someone to come up with a good enough monster which I may have seen in my adventures that would accomplish this. Also remember this is SAND...It will be tough to dig something and have it stay in shape, as well as prevent the water from disappearing almost immediately. If we are in a "solid" area and not sand then maybe we can do such.

Also at this time I would hesitate to use the "conjure spell component" spell unless we are trully desperate physically. I really need to disagree with Bob about spit or a tear even not being adequate for a "drop of water". I will accept this is his world and his rules, but saying we could "never" do it that way, I would ask when other than now has it been an issue. Finally a cleric would know if saliva or tears could be used and if not we would have gotten some water from the oasis. I state this because I did ask if we needed to get supplies from the oasis and Bob said no. Even if there was no spring or trees we would have asked the nomads for at least a cup of water knowing what we know, as well as I don't remember the lack of terrain being described to us.

I would also give John the advice to NOT have Paul teleport unless we are in a life and death situation. It would be better to trudge across land than use that spell at this time.

Finally I agree that we have a standing rule of keeping PC's one round behind if the players are not available. But as we move along in levels and are becoming more and more indebted to abilities and items that people carry I believe we need to look at this rule with a bit of leniency. Simple things we planned on having available that is NON combat or game braking should be allowed. Things such as conjuring food and water, use of the teleporter, or even healing should be allowed if we aren't actively being accosted. If we continue with the rule that no one is allowed to participate if they are a round behind even with minor things this can potentially mean that we halt entire game days simply because someone is missing. For example I believe if all those at the game tonight had realized we wouldn't have access to Moirra casting create food and water spell, we wouldn't have moved from the oasis. If Finglas doesn't show up and we need the Flail we wont have it.

To sum it up there are rules, and then there are rules. The main reason we put absent players a round behind is so that we wouldn't abuse them and place them in bad combat situations in which they could possibly be killed. Not to stop us from playing. The way we have it now, it potentially will stop us from playing/surviving. For example if Kaz isn't going to show up next week I would suggest to everyone NOT to show up either. That way we won't run the risk of 3 main characters dieing simply because a first level, non combat spell couldn't be cast.

F

5/15

Okay, after the game I thought I should put down my thoughts, also. What we know: the two groups are in the same place, but on different levels. Group A entered through a dream. Group B went there normally. When Group A got to the oasis, there was a bubbling spring and palm trees. The slept. When they woke, there was no spring, and the trees had no branches/leaves. Bob also pointed out there was no camel shit. Significant? I hope not. They sky for group A is a solid, dark purple sky. Group B's is black with a moon and stars. Our dreams had a solid, dark purple sky. Fin asked his amulet to detect evil, and the amulet told him that everything was evil. Sand, sky, rocks...

So my conclusion is that Group A is in a dream world of where the Flail or it's maker wants to be. Both groups probably need to get to the temple to do something.

As for the immediate problem of water, I'm going to hope evil dream desert has dew in the mornings. Rave should dig a nice sized trough in the rock. we'll use the dew to create water into it, drink, and continue on our way.

Group B has supplies, so they should be fine after waiting out the day's heat.

5/15 11:11

I think our best option is to use the Flail. See what powers we can invoke with it. Maybe if Rave can did down deep enough, he can find the water table. If it comes down to it, I can try and teleport somewhere, but i do not see how that will work in a dream. Everything seems to act as if it is real so maybe in this dream I can teleport home. I am not sure I can teleport everyone but I will do what I can in case I can not make it back. If we can see the temple, I can teleport to it, with some risk. I still do not think Paul would have attacked innocent people to save his own life. I thought as the rest that we were given water and we had the ability to make water. Paul has conjure spell component. I think it has to be for a spell he knows, not necessarily one he has memorized. If that is true, maybe I have a spell that needs water or something close enough. I will try and find the time to do my homework, at least i saved Paul's sheet so I have something to work with.

John

5/13

Well John I see your point. I don't believe this is a dream but real. I think Bob is making some compensation for the priests. I don't know why Mike's amulet would also be there given that. So I believe we are dealing with a "Booby" or a "BoBoo". In other words, it doesn't make sense, but Bob doesn't want to let Mike take off the amulet, nor does he want to weaken the clerics to much as we probably will be running into some undead. The other reason would be he just messed up and doesn't want to fix it...LOL

Fritz

5/12

Fritz, I feel for you. I had rings on my fingers and now they are not on me nor are they where I was. It is extremely frustrating when a Priest gets to have their holy symbol that could not be worn as snug as rings. I am convinced this is not reality, probably a dream state, so we do not have are actual bodies and part of the magic allows special benefits for priests. I have considered disbelieving or trying to wake myself up but if I wanted to do that I would not have been suckered in my the vision in the first place. I took the deal and have to live with it.

John

5/12/09

Ok, JUUUUUST out of curiosity...why the HECK would I sleep outside all the time? I am a wealthy seasoned adventurer, that enjoys the comfort life has to offer him. I would sleep outside as much as Finglas would sleep outside. If it is because I am a pixie just think about it...He is a bigger fairy than I am - Literally!!! (Hehehehehe).

Next Since I was gathering all that stuff (water, food, etc) I would have told people. I also would have told them I am going to enter the portal, as I thought (more an assumption I guess) that we would have communicated what our actions were going to be. I thought I had a room at Roadhaven. It could be a small room...but a room none the less.

So if I was sleeping in my gear did it stay behind or come with me?

Next what about the FLAIL?!?!?! You said Finglas' Necklace, and Moirra's necklace came with them what about the FLAIL? Did Finny leave it behind?

