Chapter 3 - Basics of the Attack Roll

How many attacks a round

With all of the various classes, Races, and Proficiencies that can be combined the number of attacks a character can make each round can vary significantly.

As always what can you do in a round helps understand the order that attacks go in. Also each attack counts as a point of fatigue.

For Rogues, Priests and Mages the number of attacks in a round is governed entirely by the weapon type. Melee weapons are one attack per round and missile weapons are two attacks per round.

Only Warriors and Rogues can use two weapons at once. There are attack penalties for all characters except for Rangers when attempting to use two weapons.

The attack with the primary weapon is at a -2 and with the secondary weapon is a -4. Rangers are exempt from this penalty. This can be modified by the characters Reaction Adjustment if they have a high or low score. Warriors and Rogues with Two Weapon Style can remove 2 from each of those penalties. This can be combined the the Ambidexterity Weapon Proficiency that removes the -4 for off hand use. This combination eliminates all penalties for using two weapons. Note that Two Weapon Style also allows two weapons of the same length to be used; without that weapon style proficiency the second weapon must be a smaller weapon. This includes Rangers.

All warriors get additional attacks as they go up in level. Only single classed Fighters can take Weapon Specialization which gives more than two attacks in one round starting at level one. Additional Weapon Skill Levels do not increase the number of attacks, only their effectiveness. Any character using a second weapon in their off hand gets only one extra attack with that weapon in a round.
