Virginia Barlett is the daughter of Emilia French (Mother) and Troy Barlett (Pa), and the step-daughter of Rocco de Luc (Dad). She prefers to go by Vee, the nickname her Pa gave her when she was very young, although she cannot remember if it was before or after her mother left. According to Troy, Vee is a name of freedom that allows her to be whoever she wants when she wants. Her given name, Virginia, is one she's done her best to ensure only her immediate family knows.

Her mother, Emilia French, is a cleric of the Keldorian faith, who spends her life on ships and missions. Emilia met the promiscuous Troy Barlett at a young age. They fell in love and had a daughter (Virginia) and a son (Leo). But as time passed, and Emilia kept to her ships, distances had them drift apart - amicably, according to Troy, but not something Vee believes. Years later, after another promiscuous period of his life, Troy met the handsome Rocco who readily took in Vee and Leo as his own. Although she rarely hears from her mother, Vee inherited her loves of the seas while her father taught her open-mindedness.

While Leo is her direct blood brother, Vee has an assortment of half-siblings, many she's sure she's yet to meet given her father's many, many encounters before settling down with Rocco. She's recently been building her relationship with one known half-sister, Gloria, who works at the Seven Sirens Tavern in Achild.

One day, while hanging out at the docks, Vee thought she heard a high-pitch screeching. Upon investigation, she discovered an incoming ship trying to anchor in the reefs as it waited to dock. Rather than wait for diplomacy, she jumped into the water and cut the anchor free, doing her best to tug it somewhere less destructive. Jia-Jie, a ranger looking forward to retirement, who still found herself taking easier jobs to pay the bills, watched, impressed, and took Vee under her wing. Although Vee still doesn't know what brought Jia-Jie from Aida to their island, she has learned much under her tutelage.

While of the land, Vee has known Levi for years and considers him her best friend. As a counter, she's also great friends with Matthias and Lirtimya who share her dislike of the solid ground of the islands and the yearn for the seas. MeLange, who she met at the Seven Sirens in more recent times, has become a fast friend.

Her current hangout is the Seven Sirens Tavern which she defended from the wannabe Dragons therefore becoming a Dragonslayer.

Revelations during 20230916s:

Dru5232321 (Matthias Crowtooth): I believe I can summarize. Vee is a princess of some sort, her dad is the Genghis Khan of the island, and Matthias is the only one that is not a member of this inbred circle.

The group (and player) learn that Vee is from a family who operates like a pirate mafia a very legitimate, definitely above board shipping company. They are clearly well off, have their own ruffian-disguised guard, own a whole block in town, and recruit the extra offspring to help the family business if they have worthy talents - just like any normal family!

When Rocco helped them dress for a party, he gave them secret weapons in their clothing. He also expressed disappointment in Vee for being caught up in chasing down criminals, sad that she had fallen so low. Fascinating. Also learned during this session is Vee being a total Daddys' Girl who fully believes in investing in this very legitimate family business. When her Dad asked her to steal return from a party 200 gold richer, and she managed better, rather than keep it to herself or split it like a smart party member to fund future training, she gave all of it to her Dad. She also had no qualms about doing exactly what her Dad asked her to do - even if it meant punching someone.

Unknown at this time is how the tavern comes into play mentioned in her backstory: owned, common meeting place for very legitimate meetings, left after creating this successful above board family business, or never existed just something Vee believed? It is also not fully known why Vee is in Achild rather than living in Osterhold. Thorndike asked if she was still on the run while Gaerradh Berilan asked if her father let her back in town and if she returned that vase. It was also mentioned by her father that Vee has access to ships - something to explore more.

Before heading off, Thorndike mentioned he may have goods for Vee to help move while Rocco had a shopping list for her that is most likely something very legal, and very normal, like asking her to go steal buy illegal goods milk and eggs.

Current impression is Rocco clearly loves his stepdaughter, and while Troy does, too, Vee may or may not have done something in the recent past that caused Troy some disappointment. It is also possible that Vee is not necessarily a complete alcoholic, but also uses that as a cover for very legitimate, definitely legal things. Those at The Pearls of the Sea know her and know her father, and apparently one of them makes a scene of her, but good or bad?

Revelations during 20231110s:

Vee has a very healthy and good relationship with Troy. As worried as others are about Troy being in a bad mood, it is very possible Vee gets in a worse mood. While she (mostly) knows when to catch him in a better mood, it is also very possible it's hard for him to be mad at her. He's willing to call in a favor for her if anyone is bothering her and she needs them gone, or at least "protection" from them whatever that may entail. It's clear she can happily go to him for advice.