I read the log and I don't see where we walked away from the Oasis without talking to anyone or getting directions, or even leaving behind a message. I think knowing that their henchmen were soon to follow those guys would have left a message.

Next are any of the henchmen walking around in this weather in armor? That is asking for a case of heat prostitution!!!! And yea I mean prostitution...It will cost them alot if they don't remove it and I am sure you will screw them (ROFLMAO)

Fritz

5/12 Because Rave rarely sleeps inside it was presumed that no one investigated his belongings up to this point. Plus being invisible all the time means it is much easier to not notice you are not around :)

Your henchmen are coming back, it is on the calendar when you log into KloOge the date they are due. It was only very recently that Rhys came back (week before last session) so yours are making progress. I did add in XP for their journey. So yes you will be able to play them, just not during the current story arc. I would think that they will be back for the final story arc after you (hopefully) successfully complete this mission.

BOB who is stealing the neighbors wireless

5/12/09

Couple of things to point out Bob. First I did say that I was going to sleep with my stuff on. And yes for one night lying in a comfortable bed you can sleep with equipment. I have slept in a chair with all my doctors gear on many time. I don't wear armor but I was prepared with all my accoutrements on at the time of "my disapearance". So what they will find when they go to my room (if my things didn't accompany me) is everything laid on the bed as if I was wearing them.

Finally is there any reason why my henchmen wouldn't be back yet? It has been months...Everybody else gets to play their henchmen...I wanna play my henchmen...It just isn't fair...I wannna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna!!!! Waaaaaaaa!!!!!!

Fritz

5/10

John posted in character on the other thread which brings up a fine point. Up to this point in time (I am referring to it as day 3) none of the "missing" characters are known to be anything but "missing".

As clear as I can state without ruining the mystery that means that (in John's case) Paul went to sleep like normal. No magic items, no armor, no weapons, etc. The rings he would normally wear he would be wearing.

When people discover that group (Finglas, Moirra, Rave, Paul & Liam) missing it is as if they were asleep and just disappeared. Their rooms were not ransacked by anyone looking for anything. Armor, weapons, etc. would still be where they normally would be on a desk, in a chest, etc.

No one with any skills has done any investigation beyond that.

So to sum up Khan does find Paul missing, does find his weapons, bracers, spell books, etc. Khan does not find Paul's rings.

BOB

5/10

I hope Mike has fun playing his two character, separated from either of the other groups. I know I have had times with multiple characters and it can be quite challenging. I also hope Ant and Val are not afraid to use Paul's control crystal when and if it is time.

John

5/4

OK, so I posted the first vision on the in character thread so that people can read it and see how Kaz and Mike reacted. Kaz had some excellent quotes that I included that do not include spoilers.

And yes that was a great idea John, too bad that you or Lorie were not here that night to do it. When you next log in you will be given some choices and a chance to react and do what you want in response.

BOB

5/4

Bob, I think you should post the dreams to this chat log for everyone to know what they've been getting. Give everyone the first two dreams, then the one where they need to make their decisions. That way, at the start of next week we'll know where everyone is.

mikE

5/3

John that is probably the BEST damn idea I have heard in years!!! You are the BOMB!! If you need some "Nodoze" so you can never sleep and come up with even better ideas tell me!!!

Fritz

5/3

This is one of the reasons I can't sleep. I had this thought as I was trying to fall asleep. All we have to do is give Fin the control crystal to one of the pools. He will concentrate on what he needs and the pool will take us there. If nothing else it will get us on the adventure quicker. It is almost the same way we found the "lost" Memorial Dungeon. The plan is not "BOB Proof" but I think he will like it.

John

5/2

I wouldn't be so quick to assume that our task is to destroy the flail. I know this is Bob's world, but still consider that with a feeling of something missing maybe we just need to reunite it with someone or something else. Or possibly just return it to Manetho.

Fritz

5/2/09

Well I didn't wake up until 4:30 pm this afternoon (I was really sleep deprived). One thing I want to point out to John (and this may be my misinterpretation of what he is saying), but Meleagar wasn't a drow. He was a black human male. Also he said that when he was on the surface world he was affected by the artifact but when he came to the underdark it had less of an effect on him. He apparently knew this and that is why he came there. Usually when you talk about an artifact having affect on others it means that they covet it. Now the other thing could be if it was indeed an item of a pharoh it may make people obey him more.

I would hope you are referring to the artifact, not Fin's level restoration. I would like to clarify all we know so far, about the quest and the object. From what little I saw, I had the impression this item did not have much of an effect on the one who gave it to Fin, if so I would like to know why, if we know. If someone evil (possible lawful) and someone lawful good held it without issue, it may only be held by lawful characters. If the drow? was not lawful, then we can figure anyone can use it. Seems a simple first test to see if Paul can hold it. He can learn Identify and see what that reviles. But the question I posed last night, or rather the two questions are: 1) Do we destroy it and if we do 2) How do we prove it. It seems Fin who accepted the quest has first dibs, or decision, as as Mike seemed to say destroy it, all we need is a vote and we can possibly finish this part in one day, Fin pools to the Sun just kidding). Anyone want to challenge Fin to keep the Artifact?

John

Fin went home to get his level restoration. He took Moirra to meet the parents, and then they did some basic and more detailed research.

Then they started to deal with the effects of the Flail. Multiple people were being affected by it.

Each player will find out more as they log in and make their own choices on what to do.

Mike and Kaz, do you think I should post those first passages?
